1. Analytical Study on Lateral Strength of Multi-Span RC Frame with Masonry Infill

Abstract

A simple and accurate analytical model for defining the lateral strength of the multi-span RC frame with masonry infill has been developed in this study. This model is developed due to the limitation of the current analytical model which only can be applied to the single-span RC frame. Meanwhile, the structure in the building also is in a multi-span frame and masonry infill greatly impacts the portal structure. In the existing building, this analytical method is needed to calculate the lateral strength of the RC frame. Besides, the analytical method was developed based on the lateral strength analysis method of a single-span RC frame in which the modeling of a multi-span RC frame with masonry infill along with uniform span spacing was applied. Furthermore, an equivalent diagonal strut with the same thickness and material as the masonry panels was used instead of masonry infill in the frame structure. The external column has diagonal compressive forces on the top or bottom of the column. On the other hand, diagonal compressive forces work at the top and the bottom of the column in the internal column. The lateral strength of the infill was determined based on the frame infill contact length. Furthermore, in order to obtain the lateral strength of the structure, the experimental study of a multi-span RC frame with masonry infill under cyclic load was also tested. Applying the analytical model has shown promising results even after being compared with the results of the experimental work.

Abstract

This paper presents an evaluation of the seismic capacity of the Dean Building of The Faculty of Social and Political Science of Tadulako University due to the Palu Earthquake 2018. The building was built in 2016 and went into use in 2017. The building is made from a reinforced concrete frame consisting of three floors and collapsed after the earthquake. Data for the analysis are taken from the Detail Engineering Design of the Dean Building of The Faculty of Social And Political Science of Tadulako University in 2015. Seismic capacity evaluated based on Standard for Seismic Evaluation of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings issued by the Japan Country. The analysis are done on the 1st-floor structure because the most significant sliding force happens on the first floor. Seismic capacity is invoked in the form of a link between the lateral strength and the ductility index. By using Japanese standards, the building's seismic capacity is relatively small in withstanding the earthquake load and collapsed the building. Based on observations in the field by conducting non-destructive testing using hammer tests, the concrete material had relatively low quality and a failure to connect the column beams by insufficiently reintegrating and resulted in a collapse of the building.

4. Seismic Performance Evaluation of a Multistory RC Building in Padang City

Abstract

Since a long time ago, Padang City has been recognized as one in most-earthquake and tsunami prone city in the world. The successive significant earthquakes that have struck western coast of Sumatra Island from 2004 to 2010 seems to warn the city about its prone condition. The last major Padang-Pariaman earthquake on September 30, 2009, for instance, has caused hundreds of death and lousy damage to thousands of houses and buildings in city. Recently, several new multistory reinforced concrete (RC) buildings have been established in this area. Its include such buildings as government office, mosques, hotels, school and university. The city government plans to use these buildings as vertical evacuation facilities if an earthquake followed by a tsunami hit the city in the near-future. As a consequence, of course, these infrastructures should be well designed and constructed to resist the future earthquakes motion. This paper discusses an evaluation of the seismic performance of an existing multistory RC building in Padang city. The building was a ten-story of hotel RC building located near the coastline of Padang city. A series Pushover and Time History Analyses were conducted to examine the seismic performance of the target R/C building. It uses STructural Earthquake Response Analysis (STERA-3D), a computer software based on the nonlinear finite element method. The Pushover analysis was conducted for maximum drift ratio 1/200 in X and Y directions, respectively. The input ground motion in a maximum acceleration of about 400 gals and 600 gals for 60 seconds’ excitation were used for the Time History Analysis. These input ground motions were generated from the recorded ground motion of 2009 Padang-Pariaman earthquake. The result of the analyses suggest that the current target multistory RC building has outstanding seismic performance. The result is based on the level of damage of the structural components, base shear, inter-story drift, lateral displacement, dynamic responses and the seismic capacity spectrum of the analytical model.

Abstract

The incidence of prostate cancer is estimated to continue to increase. However, Prostate cancer is cancer with an aetiology that is still not well understood at present due to the complexity of the factors involved. Obesity has been identified as a contributing factor to at least twelve types of cancer, including prostate cancer. This thesis has been structured with the main objective of providing an overview of how the adipokines (leptin and adiponectin) and lipid profiles contribute to the interaction between obesity and prostate cancer, with each chapter using a different study design and research question in order to get a more complete picture of how obesity is linked to prostate cancer. While obesity has been related to prostate cancer, the results from this thesis have shown the role for adipokines in terms of risk, aggressiveness and progression of prostate cancer is still uncertain, with the work conducted in this thesis systematically reviewing the literature and highlighting weaknesses within that literature, which new analysis of an available prospective cohort study, the PRIME study, attempted to rectify. Ultimately, findings from this survival analysis suggested trends in terms of associations between adipokines and prostate cancer mortality, but results were not statistically significant, likely due to a low number of cases, and therefore further robust studies are required considering the method of assessment of adipokine exposure and development of robust models using appropriate confounders, which will allow conclusions regarding this potential association. Post-hoc analysis of a diet and lifestyle intervention has demonstrated that, although previously analysed anthropometric outcomes and dietary intake were altered, there was no significant effect on lipid profile and CVD risk outcomes, while level of adherence also did not seem to be associated with these secondary outcomes, although adherence was associated with the primary anthropometry outcome. As for the survival analysis, a lack of statistical power is likely to have been an issue for the secondary lipid outcomes, and a retrospective power calculation confirmed this.

Abstract

This paper presents the simplified method for evaluating the seismic performance of existing reinforced concrete (RC) buildings following The Japan Building Disaster Prevention Association standard. In this method, the seismic performance of RC buildings was described in lateral strength and ductility indexes of vertical members such as columns, short columns, and masonry walls. The simplified method was applied to assess the seismic performance of an existing building that survived the September 2009 West Sumatra earthquake. The evaluated building was a three-story RC building that used brick masonry walls as the infill. The shear stress of the brick infill was obtained based on the test results on the RC frame with brick infill under static lateral load. Abstract

Background: Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) can have a notable impact on the psychological and physical well-being of individuals, which in turn affects the management of the condition. Men and women experiencing stress and adopting distinct coping strategies. However, research focusing specifically on T2DM in men is still limited. Purpose: The present study intends to investigate the distress and coping strategies adopted by male T2DM outpatients in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. Methods: This study employed a qualitative research design and conducted indepth interviews to 24 male T2DM outpatients. The interview guidelines were formulated using the Indonesian version of the Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS17) questionnaire, which comprised four domains: physician-related distress, emotional burden, regimen-related distress, and interpersonal distress. A thematic analysis was performed to analyze the results gathered during the research and compile them into a final report. Results: The study revealed that individuals diagnosed with T2DM experienced a range of emotional and practical difficulties, including feelings of fear, anxiety, and a lack of understanding. Disease burden, a lack of understanding of both diabetes and healthcare services, difficulties managing their diet, routine medication, financial concerns, and fatigue also contributed to the distress. To cope with distress, the informants identified eight distinct coping strategies. Of these, the most effective strategy was receiving support from family members, followed by acceptance, self management, positive attitude, understanding of their illness, joining the diabetes community, spirituality, and getting more information about T2DM. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicated that men experience eight distinct types of stress and utilise comparable coping strategies associated with T2DM. Emotional distress represents the predominant pressure, while family support constitutes the primary coping strategy. Abstract

Pengangguran dikalangan lulusan universitas masih tergolong tinggi karena tantangan mencari pekerjaan terus berkembang lowongan pekerjaan yang ditawarkan berbeda jauh dengan lulusan atau tenaga kerja disemua jenjang. Maka dari itu perlu dikembangkannya kewirausahaan atau intensi dalam nbsp berwirausaha pada mahasiswa sehingga ketika lulus nanti dapat menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan baru guna mengurangi pengangguran. Pendidikan kewirausahaan yang diperoleh berperan penting dalam melakukan kegiatan wirausaha nantinya. Selain itu kondisi sosial ekonomi orang tua dan efikasi diri menjadi hal yang dapat mempengaruhi intensi berwirausaha pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis statistic deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa penyebaaran kuisioner melalui Google Form. Alat analisis yang digunakan yaitu aplikasi SPSS 25 dengan analisis regresi linier berganda. Sampel yang diambil sebanyak 56 mahasiswa Prodi Pendidkan Ekonomi Angkatan 2018 Universitas negeri Malang. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pengaruh positif dan signifikan secara simultan pendidikan kewirausahaan kondisi sosial ekonomi orang tua dan efikasi diri terhadap intensi berwirausaha mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Ekonomi Angkatan 2018 Universitas Negeri Malang dilihat dari nilai R2 sebesar 33 3%. Berdasarkan simpulan penelitian ini terdapat saran yang ditujukan kepada mahasiswa dan peneliti berikutnya

Kendala yang ditemui di kelas 3 SDN 1 Gampeng adalah kurangnya media pembelajaran yang digunakan di dalam kegiatan pembelajaran terutama di dalam mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Hasil dari angket yang dibagikan kepada siswa untuk mengetahui permasalahan yang ada menunjukkan hasil bahwa siswa membutuhkan media pembelajaran yang memiliki banyak gambar dan warna atau menarik. Hal tersebut juga didukung dengan hasil wawancara kepada guru kelas 3 SDN 1 Gampeng dimana guru masih membutuhkan media pembelajaran tambahan yang menarik dan praktis untuk digunakan. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah untuk mengembangkan media komik pada materi dongeng di kelas 3 SDN 1 Gampeng yang valid bagi ahli materi ahli media ahli pengguna dan praktis bagi guru serta menarik bagi siswa. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini nantinya menggunakan metode Research and Development (RnD) dan menggunakan model ADDIE. Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 3 SDN 1 Gampeng yang berjumlah 11 siswa. Di dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengumpulan data berupa observasi wawancara dan angket. Observasi dilakukan untuk melakukan pengamatan terhadap kagiatan belajar mengajar dan sebagai bahan analisis karakteristik siswa. Sedangkan wawancara ditujukan kepada guru kelas 3 untuk mengetahui kebutuhan siswa dan guru dalam pembelajaran serta angket ditujukan kepada ahli materi ahli media siswa dan guru. Abstract

Background: Buffalo milk curd, a native probiotic source from Indonesia, is dominated by live indigenous Lactic Acid Bacteria known for their ability to lower blood glucose levels. Edamame contains amino acid arginine, chromium, antioxidants, and fibre, aiding in blood glucose control and lipid profile reduction. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effects of buffalo milk curd and edamame-based pudding snacks on fasting blood glucose levels and lipid profiles in Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. Methods: This study used a True Experiment Design with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The study involved 32 patients divided into treatment and control groups. During the study, the treatment group received 250 g of snacks in the morning and evening for one week. Blood glucose levels and lipid profiles were measured using the enzymatic colourimetry method. Results: The results showed decreased fasting blood glucose levels before and after treatment in both control (-17.06 ± 40.17) and treatment (-48.38 ± 40.27 mg/dl) groups (p=0.036). Total cholesterol levels also decreased in control (-15.87 ± 23) and treatment (-41.4 ± 19 mg/dl) groups (p=0.001). There were decreased LDL levels in control (-6.81 ± 29.09) and treatment (-27.3 ± 25.09 mg/dl) groups (p=0.04). However, HDL and TG levels showed no differences at the end of the study. Conclusions: Buffalo curd milk-edamame pudding snacks can reduce fasting blood glucose levels and lipid profiles, particularly total cholesterol and LDL levels, in Type 2 DM patients., Latar Belakang : Salah satu global public health policies untuk menurunkan prevalensi penyakit Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 adalah dengan menyediakan produk berkomposisi positif seperti serat dan probiotik. Hal tersebut sebagai alternatif baru dalam pengobatan DM dengan tujuan pengendalian kadar glukosa darah. Dadih susu kerbau merupakan sumber probiotik asli Indonesia yang didominasi oleh BAL Indigenous hidup 108 koloni/gram yang memiliki kemampuan menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dengan meningkatkan penyerapan laktosa. Edamame mengandung asam amino arginine, kromium, antioksidan dan serat yang bermanfaat untuk kontrol glukosa darah dan penurunan profil lipid. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian snack puding berbahan dasar dadih susu kerbau dan edamame terhadap kadar glukosa darah puasa dan profil lipid pada pasien diabetes mellitus tipe II. Mmetode : Desain penelitian ini adalah True Experiment Design dengan Pretest-Posttest With Control Group Design. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 17 orang untuk tiap kelompok perlakuan dan kontrol. Kelompok perlakuan diberi intervensi 2 kali sehari sebanyak 250 gr selama 7 hari pada jam makan snack pagi dan sore. Kelompok kontrol diberi puding berbahan susu khusus pasien diabetes. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perubahan kadar GDP sebelum dan setelah perlakuan pada kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan sebesar -17.1 ± 40.2 dan -48.4 ± 40.3 mg/dl. Perubahan kadar kolesterol total pada kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan sebesar -15.9 ± 23.2 dan -41.4 ±19.7 mg/dl. Perubahan kadar HDL pada kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan sebesar -2.4 ± 9.0 dan -2.8 ±14.7 mg/dl. Perubahan kadar LDL pada kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan sebesar -6.8 ±29.1 dan -27.3 ± 25.1 mg/dl. Perubahan kadar TG pada kelompok kontrol dan perlakuan sebesar -42.9 ± 104.4 dan -64.2 ± 91.6 mg/dl.
