It was defined that in animals of pubertal period hyperuricemia and its combination with hypercholesterolemia led to myocardial hyperfunction, which manifested mainly by hyperplasia of different cellular ultrastructures. Among adult animals in modelled metabolic deviations could be noted degenerative myocardial changes that appeared as partial or total organelles destruction. Abstract

A broken interfacial inversion symmetry in ultrathin ferromagnet/heavy metal (FM/HM) bilayers is generally believed to be a prerequisite for accommodating the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) and for stabilizing chiral spin textures. In these bilayers, the strength of the DMI decays as the thickness of the FM layer increases and vanishes around a few nanometers. In the present study, through synthesizing relatively thick films of compositions CoPt or FePt, CoCu or FeCu, FeGd and FeNi, contributions to DMI from the composition gradient induced bulk magnetic asymmetry (BMA) and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) are systematically examined. Using Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy, both the sign and amplitude of DMI in films with controllable direction and strength of BMA, in the presence and absence of SOC are experimentally studied. In particular, we show that a sizable amplitude of DMI (0.15 mJ/m^2) can be realized in CoPt or FePt films with BMA and strong SOC, whereas negligible DMI strengths are observed in other thick films with BMA but without significant SOC. The pivotal roles of BMA and SOC are further examined based on the three-site Fert-Levy model and first-principles calculations. 4. Spin-wave study of magnetic perpendicular surface anisotropy in single crystalline MgO/Fe/MgO films

Abstract

Broadband ferromagnetic resonance is measured in single crystalline Fe films of varying thickness sandwiched between MgO layers. An exhaustive magnetic characterization of the films (exchange constant, cubic, uniaxial and surface anisotropies) is enabled by the study of the uniform and the first perpendicular standing spin wave modes as a function of applied magnetic field and film thickness. Additional measurements of non-reciprocal spin wave propagation allow us to separate each of the two interface contributions to the total surface anisotropy. The results are consistent with the model of a quasi-bulk film interior and two magnetically different top and bottom interfaces, a difference ascribed to different oxidation states.

Abstract

International audience; Suppression of superconductivity due to the proximity effect between a superconductor and a ferromagnet can be partially alleviated when a Cooper pair simultaneously samples different directions of the short-range exchange field. The superconductor's critical temperature, TC, is therefore expected to partially recover when the ferromagnet is in a multi-domain state, as opposed to a single-domain state. Here, we discuss series of experiments performed with ferromagnet(Pt/Co)/spacer(IrMn and Pt)/superconductor(NbN) heterostructures. By tuning the various parameters in play, e.g., superconducting coherence length-to-thicknesses ratio, and domain sizes, we obtained up to 10% recovery of the superconducting critical temperature ΔTC/TC. This large-scale recovery made novel investigations possible. In particular, from the spacer thickness-dependence of ΔTC/TC, it was possible to deduce the characteristic length for Cooper pair penetration in an IrMn antiferromagnet. This information is crucial for electronic transport, and up to now has been difficult to access experimentally for antiferromagnets.

Abstract

We characterize spin-wave propagation and its modification by an electrical current in permalloy($\mathrm{Py}$)/$\mathrm{Pt}$ bilayers with $\mathrm{Py}$ thickness between 4 and 20 nm. First, we analyze the frequency nonreciprocity of surface spin waves and extract from it the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction constant ${D}_{s}$ accounting for an additional contribution due to asymmetric surface anisotropies. Second, we measure the spin-wave relaxation rate and deduce from it the $\mathrm{Py}$/$\mathrm{Pt}$ spin-mixing conductance ${g}_{\mathrm{eff}}^{\ensuremath{\uparrow}\ensuremath{\downarrow}}$. Last, applying a dc electrical current, we extract the spin Hall conductivity ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{SH}}$ from the change of spin-wave relaxation rate due to the spin Hall spin-transfer torque. We obtain a consistent picture of the spin-wave propagation data for different film thicknesses using a single set of parameters ${D}_{s}=0.25$ pJ/m, ${g}_{\mathrm{eff}}^{\ensuremath{\uparrow}\ensuremath{\downarrow}}=3.2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{19}\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{m}}^{\ensuremath{-}2}$ and ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\mathrm{SH}}=4\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{5}$ S/m.

Abstract

We present an experimental study of time refraction of spin waves propagating in microscopic waveguides under the influence of time-varying magnetic fields. Using space- and time-resolved Brillouin light scattering microscopy, we demonstrate that the broken translational symmetry along the time coordinate can be used to in- or decrease the energy of spin waves during their propagation. This allows for a broadband and controllable shift of the spin-wave frequency. Using an integrated design of spin-wave waveguide and microscopic current line for the generation of strong, nanosecond-long, magnetic field pulses, a conversion efficiency up to 39% of the carrier spin-wave frequency is achieved, significantly larger compared to photonic systems. Given the strength of the magnetic field pulses and its strong impact on the spin-wave dispersion relation, the effect of time refraction can be quantified on a length scale comparable to the spin-wave wavelength. Furthermore, we utilize time refraction to excite spin-wave bursts with pulse durations in the nanosecond range and a frequency shift depending on the pulse polarity., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

International audience; We investigated the self-induced inverse spin Hall effect in ferromagnets. Temperature (T), thickness (t) and angular-dependent measurements of transverse voltage in spin pumping experiments were performed with permalloy films. Results revealed non-monotonous T-dependence of the self-induced transverse voltage. Qualitative agreement was found with first-principle calculations unravelling the skew scattering, side-jump, and intrinsic contributions to the T-dependent spin Hall conductivity. Experimental data were similar whatever the material in contact with permalloy (oxides or metals), and revealed an increase of produced current with t, demonstrating a bulk origin of the effect.

Abstract

International audience; In the field of spintronics, ferromagnetic/non-magnetic metallic multilayers are core building blocks for emerging technologies. Resonance experiments using stripline transducers are commonly used to characterize and engineer these stacks for applications. Up to now in these experiments, the influence of eddy currents on the excitation of the dynamics of ferromagnetic magnetization below the skin-depth limit was most often neglected. Here, using a coplanar stripline transducer, we experimentally investigated the broadband ferromagnetic resonance response of NiFe/Cu bilayers a few nanometers thick in the sub-skin-depth regime. Asymmetry in the absorption spectrum gradually built up as the excitation frequency and Cu-layer thickness increased. Most significantly, the sign of the asymmetry depended on the stacking order. Experimental data were consistent with a quantitative analysis considering eddy currents generated in the Cu layers and the subsequent phaseshift of the feedback magnetic field generated by the eddy currents. These results extend our understanding of the impact of eddy currents below the microwave magnetic skin-depth and explain the lineshape asymmetry and phase lags reported in stripline experiments.

Abstract

International audience; We investigated spin injection by spin pumping from a spin-injector(NiFe) into a spin-sink to detect spin fluctuations in the spin-sink. By scanning the ordering-temperature of several magnetic transitions, we found that enhanced spin pumping due to spin fluctuations applies with several ordering states: ferromagnetic(Tb) and antiferromagnetic(NiO, NiFeOx, BiFeO3, exchange-biased and unbiased IrMn). Results also represent systematic experimental investigation supporting that the effect is independent of the metallic and insulating nature of the spin-sink, and is observed whether the spin current probe involves electronic or magnonic transport, facilitating advances in material characterization and engineering for spintronic applications.

Abstract

International audience; Although spin injection at room temperature in an IrMn metallic antiferromagnet strongly depends on the transport regime, and is more efficient in the case of magnonic transport, in this article, we present experimental data demonstrating that the enhanced efficiency of spin injection caused by spin fluctuations near the ordering temperature can be as efficient for the electronic and magnonic transport regimes. By selecting representative interacting environments, we also demonstrated that the amplification of spin injection near the ordering temperature of the IrMn antiferromagnet is independent of exchange coupling with an adjacent NiFe ferromagnet. In addition, our findings confirm that the spin current carried by magnons penetrates deeper than that transported by conduction electrons in IrMn. Finally, our data indicates that the value of the ordering temperature for the IrMn antiferromagnet is not significantly affected by either the electronic or magnonic nature of the spin-current probe, or by exchange coupling.

Abstract

The technique of propagating spin wave spectroscopy is applied to a 20 nm thick Fe/MgO (001) film. The magnetic parameters extracted from the position of the resonance peaks are very close to those tabulated for bulk iron. From the propagating waveforms, a group velocity of 4 km/s and an attenuation length of about 6 micrometers are extracted for 1.6 micrometers-wavelength spin-wave at 18 GHz. From the measured current-induced spin-wave Doppler shift, we also extract a surprisingly high degree of spin-polarization of the current of 83%. This set of results makes single-crystalline iron a promising candidate for building devices utilizing high frequency spin-waves and spin-polarized currents., 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. B

Abstract

Spin-wave propagation in an assembly of microfabricated 20 nm thick, 2.5 {\mu}m wide Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) waveguides is studied using propagating spin-wave spectroscopy (PSWS) and phase resolved micro-focused Brillouin Light Scattering ({\mu}-BLS) spectroscopy. We show that spin-wave propagation in 50 parallel waveguides is robust against microfabrication induced imperfections. Spin-wave propagation parameters are studied in a wide range of excitation frequencies for the Damon-Eshbach (DE) configuration. As expected from its low damping, YIG allows the propagation of spin waves over long distances (the attenuation lengths is 25 {\mu}m at \mu$_{0}$H = 45 mT). Direct mapping of spin waves by {\mu}-BLS allows us to reconstruct the spin-wave dispersion relation and to confirm the multi-mode propagation in the waveguides, glimpsed by propagating spin-wave spectroscopy.

Abstract

One of the most peculiar properties of spin waves in magnetic thin films is nonreciprocal wave propagation, i.e., a dependence of the wave properties on the propagation direction. The authors study this effect in permalloy films of thickness varying from 6 to 40 nm and find that the difference in the frequencies can reach several tens of MHz. The authors show that this frequency nonreciprocity is mainly caused by asymmetric magnetic anisotropies at the two surfaces of the ferromagnetic film. This result is important to understand recent works on the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, an unconventional chiral magnetic interaction that generates a similar frequency nonreciprocity. The authors demonstrate that while these contributions usually occur at the same time, the two can be distinguished via the difference in their dependence on the film thickness.

Abstract

We investigate the effect of an electrical current on the attenuation length of a 900 nm wavelength spin-wave in a permalloy/Pt bilayer using propagating spin-wave spectroscopy. The modification of the spin-wave relaxation rate is linear in current density, reaching up to 14% for a current density of 2.3$\times10^{11} $A/m$^2$ in Pt. This change is attributed to the spin transfer torque induced by the spin Hall effect and corresponds to an effective spin Hall angle of 0.13, which is among the highest values reported so far. The spin Hall effect thus appears as an efficient way of amplifying/attenuating propagating spin waves.

17. Quantifying the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya Interaction Induced by the Bulk Magnetic Asymmetry.

Abstract

A broken interfacial inversion symmetry in ultrathin ferromagnet/heavy metal (FM/HM) bilayers is generally believed to be a prerequisite for accommodating the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) and for stabilizing chiral spin textures. In these bilayers, the strength of the DMI decays as the thickness of the FM layer increases and vanishes around a few nanometers. In the present study, through synthesizing relatively thick films of compositions CoPt or FePt, CoCu or FeCu, FeGd and FeNi, contributions to DMI from the composition gradient-induced bulk magnetic asymmetry (BMA) and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) are systematically examined. Using Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy, both the sign and amplitude of DMI in films with controllable direction and strength of BMA, in the presence and absence of SOC, are experimentally studied. In particular, we show that a sizable amplitude of DMI (±0.15  mJ/m^{2}) can be realized in CoPt or FePt films with BMA and strong SOC, whereas negligible DMI strengths are observed in other thick films with BMA but without significant SOC. The pivotal roles of BMA and SOC are further examined based on the three-site Fert-Lévy model and first-principles calculations. It is expected that our findings may help to further understand the origin of chiral magnetism and to design novel noncollinear spin textures.

18. Time Refraction of Spin Waves.

Abstract

We present an experimental study of time refraction of spin waves (SWs) propagating in microscopic waveguides under the influence of time-varying magnetic fields. Using space- and time-resolved Brillouin light scattering microscopy, we demonstrate that the broken translational symmetry along the time coordinate results in a loss of energy conservation for SWs and thus allows for a broadband and controllable shift of the SW frequency. With an integrated design of SW waveguide and microscopic current line for the generation of strong, nanosecond-long, magnetic field pulses, a conversion efficiency up to 39% of the carrier SW frequency is achieved, significantly larger compared to photonic systems. Given the strength of the magnetic field pulses and its strong impact on the SW dispersion relation, the effect of time refraction can be quantified on a length scale comparable to the SW wavelength. Furthermore, we utilize time refraction to excite SW bursts with pulse durations in the nanosecond range and a frequency shift depending on the pulse polarity.
