Objective: The SafetyCrown workflow facilitates the immediate restoration of posterior single sites with the one‐abutment/one‐time concept. This randomized clinical trial aimed to assess the direct effect of immediate restoration on dental patient‐reported outcomes (dPROs), feasibility, implant accuracy, and time. Materials and Methods: Participants with a single posterior edentulous site for late implant placement underwent optical impressions, shade selection, and cone beam computed tomography. After virtual treatment planning, they were randomized into the test group and the control group. For the test group, individual definitive hybrid abutments were prefabricated. The next step was a fully guided surgery with printed guides. After the implant was placed using guided surgery, the abutment was inserted. A chairside CAD/CAM workflow was used to provide the patient with a provisional restoration. Implants in the control group were left submerged to heal. Oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) was assessed using the OHIP‐G14, and dPRO was measured using a 10‐item visual analog scale (VAS) questionnaire. Additional measurements of implant accuracy and time were performed. Follow‐up was performed 7 to 10 days after implant placement. Results: Thirty‐nine participants with 45 restorations were included (test group: 23, control: 22). Immediate restoration was successful in 21 out of 23 implants (91.3%) in the test group. Both groups exhibited decreased OHRQoL without significant intergroup differences, while patient satisfaction was high overall. Test group participants perceived higher benefits and satisfaction with immediate loading than participants in the control group. Implant accuracy averaged 0.60 mm at the shoulder and 0.95 mm at the apex. Operative time was longer in the immediate loading group (61.9 min) than in the control group (32.1 min) (p < 0.001). Conclusions: Considering the limitations, the immediate restoration of late placed posterior implants using the described workflow proved feasible in 21 out of 23 cases. Both groups achieved high patient satisfaction with no differences in OHRQoL during the first week. Background/Objectives: The integration of quality of life (QoL) assessments into dental health evaluations acknowledges the profound impact of oral health on overall well-being. This study aims to compare the impact of implant-supported complete dentures versus conventional complete dentures on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in elderly Romanian edentulous patients. Methods: This longitudinal study involved 93 initially recruited edentulous patients, with 52 completing the study over an 18-month period. Data collection utilized the OHIP-5 questionnaire, assessing the OHRQoL at baseline with conventional dentures and three months post-implant-supported denture placement. Ethical approval was secured from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy University of Oradea, adhering to the Helsinki Declaration principles. A statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25 and included non-parametric tests for score comparisons and Fisher's exact test for categorical data. Results: The comparative analysis of the questionnaire responses revealed significant improvements in all five OHRQoL dimensions post-treatment with implant-supported dentures. For instance, the proportion of patients reporting "never" experiencing difficulty chewing any foods increased from 1.9% at baseline to 57.7% post-treatment. Similarly, those reporting "never" experiencing painful aching rose from 3.8% to 76.9%. There was also a notable reduction in discomfort regarding the appearance of mouth, dentures, or jaws from 3.8% reporting "never" at baseline to 75% post-treatment. The improvements in sense of taste and difficulty in performing usual activities saw comparable increases. Conclusions: The findings support the hypothesis that implant-supported complete dentures significantly enhance OHRQoL among elderly edentulous patients compared to conventional dentures, with improvements noted in mastication ability, pain reduction, aesthetics, taste perception, and activity performance. Background: This cross-sectional study addresses scarcity of evidence on oral health issues among Saudi children and their impact on quality of life (OHRQL). We aimed to investigate parental reports of oral health problems in children and their effect on their OHQRL. Methods: Parents of children aged 2–11-years from Five-Saudi regions participated from February 2021 to July 2021 by completing an electronic, self-administered questionnaire structured according to World Health Organization-Oral Health Questionnaire for children. It comprises questions on children experiencing oral pain/discomfort, oral lesions/manifestations and reduction in their OHRQL. Results: Among 1,516 responders, 1,107 (73.0%) reported that their children experienced toothache/discomfort. The possibility of parents reporting toothache/discomfort or oral manifestations decreased with younger children. For children aged 2–5 years, the odds ratio (AOR) was 0.18 (95% CI [0.13–0.24], P < 0.001) for toothache and 0.58 (95% CI [0.45–0.74], P < 0.001) for oral manifestations. For children aged 6–8 years, the AOR was 0.57 (95% CI [0.4–0.81], P = 0.002) for toothache. Additionally, parents of younger children less frequently reported reduced OHRQL with AORs of 0.58 (95% CI [0.45–0.73], P < 0.001) for children aged 2–5 years and 0.64 (95% CI [0.49–0.83], P < 0.001) for those aged 6–8 years. Lower parental education increased AORs, with values of 1.575 (95% CI [1.196–2.074], P = 0.001) and 1.505 (95% CI [1.208–1.876], P < 0.001) for younger and 6–8-year-old children, respectively. Conclusion: Results revealed notable prevalence of toothache/discomfort and oral manifestations in children reported by parents, which was related to age and parental education; ultimately leading to reduction in their OHRQL. Introduction Purpose Materials and Methods Results Conclusion Implant‐supported removable complete overdentures (IODs) are a common treatment in case of edentulism and malfunctioning of the conventional denture. Manufacturing IODs in a conventional way (C‐IODs) is time‐consuming, but in a digital workflow, this can be done in three sessions. Digitally produced IODs (3D‐IODs) are also more advantageous than C‐IODs because lost or broken 3D‐IODs can be swiftly reproduced as the digital design is always available.To prove in a non‐inferiority study, with a margin of 0.3 point per Oral Health Impact Profile‐20 (OHIP‐20) question, that IODs made according to a fully digital workflow (3D‐IODs), function as good as C‐IODs with respect to patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs).This randomized crossover study included 36 fully edentulous patients who showed extreme resorption of the maxillary alveolar process, making denture retention difficult. After a maxillary bone augmentation and the installation of 4–6 implants, each patient wore both types of IOD for 1 year each, with the order reversed in two subsets of patients. The 3D‐IODs and C‐IODs were fabricated in advance for both jaws (at least two mandibular implants were already present).The OHIP‐20 survey was performed at baseline, after 1 year (before the IOD switch), and after 2 years to determine patient satisfaction scores using a visual analog scale (VAS). The general health status was assessed using the Short Form (SF‐36) questionnaire.Regarding the PROMs, patients preferred the 3D‐IOD: the improvement on the overall OHIP scale (0–4), expressed as a mean, was 0.26 points greater than for the C‐IOD (p < 0.001). This applied also to the VAS scale (1–100) with an increase of 7.37 points (p < 0.001). The objective of this prospective 12-month observational study is to examine the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) among Hong Kong young children aged 3–4 years old receiving silver diamine fluoride (SDF) therapy for carious upper anterior primary teeth. A parental questionnaire was used to collect each child's sociodemographic background and oral health habits at baseline. Data on parents' satisfaction with their child's dental aesthetics were collected at baseline and during a 12-month visit. The Chinese Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale (C-ECOHIS) was used to measure OHRQoL. A trained dentist performed examinations and recorded caries experience (dmft) and oral hygiene (visible plaque index) at baseline and 12 months. SDF was applied to the carious lesions. Out of 286 invited children, 248 (87%, 248/286) participated, and 211 (85%, 211/248) attended the 12-month examination. All SDF-treated carious lesions were discoloured at the 12-month examination. Regression analysis showed that the baseline C-ECOHIS score was associated with dmft (p < 0.001). The baseline and 12-month C-ECOHIS scores were 4.6 ± 5.5 and 5.0 ± 5.6, respectively (p = 0.42). The scores for parental satisfaction with dental aesthetics at baseline and 12 months were 59% to 46% (p < 0.001). Satisfaction was negatively associated with the number of discoloured upper anterior teeth (p < 0.001). In conclusion, SDF discoloured the carious upper anterior teeth of the Hong Kong kindergarten children. However, the discoloured lesions had no significant effects on the OHRQoL of these children. However, more parents became dissatisfied with their child's dental aesthetics after SDF therapy. Hence, clinicians should inform parents well before they perform SDF therapy on children. Objectives: The issue of oral health problems among refugees, not only during their journey but also once they arrive at their destination, is a current one. This study aimed to evaluate the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of refugees, with the intention of highlighting a potential need for improved education and easier access to dental care. Materials and methods: A questionnaire based on the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14) was distributed via hyperlink on social media, targeting individuals with a refugee background to collect data on their OHRQoL. Results: A total of 401 participants completed the questionnaire. The median OHIP score for all participants was 8 (IQR 2–17) out of a maximum of 56, with 0 representing the best possible OHRQoL. The median OHIP score was 6 (IQR 2–16) for male and 8 (IQR 2–18) for female participants. Conclusion: A comparison of the OHIP score from this study with reference values from non-refugee populations shows an elevated score and, thus, a lower oral quality of life. Clinical relevance: The findings of this study indicate a clear need for enhanced access to dental care for refugees, coupled with an educational initiative aimed at fostering an appreciation of the importance of daily dental hygiene. Background: Surgical removal of oral cancer results in tissue abnormalities, deformities, and reduced mobility; these problems can lead to esthetic disturbance, dysphagia, dysarthria, and masticatory dysfunction affecting oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). Aim: Research was conducted to evaluate OHRQoL in surgically treated oral cancer patients after prosthetic rehabilitation. Methods and Materials: A total of 120 patients who underwent surgical resection for oral cancer were assessed in this research. Two dentists who were skilled maxillofacial prosthetists handled the maxillofacial prosthesis therapy. The Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP), which consists of seven subscales, was incorporated to evaluate OHRQoL. Results: The overall OHIP score after prosthodontic and endodontic treatment was significantly lower as compared to pre-treatment OHIP score indicating improvement in overall OHRQoL in surgically treated oral cancer patients. Conclusion: There is a significant improvement in OHRQoL in surgically managed patients of oral cancer after prosthetic rehabilitation.

ObjectiveTo assess the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of adolescents in Northwest China, and to explore the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics, oral health-related behaviors and OHRQoL.MethodsA cross-sectional survey of adolescents aged 12–15 years in Shaanxi, Gansu province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of Northwest China was conducted by stratified cluster random sampling. Oral examinations were performed with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, and the condition of crowns and periodontal was recorded. Adolescents' oral health-related behaviors and OHRQoL were collected by questionnaire. Chi-square test and binary logistic regression analysis were used to examine the relationship.ResultsA total of 7,648 subjects were included. The prevalence of low OHRQoL which defined as a score higher than 0, was 83.8%. A low OHRQoL was most prevalent in Gansu Province and least prevalent in Shaanxi Province. Younger (OR = 0.73, CI = 0.60–0.87), female (OR = 1.27, CI = 1.11–1.44), rural (OR = 1.44, CI = 1.21–1.72), and mother with less education (OR = 0.69, CI = 0.60–0.81) all showed statistically significant influence on teenagers' OHRQoL. From a behavior perspective, teens' OHRQoL was correlated with their frequency of sugar consumption (OR = 1.72, CI = 1.41–2.10), dental appointment rate (OR = 1.29, CI = 1.064–1.57), self-assessment of oral health (OR = 3.09, CI = 2.29–4.19), DMFT index (OR = 1.19, CI = 1.04–1.37), number of teeth calculus (OR = 1.20, CI = 1.01–1.43), and dental trauma (OR = 0.47, CI = 0.39–0.57) over the previous year; however, brushing their teeth was not statistically significant.ConclusionsGenerally speaking, oral health-related behaviors—such as eating more sugary foods and scheduling dental appointments within the last year—have a significant negative impact on the quality of life of adolescents in Northwest China. Female, and adolescents from families with low educational backgrounds are more likely to be affected by such behaviors in their daily lives.

Goal of replacement of missing teeth is not only functional rehabilitation but overall improvement in quality of life of the patient. Aim: To assess the awareness of dental implants and to compare oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients treated with implant supported fixed prosthesis (ISPs) and teeth supported fixed prosthesis (FPDs). Methods: & Material: General implant awareness questionnaire was used to assess the awareness of dental implants in 500 participants. Oral health impact profile (OHIP) questionnaire was used to compare OHRQoL between 300 patients treated with ISPs and 300 patients treated with FPDs. Statistical analysis: Sample size was taken to estimate difference between groups at 30 % & 80% power and 5% risk. IBM SPSS 20 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL) was used for statistical analysis. Chi square test and independent t- test was used to find statistical difference between variables. This study investigates the impact of nonsurgical periodontal treatment (NSPT) on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in patients with periodontitis stages (S)2 and S3, and the factors associated with the prediction of patient-reported outcomes. Periodontitis patients (n = 68) with moderately deep periodontal pockets were recruited. Responses to the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 questionnaire and clinical parameters including plaque index, bleeding on probing (BOP), probing pocket depth (PPD), and clinical attachment loss (CAL) were recorded. All patients received supra- and subgingival professional mechanical plaque removal. All clinical parameters and questionnaire responses were recorded again 3 months after NSPT. Clinical parameters and OHIP-14 scores for both stages of periodontitis were significantly improved 3 months after treatment. However, participants with periodontitis S3 had significantly higher total OHIP-14, physical pain, and functional limitation domains scores than periodontitis S2 cases. Baseline CAL, BOP, and the presence of PPD in anterior teeth were positively associated with increased OHIP-14 scores after NSPT. NSPT improved OHRQoL in participants with periodontitis S2 and S3. This was more pronounced in participants having periodontitis S3 than S2. Poorer OHRQoL could be anticipated in people having severe CAL, high BOP, and presence of pockets in the anterior teeth. Background: Dentures play a crucial role in restoring oral function and aesthetics for individuals with missing teeth. However, the impact of partial versus complete dentures on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) remains unclear. This study aimed to compare OHRQoL between partial and complete denture wearers. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 200 denture wearers (100 partial, 100 complete) at a university dental clinic. Participants completed the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire to assess OHRQoL. Demographic data and denture-related information were also collected. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics, t-tests, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Complete denture wearers reported significantly lower OHRQoL scores (mean OHIP-14 score: 18.3 ± 7.2) compared to partial denture wearers (mean OHIP-14 score: 12.7 ± 6.5; p < 0.001). Functional limitation and physical pain domains showed the greatest differences between groups. Age, gender, and duration of denture use were significant predictors of OHRQoL (p < 0.05). Satisfaction with dentures was positively correlated with higher OHRQoL in both groups (r = 0.62, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Partial denture wearers reported better oral health-related quality of life compared to complete denture wearers. Clear aligner is an advanced orthodontic method with benefits of comfort, aesthetics, and convenience. This review describes the pain perception, and impacts on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of adult patients receiving clear aligners for orthodontic treatments. As more and more patients are opting for clear aligners over the conventional fixed appliance therapy patient's perception of pain and comfort regarding the aligners becomes extremely important. Therefore, proper evaluation regarding the pain perception and comfort and Oral health related quality of life during the orthodontic treatment with clear aligners must be evaluated. The present mini review aims to summarize the studies in the literature regarding the pain, tissue irritation, fit of the clear aligners. It was concluded that pain perception with clear aligners was lesser than fixed appliances, discrepancy in the fit of the aligners will not lead to desired tooth movement. Abstract Background Understanding oral health behaviour s and their impact on Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) may serve as an instrument to articulate the conventional oral health policy framework, thereby ameliorating the overall health of young individuals in the long term. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between children’s oral health behaviour s and Oral Health-Related Quality of Life in the capital governorate, Kuwait. Methods A cross-sectional study involving 607 children aged 12–14 years, randomly selected from schools in Kuwait Capital Region. A validated Oral Health Behaviour s and OHRQoL Child Perception Questionnaires (CPQ12-14) was used to collect the data. Chi-square, t-tests, and ANOVA were used to examine the association between oral behaviour s and children’s OHRQoL. Results About 52.2% of participants were males and the overall response rate was 93.8%. The mean ± SD for total OHRQoL impact was 3.1 ± 0.58, while the total mean for individual domains- for oral symptoms, functional limitations, emotional well-being and social well-being were 2.89 ± 0.63, 2.89 ± 0.72, 3.1 ± 0.91 and 3.4 ± 0.61, respectively. There was no significant difference in total OHRQoL impact score by frequency of last dental visit, flossing, use of mouth rinse or chewing gum (p > 0.05) but for the overall OHRQoL, frequency of soft drink intake was the only significant predictor associated with 0.2-unit decrease (B = -0.207, 95% CI, p = 0.002) in total OHRQoL scores. Conclusions High frequency of soft drink consumption was related to poorer OHRQoL. Behaviour changing interventions based on OHRQoL inferences coupled with clinical intervention are needed.

The reconstruction of large mandibular deficits involving the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can be challenging. Extended alloplastic total temporomandibular joint reconstruction (eTMJR) is one treatment option.This single center, prospective, long-term observational study evaluates the objective and subjective outcomes of 21 eTMJR subjects followed >5 years postoperatively. The long-term stability of the eTMJR was determined by collecting objective data (mandibular kinematics, contralateral surface electromyography (sEMG), maximum voluntary clenching (MVC)) and subjective oral health related quality of life (oHrQoL).Except for mandibular deviation on opening, the objective variables markedly improved. A statistically significant decrease was found for ipsilateral condylar hypermobility (P = 0.001), and an increase in bilateral MVC (ipsilateral P = 0.029, contralateral P = 0.015). The subjective outcomes 'diet consistency’ (P = 0.001) and 'physical distress' (P = 0.043) improved significantly.Based on the stability of the eTMJR devices over the study period, improved objective and subjective variables, eTMJR appears to be a safe and effective predictable management option for patients with large mandibular deficits including the TMJ.

Objectives: That no study has investigated oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) through the transition from adolescence to young adulthood is partly due to no OHRQoL index having been validated in both adult and child populations. Having separate measures for adolescence and young adulthood has meant that the different measures cannot be compared directly. Accordingly, the study objectives were: to determine whether the CPQ11–14 is a valid and reliable OHRQoL measure in young adults and to compare its performance with the OHIP‐14 in young adults. Methods: A cross‐sectional study was undertaken of a convenience sample of 968 young New Zealand adults aged 18–30 years (83.1% female) using RedCap. Two separate measures of OHRQoL were used (the CPQ11–14 and OHIP‐14), along with Locker's global oral health item. Results: Internal consistency reliability was high for the CPQ11–14 and the OHIP‐14, with Cronbach's alpha scores of.87 and.92, respectively. Mean scale scores were 15.8 (SD = 9.7) for the CPQ11–14 and 24.1 (SD = 10.1) for the OHIP‐14. The scale scores were strongly and positively correlated (Pearson's r =.8). Both demonstrated acceptable construct validity, represented by ascending gradients in mean scores across the ordinal response categories of Locker's global oral health item. Ordinal logistic regression modelling of Locker's item showed the CPQ11–14 to have a slightly better fit and explain more variance than the OHIP‐14. Conclusion: The CPQ11–14 was valid and reliable in this young adult population. Further epidemiological validation studies should confirm the findings in representative samples. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the changes in oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) scores in children treated for Early Childhood Caries (ECC) under general (GA) and local anesthesia (LA). Methods: A quasi-experimental study was carried out on 73 children, with 37 in the GA group and 36 in the LA group. The early childhood oral health impact scale (ECOHIS) was used to measure OHRQoL, with the type of anesthesia (LA or GA) serving as the explanatory variable. A Friedman test was used to assess the difference between the LA and GA groups at baseline, one-week, and one-month follow-up points. Results: The results showed a significant difference in the overall mean ECOHIS scores between the LA and GA groups at 1-week (LAmean ± SD = 6.12 ± 1.11, GAmean ± SD = 5.50 ± 0.88; P = 0.01) and 1-month (LAmean ± SD = 5.87 ± 1.12, GAmean ± SD = 4.96 ± 0.99; P < 0.001) follow-up points. Irrespective of the administered anesthesia, a significant (P < 0.001) reduction in the mean score for dental pain was observed at both 1-week (mean ± SD = 1.30 ± 1.16) and 1-month (mean ± SD = 0.81 ± 0.89) timepoints after the treatment, as compared to the baseline assessment (mean ± SD = 2.02 ± 1.02). Conclusion: Early treatment for ECC reduces pain, restore normal activities, and improves the quality of life of affected children. Specifically, GA was found to be more beneficial for both children and parents. Abstract Background Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) is an important measure of patients’ needs and progress. Identifying the links between clinical and non-clinical factors with OHRQoL in a specific population will facilitate the development of effective preventive strategies. The aim of the study was to assess the OHRQoL of Sudanese older adults, and to identify the possible relations between clinical and non-clinical predictors with OHRQoL using Wilson and Cleary model. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted among older adults attending the out-patient clinics in Khartoum State’s Health Care Centers, Sudan. OHRQoL was assessed using the Geriatric Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI). Two modifications of Wilson and Cleary’s conceptual model were tested using structural equations modeling including: oral health status, symptom status, perceived difficulty of chewing, oral health perceptions, and OHRQoL. Results 249 older adults participated in the study. Their mean age was 68.24 (± 6.7) years. The mean GOHAI score was 53.96 (± 6.31) and trouble biting/chewing was the most commonly reported negative impact. Wilson and Cleary models showed that pain, Perceived Difficulty Chewing (PDC), and Perceived Oral Health had a direct effect on OHRQoL. In model 1, age and gender had direct effects on oral health status, while education had direct effects on OHRQoL. In model 2, poor oral health status is associated indirectly with poor OHRQoL. Conclusions The OHRQoL of the studied Sudanese older adults was relatively good. The study partially confirmed Wilson and Cleary model as Oral Health Status was related directly to PDC and indirectly to OHRQoL through functional status.

Purpose: The aim of this crossover study was to evaluate patient satisfaction and oral health related- quality of life (OHRQoL) with different connectors used for implant-retained overdentures in subjects with resorbed mandibles. Materials and Methods: Eighteen edentulous patients with atrophied mandibular bone received traditional maxillary and mandibular dentures (control). After 3 months, two implants were inserted in the canine regions. Three months later, each patient received the following overdentures using a crossover design: (1) bar overdentures, (2) telescopic overdentures, and (3) stud overdentures. Patient satisfaction (primary outcome) was measured by visual analog scale (VAS). OHRQoL (secondary outcome) was measured by oral health impact profile (OHIP-14). Questions of VAS and OHIP-14 were evaluated after 3 months of using conventional dentures, bar overdentures, telescopic overdentures, and stud overdentures. Results: For all questionnaires, conventional dentures recorded significantly lower satisfaction than implant overdentures. Stud overdentures showed significantly higher satisfaction with maxillary denture comfort, selfconsciousness, and feeling that the prosthesis is a part of the patient compared with other attachments. Bar and telescopic overdentures showed higher satisfaction during biting of hard and soft foods, while telescopic and stud overdentures showed higher satisfaction with oral hygiene. No significant differences between attachments regarding other VAS and OHIP-14 questions were noted. Conclusion: Implant overdentures for subjects with mandibular bone resorption improved patient satisfaction and OHRQoL compared with traditional dentures regardless of the form of attachments. Background: Understanding oral health behaviour s and their impact on Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) may serve as an instrument to articulate the conventional oral health policy framework, thereby ameliorating the overall health of young individuals in the long term. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between children's oral health behaviour s and Oral Health-Related Quality of Life in the capital governorate, Kuwait. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 607 children aged 12–14 years, randomly selected from schools in Kuwait Capital Region. A validated Oral Health Behaviour s and OHRQoL Child Perception Questionnaires (CPQ12-14) was used to collect the data. Chi-square, t-tests, and ANOVA were used to examine the association between oral behaviour s and children's OHRQoL. Results: About 52.2% of participants were males and the overall response rate was 93.8%. The mean ± SD for total OHRQoL impact was 3.1 ± 0.58, while the total mean for individual domains- for oral symptoms, functional limitations, emotional well-being and social well-being were 2.89 ± 0.63, 2.89 ± 0.72, 3.1 ± 0.91 and 3.4 ± 0.61, respectively. There was no significant difference in total OHRQoL impact score by frequency of last dental visit, flossing, use of mouth rinse or chewing gum (p > 0.05) but for the overall OHRQoL, frequency of soft drink intake was the only significant predictor associated with 0.2-unit decrease (B = -0.207, 95% CI, p = 0.002) in total OHRQoL scores. Conclusions: High frequency of soft drink consumption was related to poorer OHRQoL. Behaviour changing interventions based on OHRQoL inferences coupled with clinical intervention are needed. Background: The assessment of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) evaluated the impact of an individual's oral health on the patient's physical and psychosocial status. We evaluated the association between subjective OHRQoL, measured with the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire, and unfavorable body mass index (BMI) (i.e., too high or too low) in a large population-based study on older adults from Southern Italy. Moreover, we assessed which of the seven OHIP-14 domains was the most strongly associated with an unfavorable BMI. Methods: We used data on a subpopulation of the Salus in Apulia Study, including 216 older adults. BMI < 18.4 kg/m2 and >30 kg/m2 were classified as unfavorable, while values between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2 were classified as ideal. Results: A higher OHIP-14 total score increased the risk of an unfavorable BMI (odds ratio (OR): 1.08, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.01–1.15). In the model adjusted for age, sex, education, hypertension, carbohydrate consumption, and alcohol consumption, this finding was confirmed with a higher OHIP-14 total score increasing the risk of an unfavorable BMI (OR: 1.10, 95% CI: 1.01–1.22), and higher age linked to a decreased risk of an unfavorable BMI (OR: 0.89, 95% CI: 0.82–0.97). In a random forest regression model, the most important predictive domains/sub-scales of OHIP-14 in the mean decrease in the Gini coefficient for unfavorable BMI were, in order of decreasing importance, physical pain, functional limitation, psychological discomfort, physical disability, social disability, psychological disability, and handicap. Objective: Research on the relationships between acculturation, ethnic identity, and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQOL) among the U.S. Hispanic/Latino population is sparse. The aim of this study is to examine the association between acculturation, ethnic identity, and OHRQOL among 13,172 adults in the 2008-2011 Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL).Design: Participants self-reported their acculturation (immigrant generation, birthplace, residence in the U.S., language, and social acculturation), ethnic identity (sense of belonging and pride), and four OHRQOL measures. Key socio-demographic, behavioral, and oral health outcomes were tested as potential confounders.Results: Overall, 57% of individuals experienced poor OHRQOL in at least one of the domains examined. In multivariable analyses, some elements of higher acculturation were associated with greater food restriction and difficulty doing usual jobs/attending school, but not associated with pain or difficulty chewing, tasting, or swallowing. While sense of belonging to one's ethnic group was not associated with poor OHRQOL, low sense of pride was associated with food restriction. Socio-behavioral characteristics were significant effect modifiers.Conclusion: This study contributes to the understanding of the role of Hispanic/Latino's cultural factors in OHRQOL perception and can inform targeted strategies to improve OHRQOL in this diverse population.

Abstract Background Oral conditions remain a substantial population health challenge worldwide. Poor oral health affects the quality of life as a result of pain or discomfort, tooth loss, impaired oral functioning, disfigurement, missing school time, loss of work hours, and sometimes even death. This study assessed the magnitude of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) and oral hygiene status and associated factors among special needs school students in the Amhara region. Methods An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2020 to April 2021 in the Amhara Region, Ethiopia. A total of 443 randomly selected special needs students were included. A structured pretested interview-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Bivariable and multivariable ordinal logistic regression models were fitted to identify the factors associated with oral hygiene status. The statistical significance of differences in mean OHIP-14 scores was assessed using the Kruskal-Wallis equality-of-populations rank and Wilcoxon rank-sum tests. Variables with a p-value less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results Almost half 46.6% (95% CI: 42.1%, 51.4%) of the study participant had poor oral hygiene status. The median OHIP-14 score was 16 with an interquartile range from 14 to 20. The highest score was for functional limitation (mean: 1.45 (SD ± 0.70)) and the lowest score was for psychological disability (mean: 1.08 (SD ± 0.45)). Mother education, frequency of taking sugared foods, and the types of disabilities were significant predictors of the poor oral hygiene status of special needs students in the Amhara region. The students living in Dessie had higher OHIP-14 scores compared to those living in other places (Gondar, Bahir Dar, and Debre Markos). The students who never brush their teeth had lower OHIP-14 scores than those who brush sometime and once a day. Whereas, students affiliated with the orthodox religion had lower OHIP-14 scores compared to those affiliated with all other religions (Catholic, Muslim, and Protestant). Conclusion A substantial amount of students with a disability had poor oral hygiene. The OHIP-14 scores indicated poor oral health-related quality of life. The study found that maternal education, frequency of taking sugared foods, and the types of disabilities were statistically significant factors associated with oral hygiene status.

Objective: Due to the consideration that oral/dental health is an important part of general health, well-being, and an individual’s quality of life, the need for appropriate instruments assessing oral health-related quality of life is emphasized. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Oral health-related quality of life questionnaire consisting of 14 questions among the Macedonian language-speaking adults (OHIP-MAC 14). Material and methods: A total of 270 adults participated in the study. The reliability of the questionnaire was examined by testing the internal consistency and reproducibility (test-retest). The responsiveness of the instrument was tested by computing the pre-intervention and post-intervention OHIP-14 scores using the paired t-test followed by the determination of the effect-size. Methods: In this study, a total of 66 edentulous participants were included and divided into 3 groups of 22 each using simple random sampling. The average age of the participants was 24.62 years (SD = 10.67). The mean OHIP-5 score was 4.31 (SD =3.35). Oral health-related quality of life differed significantly by smoking history, history of alcohol consumption, work status, economic pressure, self-rated oral health status, daily brushing frequency, dental caries condition, and whether they take the initiative to learn about oral health. Multivariate analysis found that the self-rated oral health status and work status were significantly associated with the OHIP scores. The retired people and those with poor self-rated oral health displayed poor OHRQoL.Conclusion: In general, dental patients’ oral health needs to be improved, the majority of patients reported practicing poor oral health behaviors, among which the retired population and hose with poor self-rated oral health showed poor OHRQoL. Aim: The current study assessed the clinical characteristics of patients suffering from Behcet's disease (BD)‐associated oral ulcers and investigated the effect of these oral ulcers on the oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL). Methods: This study included BD patients suffering from active oral ulcers, defined by the revised International Criteria for BD (ICBD) criteria. We collected BD and oral ulcers characteristics. The oral ulcer activity index and OHRQoL were measured by composite index (CI) and Oral Health Impact Profile‐14 (OHIP‐14), respectively. Results: Genital and ocular manifestations were the most frequent. Ocular manifestations were the main diagnostic manifestation. The mean age of BD diagnosis and first oral ulcer appearance were 32.15 ± 8.96 and 29.62 ± 9.04, respectively. Minor oral ulcers were more frequent; solitary or multiple. CI revealed that pain was more severe than functional disability. OHIP‐14 showed that patients suffered more often from pain and difficulties in eating. Patients reported feeling tense, being irritable, doing usual job with difficulty, and having less satisfying life. Conclusion: BD‐associated oral ulcers lead to poor quality of life. Female gender, multiple ulcers, and buccal mucosa were associated with more severe pain and functional disability as well as poorer quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To evaluate the QoL before and after prosthetic rehabilitation of partial mandibulectomy patients based on the type of surgery, effects of radiation, the type of prosthesis, and to enlist their outcome on the rehabilitation. Literature search as per PICO format was carried out within a time range from January 2000 to June 2021. The review followed PRISMA guidelines and registered with the PROSPERO(CRD42021258472). The focus question was established as per the PICO format (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome). The population involved partial mandibulectomy individuals with prosthetic rehabilitation as an intervention. The outcome, quality of life (QoL), was compared with the pre and post partial mandibulectomy patients rehabilitated with a prosthesis. The search yielded 367 articles and based on the search criteria only 7 articles were suitable for qualitative analysis. Marginal resection of the mandible is less aggressive than segmental resection which provided function, phonation, and esthetics at acceptable levels but the food mixing ability was reduced when resection is accompanied by glossectomy. However, the perceived chewing ability and OHRQoL were not accountable to the extent of surgical excision. An overall increase in the QoL on rehabilitation with acrylic prosthesis depicting satisfactory functionality with a considerable improvement in mastication, speech, and social life. QoL and Denture Satisfaction Index did not differ based on the number of implants in an implant overdenture prosthesis, but the chewing ability was improved. An increase in the number of remaining occlusal units improved the overall QoL. Restoration of the function, psychological comfort, and improvement in esthetics was significant in patients who underwent prosthetic rehabilitation. The QoL between conventional and implant prostheses was observed to be more similar, and the effect of remaining hard and soft tissue structures has a major influence on patient comfort signifying the influence of the extent of surgical excision. Abstract Background Compared to the healthy population, the psychological impact of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) on patients' lives could dramatically lower their oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). Our goal is to analyze OHRQoL in RA patients and look into the role of disease activity, dental health index, and Temporomandibular disorders score in maintaining their oral health. Methods In a cross-sectional comparative study, we compared a sample of 40 RA patients with 40 age- and gender-matched healthy controls in terms of oral health and OHRQoL. Temporomandibular disorders (TMD), number of decayed, filled, or missing teeth (DMFT), and Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) were among the oral health factors studied (OHIP-14). This study also looked at the link between the RA disease activity score (DAS28) and oral health factors. Objective: This study aimed to explore the influence of smile esthetics on the quality of life in a Han Chinese population. Methods: A total of 110 Han Chinese volunteers (52 males and 58 females, mean age 26.7 years) were recruited, and frontal images of their smiles were collected. A photoediting program was used to evaluate the following components of smile esthetics: the buccal corridor ratios, the angle between the interpupillary and commissural lines, the number of visible teeth, and width‐to‐length ratios of the maxillary central incisors. Oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) in these volunteers was evaluated using the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ) and Oral Health Impact Profile‐14 (OHIP‐14). Statistical analyses were performed by using Pearson's correlations and multiple linear regression (α = 0.05). Results: Compared to males, females scored higher on psychological impact (p = 0.017). Moreover, the number of visible teeth had a significant effect on social impact, psychological impact and esthetic concern (all p < 0.05). However, the buccal corridor ratios, the angle between the interpupillary and commissural lines, and the width‐to‐length ratios of the maxillary central incisor did not correlate with the OHRQoL (all p > 0.05). Conclusions: The number of visible teeth significantly influenced the quality of life in a Han Chinese population. Smile esthetics had a significantly greater psychological impact on females than males. Clinical Significance: This study highlights the effects of smile esthetics on the quality of life in a Han Chinese population. Female patients may raise more esthetic concerns in clinical practice. This rerandomized clinical trial evaluated the influence of soft liners (SL) on biting force, pain perception, and the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of complete denture wearers. Twenty-eight completely edentulous patients complaining of ill-fitting lower complete dentures were selected to participate in the study from the Dental Hospital, College of Dentistry, Taibah University. All patients received new complete maxillary and mandibular dentures; then they were randomly divided into two groups (14 patients in each group): the acrylic-based SL group, in which the mandibular denture was lined with an acrylic-based soft liner, and the silicone-based SL group, in which the mandibular denture was lined with a silicone-based soft liner. OHRQoL and maximum bite force (MBF) were assessed in this study before denture relining (baseline), then at one month and three months after relining. The finding showed that both treatment modalities significantly improved the OHRQoL of included patients at one-month and three-month periods compared to baseline records (i.e., dentures before relining) with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05). However, there is no statistical difference between groups at the baseline, one-, and three-month follow-up periods. Regarding maximum biting force, when acrylic-based SL is compared to silicone-based SL, there is no statistical difference between groups at baseline (75 ± 31 and 83 ± 32 N) and one-month follow-up periods (145 ± 53 and 156 ± 49 N); however, after three months of function, the silicone-based group recorded 166 ± 57 N statistically significant high biting force compared to the acrylic-based group that recorded 116 ± 47 N (p < 0.05). Permanent soft denture liners positively affect maximum biting force, pain perception, and OHRQoL more than conventional dentures. The primary objective of the present study was to investigate the dimensional structure of the OHIP-14 in a sample of elderly Norwegians. A secondary objective was to describe associations between the exposed OHIP-14 dimensions and additional self-report oral health-related variables to assess the dimensions' criterion validity. A survey questionnaire including the OHIP-14 and additional self-report oral health-related measures was completed by 325 home-dwelling Norwegians aged 70+. Exploratory factor analysis was used to investigate the dimensional structure of the OHIP-14 in this sample. Bivariate correlations were used to describe associations between the exposed OHIP-14 dimensions and additional self-report oral health-related variables. Three dimensions named psychosocial impacts, oral function impacts and general function impacts were revealed. Convergent and discriminant validity of these dimensions were largely supported, and internal consistency reliability for each dimension was good. Statistically significant associations were found between the exposed dimensions and additional self-report oral health-related variables, supporting the dimensions' criterion validity. A three-dimensional structure of the OHIP-14 was exposed and validated in the present study sample. Since different aspects of oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) may be perceived and weighted differently in various populations, suggestions for future research include more profound investigations of the construct validity of the OHIP-14 and similar instruments assessing OHRQoL. Purpose: To assess the self-reported Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) among institutionalised patients in an alcoholic detoxification programme in northern Portugal.Materials and Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study using the Oral Health Impact Profile-49 (OHIP-49) was carried out in 300 individuals institutionalised for alcohol detoxification in withdrawal units. The seven OHIP-49 domain scores and three summary indicators were examined: 'Prevalence' (percentage of people reporting one or more of 49 items at least 'fairly often'), 'Extent' (number of impacts [items] reported at least 'fairly often') and 'Severity' (mean sum of the participants' OHIP score).Results: The sample comprised 83.3% males with a mean age of 44 ± 8.6 years and an abusive alcoholic consumption history of 21.2 ± 11.5 years. The results show a 'prevalence' of 62.4% (95% CI: 56.7%-67.7%), the mean 'extent' was 3.8 (95% CI: 3.2-4.5) impacts and the mean 'severity' level was 54.8 (95% CI: 49.9-59.7). 'Prevalence' was significantly and positively associated with patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), those with a higher estimated daily alcohol intake, who previously used hashish and who brushed their teeth after drinking alcohol. 'Extent' was higher among females, those with higher levels of education, patients with GERD, smokers, and those with a higher estimated daily alcohol consumption; it was negatively associated with not brushing teeth. 'Severity' was significantly and positively associated with female gender and smoking, and negatively associated with not brushing teeth.Conclusion: This population of alcohol-dependent patients undergoing an addiction rehabilitation programme presented a high prevalence of negative oral health impacts, but not a high extent or severity. Those with NRT ≤ 24, NT ≤ 14, and TOF < 330 N increased the risk of poor OHRQoL by 2.3 times (OR = 2.26, confidence interval [CI] 1.54–3.31), 1.5 times (OR = 1.45, CI 1.02–2.07), and 1.5 times (OR = 1.47, CI 1.06–2.04), respectively. In women, the association of NRT ≤ 24 with poor OHRQoL increased from OR of 2.3 to OR of 2.4, while, in men, the association of TOF < 330 N with poor OHRQoL increased from OR of 1.5 to OR of 3.2. Conclusion: Oral health indicators consisting of TOF, NRT, and NT were independently associated with poor OHRQoL among Korean elders. Gender modified the association of TOF and NRT. Preventive and/or curative management for keeping natural teeth and the rehabilitation of missing teeth to recover the occlusal force may be essential for reducing poor OHRQoL. This study assessed the prevalence of orthodontic treatment needs and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in 12–18-year-old adolescents and explored the association between OHRQoL and treatment needs, gender, education level and family income. A total of 243 participants with no prior history of orthodontic treatment were included in this cross-sectional study utilizing a standardized self-explanatory questionnaire and clinical examination. The questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part included the participants' demographics (age, gender, education level, economic status) and the second part contained the Arabic version of the oral health impact profile (OHIP)-14, which consists of 14 questions to assess the impact of the severity of malocclusion on routine activities. The clinical examination involved the dental health component (DHC) index of orthodontic treatment needs (IOTN). The outcome of the study showed that 46% of participants had little or no treatment needs, followed by 23.5% with borderline needs, and 30.5% with severe needs. Female participants had higher mean OHIP-14 scores (10.94 ± 8.17) compared to their male counterparts (8.44 ± 7.15), and the difference in the mean scores was significant (p = 0.015). The educational level did not significantly influence the mean OHIP-14 scores (p = 0.723), whereas the family income correlated negatively with the mean OHIP-14 scores. Participants with less family income had higher mean OHIP-14 scores (11.53 ± 8.67) compared to participants with high (8.22 ± 6.71) and average family income (10.68 ± 8.30). The mean OHIP-14 scores between the family income groups were statistically significant (p = 0.036). The overall OHIP-14 score of the participants was 9.67 ± 7.75. The need for orthodontic treatment is crucial among adolescents. It is recommended to have regular orthodontic consultations for adolescents and prompt referral for treatment to improve the OHRQoL. Aims: To investigate caregiver-reported dental care experiences and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of children and young people with cerebral palsy (CP)., Methods: Between May and August 2023, caregivers of children and young people from three Australian states were invited to complete questionnaires, including the Child Oral Health Impact Profile (COHIP-SF 19)., Results: Sixty-eight caregivers participated in the survey. Most children and young people had spastic CP (69.1%) with unilateral spasticity most common (51.1%). The COHIP-SF 19 average score was 51.9% ± 12.4, indicating moderate OHRQoL. Gender, communication, oral health daily routine, participation in dental exams and treatment, special arrangements needed to attend the practice, and urgent dental care due to pain or other problem(s) all significantly impacted OHRQoL (p < 0.05)., Conclusion: OHRQoL of children and young people with CP is moderately impacted, as indicated by the COHIP-SF 19 scores. Objective: Literature was systematically reviewed to determine the impact of tooth wear management on the Oral Health Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) amongst adult patients with tooth wear., Data: A protocol was developed, a priori (PROSPERO CRD42022343108) following the PRISMA guidelines. To assess risk of bias and certainty of evidence the RoB2-tool, JBI-tool, and GRADE were used., Sources: PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Embase and Web of Science were searched. The first search took place on 21.10.2022, subsequently updated in May 2024., Study Selection: Inclusion criteria were RCT's, quasi-RCT's, prospective- or retrospective-studies with adult patients with moderate to severe tooth wear, treated restoratively and/or with counseling and monitoring that were also assessed for OHRQoL during at least two time points. Exclusion criteria were, studies with children, OHRQoL only measured once, narrative and systematic reviews, conference abstracts, technical reports, consensus papers, and any other type of non-clinical study., Results: Six papers were included in this review. Overall, qualitative analysis revealed an increase in OHRQoL after restorative treatment, and no change in OHRQoL after one year of counseling and monitoring. Some studies showed a slightly negative effect on esthetics in the years post-treatment, and some of the dimensions of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP) did not change or demonstrated minor change only. For the RCT's, blinding of participants and operators was not possible, as the participants had an awareness of the treatment. For the non-RCT's, the primary issue was the lack of control, with a general high risk of bias., Conclusion: The provision of restorative treatment in patients with moderate to severe tooth wear frequently results in a positive impact on OHRQoL. Aim: To evaluate the impact of extending the anchorage surface of mandibular overdentures on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and degree of satisfaction (SD) of edentulous patients., Materials and Methods: Edentulous patients were randomly assigned to receive a mandibular overdenture with 2 interforaminal implants (Control) or, in addition, 2 extra-short (4-mm) implants distal to the mental foramen (Experimental), all splinted with a non-cantilevered bar. The Oral Health Impact Profile for Edentulous (OHIP-EDENT) questionnaire and a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) were used to measure OHRQoL and SD with treatment at 3- and 60-month follow-ups. Intraindividual comparisons at 3- and 60-months were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The Mann-Whitney U test was applied to compare different groups (Control vs. Experimental) at a significance level of 5 %., Results: The results for mandibular overdenture remained consistent during the 5-year follow-up period. However, the addition of implants in the posterior region to increase the anchorage surface (Experimental) had a smaller positive impact on the "Functional limitation" (p = 0.009), "Psychological disability" (p = 0.032) and "Overall score" (p = 0.036) dimensions of the OHIP-EDENT, as well as on the "Cleaning ability" domain (p = 0.018) of the VAS compared to the Control group., Conclusion: The addition of implants distally to the mental foramen to increase the anchorage surface did not significantly influence patient-centered outcomes when compared to the use of only 2 implants in an approach with anchorage limited to the interforaminal region., Clinical Trial Registration: The current study was not registered in a public database as required. Objective: To assess the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of adolescents in Northwest China, and to explore the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics, oral health-related behaviors and OHRQoL., Methods: A cross-sectional survey of adolescents aged 12-15 years in Shaanxi, Gansu province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of Northwest China was conducted by stratified cluster random sampling. Oral examinations were performed with World Health Organization (WHO) standards, and the condition of crowns and periodontal was recorded. Adolescents' oral health-related behaviors and OHRQoL were collected by questionnaire. Chi-square test and binary logistic regression analysis were used to examine the relationship., Results: A total of 7,648 subjects were included. The prevalence of low OHRQoL which defined as a score higher than 0, was 83.8%. A low OHRQoL was most prevalent in Gansu Province and least prevalent in Shaanxi Province. Younger (OR = 0.73, CI = 0.60-0.87), female (OR = 1.27, CI = 1.11-1.44), rural (OR = 1.44, CI = 1.21-1.72), and mother with less education (OR = 0.69, CI = 0.60-0.81) all showed statistically significant influence on teenagers' OHRQoL. From a behavior perspective, teens' OHRQoL was correlated with their frequency of sugar consumption (OR = 1.72, CI = 1.41-2.10), dental appointment rate (OR = 1.29, CI = 1.064-1.57), self-assessment of oral health (OR = 3.09, CI = 2.29-4.19), DMFT index (OR = 1.19, CI = 1.04-1.37), number of teeth calculus (OR = 1.20, CI = 1.01-1.43), and dental trauma (OR = 0.47, CI = 0.39-0.57) over the previous year; however, brushing their teeth was not statistically significant., Conclusions: Generally speaking, oral health-related behaviors-such as eating more sugary foods and scheduling dental appointments within the last year-have a significant negative impact on the quality of life of adolescents in Northwest China. Background: Only few studies have examined the impact of dental health on the quality of life of visually impaired children. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the relationships between oral health outcomes, socio-economic status, and oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) in visually impaired children aged 7–18 years. Methods: This study was conducted in special schools in Yogyakarta and Central Java Province. This study involved 70 visually impaired schoolchildren (aged 7–18 years; boys, 55.7% and girls, 44.3%). To investigate the oral health outcomes of caries, oral hygiene, and dental trauma, the Decayed, Missing, and Filled Permanent/Primary Teeth (DMFT/dmft) Index, Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified (OHI-S), and Traumatic Dental Injury Index were used. The Child Oral Health Impact Profile-Short Form 19 questionnaire was used to determine OHRQoL. Results: The mean DMFT Index and OHI-S scores were 4.8 ± 2.743 and 1.94 ± 0.84, respectively. Of the respondents, 22.9% had dental trauma. The Spearman correlation test showed no correlations between the mean OHRQoL score and DMFT/dmft score, no correlations between the mean OHRQoL and dental trauma, and no correlations between the mean OHRQoL and socio-economic status (P = 0.672, P = 0.551, and P = 0.465, respectively). The OHI-S score correlated with the OHRQoL score for the socio-emotional well-being domain (P = 0.031, r=−0.258). Conclusion: In the visually impaired children in this study, poor oral hygiene resulted in decreased OHRQoL. However, oral hygiene showed no significant relationships with dental trauma and socio-economic level, and caries showed no significant relationships with dental trauma and OHRQoL in these children.

Objective of work: It is unclear how long patients need to adapt to new dentures. This study assessed adaptation and five years of clinical use, comparing complete denture wearers (CDs) and mini-implant mandibular overdenture wearers opposing a maxillary CD ( MDI-OD), based on oral health reported quality of life (OHRQoL) and orofacial esthetics (OES). Material and Methods: A total of 36 subjects in the CD group (25 females) and 30 subjects in the MDI group (20 females) completed the 5-year study. All patients received new CDs, but in the MDI-OD group, four mini-implants were inserted interforaminally in the mandible before denture manufacture. Participants filled in the OHIP-EDENT and OES questionnaires one day after dentures’ delivery, on the 3 rd , 8 th , 15 th , 30 th day, and at the 1-, 3- and 5-year follow-up examinations. Statistical analysis comprised descriptive methods, X 2 test, independent t-test, Friedman, and Mann-Whitney test. Results and Conclusions: Both groups’ adaptation to new dentures was completed within a month. The MDI-OD group had significantly better OHRQoL in all follow-ups except for the 3 rd and 8 th day, probably due to soreness and pain, the reason why the MDI-OD group had limitation in functioning in the first days after new dentures’ delivery. Introduction-Dental caries is a multifactorial infectious microbial disease that affects 60-90% of school-aged children. It is a serious health issue in the majority of industrialised nations. Materials and Methods- A cross-sectional survey of school children was conducted to assess the relationship between dental caries and OHRQoL. The independent sample t-test was used to assess the relationship between the mean of C-OIDP dimensions and the prevalence of dental caries. Any p-value less than 0.05 were considered as significant. Results- Mean OIDP score for all dimensions (except eating) was higher in subjects with caries than in subjects without caries among rural schoolchildren. With the exception of eating, speaking, cleaning, working, and emotion, there was a statistically significant difference in OIDP scores between subjects with and without caries. (T-test independent). There is a lack of information regarding the oral health of the elderly population in Romania; only a few articles have been published about their edentulism, and there are no official data regarding the oral health, OHRQoL, and prosthodontic status of this population. The objective of this study was to assess the relationship between the essential functional qualities of removable partial dentures (RPD) and participants' oral-health-related wellbeing among an edentulous population from the N-E region in Romania using the OHIP-5-questionnaire. In total, 546 patients from Gr. T. Popa Iasi University were enrolled after following a set of sorting procedures. We used the Kruskal–Wallis test and the Mann–Whitney test to determine whether there were significant differences between the various groups of patients. For questions 1, 2, 3, and 5 of the OHIP, the null hypothesis was rejected, as there were statistically significant differences between the three groups. This study was limited to a specific group.
