There is an increased risk of workplace accidents for younger employees. Academic laboratories have demonstrated a higher prevalence of accidents. Occupational health and safety (OHS) education plays a central role in reducing the risk of accidents and aims to habituate safety behavior in educational settings. The current research aims to investigate the factors affecting students' safety behaviors using a knowledge-attitude-behavior model within stimulus-organism-response frameworks. A quantitative and non-experimental study involved sending an electronic questionnaire to 959 Indonesian vocational high school students who had undergone half of their learning process in a workshop that put them at risk of accidents. A structural equation model was conducted on the data which showed that all variables in the model were valid and reliable. Teachers' OHS leadership encourages students' safety knowledge, attitudes and behaviors. Positive and noteworthy benefits to students' safety knowledge, attitude and behaviour are demonstrated by peer safety behaviours as indicated by similar results. Among the predictors, OHS knowledge had the greatest influence on students' safety behavior. The current research findings provide evidence that supports the fact that student safety behavior follows the knowledge attitude behaviour model within the stimulus organism response framework.

This article explores key aspects of my professional doctorate (DProf) that focused on the construction of my professional identity as an occupational safety and health professional, using autoethnographic inquiry. It promotes the use of the portfolio as part of the assessment for professional doctorates, and other further and higher education qualifications. The article investigates how, using autoethnography, this can be used as part of the research process. It concludes with my reflections on how undertaking a DProf has been beneficial regarding the redefining of, and the construction of, my own professional identity.

The purpose of this project was to determine the extent to which physiotherapists affiliated to occupational health services undertake the full clinical audit cycle. A sample of convenience was used to select physiotherapists that were in attendance over two conference days. Those who verbally consented to take part were asked to complete a survey and place it in an envelope which was immediately sealed to maintain confidentiality of responses. The majority of physiotherapists undertook clinical audit practice (94%). The common frequency of clinical audits was annually (77%). Most physiotherapists did not contribute their clinical audit outcomes into any quality improvement initiatives (42%). Occupational health services should encourage physiotherapists affiliated to them to identify and link their outcomes into broader quality improvement initiatives so that the full audit cycle can be completed.

Snark is a form of verbal aggression that uses humor to diminish a victim. The present study explored predictors of U.S. teachers' use of snark in the classroom. Kindergarten-12th grade teachers (N = 516) self-reported on their social and emotional competencies (i.e., perspective taking, forgiveness, mindfulness, expressive suppression, and decision-making skills), experiences of occupational health and personal well-being (i.e., burnout, job satisfaction, depression, and life satisfaction) and snark use. Stepwise multilevel models indicated that teachers' social and emotional competencies, and subsequently, their occupational health and well-being, explained significant portions of the variance in snark use. Specifically, teachers with greater perspective taking skills reported less frequent snark use, and those who used expressive suppression reported more frequent snark use. Burnout, job satisfaction, depression, and life satisfaction were all positively associated with greater snark use. Results are described in relation to research on adult social and emotional competencies, teachers' occupational health and well-being, and teachers' conflict management strategies. This study sets the stage for future research to investigate the effects of teachers' snark use on student outcomes.

Embedding musicians' occupational health training in music education curricula is widely recommended due to the well-documented high prevalence of performance-related health problems (PRHPs) among musicians across their lifespan. A scoping review was conducted to examine the range of evidence from implementations of musicians' health education programs, regarding the maintenance of hearing, musculoskeletal, psychological, and vocal health, as well as injury prevention strategies to minimize the risk of PRHP. Eligible sources of evidence included published and unpublished studies reporting occupational health education programs (which may have incorporated information on physical or psychological health, exercise, or somatic movement training) implemented with pre-tertiary and tertiary music students and teachers. Studies reporting stand-alone psychological health education were excluded. Key characteristics from included studies were extracted and charted. Data charts outline commonalities across the reported results, including physical, psychological, educational, and behavioral change outcome measures. Out of 46 records included for data extraction, 35 reported programs with tertiary-aged music students, seven reported programs with pre-tertiary-aged music students, two reported programs with music teachers, and two reported systematic reviews. Reported benefits from this research with both pre-tertiary and tertiary music students suggest that musicians' health education and injury prevention strategies reduce self-reported playing-related pain and music performance anxiety. However, future implementation studies need to address identified challenges such as effective behavior change and the enablers and barriers to the long-term adoption of strategies for optimal music performance and health outcomes. This review highlights the need for further research into designing and embedding musicians' health education into all music training settings, including more implementations with pre-tertiary music students, as well as training to support the professional development needs of instrumental and vocal teachers.

There is a critical need to address educator health and well-being, yet only an average of 31% of schools offer workplace health and wellness promotion programs. As part of the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace -- a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Center of Excellence for Total Worker Health® through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) -- the Total Teacher Health (TTH) research project is comprised of a multidisciplinary team (including school psychologists, occupational psychologists, epidemiologists, and public health scientists) with the goal of understanding and addressing educator stress and workplace health and safety. The TTH team has developed the Educator Well-Being Program (EWP), which aims to improve educators' well-being through a participatory approach that addresses the root causes of poor well-being and creates changes from within the school. The EWP is currently being implemented and evaluated as part of a 5-year research grant in elementary schools within two school districts in Connecticut. Leveraging their distinctive proficiency and capabilities, school psychologists are ideally positioned to spearhead and facilitate the EWP effectively. Though the EWP has demonstrated improvements within the TTH intervention schools, the fact that school psychologists face their own well-being issues should not be minimized. Effective communication, clear expectations, regular feedback, and cultivating an inclusive environment are components of the EWP that have alleviated relational barriers.

This study explores journalism students' responses to hazards and hostility in the profession within a Safety of Journalists course. The research uses focus group interviews, field notes, study diaries, written tasks, and Teams' chat logs of 11 students. Students' reactions to the hazards highlight the importance of awareness for finding solutions and developing resilience. Proposed solutions include fostering self-assurance, enhancing interpersonal communication, setting boundaries to prevent burnout, and recognizing the significance of workers' rights. However, finding some solutions was hindered by students' experiences of media organizations neglecting worker well-being.

Access to dangerous goods training for firefighters in remote areas is limited for financial and logistical reasons. Virtual reality (VR) is a promising solution for this challenge as it is cost-effective, safe, and allows to simulate realistic scenarios that would be dangerous or difficult to implement in the real world. However, rigorous evaluations of VR training tools for first responders are still scarce. In this exploratory user study, a simple VR training tool involving two dangerous goods scenarios was developed. In each scenario, trainees learned how to safely approach a jackknifed truck with a trailer and how to collect and communicate information about the transported materials. The tool was tested with a group of 24 professional firefighter trainees (n = 22) and instructors (n = 2), who each completed the two training scenarios. The main goal of the study was to assess the usability of the VR tool in the given scenarios. Participants provided feedback on cybersickness, perceived workload, and usability. They also filled out a knowledge test before and after the VR training and gave feedback at the end of the study. The VR tool recorded task completion duration and participants' navigation and use of tools events. Overall, the tool provided good usability, acceptance, and satisfaction. However, a wide range in individuals' responses was observed. In addition, no post-training improvement in participants' knowledge was found, likely due to the already high level of knowledge pre-training. Future directions for improving the VR tool, general implications for other VR training tools, and suggestions for future research are discussed.

This article reviews the elevated prevalence and complex nature of voice complaints among teachers, highlighting their profound impact on students' academic performance, teachers' well-being, and overall school productivity. The text discusses the significance of teachers as occupational voice users, provides statistics on the prevalence, summarizes work-related factors and occupational policy contributing to the issue, and presents a comprehensive approach to intervention. This article facilitates recognizing and addressing work-related voice disorders among teachers while enhancing communication between educators and healthcare professionals.

Organizations, employees, and individuals suffer from adverse outcomes due to a lack of occupational health, impacting everything from organizational performance to psychological and physical health, and they are a prevalent phenomenon for various jobs, including teaching. The aims of the current study are two-fold: to determine the state of occupational health (i) and its structure among 470 Turkish teachers at all school levels, including 338 female teachers (71.9%) and 132 male teachers (28.1%), specifically in terms of stress, the depressed mood at work, and organizational commitment variables (ii). A structural model for occupational health is developed and examined through the AMOS 22 program. The findings of this study indicate that stress predicts a negative impact on organizational commitment (-0.42), whereas it has a positive effect on depressed mood at work (0.74). Additionally, organizational commitment is shown to have a negative impact on depressed mood at work (-0.15). Overall, policymakers, school administrators, and leaders should prioritize strategies to reduce stress, create a healthier work environment, and address the need for proactive efforts to promote a positive emotional climate that improves teacher occupational health. Additionally, further research should explore the other factors that enable to prevent and reduce depression mood at work.

This study articulates the concepts of sustainability and work safety to understand how safe working practices enable knowledge in the practice of sustainability. Anchored in the lenses of the learning process of practiced-based studies, we conducted a case study of qualitative nature in a forest harvest operation of a Brazilian company with sustainability in the core of its business strategy. We adopted as collection tools in-depth observation, semi-structured interview, and documental research, which were assessed by the thematic analysis of narratives. As results, we identified that the learning process of sustainability occurs in this context in a combination of institutional mechanisms and practices located at the occupational communities. Among those, the safe working practices indicate being capable of enabling the knowledge in practice of the systemic and integrative perspective, carefulness, responsibility, and look to the future, reflecting the assumptions contained in the ideal of sustainability. We also verified that, with the practices, this group has been establishing alliances, building common concepts, and producing and reproducing practices that change the way of learning sustainability.

Petroleum products are very flammable and can ignite at extremely low temperatures if exposed to an open flame source or not handled appropriately. Individuals who handle petroleum products in the petroleum industry and fuelling stations are known as "petrol station attendants". The study was a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out among petrol station attendants working in a filling station owned by independent petroleum marketers in Sapele metropolis of Delta state from November 2022 to January 2023. The assessment was done with an adapted instrument for data collection, a 12-item questionnaire titled "Chemistry of Petroleum Products: Assessment of Fuel Attendants Knowledge around Sapele Metropolis". Most petrol attendants within Sapele metropolis fell within the age range of 18-35 years, predominantly 22-28 years being the highest with a respondent of 16 constituting 39% representation. There were more females working within Sapele as petrol attendants with 26 females out of 41 respondents representing 63% of the total sample population. About 51.21% of respondents did science or chemistry-related courses but their skills were limited, 58.53% of petrol attendants which was the highest proportion per qualification had Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) qualification, and those with a higher degree (National Diploma and Bachelor of Science) had a combined total of 14 respondents (34.1%), 48.78% of respondents which was below average were given chemistry and safety training of petroleum product by their employers, about 80.48% of respondents had managed to learn either by convention or practice safety techniques and were using safety protocol when handling petroleum product. 87.80% knew nothing about chemistry quality control tests such as octane rating, flash point, pour point, and smoke point. The percentage of science oriented graduate who work as petrol attendant in Sapele metropolis is very low. Hence, the study recommends science expertise with regards to chemistry knowledge in relation to safety practices among fuel attendants.

Purpose: Preventive ergonomics is essential to protecting the health and safety of workers as is recognizing human variability. The purpose of this paper is to describe a Unity-based application designed for three-dimensional postural analysis and visualizations using motion capture data. Integration with virtual reality (VR) technologies allows the user to be immersed in the simulated working environment without the need for a physical prototype. The proposed application aims to facilitate the application of ergonomic principles in workplace design and assessment for a proactive, participatory and inclusive approach to worker well-being. Design/methodology/approach: The authors developed an application that leverages motion capturing techniques and VR technologies and aims to support the analysts in the ergonomic assessment of physical prototypes as well as future workplaces. An innovative postural prediction module helps the analyst understanding what postures different users are likely to assume in the interaction with the workplace from a single data record. Findings: The functionalities of the proposed application are illustrated on some case studies, presenting how different information is made available and can support workplace analysts and designers in an industrial context. Originality/value: This paper provides insights into the experience and research carried out by an automotive company in the application of wearable sensors and VR to support a proactive and participatory approach to workplace ergonomics.

Background: While more than 2.5 million U.S. high students worked in 2020, data to assess how work affects this group are sparse. To facilitate such research, a set of occupational safety and health questions for inclusion on the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) and other youth-focused surveys was developed. Methods: Survey questions about occupational experiences of young workers were adapted from other surveys or created de novo. Key audiences were engaged to define priority topic areas and develop draft questions, which were further refined through cognitive interviews with working youth. Results: Twenty-one resulting questions spanned multiple work-related topics: employment status; health outcomes; psychosocial exposures; and safety climate. Cognitive testing revealed that youth (aged 14-19) had difficulty with temporal concepts. Some difficulties reflected the propensity of youth to engage in multiple, online, and informal jobs. During 3 rounds of interviews, questions were adjusted to better reflect youth employment circumstances and language. Four states added at least 1 work-related question to their 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey questionnaire, and the full set of questions has been disseminated to federal agencies and partners. Conclusion: Including tailored questions about employment in surveys of youth will facilitate occupational health surveillance for this group. Analysis of resulting data can help to close knowledge gaps, provide current prevalence data, inform policy, and allow development of focused prevention and intervention strategies to reduce adverse outcomes among young workers.

The current study examined the mediating role of perceived risk of COVID-19 and the moderating role of hope in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job-seeking anxiety. 812 advanced undergraduate students participated in this investigation (M[subscript age] = 21.95, SD[subscript age] = 1.37; 69% female). Results indicated that intolerance of uncertainty is positively linked to job-seeking anxiety. Perceived risk of COVID-19 mediated the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job-seeking anxiety. Hope moderated the direct path and the indirect path from perceived risk of COVID-19 to job-seeking anxiety. Specifically, the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job-seeking anxiety became weaker for high-hope students. The results indicated that intolerance of uncertainty and perceived risk of COVID-19 serves as risk factors, while hope serves as a protective factor for job-seeking anxiety. Interventions, which reduce these two risk factors and increase this protective factor, might help to protect advanced undergraduate students from job-seeking anxiety.

This article discusses the nationwide shortage of sports officials, best practices and solutions, and how current physical educators, coaches and SHAPE America members in general can help address the shortage and educate youths on the value of sportsmanship.

Process safety remains an area of importance in chemical engineering education. Process safety incidents are tied to individuals' choices that require exercising judgement in weighing competing criteria. While safety is paramount, we need to acknowledge the competing criteria practitioners need to consider (budget, leadership, personal relationships, plant production, and time). Our work examines the relationship between individuals' beliefs versus behavior in process safety decisions, and explores use of a process safety game as an intervention.

Contributing factors to occurrences of workplace violence (WPV) vary based on the setting and clientele. While no workplace can be guaranteed free from potential violence, research shows that agencies and creative arts therapists (CATs) can use preventative measures to increase workplace safety. To illustrate the impact of WPV, three CATs share their experiences of being assaulted by clients and, based on best practices, eight protective factors are presented. These factors are: staff relationships, culture of safety, clear reporting and communication, environmental safety, training, duty to protect, resilience, and follow up.

Purpose: The overall quality of education may be compromised due to the limited availability of safety and security (S&S) courses in professional teacher education. The purpose of this paper is to identify the main safety-related training needs of a higher education institution, which may provide insights for improving the quality of education from a safety perspective. Design/methodology/approach: This study included 17 interviews with students and staff experienced in S&S due to their professions. The study also used Laurea University of Applied Sciences' (Laurea) S&S reports, which have a variety of S&S events from 28 October 2020 to 20 December 2021. Both data sets were analyzed using qualitative theory-driven content analysis. Findings: Safety risks at schools are mainly constructed through the negative psychosocial atmosphere and lack of safety knowledge and/or skills. There is a need for safety training covering key topics such as crime prevention, violence, fire safety and understanding inclusion and diversity. Practical implications: The study proposes a new risk-based training and development management model for school management and the planning of training activities. Social implications: The analysis offers valuable perceptions of the S&S challenges of educational institutions, which can be used as a starting point to enhance overall educational quality and safety. Originality/value: This paper provides a novel way of improving the safety of education by approaching training needs from a risk assessment perspective.

Using a mixed research design, the overall objective of this study is to investigate the profiles of child labour in Ethiopia's districts of Raya-Kobo and Angot. The study's specific objectives are to examine types of activities and prevalence of child labour, to identify the children's working contexts, and to evaluate the extent of harm children face in workplaces. The study hypothesizes the existence of significant variations in the profiles of child labour (activity types, prevalence rates, settings, and level of harm to children) as a result of several circumstances. While survey methodology was used to collect primary data from 431 randomly selected respondents, desk review and document analysis were also used to gather secondary data. The sampling procedures used include multi-stage purposive and systematic random sampling. Descriptive and inferential (Ordered Probit Regression model) methods of data analysis are utilized to analyze the data. The results of the descriptive analysis demonstrate a high incidence and magnitude of child labour, as well as children's early entry to work. The regression analysis reveals children's exposure to high levels of harm at work, which is directly exacerbated by household age, income diversification, land fragmentation, livestock number, shocks, and the predicted value of remittances. Contrarily, access to rural transportation, household heads' education level, cart ownership, and family size reduce children's harm extent while working. The study highlights the need to design strategies for age-appropriate work to protect children from hazardous and high-intensity activities, undertake community awareness campaigns about the impact of child labour on children, and strengthen local stakeholders' capacity. Additionally, connecting rural areas and farmers' croplands to towns or major routes via repaired or new roads would be beneficial.

Academic Medical Centers (AMC) are unique healthcare resources that offer services to their local communities. As societal priorities shift, AMCs are identifying approaches to practice community engagement. Although many examples of AMCs exist in the literature, few have targeted resources for specific health topics like occupational health. This case study identifies examples of community engagement from AMCs around the U.S. It also offers a unique perspective of community engagement from the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH), housed within the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine at the University of Utah. This center is one of eighteen National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Education and Research Centers (ERC). We use the Community Engagement Continuum to consider community engagement across various degrees of relationship between the public and AMCs, including outreach, consulting, involvement, collaboration, and shared leadership. Continuing education, course work connecting students with the community, and multiorganization research projects are approaches RMCOEH uses to engage with communities. Although there are many ways for AMCs like RMCOEH to serve the community, there are opportunities for AMCs to improve community engagement efforts through cultural shifts and community participation in projects. We explore such opportunities specifically for RMCOEH.

School principals are responsible for occupational health and safety (OHS) issues that may arise, and they play a critical role in ensuring that health and safety procedures in schools. The purpose of this study is to determine how occupational health and safety practices in schools can be improved with reference to the views of school principals. Twenty-one principals from kindergarten, primary, secondary and high schools participated in this qualitative research. The research data were collected via official documents and semi-structured interviews. Document and content analyses were utilized to examine the data. At the end of the research, the findings show that the OHS activities for school administrations are listed under the following headings: 'Occupational health and safety services', 'training and information, 'emergency drills', 'projects and activities, 'chemical waste and zero waste project', 'audit, guidance and supervision activities', 'health observation', 'precautions, measurements, safety and periodic checks', 'notifications', and 'OHS module'. The expectations of school administrations from senior management for the development of OHS practices address budget/financial support; directing the solutions to the school; the appointment of an OHS specialist, health and security personnel; more training, seminars, audit and technical support; cooperation among institutions. However, school administrators are expected to properly follow work and operations, assess risks and take action, and use school sources or apply for funds. The research results reveal important insights to achieve high standards of school health and safety by concluding with implications for successful school leadership, and recommendations for practice and research.

Apart from the regulatory compliance required by the law, the literature suggests that genuine occupational health and safety (OHS) management that cares for workers can bring tangible benefits that extend to several business objectives. Also, studies demonstrate promising gains from adapting an integrated management concept to enable different management systems to share and exchange information and practices and mutually realise the overall organisational mission and vision. The desktop review of 34 OHS and 177 business and management courses in Australia revealed none-to-little reference to integrated management in these degrees and considerable under-representation of OHS in business and management courses. Although further research is warranted to investigate reasons for the findings of this study and extend it to other countries, its results can raise awareness of the opportunities to enrich curricula and arm future generations of OHS professionals and business managers with the knowledge and skills of an inclusive and balanced consideration of various organisational objectives.

The outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdown measures that were widely implemented in response to the pandemic forced many of the forms of engagement and activities promoted by student affairs and services staff among students at universities to be curtailed or transformed -- at first, so that they entailed no interpersonal contact and later so that they took place in line with health and safety protocols restricting contact. The moment of crisis required decisive, innovative leadership from members of staff as they sought to help meet the needs of students who were now deprived of the benefits of the psycho-social, intellectual and physical engagements that had been provided by in-person contact on highly interactive campuses. Accordingly, the student affairs and services staff at North-West University in South Africa collaborated with students, leveraging their creative potential to reach out, create and implement new student support systems and programmes through structured activities that could take place online and in the form of strictly controlled contact sessions. In this context, two new initiatives were established at the university: a student behaviour project which sought to deploy student peers to promote adherence to COVID-19 occupational health and safety protocols among the student population; and a raft of psycho-social support interventions, including webinars, cultural and sporting activities, and residence activities which promoted student welfare including by helping students to manage the realities of the pandemic more effectively. This reflective article, authored by two of the North-West University student affairs and services staff responsible for launching and leading these initiatives, considers the kinds of collaboration among university staff and with students that informed the establishment and implementation of these projects. Focusing particularly on how these projects may have contributed towards increased levels of social capital among the students at the university at a moment of crisis, with a view to extract lessons that may be learned for the proactive development of student-support measures under similar conditions in future.

Due to the inherently dangerous environment in the maritime industry, it is an essential aspect for the human resources in the industry to have a high level of knowledge, skill and competence. Therefore, maritime education and training needs to be structured as a unique instructional design model that will ensure the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and competencies at the highest level. In this paper, we develop a new approach using an axiomatic design methodology extended with fuzzy set theory to define the suitable instructional design model for maritime education and training. Accordingly, we aimed to establish a decision support system for instructional designers at an institutional level and instructors at the individual level who focus on instructional design, development, and processes. The demonstration of the proposed approach is conducted for basic offshore safety induction and emergency training which is one of the compulsory training courses for people who already work or will work on offshore facilities.

The aim of this research is to design a system that will raise awareness among vocational education students about occupational health and safety and the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) systems into the application/concept. Simply, projected on the work force surface, the AR system warns the students as they perform actions that pose a risk, need caution and may result in accidents. Therefore, by repetitive warnings, students learn the faultiness of actions in a faster pace and develop and insightful awareness. The research involves a literature review and two experiments studies in Çinarli Vocational and Technical High School (CVHS) with high school and Dokuz Eylül University Mechanical Engineering (DEU ME) students. A system is designed according to the findings from these studies. As a result, students learnt to be more cautious, and the number of mistakes they make decreased. This will result in decrease in the number of occupational accidents, deaths and financial loss. The project presents an innovative method applicable both to the industry and the training a qualified work force. The evolution of technology has changed the way how humans communicate in the current time. With the advancement of technology, instructions and messages could be delivered in a split second. Even though life is made easy with technology, some information and details should be delivered face-to-face in order to avoid communication breakdown. This study was carried out to determine the language needs by foreign workers working at construction sectors in Malaysia. The study created an overview on how communication affects productivity in completing tasks on time. The results from this study led to a development of language modules for foreign workers training. An online survey was carried out through social media on construction site supervisors around Malaysia in getting their feedback related to the origin of their co-workers and the importance of English language as medium of instruction for task fulfilment. Results indicated that language barriers had affected productivity in the sector of construction in Malaysia. Besides, results also noted that cross-cultural differences had put foreign workers at risk and caused wastage to time and manpower.

Purpose: Teachers are occupational voice users with significant vocal demand. This study examined if a vocal hygiene program could mitigate the effects of occupational vocal demand in primary school teachers across 1 month. Method: Sixty female teachers participated, with 30 in an experimental group receiving vocal hygiene education plus daily home practice for 1 month and 30 in a control group with no intervention. Their vocal changes across the month were quantified with (a) acoustic measures on fundamental frequency (f[subscript o]), vocal intensity, jitter and shimmer, harmonics-to-noise ratio, and smoothed cepstral peak prominence and (b) Voice Handicap Index (VHI-10) and Vocal Fatigue Index (VFI) scores. Results: Analysis of covariance showed significantly larger changes (significant decreases) in conversational f[subscript o] and in jitter for the experimental group relative to the control group. Post hoc pairwise comparisons following repeated-measures analysis of variance showed significant decreases in conversational f[subscript o] and in jitter across the month for the experimental group. No significant differences in VHI-10 and VFI scores were found between the groups. Conclusions: Vocal demand-related changes in acoustic measures could be partially mitigated with the vocal hygiene program. Future studies with a more refined intervention program and more long-term follow-up are recommended to better understand the long-term benefits of vocal hygiene programs on primary school teachers.

Equity for students includes access to a healthy teacher workforce across all school settings. This study sought to disentangle the role of racial/ethnic (in)congruence in teacher stress from school resources by using propensity score analysis to match Black, Hispanic, and White elementary teachers on individual, classroom, and school characteristics, and examining whether these matched teachers reported differences in stress outcomes when working in schools where the predominant student demography was either congruent or incongruent with their own. Data from the 2015-2016 National Teacher and Principal Survey was used to find propensity score matches among 7540 Black, Hispanic, and White elementary teachers. Black, Hispanic, and White teachers all reported stronger occupational health outcomes in higher-resourced, majority-White schools. Black and Hispanic teachers reported higher levels of occupational health outcomes than White teachers when teaching in under-resourced, majority-minority schools. These findings suggest important implications for teacher training and support, such as considering increased training and reflection opportunities on culturally responsive teaching, broadening policies that homogeneously categorize and aim to uniformly support "teachers of color," and examining the ways in which teacher identity uniquely informs their workplace experiences and may necessitate differentiated resources.

This research aimed to develop instructional media for occupational safety and health android-based for vocational schools. The second aim is to determine the feasibility of instructional media and student responses. The type of research is research and development (R&D) with the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation (ADDIE) method, namely, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire with fourth scales. Data collection used an assessment questionnaire for two experts and 103 users. Research data analysis techniques used quantitative descriptive analysis. This study's results have produced products in the form of android-based instructional media for Occupational Safety and Health. In this study, we designed and developed an application called Zerosicks for mobile devices to help students learn occupational safety and health principles. The results of testing for all features and navigation work well and under their functions. The assessment results by content experts, media experts, and students as users indicate that this media has a very decent level of eligibility. Suggestions for product development are to add videos to the media, provide selected music, and add discussion forums for users.

Bangladesh has been experiencing serious environmental degradation for last few years specially for textile and apparel industries. The objective of this research is to evaluate the level of environmental education of outgoing textile undergraduate students and their perception about the environmental degradation. A questionnaire was developed and administered to textile outgoing and 1st semester students to assess their environmental concern, knowledge and responsibility. Two sample mean test was applied to differentiate the level of understanding of these two groups of students. Binary logistic regression was used to identify the most potential source to build up the consciousness among the students about pollution. The multiple regression analysis was done to assess the comparative role of knowledge and concern for showing the responsibility towards the environment. The result indicated that the level of understanding of outgoing students on environmental sustainability is not up to the mark, there is potential for further enhancing environmental learning. It revealed that responsibility toward the environment is directly proportional to knowledge and concern. Findings also suggested that the university and the electronic media have a significant role to increase the environmental awareness among the students.

The safety culture plays an important role in reducing deaths and injuries in many sectors and educational institutions in developing countries. In this study, it was aimed to determine the occupational health and safety (OHS) course, which is taught as a compulsory course in Istanbul Aydin University before taking the course at the beginning of the term and after taking the course at the end of the term, the difference in occupational safety knowledge level and the level of perception of occupational safety culture. A total of 281 questionnaires were deemed valid. For the research, two different surveys were used to measure. Considering the results, there are positive differences in the knowledge level of the students before and after taking the OHS lesson. It has been determined that the safety culture does not change according to demographic information. OHS should be taught to every student in the universities.

Teachers are one of the professional classes most vulnerable to emotional instability and fatigue associated with their professional activity. The present study is a systematic review about burnout in Portuguese teachers and has two main objectives. The first is to understand the state of the art of the burnout phenomenon in Portuguese teachers from basic education to secondary education. The second is to analyze the types of variables considered in the exploration and understanding of the burnout phenomenon, from a three-dimensional structure: personal, organizational, and classroom. Results show that the set of personal and organizational variables are the most frequently analyzed in studies on burnout in teachers. Nevertheless, the results of the analyzed studies are unclear and inconsistent, highlighting the need for further studies that allow to clarify the role of different variables on burnout in Portuguese teachers. More studies are needed to determine the actual extent of burnout and, consequently, to design educational and psychological interventions to support teachers.

An occupational health program and personnel safety are essential components of an animal care and use program. This paper describes the development and implementation of an online occupational health risk assessment and screening process for personnel involved in the animal care and use program at the University of South Alabama. The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a change from pre-pandemic operating procedures to reduce public health risks to personnel and provided an opportunity to convert from a paper-based process to an online platform powered by REDCap. The transition from a paper to digital format provided opportunities to create efficiencies and standardized best practices in screening, evaluating, and monitoring health risks assessments. The database and forms developed in partnership between the Occupational Health Program and the REDCap@USA team are enabling more streamlined and efficient data collection to support program and regulatory requirements within the institution. Academic institutions and non-profit organizations interested in developing or enhancing online health risk assessments and monitoring may consider utilizing REDCap and adapting the OHP process described in this article.

It is aimed in this study to examine the job satisfaction and virus contagion concerns of music teachers in terms of certain variables during the COVID-19 process. Based on the correlational and causal comparison method in the research, music teachers' job satisfaction and contagion concerns during the COVID-19 process were compared according to the variables of gender, age and type of school they work. Besides, the relationship between music teachers' job satisfaction and contagion anxiety was explained with relational screening method. The sample of the study consists of 236 music teachers working in Konya, Karaman and Aksaray and determined by random sampling method. Minnesota Job Satisfaction and COVID-19 Anxiety scales were used to collect the research data. According to the research findings, job satisfaction of music teachers during the COVID-19 process differs according to gender, age and school type. Also, a negative relationship was found between COVID-19 anxiety and job satisfaction. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made to increase the job satisfaction of music teachers and reduce their anxiety during the COVID-19 process.

Medical personnel need to learn occupational safety knowledge in clinical workplaces, not only to ensure their own safety, but also to further ensure patients safety. Based on Human-centered artificial intelligence (HAI) technology, this study will provide HAI-based occupational safety training system for two training topics, Needle Stick/Sharps Injury (NSSI) prevention and appropriate Clinical Waste Management (CWM). From April 2018 to December 2021, this clinical occupational safety HAI training is used by 342 medical personnel (doctors and non-doctors). This study aims to investigate the learning performance and effectiveness including decreasing anxiety and increasing mastering level of users. This study shows that, for the first-time and feel-friendly users of this HAI training system, not only can they achieve significant learning improvement, but they can also effectively decrease their anxiety and increase their mastery level of clinical work safety knowledge and skill. In terms of learning performance and effectiveness, this study found that doctors are significantly benefited by the HAI training system in contrast to non-doctors.
