Brain pathological changes linked with Alzheimer's disease (AD) can be measured with Neuroimaging. In the past few years, these measures are rapidly integrated into the signatures of Alzheimer disease (AD) with the help of classification frameworks which are offering tools for diagnosis and prognosis. Here is the review study of Alzheimer's disease based on Neuroimaging and cognitive impairment classification. This work is a systematic review for the published work in the field of AD especially the computer-aided diagnosis. The imaging modalities include 1) Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) 2) Functional MRI (fMRI) 3) Diffusion tensor imaging 4) Positron emission tomography (PET) and 5) amyloid-PET. The study revealed that the classification criterion based on the features shows promising results to diagnose the disease and helps in clinical progression. The most widely used machine learning classifiers for AD diagnosis include Support Vector Machine, Bayesian Classifiers, Linear Discriminant Analysis, and K-Nearest Neighbor along with Deep learning. The study revealed that the deep learning techniques and support vector machine give higher accuracies in the identification of Alzheimer’s disease. The possible challenges along with future directions are also discussed in the paper.

Globally, gastrointestinal (GI) tract diseases are on the rise. If left untreated, people may die from these diseases. Early discovery and categorization of these diseases can reduce the severity of the disease and save lives. Automated procedures are necessary, since manual detection and categorization are laborious, time-consuming, and prone to mistakes. In this work, we present an automated system for the localization and classification of GI diseases from endoscopic images with the help of an encoder–decoder-based model, XceptionNet, and explainable artificial intelligence (AI). Data augmentation is performed at the preprocessing stage, followed by segmentation using an encoder–decoder-based model. Later, contours are drawn around the diseased area based on segmented regions. Finally, classification is performed on segmented images by well-known classifiers, and results are generated for various train-to-test ratios for performance analysis. For segmentation, the proposed model achieved 82.08% dice, 90.30% mIOU, 94.35% precision, and 85.97% recall rate. The best performing classifier achieved 98.32% accuracy, 96.13% recall, and 99.68% precision using the softmax classifier. Comparison with the state-of-the-art techniques shows that the proposed model performed well on all the reported performance metrics. We explain this improvement in performance by utilizing heat maps with and without the proposed technique.

The travelling salesman problem (TSP) is perhaps the most researched problem in the field of Computer Science and Operations. It is a known NP-hard problem and has significant practical applications in a variety of areas, such as logistics, planning, and scheduling. Route optimisation not only improves the overall profitability of a logistic centre but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions by minimising the distance travelled. In this article, we propose a simple and improved heuristic algorithm named 2-Opt++, which solves symmetric TSP problems using an enhanced 2-Opt local search technique, to generate better results. As with 2-Opt, our proposed method can also be applied to the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), with minor modifications. We have compared our technique with six existing algorithms, namely ruin and recreate, nearest neighbour, genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, Tabu search, and ant colony optimisation. Furthermore, to allow for the complexity of larger TSP instances, we have used a graph compression/candidate list technique that helps in reducing the computational complexity and time. The comprehensive empirical evaluation carried out for this research work shows the efficacy of the 2-Opt++ algorithm as it outperforms the other well-known algorithms in terms of the error margin, execution time, and time of convergence.

Parkinson's disease is a neural degenerative disease. It slowly progresses from mild to severe stage, resulting in the degeneration of dopamine cells of neurons. Due to the deficiency of dopamine cells in the brain, it leads to a motor (tremor, slowness, impaired posture) and non-motor (speech, olfactory) defects in the body. Early detection of Parkinson's disease is a difficult chore as the symptoms of disease appear overtime. However, different diagnostic systems have contributed towards disease detection by considering gait, tremor and speech characteristics. Recent work has shown that speech impairments can be considered as a possible predictor for Parkinson's disease classification and remains an open research area. The speech signals show major differences and variations for Parkinson patients as compared to normal human beings. Therefore, variation in speech should be modeled using acoustic features to identify these variations. In this research, we propose three methodsthe first method employs a transfer learning-based approach using spectrograms of speech recordings, the second method evaluates deep features extracted from speech spectrograms using machine learning classifiers and the third method evaluates simple acoustic feature of recordings using machine learning classifiers. The proposed frameworks are evaluated on a Spanish dataset pc-Gita. The results show that the second framework shows promising results with deep features. The highest 99.7% accuracy on vowel \o\ and read text is observed using a multilayer perceptron. Whereas 99.1% accuracy observed on vowel \i\ deep features using random forest. The deep feature-based method performs better as compared to simple acoustic features and transfer learning approaches. The proposed methodology outperforms the existing techniques on the pc-Gita dataset for Parkinson's disease detection.

Internet of Things acts an essential role in our everyday lives and it definitely has the potential to grow on the importance and revolutionize our future. However, the present communication technologies have several security related issues which is required to provide secure end to end connectivity among services. Moreover, due to recent, rapid growth of quantum technologies, most common security mechanisms considered secure today may be soon imperilled. Thus, the modern security mechanisms during their construction also require the power of quantum technologies to resist various potential attacks from quantum computers. Because of its characteristics, quantum walks (QW) is considered as a universal quantum computation paradigm that can be accepted as an excellent key generator. In this regard, in this paper a new lightweight image encryption scheme based on QW for secure data transfer in the internet of things platforms and wireless networking with edge computing is proposed. The introduced approach utilises the power of nonlinear dynamic behaviour of QW to construct permutation boxes and generates pseudo-random numbers for encrypting the plain image after dividing it into blocks. The results of the conducted simulation and numerical analyses confirm that the presented encryption algorithm is effective. The encrypted images have randomness properties, no useful data about the ciphered image can be obtained via analysing the correlation of adjacent pixels. Moreover, the entropy value is close to 8, the number of the pixel change rate is greater than 99.61%, and there is high sensitivity of the key parameters with large key space to resist various attacks.

Melanoma is considered the most serious type of skin cancer. All over the world, the mortality rate is much high for melanoma in contrast with other cancer. There are various computer-aided solutions proposed to correctly identify melanoma cancer. However, the difficult visual appearance of the nevus makes it very difficult to design a reliable Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system for accurate melanoma detection. Existing systems either uses traditional machine learning models and focus on handpicked suitable features or uses deep learning-based methods that use complete images for feature learning. The automatic and most discriminative feature extraction for skin cancer remains an important research problem that can further be used to better deep learning training. Furthermore, the availability of the limited available images also creates a problem for deep learning models. From this line of research, we propose an intelligent Region of Interest (ROI) based system to identify and discriminate melanoma with nevus cancer by using the transfer learning approach. An improved k-mean algorithm is used to extract ROIs from the images. These ROI based approach helps to identify discriminative features as the images containing only melanoma cells are used to train system. We further use a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based transfer learning model with data augmentation for ROI images of DermIS and DermQuest datasets. The proposed system gives 97.9% and 97.4% accuracy for DermIS and DermQuest respectively. The proposed ROI based transfer learning approach outperforms existing methods that use complete images for classification.

In this paper, we report an effective cryptosystem aimed at securing the transmission of medical images in an Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) environment. This contribution investigates the dynamics of a 2-D trigonometric map designed using some well-known maps: Logistic-sine-cosine maps. Stability analysis reveals that the map has an infinite number of solutions. Lyapunov exponent, bifurcation diagram, and phase portrait are used to demonstrate the complex dynamic of the map. The sequences of the map are utilized to construct a robust cryptosystem. First, three sets of key streams are generated from the newly designed trigonometric map and are used jointly with the image components (R, G, B) for hamming distance calculation. The output distance-vector, corresponding to each component, is then Bit-XORed with each of the key streams. The output is saved for further processing. The decomposed components are again Bit-XORed with key streams to produce an output, which is then fed into the conditional shift algorithm. The Mandelbrot Set is used as the input to the conditional shift algorithm so that the algorithm efficiently applies confusion operation (complete shuffling of pixels). The resultant shuffled vectors are then Bit-XORed (Diffusion) with the saved outputs from the early stage, and eventually, the image vectors are combined to produce the encrypted image. Performance analyses of the proposed cryptosystem indicate high security and can be effectively incorporated in an IoHT framework for secure medical image transmission.

Today, internet and device ubiquity are paramount in individual, formal and societal considerations. Next generation communication technologies, such as Blockchains (BC), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, etc. offer limitless capabilities for different applications and scenarios including industries, cities, healthcare systems, etc. Sustainable integration of healthcare nodes (i.e. devices, users, providers, etc.) resulting in healthcare IoT (or simply IoHT) provides a platform for efficient service delivery for the benefit of care givers (doctors, nurses, etc.) and patients. Whereas confidentiality, accessibility and reliability of medical data are accorded high premium in IoHT, semantic gaps and lack of appropriate assets or properties remain impediments to reliable information exchange in federated trust management frameworks. Consequently, We propose a Blockchain Decentralised Interoperable Trust framework (DIT) for IoT zones where a smart contract guarantees authentication of budgets and Indirect Trust Inference System (ITIS) reduces semantic gaps and enhances trustworthy factor (TF) estimation via the network nodes and edges. Our DIT IoHT makes use of a private Blockchain ripple chain to establish trustworthy communication by validating nodes based on their inter-operable structure so that controlled communication required to solve fusion and integration issues are facilitated via different zones of the IoHT infrastructure. Further, C# implementation using Ethereum and ripple Blockchain are introduced as frameworks to associate and aggregate requests over trusted zones.

Globally, under-five child mortality is a substantial health problem. In developing countries, reducing child mortality and improving child health are the key priorities in health sectors. Despite the significant reduction in deaths of under-five children globally, developing countries are still struggling to maintain an acceptable mortality rate. Globally, the death rate of under-five children is 41 per 1000 live births. However, the death rate of children in developing nations like Pakistan and Ethiopia per 1000 live births is 74 and 54, respectively. Such nations find it very challenging to decrease the mortality rate. Data analytics on healthcare data plays a pivotal role in identifying the trends and highlighting the key factors behind the children deaths. Similarly, predictive analytics with the help of Internet of Things based frameworks significantly advances the smart healthcare systems to forecast death trends for timely intervention. Moreover, it helps in capturing hidden associations between health-related variables and key death factors among children. In this study, a predictive analytics framework has been developed to predict the death rates with high accuracy and to find the significant determinants that cause high child mortality. Our framework uses an automated method of information gain to rank the information-rich mortality variables for accurate predictions. Ethiopian Demographic Health Survey and Pakistan Demographic Health Survey data sets have been used for the validation of our proposed framework. These real-world data sets have been tested using machine learning classifiers, such as Naïve Bayes, decision tree, rule induction, random forest, and multi-layer perceptron, for the prediction task. It has been revealed through our experimentation that Naïve Bayes classifier predicts the child mortality rate with the highest average accuracy of 96.4% and decision tree helps in identifying key classification rules covering the factors behind children deaths.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. It gradually increases from mild stage to severe, affecting the ability to perform common daily tasks without assistance. It is a neurodegenerative illness, presently having no specified cure. Computer-Aided Diagnostic Systems have played an important role to help physicians to identify AD. However, the diagnosis of AD into its four stages; No Dementia, Very Mild Dementia, Mild Dementia, and Moderate Dementia remains an open research area. Deep learning assisted computer-aided solutions are proved to be more useful because of their high accuracy. However, the most common problem with deep learning architecture is that large training data is required. Furthermore, the samples should be evenly distributed among the classes to avoid the class imbalance problem. The publicly available dataset (OASIS) has serious class imbalance problem. In this research, we employed a transfer learning-based technique using data augmentation for 3D Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) views from OASIS dataset. The accuracy of the proposed model utilizing a single view of the brain MRI is 98.41% while using 3D-views is 95.11%. The proposed system outperformed the existing techniques for Alzheimer disease stages.

Alzheimer’s disease effects human brain cells and results in dementia. The gradual deterioration of the brain cells results in disability of performing daily routine tasks. The treatment for this disease is still not mature enough. However, its early diagnosis may allow restraining the spread of disease. For early detection of Alzheimer’s through brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), an automated detection and classification system needs to be developed that can detect and classify the subject having dementia. These systems also need not only to classify dementia patients but to also identify the four progressing stages of dementia. The proposed system works on an efficient technique of utilizing transfer learning to classify the images by fine-tuning a pre-trained convolutional network, AlexNet. The architecture is trained and tested over the pre-processed segmented (Grey Matter, White Matter, and Cerebral Spinal Fluid) and un-segmented images for both binary and multi-class classification. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated over Open Access Series of Imaging Studies (OASIS) dataset. The algorithm showed promising results by giving the best overall accuracy of 92.85% for multi-class classification of un-segmented images.

Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive, nonradioactive, and meticulous diagnostic modality capability in the field of medical imaging. However, the efficiency of MR image reconstruction is affected by its bulky image sets and slow process implementation. Therefore, to obtain a high-quality reconstructed image we presented a sparse aware noise removal technique that uses convolution neural network (SANR_CNN) for eliminating noise and improving the MR image reconstruction quality. The proposed noise removal or denoising technique adopts a fast CNN architecture that aids in training larger datasets with improved quality, and SARN algorithm is used for building a dictionary learning technique for denoising large image datasets. The proposed SANR_CNN model also preserves the details and edges in the image during reconstruction. An experiment was conducted to analyze the performance of SANR_CNN in a few existing models in regard with peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index (SSIM), and mean squared error (MSE). The proposed SANR_CNN model achieved higher PSNR, SSIM, and MSE efficiency than the other noise removal techniques. Despite advances in technological complexity and efforts, software repositorymaintenance requires reusing the data to reduce the effort and complexity. However, increasing ambiguity, irrelevance, and bugs while extracting similar data during software development generate a large amount of data from those data that reside in repositories. Thus, there is a need for a repository mining technique for relevant and bug-free data prediction. This paper proposes a fault prediction approach using a data-mining technique to find good predictors for high-quality software. To predict errors in mining data, the Apriori algorithm was used to discover association rules by fixing confidence at more than 40% and support at least 30%. The pruning strategy was adopted based on evaluation measures. Next, the rules were extracted from three projects of different domains; the extracted rules were then combined to obtain the most popular rules based on the evaluation measure values. To evaluate the proposed approach, we conducted an experimental study to compare the proposed rules with existing ones using four different industrial projects. The evaluation showed that the results of our proposal are promising. Practitioners and developers can utilize these rules for defect prediction during early software development. An automated systemis proposed for the detection and classification of GI abnormalities. The proposed method operates under two pipeline procedures: (a) segmentation of the bleeding infection region and (b) classification of GI abnormalities by deep learning. The first bleeding region is segmented using a hybrid approach. The threshold is applied to each channel extracted from the original RGB image. Later, all channels are merged through mutual information and pixel-based techniques. As a result, the image is segmented. Texture and deep learning features are extracted in the proposed classification task. The transfer learning (TL) approach is used for the extraction of deep features. The Local Binary Pattern (LBP) method is used for texture features. Later, an entropy-based feature selection approach is implemented to select the best features of both deep learning and texture vectors. The selected optimal features are combined with a serial-based technique and the resulting vector is fed to the Ensemble Learning Classifier. The experimental process is evaluated on the basis of two datasets: Private and KVASIR. The accuracy achieved is 99.8 per cent for the private data set and 86.4 percent for the KVASIR data set. It can be confirmed that the proposed method is effective in detecting and classifying GI abnormalities and exceeds other methods of comparison. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
