The development of technological progress makes increased demands on the strength properties of structural elements of buildings and structures, machines and mechanisms, and a decrease in their material consumption. This leads to the need for effective use of existing and creation of new methods of solid mechanics and the training of new highly qualified specialists. Additionally, having control over the objects` sizes will allow potential users (designers, engineers etc.) to consider the desired properties in the optimization problem. Otherwise, it would be both quite difficult and inefficient to utilize. This article describes a system for CAD modelling. Its implementation is based on open-source software, such as Python programming language, Jupyterlab and FEniCS library. The system also supports topological optimization and allows its user to integrate the desired numerical methods, which is currently not supported in the existing solutions. The execution time of solving the example problem was measured and presented together with the result. Special attention was paid to the comparison of the described solution with the currently existing ones.

Pathfinding is a widespread task in many domains, including computer games, robotics and road maps. This paper describes the work of JPS+ algorithm and puts forward its modifications allowing to reduce pathfinding time. We propose to use a visibility graph to modify the map pre-processing logic at the stage of Primary Jump Points calculation. The paper also puts forward modifications in the shortest path algorithm solved for two points: the logic of Target Jump Points work and Primary Jump Points filtering has been altered to deal with obstacles. We propose an open-source software solution that accommodates the modifications.

Strength analysis problems are those engineering tasks that aim to calculate strength properties of structures. The modelling in this sphere is of such complexity that it is often difficult to integrate a geometric model (CAD) and the analysis of physical impact exerted on it (FEM).This paper describes a prototype of an open-source system that integrates CAD and FEM. The strength analysis task is used to illustrate the integration. The system is deployed by means of the Docker platform and uses Jupyter Notebook for strength analysis.

Although each task of recreating artifacts is truly unique, the modeling process for façades, foundations and building elements can be parametrized. This paper is focused on a complex of the existing programming libraries and solutions that need to be united into a single computer system to solve such a task. An algorithm of generating 3D filling of objects under reconstruction is presented. The solution architecture necessary for the system's adaptation for a cloud environment is studied.

Independent components communicating with each other due to complex control make the work of complex distributed computer systems poorly scalable within the framework of the existing communication middleware. Two major problems of such systems' scaling can be defined: overloading of unequal nodes due to proportional redistribution of workload and difficulties in the realization of continuous communication between several nodes of the system. This paper is focused on the developed solution enabling visualization of the work of such a dynamical system.

The paper discusses the concept of a system that encapsulates the transition from geometry building to strength tests. The solution we propose views the engineer as a programmer who is capable of coding the procedure for working with the modeli.e., to outline the necessary transformations and create cases for boundary conditions. We propose a prototype of such system. In our work, we used: Python programming language to create the program; Jupyter framework to create a single workspace visualization; pythonOCC library to implement CAD; FeniCS library to implement FEM; GMSH and VTK utilities. The prototype is launched on a platform which is a dynamically expandable multi-tenant cloud service providing users with all computing resources on demand. However, the system may be deployed locally for prototyping or work that does not involve resource-intensive computing. To make it possible, we used containerization, isolating the system in a Docker container.

Traditional methods for performing biofouling detection are based upon probing object surfaces for subsequent laboratory research. Such methods result in large effort, they are expensive, and require expert consultations. Knowledge of the type of biological contaminants is necessary to protect objects from their harmful impact. In this paper we propose a method for determination of types of biological contaminants existing on the objects surface. The proposed method uses a collection of object's images as input. The collection contains images obtained in the visible and near infrared spectral bands. During pre-processing the series, all images are converted to a selected shooting point, and the background is removed. Feature vector is built from combinations of formal vegetation indices. To recognize the type of biological contaminants, we used a pre-trained classifier based on SVM method with RBF kernel.

The paper is focused on a solution providing middleware control over both message passing and scaling in a cloud environment. We provide a detailed analysis of the issue and present the restrictions particular to the load-balancing and communications systems. We also justify the need of such middleware development for a cloud infrastructure. The paper describes the problems emerged while working on a concrete project and presents the results obtained so far.

Complex distributed service appliacations require extensibility of messaging patterns: Traditional synchronous Request-Response and Publish-Subscribe need extensions that would provide an asynchronous approach, furthermore with current P2P (Peer-to-Peer) communication libraries such as ZeroMQ and NanoMsg a message pattern description is fundamentally limited to one action type for a group of connected peers. Business logic often requires alterations to load balancing schemes for most effective tasks distribution. We propose a lightweight library and a set of modules sitting on top of common P2P communication transports and provide vast patterns extensibility with support for business logic participation in load balancing.

The service systems deployed in a cloud environment have a volatile business logic which cannot be fully described by messaging patterns now available. Firstly, the work of distributed service systems is heavily influenced by the type, format, topic, and content of messages. Secondly, the existing middleware solutions for message exchange have a very narrow functionality focused exclusively on message passing between the nodes of a distributed system. They pay no attention to the features of the messages sent. However, scaling in hybrid and geo-distributed cloud solutions requires a more comprehensive approach. So does the analysis of the state of system modules. This paper offers an algorithm allowing to classify messages which are sent via the same protocol but have various content and do not correspond to a pre-set format. We provide an example of using such algorithm in middleware architecture. The major advantages and drawbacks of the algorithm are described with regard to a distributed cloud system.
