At ALBA four Beam Position Monitors (BPMs) measure the beam position along the Linac to Booster Transfer Line. The BPM electronics (Libera Spark type) have been recently upgraded in order to be sensitive to single-pass beam detection. As a result, the position resolution measured in LTB BPMs has been increased by a factor 10 with respect to the former electronics. The increased resolution enables us to resolve the energy jitter of the Linac beam, providing an on-line measurement of the Linac energy during regular operation. The non-invasive diagnostics in the ALBA Booster-to-Storage (BTS) transfer consist of Beam Position Monitors (BPM) and Synchrotron Radiation Monitors (SRM), which together provide position, size and shape of the beam. However, they were not reliable enough for a systematic improvement of the transfer efficiency in the BTS, which has been fluctuating since day one. In order to optimize it, two major upgradse have been performed: first, the BPM electronics have been upgraded for single-pass beam detection, showing a factor 10 better position resolution than the former units. Secondly, the SRMs mechanics and automation were significantly improved to provide a more robust optics alignment. The extraction system for the CLIC Damping Rings has very tight specifications. Therefore a full characterisation of the behaviour of the stripline kicker under conditions as close as possible to the expected working conditions will be very valuable. To that end the CLIC stripline has been installed in the ALBA Synchrotron Light Source and has been characterised with beam. Prior to its installation, the effect of the stripline kicker on the machine impedance has been assessed. The installation has required the design of an absorber to screen the stripline from synchrotron radiation and additional BPMs have been installed for a better kick angle determination. The commissioning of the stripline with beam has been performed following closely beam parameters, pressure and temperature. The studies with beam include the determination of the longitudinal and transverse impedance of the kicker*, the field homogeneity when excited with a dc field and the field ripple when pulsed. Transverse Couple Bunch Instabilities (TCBI) have been identified at ALBA as one of the main beam current limitations since its early commissioning in 2011. In these last years, we have developed several diagnostics tools that allow us a better characterization of these instabilities. The Synchrotron Radiation Interferometry has been equipped with a Fast Gated Camera (FGC) to measure the bunch-by-bunch beam size evolution, which, in combination with the diagnostics tools of the Transverse Multibunch Feedback system, provides us with a fruitful insight of these phenomena. This paper describes these diagnostics tools, and as an example, compares the emittance and tune evolution switching on/off some of the vacuum pumps at the Storage Ring., Proceedings of the 6th Int. At ALBA the standard orbit response matrix measurement with DC corrector magnet (CM) modulation is being upgraded with an AC excitation of the correctors combined with the synchronized beam position monitor (BPM) acquisition data rate at 10 kHz. Several types of excitation waveforms (sinusoidal vs square types) and frequencies have been tested and compared to optimize the measurement precision and repeatability. The data acquisition time of the ALBA response matrix (88 horizontal and 88 vertical correctors) with the new AC method takes 1 minute to complete instead of 7 minutes of the standard technique., Proceedings of the 8th Int. A Transverse Multi-Bunch Feedback system (TMBF) has been commissioned at the ALBA storage ring for stabilization of the beam instabilities. The system is based on the Libera Bunch-By-Bunch electronics, controlled using a specific software developed at Diamond Light Source. This system refurbishes the existing FPGA code to include several features for machine studies, like fast and precise tune measurements using a Phase Locked Loop, sequences of grow-damp experiments that allow measuring damping rates on a mode-by-mode basis, and precise bunch cleaning. We describe the TMBF system and the integration of the control software into the ALBA machine. A methodology has been developed to perform electrical characterization of the stripline BPMs for the future Gamma Beam System of ELI Nuclear Physics facility in Romania. Several prototype units are extensively benchmarked and the results are presented in this paper. The BPM sensitivity function is determined using a uniquely designed motorized test bench with a stretched wire to measure the BPM response map. Here, the BPM feedthroughs are connected to Libera Brilliance electronics and the wire is fed by continuous wave signal, while the two software-controlled motors provide horizontal and vertical motion of the BPM around the wire. This paper summarizes the tasks carried out to develop a turn-by-turn (TBT) measurement system at ALBA. These tasks mainly include testing the MAF firmware for the libera BPMs and implementing the necessary analytical tools to infer the beam dynamics parameters. TBT measurements using an injection kicker are presented. Linear and non-linear beam dynamics results are compared with LOCO. The ALBA light source has been operating in decay mode since May 2012. Now it is ready for top-up operation, which should become the standard operation mode for users from mid 2014. Article redefines the classic question of the history of Philosophy, its forms, meaning and justification, for this it incorporates the basic positions held on the subject by Fernando Montero and considers its connection with other contemporary approaches such as those of R. Rorty, with his distinction between historical reconstruction, rational reconstruction and Geistegeschichte approach, as three valid forms for the history of philosophy, that may also connect with the intellectual history, which takes us to the major historiographical transformations occurring along the last five decades associated with the names of Foucault, Koselleck, Blumenberg, Skinner and Pocock. Throughout this development what is in it of neohistoricism should be raised, i.e. a historiography that distances from the present, as claimed by Skinner, Blumenberg and Montero itself. The question then leads to the evaluation of meaning of this neohistoricism.
