The need for human-centric perspectives on smart automation are increasing as new technological advancements and global societal changes continuously re-shapes the manufacturing industry. Meeting this need is challenging and cannot be accomplished by one sole field of research expertise and requires university-industry collaboration. The research presented combines expertise from different disciplines, i.e., industrial engineering, automation and control, business administration, management, informatics, and work-integrated learning. The research group has extensive experience of such collaborations and is presently applying previous research and experiences in studies of human-centric smart automation striving to build unique research. Transdisciplinary research offers many opportunities; however, challenges include, combining methodologies, communication jargon, mutual respect for different disciplines and designing joint research studies. The research presented addresses such challenges by taking a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach bringing forth the human-centric perspective when advancing smart robotic automation. The aim is to exemplify and illustrate how to design transdisciplinary research in collaboration with industry for knowledge exchange and co-creation of new knowledge. The collaborative design emphasises the value of a transdisciplinary approach in university-industry collaboration when studying, understanding, and evolving the human-centric perspective of technological advancement in the manufacturing industry. Findings contribute design for synergizing technology development and manufacturing management to reach human-centric smart automation. The number of PhD graduates is increasing globally. This highly educated subgroup is exposed to precarious work conditions and a rapidly changing labour market imposing novel careers across sectors throughout working life. There are age, gender, and ethnicity inequalities for PhD graduates’ transitions to and within the labour market demonstrating knowledge needs and skills matching. Higher education and especially PhD education needs to address those challenges, and one approach to do so is work-integrated learning (WIL). WIL is an untapped resource for PhD graduates, as it is usually applied during undergraduate education. WIL in PhD education differs from WIL on bachelor and master level, due to the specificity of PhD projects and disciplines, as well as the expected responsibility and independence of PhD students compared to undergraduate students. Generic and specific skills are required in the labour market and PhD graduates must be ready to present and translate their skills to potential employers. WIL can provide improved networking skills with employers both inside and outside of academia, and better prepare PhD students for the transition to work after graduation. We have developed a pilot course in Strategic career planning via work-integrated learning for PhD students. Based on preparatory workshops with PhD students and supervisors, the need for the course was evident. In the current interactive, hybrid course the participants come from different countries and disciplines and course is currently ongoing. Interactive pedagogical tools are applied in the course, such as Feedforward, Liberating Structures, Miro and FeedbackFruits. As WIL in PhD education is novel, this presentation shows how WIL can be integrated in course design on PhD level, in a way that enhances PhD students´ career crafting, independence and skills matching for the labour market in various contexts. Vikten av ett utvecklande genusarbete lyfts i förskolans styrdokument som en av flera viktiga delar som kan kopplas till förskolans uppdrag. Pedagoger i förskolan behöver vara medvetna om föreställningar och idéer som finns kopplat till flickor och pojkar för att kunna arbeta utifrån ett genusperspektiv. Barn i förskolan ska inte behöva begränsa sina intressen eller förmågor grundat på vilket biologiskt kön de har. Det är pedagogernas bemötande gentemot barnen i barngruppen som formar dem både i sin könsroll och som individer. I tidig ålder så möter många barn föreställningar som samhället skapat kring vad som anses vara stereotypiskt för de biologiska könen. Lärmiljön är en viktig del i arbetet med genus i förskolan och ses som grunden för barns lek och lärande. Det är också viktigt hur förskollärare förhåller sig till miljön samt hur de väljer att bygga upp lärmiljön på förskolans avdelningar. Förskolans miljö ska vara en inspiration och samtidigt utmana barnen till att utvidga förmågor och intressen utan att deras könstillhörighet eller könsnormer begränsar dem. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur förskollärare resonerar kring genusarbetet i förskolan, med fokus på lärmiljön. Metoden som används i studien är kvalitativ metod i form av intervjuer, vi valde att utföra semistrukturerade eller så kallade delvis strukturerade intervjuer. Resultatet visar att förskollärarna anser att det är viktigt att vara medveten om sitt förhållningssätt som pedagog i förskolan och att barn ska ses som enskilda individer och inte som sitt biologiska kön. Samtidigt förknippar förskollärarna begreppet genus mer med biologiskt än socialt kön. Resultatet visar också att det krävs närvarande pedagoger i barns lek för att kunna ge stöttning i leken och utmana deras tankar.

Purpose – The purpose is to apply the co-workership approach to contribute guidelines for manufacturing managers to exploit the potential of digital technologies through a human-centric perspective. Design/methodology/approach – A longitudinal single case study within manufacturing including a mix of qualitative methods with 18 in-depth interviews and focus groups with 25 participants covering all organizational levels and functions. Findings – Findings demonstrate that to re-interpret manufacturing management through the lens of Industry 5.0 (I5.0), managers need to respond to the call for a more human-centric perspective by focusing on organizational prerequisites, such as holistic understanding, inclusive organizational change, leadership practices, learning and innovation processes. Research limitations/implications – Limitations due to a single case study are compensated with rich data collected over time with the strengths of mixed methods through in-depth interviews and focus groups with participants reflecting and developing ideas jointly. Practical implications – Managers’ awareness of organizational prerequisites to promote human perspectives in all functions and at all levels in digital transformation is pivotal. Thus, proposed organizational prerequisites are presented as managers’ guidelines for future innovative manufacturing. Social implications – Findings emphasize the need for digital transformation managers to apply a human-centric perspective acknowledging how organizational changes affect the inclusion of employees, and thus challenge culture, structure, communication and trust toward I5.0. Background: The use of snus among Swedish youth has increased, posing a potential risk of long-term consequences in adulthood. Objective & Research Questions: The aim of the study is to analyze snus usage among high school students and identify influencing factors as well as reasons for quitting. The research questions investigate the prevalence of snus use, differences based on gender and socioeconomic background, disparities in self-esteem between snus users and non-users, and factors motivating students to quit snus. Method: The study adopts a cross-sectional design and employs a survey to collect data from respondents. The method involves convenience sampling from four high schools, and the survey's validity was established through a pilot study. A total of 112 high school students participated in the survey, and the analyses included t-tests and chi-square tests. Results: The results reveal that the majority of high school students, 65.2%, have used snus primarily due to influence from friends. No significant differences were observed in terms of ethnicity, self-esteem, or gender-related snus habits, except for a higher percentage of boys citing friends outside of school as a reason compared to girls. Respondents considering quitting mention economic and health-related reasons as motivations. Conclusion: Elevated snus use among high school students highlights the need for preventive interventions, which may need to be tailored differently. The study's limitations, including overrepresentation of high socioeconomic status, require cautious interpretation. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the importance of continued research to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth., Bakgrund: Snusanvändningen hos svenska ungdomar har ökat. Det är något som har risk att ge långvariga konsekvenser i vuxenlivet. Syfte & frågeställning: Studiens syfte är att analysera snusanvändning bland gymnasieelever och identifierapåverkande faktorer samt orsaker till att sluta. Frågeställningarna undersöker prevalensen av snusanvändning, skillnader baserat på kön och socioekonomisk bakgrund, skillnader i självkänsla mellan snusare och icke-snusare samt faktorer som motiverar elever att sluta snusa. Metod: Studiens är av en tvärsnittsdesign och har använt enkätundersökning för att samla in data frånr espondenterna. Metoden inkluderade bekvämlighetsurval från fyra gymnasieskolor och enkäten validerades genom en pilotstudie. Totalt deltog 112 gymnasielever i enkäten och analyserna omfattade t-test och chi-tvåtest. Resultat: Resultaten visar att majoriteten av gymnasieeleverna har snusat 65,2% främst på grund avpåverkan från vänner. Inga signifikanta skillnader kunde observeras mellan etnicitet, självkänsla eller könsskillnader och snusvanor. Förutom att en större andel killar angav vänner utanför skolan som en anledning jämfört med tjejer. Respondenter som överväger att sluta nämner ekonomiska och hälsomässiga skäl som motiveringar. Slutsats: Hög snusanvändning bland gymnasieelever pekar på behovet av preventiva insatser och att dessa insatser kan behövas varieras beroende på elevgrupp. Studiens begränsningar, inklusive överrepresentation av hög socioekonomi, kräver försiktig tolkning. Avslutningsvis betonar studien vikten av fortsatt forskning för att främja en hälsosam livsstil bland ungdomar.

In the aftermath of #MeToo, Amber Heard chose to share her experiences of sexual abuse and violence in the relationship with Johnny Depp in an article. Depp denied the allegations and claimed that the accusations were fabricated and therefore chose to sue Heard for defamation. The defamation trial between the ex-spouses began in 2022 and received much attention since it was broadcast live to the public. The lawsuit quickly went viral on social media where Depp's fans constructed and spread favorable narratives on Depp's behalf in order to restore his reputation. The purpose of the study is to examine, from a gender perspective, how fans of a public figure crisis communicated on social media during an ongoing trial following accusations of intimate partner violence. This is achieved by a qualitative content analysis where posts published by Depp's fans during the trial are analyzed based on the theories of postfeminism and Image Repair Theory. The study concluded that both Depp and Heard are portrayed based on male and female attributes to relate to the roles of victim and perpetrator more clearly. Heard is blamed and mocked, while Depp is celebrated and respected. Furthermore, there are also narratives that connect to misogynistic ideas that are hidden by, for example, discussions about equality and can be seen as a backlash against feminist successes., I efterdyningarna av #MeToo valde Amber Heard att dela med sig av sina erfarenheter av sexuella övergrepp och våld i förhållandet med Johnny Depp i en debattartikel. Depp förnekade anklagelserna och menade att de var fabricerade och valde därför att stämma Heard för förtal. Förtalsrättegången mellan de forna makarna inleddes 2022 och fick stor uppmärksamhet eftersom den livesändes inför allmänheten. Rättegången blev snabbt viral på sociala medier där Depps fans konstruerade och spred fördelaktiga narrativ å Depps vägnar i syfte att återupprätta hans rykte. Syftet med studien är att utifrån ett genusperspektiv undersöka hur fans till en offentlig person kriskommunicerat på sociala medier under en pågående rättegång efter anklagelser om våld i nära relation. Detta genomförs med en kvalitativ innehållsanalys där inlägg publicerade av Depps fans under tiden för rättegången analyseras utifrån teorierna postfeminism och Image Repair Theory. Studiens resultat visade att både Depp och Heard porträtteras utifrån manliga och kvinnliga attribut för att tydligare anknyta till rollerna som offer och förövare. Heard blir skuldbelagd och hånad, medan Depp blir hyllad och respekterad. Vidare förekommer också narrativ som anknyter till kvinnofientliga idéer som döljs av exempelvis diskussioner om jämställdhet och kan ses som en motreaktion på feministiska framgångar.

The usability of GNSS-positioning with smartphones has increased because of smartphones being a cost-effective alternative compared to more advanced receivers. Previous studies have achieved position uncertainty that varied between 3–20 m with different applications in smartphones. No studies have been found that evaluates the positional uncertainty in data collected with the Strava application. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate positional uncertainty in Strava for two different smartphones being compared in two terrain types, forested and open terrain. In the study, the GNSS receiver Trimble R12 is used to measure reference data as it can achieve lower uncertainty than smartphones. The two tested smartphones (iPhone 8 and iPhone 12 Pro) are mounted on the bicycle handlebar from where the measurement is performed. The position uncertainty is evaluated by calculating the root mean square deviation (RMS). The result of the study shows that the positional uncertainty in the iPhone 12 Pro is lower compared to the iPhone 8, regardless of terrain and speed. For all measurements, the iPhone 12 Pro achieves a total root mean square deviation of 1.5 m, while the iPhone 8 achieves 7.5 m. Factors that may have affected the uncertainty in measurements are satellite geometry, variations in the ionosphere and troposphere and errors during measurement. The iPhone 8 should not be used for collecting data for new trails due to the high deviations. The iPhone 12 Pro is considered credible with low deviations throughout where the positional uncertainty between open and forested terrain differs by 0.2 m. Furthermore, it would be of interest to investigate how the iPhone 12 Pro relates to newer hardware., Trots att positioneringsosäkerheten är högre i smartphones än i avancerade mottagare har användbarheten ökat för GNSS-positionering med smartphones till följd av det kostnadseffektiva alternativ som det innebär. Intresset för att skapa ledsystem med data insamlade med livetracking i smartphones har ökat. Uppnådd lägesosäkerhet i tidigare studier har varierat mellan 3–20 m med olika applikationer i smartphones. Det har inte påträffats studier som utvärderat lägesosäkerheten i data insamlade med applikationen Strava och därför är det av intresse att genomföra en sådan. Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilken lägesosäkerhet som kan uppnås i terräng via livetracking med smartphones med applikationen Strava. För att uppnå syftet undersöktes lägesosäkerheten med två smartphones i skogbevuxen och öppen terräng. I studien genomfördes också en begränsad undersökning av hastighetens inverkan på lägesosäkerheten i öppen terräng. För att kunna förlita sig på data behöver lägesosäkerheten i smartphones kontrolleras mot referensdata inmätt med en metod som kan erhålla lägre osäkerhet. I studien användes GNSS-mottagaren Trimble R12 för inmätning av referensdata. En iPhone 8 och en iPhone 12 Pro monterades på ett cykelstyre där mätning med Strava genomfördes cyklandes på 100 m långa sträckor i öppen och skogbevuxen terräng. Lägesosäkerheten utvärderades genom att beräkna kvadratisk medelavvikelse (RMS). Resultatet visar att lägesosäkerheten med iPhone 12 Pro är lägre i jämförelse med iPhone 8 oberoende av terräng och hastighet. För samtliga mätningar uppnår iPhone 12 Pro en total kvadratisk medelavvikelse på 1,5 m medan iPhone 8 uppnår 7,5 m. The purpose of this paper is to present how a well-known tool in design and architecture – visual design elements – can be transformed to support teacher representations of teaching and learning. The presentation shares experiences from a university-wide pedagogical development project, at Örebro University (Sweden). The aim of the project was to develop learning environments, with a start in pedagogical needs and a pre-established educational philosophy, rather than interior design and current spatial conditions. The project came to initiate a dialogue among teachers on how spatial conditions could support, and develop, teacher’s pedagogy as well as students' learning. One outcome from the project was visual design elements, so called Room and Activity Diagrams (RADs (Hansson, 2022) i.e visual representations, of various, and a variation of, spatial arrangements for different types of learning activities, such as lectures, seminars, and workshops. Thus, a RAD could be understood as a visual tool – or design element – to support teachers in their ideas on teaching in learning in relation to a specific space. During the project the RAD:s were transformed from being static representation of general learning spaces – like the lecture hall – to becoming dynamic representations of complex learning processes developed in an inductive process. Theoretically, we draw on an Activity-Centered Analysis and Design model (ACAD) that consist of four dimensions in a learning situation – physical situation (set design), tasks (epistemic design) and social situation (social design). The fourth dimension – emergent activity – acknowledge the complexity in learning, and that students and teacher have agency and interact and re-act during learning. This implies that the emergent activity cannot be designed. Learning Lab är Akademiska Hus koncept med testbäddar som i nära samverkan med lärosäten utformas för att främja innovation, forskning om och utveckling av framtidens lärandemiljöer. En testbädd utgörs av en fysisk plats där rumsdesign, pedagogik, teknik, m.m ges utrymme att prototypas, utforskas och utvärderas för att generera erfarenheter och kunskaper om våra lärandemiljöer. För närvarande driver Akademiska Hus Learning Lab på tre orter tillsammans med Göteborgs universitet, Umeå universitet och Örebro universitet. Miljöerna är designade med olika fokusområden men med en gemensam inriktning – att utforska samspelet mellan pedagogik, sociala förutsättningar, rum och teknik – i syfte att driva högskolepedagogisk utveckling. Syftet med rundabordssamtalet är att diskutera hur konceptet med testbäddar kan spridas vidare samt att dela erfarenheter från testbäddarnas arbete med att arbeta med högskolepedagogisk utveckling och utforskandet av fysiska och hybrida lärandemiljöer samt att stimulera erfarenhetsutbyte inför gemensamma frågeställningar kring högskolepedagogisk utveckling i skärningspunkt mellan pedagogik, rum & teknik Rundabordssamtalet genomförs genom att representanter från respektive Learning Lab tillsammans med projektgruppen från Akademiska hus leder ett samtal om hur vi kan sätta pedagogiken i centrum vid utveckling av lärandemiljöer, hur vi skapar nödvändiga stödstrukturer för lärare som utforskar lärandemiljöer och utmaningarna i samverkan inom och mellan lärosätena. The veterinary profession seems to be particularly affected by mental health problems than other occupational groups, primarily a consequence of exposure to various sources of psychological distress that is common within the profession (e.g., euthanasia administration, and client interactions). This article is the first to investigate the association between work-specific factors and wellbeing in the veterinary profession in Sweden. A cross-sectional survey sampled 280 (256 females) Sweden-registered veterinarians and nurses (235 veterinarians, 45 veterinary nurses). Multiple platforms and methods were used to increase diversity and inclusiveness in the sample. In this study, we investigated the associations between psychological wellbeing by including variables from several studies that have previously been associated with decreased wellbeing within the veterinary profession in order to get a more comprehensive picture of factors that may contribute to increased risk of mental illness. Results showed that, after adjusting for the influence of psychosocial working environment factors, except for variables related to euthanasia which were not associated with decreased wellbeing, measures indexing difficult client interactions were, on the other hand, associated with decreased wellbeing. Thus, negative experiences from client interactions suggest that these could be candidates for the development and maintenance of poor wellbeing among individuals within the veterinary profession. This research can potentially assist in designing more targeted intervention studies and serve educational purposes for both staff and future professionals.
