This study aims to analyze the effect of Procurement Digitalization Capability, Collaborative Supply Chain Management, Operational Capability through Competitive Advantage on Sustainable Business Performance at Geothermal Energy Company Partners. The method used in this research is quantitative method, where this research uses surveys and questionnaires distributed to vendors or partners of the Geothermal Energy Company as the object of research. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling with the acquisition of 115 respondents. This study uses data testing methods using validity and reliability tests on each variable studied. While the data analysis method used in this research is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS software. The results showed that the direct relationship between the Procurement Digitalization Capability variable had a positive effect on Competitive Advantage. Collaborative Supply Chain Management variables have no positive effect on Competitive Advantage. While Operational Capability has a positive effect on Competitive Advantage and finally Competitive Advantage has a significant positive effect on Sustainable Business Performance. As organizations emerge from the disruptions induced by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is becoming evident that the sales function has shifted irrevocably toward increased reliance on technological resources to facilitate inherent processes and activities. Integrating research from the dynamic capabilities and sales capabilities literature, this study examines why some organizations are more adept than others at harnessing and leveraging emergent technological resources to enhance sales operations. Specifically, we develop and test a theoretical framework of the antecedents and consequences of technology-enabled sales capability, a firm-level operational capability that captures the embeddedness of technology in sales processes and activities. The framework proposes that three firm-level dynamic capabilities—technology-sensing capability, vigilant market learning capability, and adaptive sales capability—are positively related to technology-enabled sales capability, which in turn is positively related to financial performance and customer relationship performance. The framework also explores the moderating effects of top management technology advocacy and two environmental variables—technological and market turbulence—on the development and deployment of technology-enabled sales capability. Based on findings from data gathered from 224 business-to-business sales managers, we extend theoretical and managerial contributions and provide directions for future research. SMEs always need survival tools or strategies such as orientation and capabilities to survive in the competitive market, as they can help in improving performance. Therefore, this research has highlighted important capabilities and orientations influencing SMEs' performance in Oman. It has examined the effect of supply chain orientation and market orientation on SMEs' performance with mediating role of innovation capabilities and operational capabilities. Moreover, it investigated the role of strategic flexibility as a moderator between innovation capabilities and SMEs' performance in Oman. The survey method was used to collect primary data from managers and supervisors of SMEs functional in Oman. Data analysis was done using AMOS, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted. The moderation was examined by using the Hayes process macro on SPSS. The results revealed that market orientation and SC orientation positively influence SMEs' innovation capabilities, operational capabilities, and performance. These capabilities also help in enhancing performance. Moreover, they mediate the relationship between "supply chain orientation and SMEs' performance" and "market orientation and SMEs' performance." Based on Boyd’s “Observation Orientation-Decision-Action (OODA)” aerial combat theory and the principles of operational success, an analysis of the operational division patterns for cross-generational human-machine collaboration was conducted. The research proposed three stages in the development of aerial combat human-machine fusion intelligence: “Human-Machine Separation, Functional Coordination,” “Human-Machine Trust, Task Coordination,” and “Human-Machine Integration, Deep Fusion.” Currently, the transition from the first stage to the second stage is underway, posing challenges primarily related to the lack of effective methods guiding experimental research on human-machine fusion interaction and trust. Building upon the principles of decision neuroscience and the theory of supply and demand relationships, the study analyzed the decision-making patterns of human-machine fusion intelligence under different states. By investigating the correlations among aerial combat mission demands, dynamic operational limits of human-machine tasks, and aerial combat mission performance, a theoretical model of human-machine fusion interaction and trust was proposed. This model revealed the mechanistic coupling of human-machine interactions in aerial tasks, aiming to optimize the decision-making processes of human-machine systems to enhance mission performance. This article presents the results of research, which set out to clarify the importance and role played by the concept of using A2/AD capabilities in the military strategy of the Russian Federation. Analysis and criticism of the literature were used to solve the research problems. In order to guide the research process, a hypothesis was formulated, assuming that the Russian concept of using A2/AD capabilities is an operationalisation of a broader military strategy for defeating the adversary, as well as an effective deterrence mechanism. The research process established that the Russian concept of using A2/AD capabilities is a theory and operational practice, a broader military strategy of achieving multi-domain superiority over the adversary by conducting strategic offensive operations. Integrating offensive and defensive operational capabilities plays a key role in this concept, which guarantees possession of the strategic initiative and maintenance of dominance in the international security environment and supports the idea of creating Russian spheres of influence. It also prompts NATO states to counter the supremacy of the Russian Federation.

The purpose of this article is to present the operational capabilities of the OSCE in regulating armed conflicts and their application in the former Eastern bloc countries. In order to show the role of the OSCE in the regulation of armed conflicts, OSCE operational capabilities have been structured in a conceptual grid including: OSCE regulatory tools – in the form of missions, field offices and field coordinators; regulatory mechanisms and emergency mechanisms applied in the light of the peaceful pathways of OSCE involvement in the regulatory process. The common feature of operation at each phase is the broadly understood maintenance of stability or achieving stability. There are armed conflicts against which the OSCE has selectively used regulatory activity, omitting certain phases of the conflict, and those against which the application of regulatory tools has not led to lasting stabilisation. The results presented in the paper confirm the correctness of considering the above theories against the background of the conflict cycle concept. Institutional and legal analysis and comparative analysis were used in this paper.

Based on the resource orchestration perspective, this study attempts to explain the mechanisms underlying the “capabilities-advantages” causality. This is achieved by identifying the effects of different capabilities on small and medium suppliers’ (SMSs) supply chain financing. Based on a dataset of 418 vendors for three Chinese manufacturers, we tested the hypotheses and found that: (a) operational capabilities, including improvement capability and innovation capability, have positive effects, while the effects of digitalization capabilities are complex. This is because the positive effect of information interaction capability is partially mediated by digital technology adoption. (b) Those positive effects of improvement, digital technology adoption and information interaction capability will be stronger under a low level of supply risk. This is the first study to employ the resource orchestration perspective into exploring how to improve the supply chain financing of SMSs. Blockchain technology, a brand-new category of disruptive internet technology, is frequently employed by businesses as a technological aid to enhance production procedures and reduce spending. In this paper, we will examine the effects of blockchain technology on business operations, as well as their advantages for internal business processes and their effects on external business collaboration. An examination of the literature revealed that it has largely ignored the link between blockchain technology and corporate operational capabilities based on actual data, focusing instead solely on the business process modelling and technology design process of a blockchain-based solution. As a result, this paper gathers information from African businesses that are either preparing to implement blockchain technology or already have. Quantitative analysis of the data was done. The findings indicate that one of the key driving forces for the adoption of blockchain technology is the growth of the enterprise asset scale. Additionally, this study demonstrates how implementing blockchain technology improves asset rotation rates and lowers sales expense rates. However, the adoption of blockchain technology is one of the key business choices, which is influenced by a number of significant elements, including the manager's style, the structure of human resources, and the external policy framework, in addition to the development circumstances and stage of the firm. Purpose – Collaboration and operational capabilities are two strengths for managing supply chains to achieve operational performance. In this context, this study aims to analyze the mediating effect of operational capabilities on the relationship between collaborative supply chain management and operational performance. Design/methodology/approach – The study design consisted of a theoretical framework to estimate the mediation paths by latent variable structural modeling methods. A survey of 138 respondents from Brazilian capital goods companies was conducted. Findings – The study revealed that operational capabilities partially mediate the relationship between collaborative supply chain management and operational performance. The findings provide important guidance for managers to strengthen the relationship with suppliers to continuously improve operational capability. Research limitations/implications – As the sample size was made up of 138 respondents, it was impossible to revalidate the theoretical–empirical model. New data need to be collected to re-evaluate the structural model and expand them to other economic segments. Practical implications – By examining the theoretical insights and empirical findings, the study expanded knowledge about collaborative management and the understanding of the importance of operational capabilities in the relationship between collaborative management and operational performance for management practices. Originality/value – The study developed a theoretical–empirical measurement model, reliable and statistically validated, to test the mediating effect of operational capabilities in the relationship between collaborative management and operational performance.

The purpose of this study is to explore how machine learning technologies can improve healthcare operations management. A machine learning-based model to solve a specific medical problem is developed to achieve this research purpose. Specifically, this study presents an AI solution for malaria infection diagnosis by applying the CNN (convolutional neural network) algorithm. Based on malaria microscopy image data from the NIH National Library of Medicine, a total of 24,958 images were used for deep learning training, and 2600 images were selected for final testing of the proposed diagnostic architecture. The empirical results indicate that the CNN diagnostic model correctly classified most malaria-infected and non-infected cases with minimal misclassification, with performance metrics of precision (0.97), recall (0.99), and f1-score (0.98) for uninfected cells, and precision (0.99), recall (0.97), and f1-score (0.98) for parasite cells. The CNN diagnostic solution rapidly processed a large number of cases with a high reliable accuracy of 97.81%. The performance of this CNN model was further validated through the k-fold cross-validation test. These results suggest the advantage of machine learning-based diagnostic methods over conventional manual diagnostic methods in improving healthcare operational capabilities in terms of diagnostic quality, processing costs, lead time, and productivity. In addition, a machine learning diagnosis system is more likely to enhance the financial profitability of healthcare operations by reducing the risk of unnecessary medical disputes related to diagnostic errors. As an extension for future research, propositions with a research framework are presented to examine the impacts of machine learning on healthcare operations management for safety and quality of life in global communities. Multinational companies simultaneously try to facilitate the internal transfers of operational capabilities without disclosing them to external stakeholders. To mitigate this tension, the decentralization of the decision-making and information richness of communication mechanisms are balancing parameters that can be regulated appropriately. Since digitalization has changed the coordination and interaction in intra-firm transfers, both balancing parameters need to be optimized. The present study examines how to adjust decentralization and information richness in times of digitalization by drawing on an exploratory single-case study approach in a German industry company. This research identified six sub-parameters set differently within the companyâs digital collaboration platform and video conference technology network.

Microenterprises' internal capability landscape and how it relates to the firms' global performance (GP) is sparsely studied and understood. Discrete relationships between a capability and GP may have some empirical evidence, but how microenterprises' capabilities quantitatively relate to each other and together to GP still had no answer. Our model investigates the impact of dynamic managerial capabilities (DMCs) and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on operational capabilities (OCs), and of those on GP, moderated by competitive intensity (CI). The data were acquired in a survey by questionnaire to 402 Portuguese microenterprises and treated using covariance-based structural equation modeling. We confirm that DMCs and EO have a positive, statistically significant, and substantive impact on OCs, explaining over half its variance, where any relation to GP is fully mediated by OCs. Furthermore, we found that OCs hold a positive, statistically significant, and substantive impact on GP, explaining nearly a quarter of its variance. CI as a moderator, with a marginal effects analysis, shows limited significance in a short range of values and never any substantive significance. Our results highlight that, for a healthy microenterprise business ecosystem, a great deal of attention and capacitation must be given to microenterprises' managers, specifically their DMCs, EO, and, eventually, OCs. Today, with the advent of digital developments and new technologies, the banking sector has become highly competitive and banks are working to improve their productivity and stay competitive. The purpose of the present study is to analyze the role of management and operational capabilities of digital strategy on productivity with mediating role of digital culture. This is a descriptive-correlational study and the Likert five-point spectrum questionnaire was used to collect data. The statistical population of the present study is chiefs, deputies, and management staff of the Northwest Branches of Tejarat Bank in Tehran. According to Morgan Krejcie's table, 260 people were selected from the statistical population of 152 and the sampling method was available in this study. Its content validity was confirmed by experts, academics and experts, and reliability of the instrument was at a good level by Cronbach's alpha (0.84). Structural equation modeling and in particular path analysis techniques have been used to test the research hypotheses. SPSS and PLS statistical software have been used for this purpose. The findings of the study showed that management capabilities, operational capabilities and digital culture had a significant effect on productivity and also the effect of operational capabilities on digital culture was significant but the effect of management capabilities on digital culture was not significant.

The mission of flight safety is to ensure the conditions for the conduct of aeronautical activities at an accepted level of risk. The primary objectives of aviation safety are to avoid loss of life and injury to persons. The following objectives, as a priority, are to avoid material damage and limit the effects of aviation events. As a result, at least two elements of operational capabilities are in the attention of aviation safety processes: personnel (in number and training for combat) and aircraft (in terms of their availability and performance). Our study investigates how collaboration from a triadic perspective affects the development of operational capabilities through a practice-adoption process. This research conducted a multiple case study in three triads in Brazil. The results imply that inter-organizational collaboration plays a positive role by moderating the relationship between information technology practices and the development of customization, responsiveness, and cooperation capabilities. Moreover, sharing information emerges as a critical factor for these three capabilities when collaboration is present. In addition, collaboration enables the development of improvement-thinking, dyadic-diffused relationships between buyer-supplier or supplier-supplier in an open triad. In this triadic structure, the first-tier supplier plays a unique role in information sharing and capabilities development. On the other hand, to ensure the development of other capabilities, such as responsiveness, the buyer and second-tier supplier must expand their connection to form at least a transitional structure.

The aim of this paper is to identify the main practices and capabilities developed by social enterprises and to explore the relationship between the dual organizational identity of social enterprises and their operational capabilities. A multiple case-study research is conducted comprising five cases representative of the diversity of social enterprise models. The results suggest that the operations strategy in social enterprises is influenced by their dual organizational identity and entails some operational practices and capabilities beyond those traditionally reported in manufacturing companies. They adopt a greater diversity of practices aimed at improvement and cooperation capabilities and their specificities lead to the development of the mobilization of resources capability and the openness capability. Social enterprises with a high social identity show greater evidence of the development of these operational capabilities. This study contributes to the literature on operations strategy by identifying a set of operational practices and capabilities developed by social enterprises and exploring how they are influenced by their dual organizational identity. It responds to the claims that suggest that studying social enterprises would be a fertile ground to advance theoretical and empirical research in the field of service operations. Financial institutions face a perfect storm of nonfinancial risks: climate change, COVID-19, Brexit, digital transformation and cyberattacks generate new threats and exacerbate the impact to existing systemic and organisational vulnerabilities. Regulators recognise the magnitude of the risks that institutions face and are demanding that they become resilient — that is, they are able to absorb, adapt or recover from threats, stressors or shocks. This, however, is more easily said than done. The objective of this paper is to inform senior risk professionals on how resilience might be achieved by providing a much-needed frame of reference for those planning to transform their complex and chaotic organisations to resilient complex adaptive systems. Inter alia we delineate a logical model, based on conceptualising firms as resilient complex adaptive systems (RCASs), which elaborates the necessary and sufficient conditions for resilience in organisations. This general model can be applied to substantive areas of operations within financial enterprises to make them resilient in the face of endogenous and exogenous risk events, while meeting regulatory requirements. Managers often face the need to renew their capabilities in dynamic markets. To increase their chances of success, we first offer a model of the capability‐building process that details five interconnected phases as well as the precautions and conditions to be taken into account for its completion. Our subsequent analysis of 29 empirical studies shows the advantages of integrating the routines of new capabilities, and this, for a successful process. Finally, we identify four situations around the formation of distinct capabilities, which should enlighten managers in their decision‐making in relation to the construction of new organizational capabilities. The basic aim of this study is to determine the key determinants of innovation capability. In addition to determination of key determinants of innovation capability, it also provided deeper understanding about the mediating effect of knowledge sharing on key determinants of innovation capability. It further unfolds the direct impact of knowledge sharing on innovation capabilities in context of small and medium enterprises. The paper used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses by using data collected from 91 manufacturing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered at Hattar Industrialist Association (HIA), Industrial Estate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The key findings indicate that technological capabilities, transactional capabilities and knowledge sharing are statistically significant determinants of innovation capabilities of SMEs of Pakistan. Furthermore, knowledge sharing has significant mediating effect on technological capabilities and innovation capabilities in context of SMEs of Pakistan and knowledge sharing has significant positive impact on innovation capabilities. The paper provides key insights to Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), Government of Pakistan to focus on development of SME sector by initiating key interventions that enables them to develop the innovation capabilities by focusing on development of technological and intellectual infrastructure for SMEs in Pakistan. Policy makers may use the findings of this study for the purpose of development innovation friendly policies for SMEs of Pakistan. Financial institutions like commercial banks may consider these findings for designing financing products for SMEs of Pakistan. Future studies can be conducted while enhancing the sample size and including the SMEs from services-oriented industry to have better look on determinants of innovation capability as service industry is getting significant place in knowledge economies. This paper explores the issue of improving NATO’s operational capabilities. The initial sections overview changes that have already been introduced and are expected in the international security environment in the forthcoming years. This perspective is subsequently adopted to identify the present developments in the strategic concepts of NATO with the view to formulation of appropriate operational capabilities of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Ever changing market environment in terms of technology and competitive situation requires firms to continuously reconfigure their resource configurations. Based on the dynamic capabilities view of the firm, we propose the dynamic capabilities relevant in the context of supply chains. We conceptualize dynamic capabilities of a firm as consisting of multiple levels. Capabilities at the highest level affect the formation of first order dynamic supply chain capabilities. Furthermore, first order capabilities modify the operational capabilities. We propose constructs for second and first order dynamic supply chain capabilities. Performance implications of dynamic supply chain capabilities have also been empirically tested based on data from 275 managers from Pakistani manufacturing industry. The results show a support for the assertions by dynamic capability theorists.

The most significant enterprise system topic over the last decade is business intelligence and analytics. Big data analytics is now viewed as a disruptive technology that will significantly transform business intelligence and analytics. Therefore, big data technology, as a way to analyze and comprehend turbulent environments, has attracted huge interest from researchers and practitioners. Such environments are highly challenging for enterprises; how can they deal with such turbulence and stay competitive? The valuable information that this technology can offer seems almost limitless. Can big data help organizations deal with turbulent environments, and if so, how? We address this question by closely examining the relations between (1) big data analytics capabilities and dynamic capabilities, (2) dynamic capabilities and competitive performance, (3) big data analytics capabilities and operational capabilities, and (4) operational capabilities and competitive performance. Big data analytics capabilities are necessary to use big data effectively. We developed a model with four hypotheses to investigate these relations. We conducted a survey among 107 respondents from the largest companies in the Nordic countries. All but one of our hypotheses were supported.
