Particular focus is given to her 2011 work "Listen to your soul, my blood is singing iron triggers that could be released," which consists of rifle stocks that have been transformed into a curvaceous wooden sculpture. Various other aspects of her work are explored including her use of implied violence, death and primitivism.

Abstract

The article analyzes the concept of grotesque in the films created by director David Cronenberg. Most of Cronenberg's films belong to the horror genre, which critics describe as having gothic qualities. According to the author, the grotesque attached to Cronenberg's films offers more opportunities to understand the deeper meaning of the films rather than through its gothic qualities. It is argued here that the grotesque quality of Cronenberg's films explains the peculiar political ambiguity of such old-fashioned modernist films. An exploration of grotesque art and literature is presented in an effort to show how grotesque acts as a vitalist force in the films.
