- Abstract
Innovation research has investigated the relevance of innovations for organizational competitiveness and the role of innovations for social as well as economic welfare. Accordingly, scholars and practitioners frequently emphasize the innovation processes that lead to desired innovative outcomes. Nevertheless, these innovation processes have to be carried out by motivated individuals. Increasingly, academic literature takes the mindsets of these actors into consideration. However, diverging conceptualizations limit our understanding of the term'mindset'and the role of individuals'mindsets in organizational innovation efforts. This book aims at opening the “black box” of innovation as a mindset. Linking mindset theories from social psychology to the context of frugal innovation, the author provides rigorous conceptual work on mindsets in innovation. This conceptual research is supported by findings from two empirical studies. This book makes important contributions to theoryand practice: to academic research by developing conceptual clarity on understanding innovation as a mindset and providing supportive empirical evidence, and to innovation practice by showing how a detailed understanding of individuals'mindsets can inform evidence-based change interventions.

6. Employee Retention in Change Management Processes. Practical Experience

- Abstract
Document from the year 2023 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Leadership,, language: English, abstract: Retaining employees for the long term within the framework of change management processes is a challenging management task. In change management processes, a fundamental distinction must be made between incremental change management and radical change management. While incremental change happens continuously and is integrated into everyday work, radical change represents a strategic realignment of the company, which is predominantly associated with staff reductions and is intended to change the corporate culture. This is particularly true in the case of turnarounds, where cost-cutting programs play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term survival of the company. Employees are more willing to go along with incremental change, also known as continuous improvement, than with radical change, as these could also be affected by staff reductions. This stirs up fears among employees and therefore often leads to high turnover. Therefore, it is important for management to actively involve employees in the changes to empower them to act as change agents so that they can actively shape the change. To do this, it is crucial to identify the key personnel that a company cannot do without. The management and key personnel are given the task of actively accompanying the company's employees on the journey of change so that the company can grow sustainably again from a lower level after the strategic realignment so that the remaining employees have a prosperous future. Open communication and excellent transparency on the part of the management, which should also act as a unit, help to bring the employees along on the change journey in a targeted manner. However, experience has shown that 50% of all change management projects in the industry fail and 20% are implemented inadequately due to two crucial reasons, namely power struggles within management and resistance from employees. For this reason, it is imperative that a company's management team select a leadership coalition of similarly rational members who also have sufficient empathy to successfully manage the change management process, which must be done together with employees and should not be directed against them. The guiding coalition should develop a common strategic vision and practice a participative way of working involving everyone, since the goal of transformation is to change the thinking of employees, and transformation can only be brought about together with employees.

- Abstract
To position an organization for growth, you cannot shy away from disruptive, high-stakes, pivotal decisions about the future. So why DO you?Why do so many smart leaders cringe when they face disruption? Most people think of disruption as negative while some leaders make disruption their goal. Organizational Psychologist Dr. Linda Henman considers both approaches preventable and costly mistakes. The surprising truth about improving anything you do—personally, professionally, publicly, or privately—lies at the intersection of your ability to think abstractly and your willingness to take prudent risks.Drawing on a rich trove of original, cutting-edge research and four decades'worth of consulting, Henman knows what it takes to succeed in the C-suite. She dispels myths by presenting a clear and compelling summary of what she has observed—and in many cases, helped to create. Her in-the-trenches experiences spurred her to arrive at this conclusion: Myths about leadership have blinded us to what leaders really do. Many leaders believe in the concept of creative disruption but remain skeptical about trusting it. Jam-packed with big ideas, Risky Business arrives just in time—a rare book that will transform the way you think about risk, change the way you view disruption, and help you understand what you must do to think strategically, to grow dramatically, and to do it quickly. Inspiring and revelatory, filled with story-driven narratives and practical takeaways, Risky Business brings together decades of counterintuitive research to shed light on how you can effect change.

- Subjects
- Employee motivation, Consolidation and merger of corporations--Psychological aspects, Organizational change--Psychological aspects, Personnel management
- Abstract
This book takes a fresh perspective to acquisition research, focusing on employee emotions. It builds on the human-centric approach to mergers and acquisitions, where previous literature has concluded that emotions are important, yet few studies have explored them in depth. To fill the gap, this book takes emotion research in organizations as its starting point, exploring what emotions are, how they emerge, and how they influence organizational contexts, such as acquisitions. Whereas previous acquisition literature has concluded that emotions are most often negative and lead to complications, this book shows how emotions can become a positive force driving post-acquisition change and unification. This book combines multidisciplinary theoretical insights with practical real-world case studies to provide detailed analysis and approachable findings that will appeal to academics and practitioners alike.

- Abstract
First published in 1992. Organisational change and innovation has been at the centre of much management literature, which has been informed by debates in organizational behaviour and strategic management. The psychology of how people in organizations adapt to and manage change is key to our understanding of the processes by which such changes can occur successfully. Organizational Change and Innovation brings together the recent research findings of leading European work and organization psychologists, who take stock of existing theories about organizational change in the light of new case material. Their findings, from a range of cultural and national contexts, challenge some previously accepted models and set a new agenda for future research. In particular, the volume provides new perspectives on the person organization relationship; the political qualities of organizational change; the input-output model of organizations as entities; and finally on research methodology.

- Abstract
This book provides a comprehensive view of the application of Relational Gestalt theory to Organisation Development and change interventions in organisations. Uncertainty and frequent change are the hallmark of our times. In the field of Organisational Development and Change, fixed methodologies no longer adequately address the uncertainty and uniqueness of today's more complex change situations and more adaptive approaches to change are needed. Gestalt is a relational, dialogic, and emergent approach which means that it views individuals and organisations as embedded in their context, dependent on, and emerging from within a web of relationships and interactions. As such, Gestalt offers a transformative, integral and bespoke methodology for working with this complexity. This approach supports practitioners to attend to their presence, seek out the most pressing issues and mobilise for sustainable change. Gestalt has at its heart the notion of use-of-self as instrument which allows practitioners to be responsive to emergent issues and situations. Relational Organisational Gestalt is at the leading-edge of Gestalt theory and application in organisational settings.

- Subjects
- Personnel management, Business, Management--Employee participation, Organizational change--Psychological aspects, Change (Psychology), Leadership, Planning
- Abstract
This handbook is based on the premise that there can be no organizational transformation without personal transformation. Anything else is just moving the chairs around on the deck of the Titanic, and we see that all too often in organizations today. Einstein said that we cannot solve problems from the same mindset that created the problems. In order to see positive change occur in the world, we must shift our consciousness to a high level of thinking and being, but we must also have systems or approaches that scale up, so that there is a collective shift in consciousness in groups, work teams, villages, governments, and corporations. This handbook aims to draw the best and most creative thinking about the field of transformation in one place, to present a comprehensive overview of leading edge transformation theories and approaches for both the academic and the practitioner. In fact, the lines between academic and practitioner are becoming more and more blurred these days. Many management faculty also consult to organizations, a practice that deeply enriches their teaching and research. And many successful full-time consultants conduct high quality research to support their approaches and change initiatives. This Handbook aims to be a creative dialogue in this space that integrates transformation theory and practice. The Handbook of Personal and Organizational Transformation acknowledges the classic literature and principles that have informed the field to date, but primarily showcases authors who are on the cutting edge of new theories and new approaches to give us their latest thinking. Some of these ideas are conjecture about what is possible in human and organizational development. Some of these approaches are currently being tested in the field and may not yet have scientific results. And some of these theories and models have stunning results, but may nothave been published in academic journals because the author is a practitioner instead of an academic, or because the concepts are a little too far out of the mainstream. The aim of this book is to expand the reader's thinking and to encourage readers to be courageous about their involvement in creating transformation, at whatever level they feel called to do so. It will serve as an essential resource for researchers and students of organizational culture, leadership, and change management, as well as consultants, business and team leaders, and anyone interested in global trends and their impact on corporate culture.

Bahnbrechend. Inspirierend.

- Abstract
Change management and organizational development is unthinkable without people. Human beings form its core as both subjects and objects of change. This volume attempts to cut through to the core of change management, to the people that stand at its heart and focuses on their intrinsic role in change management and organizational development. Topics covered in this volume encompass the human element within organizational change, how this impacts roles, dynamics of team interaction and affects the workplace in teaching and learning settings. It also addresses resistance to institutional and organizational change and the central role that agile management plays in this process.

Individual adaptability to changes at work refers to an individual's response to new demands or ill-defined problems created by uncertainty, complexity, mergers, and any rapid change in the work situation. Today, one of the key factors for an individual's success is said to be adaptability. In the past two decades there has been increasing interest in the research on individual adaptability, and this is one of the first academic volumes to look at this important topic. Specific contexts examined include work-family conflict, retirement, career management and intercultural interaction at the workplace. The book will provide a comprehensive and integrated analysis of the conceptual, assessment and contextual issues that will help identify the current trends and emerging themes in adaptability research.

- Abstract

- Abstract

- Abstract
In a rapidly changing world, with constantly shifting dynamics, organizational change may prove essential if businesses are to continue to succeed. The majority of research on organizational change adopts a macro outlook, focusing on strategic issues from the perspective of the organization and its management. In this volume we undertake a micro perspective, focusing on the individual and, more specifically, the importance of the employees and their reactions to organizational change. This focus expands our understanding of why change initiatives frequently fail. The Psychology of Organizational Change constitutes an essential resource for scholars, students, and practitioners in the field of organizational change and development who strive to understand how to make change work not only for the organization, but also for its members.
