Orthocladius maius Goetghebuer, 1942 Orthocladius maius Goetghebuer, 1942 Orthocladius Pe 6 Langton, 1984 (Langton 1991: 188; Langton & Cranston 1991) DESCRIPTION. The pupa is characterized by the presence of a round field of median points, which are more developed than the lateral ones and by the absence of taeniate extensions of cuticle at the tips of anal lobes. COMMENTS. The round field of median points may be the only character state useful to separate the species from O. glabripennis; a round field of median points is also observed in other species (O. oblidens, O. rivinus), but adult male examination (Langton & Pinder, personal communication) confirms it is a separate species.
