La pequeña ciudad navarra de Corella, alberga en sus calles más de una veintena de edificios barrocos incluyendo palacios, parroquias y conventos. La arquitectura que inunda sus calles da testimonio del que un día fue uno de los núcleos urbanos más pujantes dentro del territorio navarro, donde un gran número de nobles y comerciantes catapultaron su desarrollo durante los siglos XVII y XVIII. Se ubica al sur de Navarra, en la Merindad de Tudela, a orillas del río Ebro y donde históricamente se ha producido un estrecho contacto con los antiguos reinos de Castilla y Aragón. La situación geográfica, social y climática lejos del ámbito de influencia de la capital, Pamplona, propició un desarrollo artístico en paralelo de la Merindad de Tudela, hecho que se acentuó en Corella debido a la concentración de riqueza y poder de sus pobladores. Corella es hogar de peculiares fachadas de entre tres y cuatro alturas coronadas en ocasiones por áticos o galerías, que cuentan con un dinámico juego de luces y sombras gracias a sus relieves en ladrillo. Estos edificios albergan impresionantes escudos, que junto con una rejería muy trabajada y marcadas portadas de piedra dan lugar a suntuosas residencias. Todas estas características convierten el paseo por la ciudad en un teatro barroco al aire libre, cuyas fachadas de una curiosa identidad se encuentran hoy en día en peligro de desaparecer.

L'estudi dels pèptids reconeguts pels timòcits en el tim humà té importància per conèixer el procés de maduració dels limfòcits T. Un investigador de la UAB ha publicat un protocol per purificar els pèptids associats a molècules HLA del timus i analitzar a través de l'espectrometria de masses els pèptids imprescindibles per a la maduració i l'aprenentatge dels limfòcits T al timus humà. El estudio de los péptidos reconocidos por los timocitos en el timo humano tiene relevancia para conocer el proceso de maduración de los linfocitos T. Un investigador de la UAB ha publicado un protocolo para purificar los repertorios peptídicos asociados a moléculas de HLA en el timo y analizar mediante espectrometría de masas los péptidos imprescindibles para la maduración y aprendizaje de los linfocitos T en el timo humano. The study of the peptides recognized by the thymocytes in the human thymus has importance to know the process of maturation of T lymphocytes. A UAB researcher has published a protocol to purify the peptides repertoires associated to HLA molecules in the thymus and their analysis by mass spectrometry required for the maturation and learning of T lymphocytes in the human thymus.

Three-dimensional (3D) motion capture systems have been used to identify athletes in high risk of injury, but due to their cost, lack of portability and qualified technicians, an alternative is needed, such as two-dimensional (2D) systems. The purpose of this study was to examine the criterion-related validity of three measures of frontal plane knee alignment (Frontal plane projection angle [FPPA], knee-to-ankle separation ratio [KASR] and knee medial displacement [KMD]) and two sagittal plane measures (hip and knee flexion ranges of motion [ROMs]), recorded simultaneously using a 2D video analysis procedure and a 3D motion analysis system. Twenty-nine male futsal players had frontal and sagittal plane kinematics assessed while performing bilateral drop vertical jumps (DVJ). The criterion-related validity of the frontal and sagittal plane kinematic measures obtained using the 2D video analysis procedure and 3D motion system was determined through the estimation equation, typical error of the estimate (TEEST) and validity correlation (r). Kappa correlations were also calculated to determine the agreement between the 2D and 3D kinematic approaches. The results showed poor validity for the FPPA measure (standardized TEEST = 1.34 [large], r = 0.60) and moderate validity for KASR (standardized TEEST = 0.88 [moderate], r = 0.77), KMD (standardized TEEST = 0.53 [small], r = 0.88), hip flexion ROM (standardized TEEST = 0.62 [moderate], r = 0.85) and knee flexion ROM (standardized TEEST = 0.56 [small], r = 0.87) measures. However, only the KMD and knee flexion ROM measures showed high levels of agreement (kappa > 0.7). Therefore, the KMD and knee flexion ROM measures calculated during a bilateral DVJ and using a 2D video analysis procedure might be considered as valid and feasible alternatives to their respective 3D criterion to quantify knee kinematics and to detect futsal players who demonstrated aberrant movement patterns in the frontal and sagittal planes, respectively.

Els denominadors de les fraccions contínues finites estan relacionats amb famílies de polinomis ortogonals. Les propietats de les arrels de les seqüències de polinomis ortogonals permeten trobar explícitament el comportament asimptòtic de certes funcions generadores, així com de paràmetres relacionats. El nombre de passes cap "amunt" en una àmplia varietat de camins en una graella amb pesos d'alçada fitada satisfà asimptòticament una distribució normal amb mitjana i variància lineals. El número de pasos hacia "arriba" en una amplia variedad de caminos en una cuadrícula con pesos de altura acotada satisface asintóticamente una distribución normal con media y variancia lineal. Continued fractions allow to describe naturally the generating function of labelled lattice paths with bounded height. Several combinatorial problems have a natural bijection to these paths and their generating functions are expressible by continued fractions. The denominators of the finite continued fractions are related to families of orthogonal polynomials. The properties of the roots of orthogonal polynomial sequences allow to find explicitly the asymptotic behaviour of some generating functions, as well as parameters related to them. The number of "up" steps in a wide variety of weighted lattice paths of bounded height is shown to be asymptotically normal with linear mean and variance. Outgoing

Condensation water is a major factor in the conservation of heritage caves. It can cause dissolution of the rock substrate (and the pigments of rock art drawn on it) or covering thereof with mineral components, depending on the chemical saturation degree of the condensation water. In show caves, visitors act as a source of CO2 and thus modify the microclimate, favouring negative processes that affect the conservation of the caves. In spite of their interest, studies of the chemical composition of this type of water are scarce and not very detailed. In this work we present research on the condensation water in the Nerja Cave, one of the main heritage and tourist caves in Europe. The joint analysis of isotopic, hydrochemical, mineralogical and microbiological data and the use of image analysis have allowed us to advance in the knowledge of this risk factor for the conservation of heritage caves, and to demonstrate the usefulness of image analysis to quantify the scope of the possible corrosion condensation process that the condensation water could be producing on the bedrock, speleothem and rock art.
