Bu çalışmada, birdoğalgaz motorunda farklı biyodizel pilot yakıt püskürtme basınçlarınınperformans karakteristiklerine etkileri stokastik reactor modele (SRM) dayanan‘Kinetics & SRM Engine Suite’ yazılımı kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Motorunyanma işleminin benzetimini yapmak için bu gelişmiş yazılım yakıtların kimyasalkinetik mekanizmalarını kullanır. Bu çalışmada, biyodizel yakıtı yansıtmak için71 bileşen ve 217 reaksiyon içeren ‘Metil dekanoat/metil-9 dekenoat/n-heptan’kimyasal kinetik mekanizması biyodizelin yerini tutan yakıt kimyasal kinetikmekanizması olarak tanımlanmıştır. Yazılım araçları vasıtasıyla ayarlananteorik model deneysel very aracılığıyla doğrulanmıştır. Sonrasında, biyodizelpilot yakıtlı doğalgaz motorunun motor performans karakteristiklerini incelemekiçin benzetim işlemi üç farklı stokastik parçacık sayısında (50, 100 ve 150)gerçekleştirilmiştir. Pilot yakıt püskürtme basıncının artmasıyla motordöndürme momenti ve efektif gücün arttığı fakat özgül yakıt tüketimininazaldığı gözlemlenmiştir. Buna ek olarak, simülasyonda kullanılan çeşitlistokastik parçacık sayılarının benzetimi yapılmış motor performans karakteristikverilerini önemli ölçüde etkilemediği saptanmıştır., In this study, theeffects of different biodiesel pilot fuel injection pressures on performancecharacteristics of a natural gas engine were investigated using ‘Kinetics &SRM Engine Suite’ software which is based on stochastic reactor model (SRM).This advanced software uses chemical kinetic mechanisms of fuels to simulatecombustion process of the engine. ‘Methyl decanoate/methyl-9-decenoate/n-heptane’reduced chemical kinetic mechanism including 71 species and 217 reactions weredefined as a biodiesel surrogate fuel chemical kinetic mechanism to representbiodiesel fuel in this study. Theoretical model set by the way of softwaretools was validated by experimental data. Then, simulation was run in threedifferent stochastic particle numbers (50, 100, and 150) to investigate engineperformance characteristics of a biodiesel pilot-fueled natural gas engine. Itis observed that as pilot fuel injection pressure increases, engine torque andbrake power enhance, but brake specific fuel consumption decreases.Furthermore, various stochastic particle numbers used in the simulation did notdramatically affect data of engine performance characteristics simulated.

In this study, heat release rate (HRR) characteristics of natural-gas (NG) dual-fuel (DF) engine using biodiesel pilot fuel were investigated by stochastic reactor model (SRM). SRM Engine Suite software having solution method in zero-dimensional was used to apply stochastic reactor model into the DF engine. Results of the study were validated by the experimental data obtained from biodiesel pilot fuelled NG engine. Biodiesel surrogate fuel was considered as a mixture of methyl decanoate (25 v%), methyl-9-decenoate (25 v%) and n-heptane (50 v%) and its skeletal kinetic mechanism includes 71 species and 217 reactions. In addition, it is shown that biodiesel surrogate fuel chemical kinetic mechanism could represent soy biodiesel fuel. Case studies were realized under 50, 100, 150 and 200 stochastic particles with 120 MPa pilot fuel injection pressure and 17°BTDC pilot fuel injection timing conditions in the simulations. It was observed that SRM method is a good tool to investigate HRR of biodiesel pilot fuelled DF engine.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, iki alternatif yakıtın çift yakıtlı motorda birlikte yakılmasının motor performansı ve egzoz emisyonları üzerine etkilerini teorik olarak incelemektir. Teorik çalışmada kullanılan yöntem stokastik reaktör model yaklaşımıdır ve yaklaşım temel olarak olasılık yoğunluk fonksiyonuna (PDF) dayanmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımı temel alan motor simülasyon yazılımı ana yakıt doğalgaz ve pilot yakıt biyodizel içeren çift yakıtlı motorda simülasyon yapmak için kullanılmıştır. Yazılım yakıtların detaylı ve indirgenmiş kimyasal kinetik mekanizmalarıyla çalışmaktadır. Çalışmada kullanılan biyodizel kimyasal kinetik mekanizması 71 bileşen ve 217 reaksiyon içeren indirgenmiş metil dekanoat/metil-9-dekenoat/n-heptan ile temsil edilmektedir. Biyodizelin doğalgaz motorunda yanmasını temsil eden toplam 80 farklı durum için simülasyonlar parametrik olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Motor performansı açısından silindir basıncı ve ısı açığa çıkış oranı karakteristikleri ve egzoz emisyonları incelenmiştir. Optimum durumlarda simülasyon basınç ve ısı açığa çıkış oranı karakteristiklerinin deneysel veriyle uyumlu olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Egzoz emisyonları açısından NOX emisyonu haricindeki diğer emisyonların deneysel veriye yakın sonuçlar vermediği gözlemlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar stokastik reaktör modelin çift yakıtlı motorların incelenmesinde etkin bir şekilde kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir. Bununla beraber, simülasyonun hassasiyeti kullanılan yakıtların kimyasal kinetik mekanizmalarının doğruluğuna bağlı olduğu yapılan çalışma ile açıkça ortaya konmuştur. The aim of this study is to examine theoretically the influences of simultaneous combustion of two alternative fuels in dual fuel engine on engine performance and exhaust emissions. Method used in this theoretical study is stochastic reactor model approach and the approach is based on probability density function (PDF) as a basis. An engine simulation software based on this approach were utilized to simulate in dual fuel engine included biodiesel as a pilot fuel and natural gas as a main fuel. The software is to run with detailed and reduced chemical kinetic mechanisms. The chemical kinetic mechanism of biodiesel used in this study is represented with reduced methyl decanoate/methyl-9-decenoate/n-heptane contained 71 species and 217 reactions. Simulations were parametrically performed for total 80 different cases exemplified combustion of the biodiesel in natural gas engine. Cylinder pressure and heat release rate characteristics in terms of engine performance and exhaust emissions were investigated. It was observed that simulation pressure and heat release rate characteristics are accordant with experimental data in optimum cases. It was observed that other emissions, excluding NOx emission, did not give results close to experimental data in terms of exhaust emissions. The observed results shows that stochastic reactor model is effectively utilized to investigate the dual fuel engines. In addition, simulation precision is clearly revealed with performed study that utilized fuels depended on accuracy of the chemical kinetic mechanisms. 161
