This study aimed to investigate the differential relationship between Temperament, Executive Functioning (EF) and Media Use Motivations and the frequency of two kinds of Media Multitasking (MM) in early adolescence. Results showed differential roles of temperamental Effortful Control, Negative Affectivity and Affiliativeness in predicting academic MM and MM with other media activities. Greater EF deficits in inhibition predicted more frequent MM with other media activities and fewer EF deficits in monitoring predicted more frequent academic MM. Significant relationships have also been found between some Media Use Motivations and MM. These results are discussed in the context of the changes in adolescents' relationship to technology that have been brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and persist after its end. Implications also center on the need to consider the context and factors that generated MM in the first place to better understand MM effects.

Despite the ongoing debate in academic circles regarding the impact of the arts on individual and collective well-being, there is a paucity of empirical research in this area. Nevertheless, recent studies have begun to establish a significant correlation between arts engagement and a range of positive outcomes. The objective of this study is to enhance the existing conceptual framework by providing empirical evidence of how early exposure to and active engagement with the arts can influence the development of character strengths within an educational context. A comparative design was employed in the study, which included 993 fifth- and sixth-grade students in Spain. The control group consisted of students with no interest or participation in artistic activities, while the experimental group demonstrated both interest and active participation in the arts. A quantitative approach was employed to collect data via a validated questionnaire, which was then analysed to discern relationships between variables using correlation techniques and non-parametric tests. The findings indicate a significant correlation between students' interest and participation in artistic activities and their perception of character strengths. In particular, engagement with the arts is associated with higher levels of character strengths linked to the virtue of wisdom and knowledge, including creativity and a love of learning. This research makes a significant contribution to the existing body of knowledge on the role of the arts in fostering character strengths and the application of positive psychology in well-being. It highlights the importance of integrating the arts into educational settings as a central component. Furthermore, the document puts forth recommendations for future interventions.

The primary objective of this study was to examine the five major personality factors and assess the extent of moral intelligence among students at the World Islamic Sciences University. Additionally, the research aimed to identify the predictive capacity of the five major personality factors on moral intelligence. The study involved a sample of 665 students from the World Islamic Sciences University. To measure these variables, scales were developed for both the five major personality factors and moral intelligence. The study findings revealed that conscientious vigilance emerged as one of the predominant factors among the students. Furthermore, the overall level of moral intelligence was determined to be of a moderate degree. The findings further demonstrated that personality factors, including neuroticism, conscientiousness, kindness, and openness to experience, collectively played a significant role in explaining the variations in moral intelligence levels. Notably, the study revealed statistically significant differences in the neurotic factor and moral intelligence. However, no statistically significant differences, at the 0.05 significance level, were observed in other personality factors (extroversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, kindness) based on the gender variable. As a recommendation, the study emphasized the importance of enhancing students' personalities and enriching their knowledge and experiences. It suggested that university deans and student affairs staff should organize lectures aimed at fostering the development of desired personal traits. These initiatives would contribute to instilling values and ethical standards, thereby nurturing creative and ethical young leaders.

Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used to explore the simultaneous supervision experiences of counselors-in-training. Simultaneous supervision is when a supervisee receives clinical supervision from multiple supervisors. Sometimes this supervision includes a university supervisor and a site supervisor. Other times this supervision occurs when a student has multiple sites in one semester and receives supervision at each site. Counselors-in-training described their experiences with simultaneous supervision during the course of their education. Four superordinate themes emerged: making sense of multiple perspectives, orchestrating the process, supervisory relationship dynamics, and personal dispositions and characteristics. Results indicated that counselors-in-training experienced compounded benefits and challenges. Implications for supervisors, supervisees, and counselor education programs are provided.

The paper highlights the use of Learning Stories in a teacher preparation program and student perspectives on the value of narrative assessment in their work with children, their mentors, and families.

The intellectually gifted have been found to have higher levels of many prosocial dispositions, but there is limited evidence of increased prosocial behavior. The present research used existing and original datasets to examine relations between intellectual giftedness and prosocial behavior and dispositions. In Study 1, those identified as intellectually gifted engaged in more political and helping behaviors than those not identified as intellectually gifted. In Study 2, gifted-identified undergraduate students reported more prosocial behavior (e.g., volunteering and giving) than nonidentified students; however, there were no clear differences in dispositions (e.g., personality and motivation) between gifted-identified and nonidentified students. Implications of these consistent linkages between intellectual giftedness and engaging in prosocial behavior for future research and practical applications are discussed.

Previous research suggests that environment can play an important role in encouraging or discouraging creative expression and productivity. Additional research has uncovered a discrepancy between the creativity students express at school and the creativity they express outside of school. The fact that, in previous research, students expressed more creativity outside of school than when in school implies that school discourages creativity. So far, the creativity gap has only been studied with nongifted students. One objective of the present investigation was to check for a similar discrepancy among gifted learners. Four hundred and eighty-seven middle school and high school students from the State of Kuwait (240 gifted and 247 nongifted) were recruited. The "Creativity Activities and Accomplishment Checklist" (CAAC) was administered to compare students' creative activities at home and school. The primary finding of this investigation was that the strength of the relationship between creativity at home and creativity at school differed in gifted and nongifted students. What was called a creativity "gap" existed in both groups, but it was smaller in the gifted group. A second finding was that gifted students expressed more creativity at school compared with the nongifted group, in particular CAAC domains. There were no differences between the gifted and the nongifted groups in the creativity expressed at home, except for one subscale, namely everyday creativity. Although gifted students expressed more creativity at school, compared with their nongifted peers, they were nonetheless more creative at home compared with school. Finally, hierarchical regression analyses indicated that measure of personality significantly moderated the relationship between creativity at home and creativity at school. Limitations and future directions are discussed.

The purpose of the current study was to use the infant sibling design to explore whether proband traits of autism and ADHD could provide information about their infant sibling's temperament. This could help us to gain information about the extent to which infant temperament traits are differentially associated with autism and ADHD traits. We used parent-ratings of autistic traits and ADHD traits (CRS-3) in older siblings diagnosed with autism (age range 4 to 19 years), and their infant siblings' temperament traits (IBQ) at 9 months of age in 216 sibling pairs from two sites (BASIS, UK, and EASE, Sweden) to examine associations across siblings. We found specific, but modest, associations across siblings after controlling for sex, age, developmental level and site. Proband autistic traits were specifically related to low levels of approach in the infant siblings, with infant developmental level explaining part of the variance in infant approach. Proband ADHD traits were specifically related to high levels of infant activity even after controlling for covariates. Our findings suggest that proband traits of autism and ADHD carry information for infant sibling's temperament, indicating that inherited liability may influence early emerging behaviours in infant siblings. The impact of sex, age, developmental level and site are discussed.

Teacher-family partnerships are crucial elements of high-quality early childhood education. The factors influencing these partnerships, particularly for children under age 3, are not well known. This study compares teachers' and mothers' perspectives on their partnership and the ideal practices they would like to see implemented. Additionally, it investigates child, family, and program-level factors predictive of partnership practices. Participants were mothers and teachers of 90 infants who completed the Real-Ideal Teacher-parents Partnership Scale; mothers rated child's temperament, and classroom quality was observed 6-months after infants entered childcare. Home environment was assessed before infants entered childcare. Both mothers and teachers reported a medium-high number of practices being implemented, but ideally, would like more practices to be implemented. The frequency of mother and teacher reports of real and ideal practices were significantly associated, although teacher reports were higher. Findings from the regression analyses showed that teacher level of education (having a Master) was uniquely and positively associated with both teachers' and mothers' reports of real partnership practices, and was significantly associated with teachers' reports of ideal partnership practices. Mothers' education level predicted their ideal partnership practices. Findings highlight the importance of teacher education for partnerships, especially considering the variability in legal requirements regarding qualifications for teaching infants across Europe.

As online learning has become an inevitable trend in the post-peak era of the COVID-19 pandemic, distributed pair programming (DPP) is gaining momentum in both education and industry. DDP serves as a collaborative programming approach and also benefits the development of computational thinking, a fundamental skill in today's world. This study conducted a systematic review of studies on DPP published after 2010 to understand the themes and factors that impact the team effectiveness of DPP and thus inform future research and practices on how to better leverage this approach for teaching and learning. The results showed that individual characteristics attracted major investigations in the selected 23 studies, including prior programming experience, actual skill, perceived skill, gender, personality, time management, confidence, and self-esteem, with pair compatibility identified as a critical team design factor that significantly affects programmers' satisfaction. Although the feel-good factor in the team process was investigated, no significant impact was found. Under the team environment theme, we compared different opinions on the orientation (e.g., scripted roles) and the use of technology (e.g., integrated development environment tools). Future research should investigate how task structure influences team effectiveness of DPP and relates to computational thinking education. Additionally, because most studies were conducted in higher education contexts, more research in primary and secondary educational contexts is also needed.

This study utilised the Early Growth and Development Study (N = 561 adoptive children; 57.2% male, 55.3% White), a study of children adopted at birth, to examine heritable (birth parent psychopathology) and prenatal risk (prenatal maternal distress and smoking during pregnancy), infant negative affectivity, adoptive parent over-reactivity and warmth as independent predictors of childhood externalising symptoms. The current study evaluated if: (1) infant negative affectivity and over-reactive parenting are candidate mediators for the effects of heritable and prenatal risk on externalising symptoms and (2) parental warmth weakens the influence of heritable risk, prenatal risk, negative affectivity and over-reactive parenting on externalising symptoms. There were main effects of heritable risk, infant negative affectivity and over-reactive parenting on child externalising symptoms. The study found no support for the hypothesised mediation and moderation effects, suggesting that targeting parental over-reactivity rather than warmth would be more effective in reducing the risk for childhood externalising symptoms.

The contradictions of human development nowadays are related to the educational environment, which is characterized by changes induced by globalization and modern technologies; therefore, the activation of the potential of personality is becoming increasingly important, which is impossible without the training of purposeful and motivated teachers at the institutions of higher education. The aim of the article is to analyze the opinions of students, pre-service preschool teachers, about teacher purposefulness in the context of sustainability. The research methodology includes the theoretical method -- the analysis of theoretical literature and the empirical method -- a survey of 271 pre-service teachers, i.e., 1st-year part-time students at the University of Latvia. The results of the study show that future preschool teachers' understanding of purposefulness is related to their life experiences and is formed in relation to the development of personal goals.

The academic achievement gap in the USA persists, despite significant effort made to close it. This has led many researchers to investigate individual and social characteristics that reliably predict academic success in the face of adversity. Structural equation modeling was used to investigate six models with the aim of clarifying the interrelationships between dispositional, social, and school-based social protective factors and academic achievement with 535 college undergraduate students (mean age = 22.45). Determination, self-esteem, self-concept, and connection to school were found to have a positive relationship to academic achievement. Inconsistent with a large body of past research, several negative relationships were found in models involving self-esteem and self-concept between protective factors. Significant, cross-system, relationships were evident for protective factors. Results of this study provide support for the use of the social ecological model of resilience in academic achievement research so that interventions can be developed to help all students succeed.

Extant literature has demonstrated that children's diurnal stress physiology often looks different on childcare versus home days. Specifically, children experience a rise in cortisol, rather than a decline, over the day while in full-time care. Additionally, temperamental fit within classroom environment may influence both child and teacher cortisol and outcomes. The current study investigated whether teachers' cortisol levels (n = 11) were associated with child cortisol levels (n = 71, mean age = 4.18 ± 0.81, 51% female) in the classroom while taking into account temperament, child sex assigned at birth, and classroom quality. Cortisol samples were collected on consecutive days at home and childcare for children, and at childcare for teachers. We hypothesized that (1) teacher cortisol will predict child afternoon cortisol, (2) that a portion of the variance in this relationship will be accounted for by classroom quality. Using a cross-sectional design, children in this sample had higher cortisol values in the afternoon while at childcare than at similar times of day at home. Teachers demonstrated a typical diurnal decline across the day but variation in total cortisol output at childcare. Two distinct predictors of afternoon cortisol levels were identified in children attending childcare: child age and mean teacher cortisol levels across the day, while negative affect and classroom quality were not significant. Younger children and children whose teachers had higher mean cortisol levels were more likely to have high afternoon cortisol at childcare. Higher diurnal cortisol values for teachers may indicate a higher stress environment for both teachers and children. These preliminary findings suggest that teacher stress may not only have implications for children in terms of teacher burnout, high staff turnover, and learning, but possibly also for children's health and well-being. Implications for research and policy, as well as limitations and strengths, are discussed.

This research analyzed the predictive effect of personality types on online unethical behaviors and the relationship between these two variables. Online unethical behaviors are discussed in terms of gender, educational level, and ethics course experience. The study group of the research conducted in the correlational survey model consisted of 269 female and 261 male university students studying at the associate and undergraduate levels. The research data were collected using the Five Factor Personality Scale and the Online Unethical Behavior Scale. Correlation, independent samples t-test, and stepwise regression analysis were used in the data analysis. As a result, agreeableness and conscientiousness personality types were found to predict online unethical behaviors. Further, the correlation analysis results indicated that all personality types except neuroticism had a negative and significant relationship with online unethical behaviors. Additionally, the t-test results suggest a significant relationship between gender and online unethical behaviors. Overall, the study concluded that there was no significant relationship in terms of ethics course experience and educational level. The findings were discussed within the literature framework, and suggestions are given.

The purpose of this study was to find the differences and relationships between student responses, student character, and student attitudes towards the inquiry learning model for physics subjects. The contribution given in this study is useful if the student's response to learning is not good then there are problems in the learning taught by the teacher so that the teacher can improve better teaching techniques. This study uses mixed research methods designed with an explanatory design which is a combination of two methods, namely quantitative and qualitative research methods. The results of the t-test and correlation test of student variables, student character, and student responses can be said to be good but need to be improved optimally so that these variables are beneficial to students. The conclusion of this study is that there is a comparison and influence between students, student characters, and student responses at State Senior High School (SMA) 10 Jambi City on the inquiry learning model in physics subjects. The implication of this research is very important, namely the short-term impact of this research is useful and can be used as a benchmark to improve the quality of student responses, student character, and student attitudes, especially at the high school level.

This study aims to develop a schoolpreneur model appropriate for Malaysia's secondary school environment. The current study surveyed students participating in the Program Tunas Commerce (PROTUNe) and the Young Entrepreneurs Association (PUM) in the states of Perak, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan to accomplish these purposes. A survey-based technique was used to collect data, and 400 students participated. With a cross-sectional research design, this research uses a quantitative research methodology. This research employed exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM) for statistical analysis. The study's findings show that six highlighted factors can be incorporated to develop a schoolpreneur model. These factors all significantly affect the schoolpreneur model. A significant correlation of the schoolpreneur model of more than 60% indicates the significance of talent skills, mentors, incubators, individual personality, role models, and family background in the development of the schoolpreneur model. As a result, secondary schools can conduct entrepreneurial activities better due to the development of the schoolpreneur model. [Note: The year (2022) shown on the PDF is incorrect. Today, in the context of the Black Lives Matter movement and an increased focus on antiracism, P-12 and higher education institutions are engaged in studying practices and resources from an (in)equity lens. This study explores disposition expectations for teacher candidates noted in the form of a rubric drawing on Critical Race Theory (Ladson-Billings & Tate, 1995). Characteristics of White Supremacy Culture (Okun, 2021) also grounded the study and were used as themes determined a priori. Researchers engaged in document analysis to analyze and code the rubric (Bowen, 2009; Corbin & Strauss, 2007). Findings show evidence of white supremacy culture in dispositional expectations. These findings reveal the need to challenge current expectations for teacher candidates to disrupt the white supremacy culture that permeates teacher education. Implications provide ideas for future research and practices that are flexible, collaborative, and critical.

The mindfulness-based methods are on the rise in the mental health care of students as well as employees. Therefore, the research on self-compassion is necessary to explore abilities and personality traits that are cultivated by the mindfulness approach. Our research deals with the assessment of the level of self-compassion by the students of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Czech University of Life Sciences to precise the planned mindfulness-based intervention. Further, the gender and personality specifics as well as a connection to academic achievement are examined. For this purpose, the Self-compassion Scale, and the NEO-PI-R were used. The results proved insignificant correlations between the self-compassion subscales and self-reported grades, but also subtle differences in the structure of the self-compassion by males and females. Further, correlations between the neuroticism and the Self-compassion Scale and its subscales were revealed. Structural equation modeling was involved to gain more complex insight in the researched area.

This study specifically examined the candidates' dispositions as assessed by both their college supervisor and cooperating teacher during their student teaching semester. If the teacher education candidate is to reflect, change, and grow then the feedback they receive needs to be consistent. The results of this study provided a clear picture of whether there is a difference in the assessment of the teacher education candidate. By comparing the assessment of both college supervisors and cooperating teachers, we can determine if their expectations are consistent and thereby providing meaningful feedback to the teacher education candidates. This information is critical in moving forward in making decisions about the effectiveness of the institution and the teacher education program, including adding more opportunities that allow for growth in developing effective teacher education candidates.

Self-regulated learning (SRL) has numerous benefits for students. For this reason, it is necessary to understand what factors can affect SRL. The literature has indicated that many factors can influence SRL as a whole. However, few studies have investigated the relationship between factors that can affect SRL and different phases of SRL. This research aims to investigate the influence of learning motivation and self-regulated learning climate on three phases of SRL (forethought, performance, and self-reflection) in higher education context. Thirteen Chinese undergraduates participated in semi-structured interviews. The results reveal that both learning motivation and self-regulated learning climate have significant impact on forethought, performance, and self-reflection. This study also demonstrates that personality may play a role of mediator in the effect of learning motivation on SRL. The influence of self-regulated learning climate on SRL is related to the level of interaction between teachers and students. These findings can help to further develop undergraduates' SRL ability.

This article reports an analysis of teacher students' teaching achievement in designing lesson plans, improving teaching practice, and developing teacher competency. The research followed a mixed method research design, combining quantitative and qualitative data. It further employed a one-group pretest-posttest design in a quasi-experimental approach with the participants observed to obtain the needed data for further statistical analysis. The findings reveal that Tadaluring Microteaching Learning Model (TMLM), with its five-component microteaching cycle (e.g. syntax, social systems, principles of reactions, support systems, and effects of models) helps teacher students improve teaching achievement in Microteaching course by providing extra resources of experience to improve lesson plan design, teaching practice implementation, and teacher competence enhancement. This study also examines the experiences of both supervisors and teacher students in implementing the five components of the TMLM microteaching cycle. It reports that teacher students are able to design good lesson plans after participating in the TMLM microteaching cycle. It further shows the five components of the TMLM microteaching cycle aroused the teacher students' positive attitude and motivation to create and improve teaching practice during peer teaching sessions while improving their personality and social competence at the same time. This study provides a better understanding that the use of TMLM's five components in the microteaching cycle can support teacher students' teaching performance effectively in the future.

Every woman has different nature either being strong or being weak. Not all women have a lucky fate; in fact, many of them become the victims of men. Of the many cases of violence and sexual harassment in the world, women mostly become victims, especially in cases of sexual acts without consent. In "Promising Young Woman" (2020), these issues are conveyed very well. Its main character, Cassandra, carries out a mission that targets men who try to take advantage of drunken women to become deterrent and frightened. The purpose of this qualitative study on the film is aimed to discuss the behavior of radical feminism living in the character of Cassandra. Cassandra reflects a radical feminist attitude in order to achieve revenge and conveys a message about women's rights to obtain justice. Radical feminism occurs based on three key issues namely sexual objectification of women, rape, and patriarchy. The result shows that Cassandra can fully be claimed as a radical feminist because there are several characteristics of radical feminism that match the nature and behavior of Cassandra in the film, which are opposing sexual objectification of women, opposing sexism, and toxic masculinity, lastly patriarchy.

This research aims to determine to what extent temperament and parent-child relationship predict the prosocial behaviors of 60-72-month-old children. The study group of the research consists of 313 mothers and 126 fathers. Data analyzes were carried out separately in mother and father groups. "Personal Information Form", "Child Prosocialness Scale", "Short Temperament Scale for Children", "Child-Parent Relationship Scale" were used as data collection tools. Data were analyzed using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results obtained from the mothers in the study group revealed that approach, persistence, rhythmicity, reactivity which are the child temperament, and negative mother-child relationship together significantly predicted children's prosocial behaviors. As for the results obtained from the father participants in the study group, it was found that approach, the persistence of the child temperament, and negative father-child relationship together significantly predicted children's prosocial behaviors. As a result of the study, the importance of the relationship between child temperament and the child-parent relationship with prosocial behaviors was revealed. The findings of the research were discussed in light of the literature and research, and suggestions were presented.?

The emergence of open educational resources (OER) represents one of the most significant educational developments in the 21st century. Given their capacity to be freely adapted, re-used, and shared in different contexts, OER expand the options for educators. This paper reports on an initial study concerning such choices in which educators' personalities are investigated in relation to the OER adoption. Choosing open approaches has been shown to correlate with personal attitudes and several studies have highlighted the potential and need for investigating how personality might affect OER adoption. To address this gap, this study investigates the impact of educators' personality differences in relation to OER adoption. The analysis focuses specifically on the perception towards OER and the intention to use OER using the Five-Factor Model (FFM) to identify educators' personalities. Following a mixed methods approach, data collected from university educators using questionnaires (57 respondents) and interviews (15 respondents) are discussed in a two-stage hierarchical regression analysis. Demographic variables (age and gender) do not show any significant relationship. Findings reveal that while the explored five personality dimensions do not have an impact on the educator attitudes towards OER, they seem to have a significant impact on their intention to use OER. Specifically, only three personality dimensions -- namely, extraversion, agreeableness, and openness -- have a significant impact on the intention to use OER. This shows that 'open attitude' (mixing extraversion, and agreeableness, and openness) may be a fundamental prerequisite for educators to engage in open teaching practices, including the use of OER.

The Computing Curriculum 2020 project report, CC2020, Paradigms of Global Computing Education prescribes a competency model for describing curricula that challenges baccalaureate curriculum design to integrate "knowing why" into a fifty-year tradition of guidelines focused on "knowing what." Prescribing this competency model is a call to action to understand the scope of society's aspirations dependent upon computing and, in turn, computing education. These aspirations remind us that the character of a computing professional is as important as her computing expertise. Computing professionalism demands a well-formed mindset, of which computing competency is an essential ingredient. We argue, however, that the whole recipe for professionalism in computing must recognize and reflect on its transformative impact on the systems of society, both technological and human. We extrapolate CC2020's competency model into a framework through which academia and industry can partner to advance computing as a profession by integrating the technological, sociological, and ethical dimensions of computing. Finally, we present a rationale of professionalism in computing where competent practice is informed by the critical aspects of accountability: risk, responsibility, and consequence, where developing a professional mindset of inclinations and dispositions of character is not ancillary, but essential to educating baccalaureate computing graduates.

Data from 83,423 parent reports of temperament (surgency, negative affectivity, and regulatory capacity) in infants, toddlers, and children from 341 samples gathered in 59 countries were used to investigate the relations among culture, gender, and temperament. Between-nation differences in temperament were larger than those obtained in similar studies of adult personality, and most pronounced for negative affectivity. Nation-level patterns of negative affectivity were consistent across infancy, toddlerhood, and childhood, and patterns of regulatory capacity were consistent between infancy and toddlerhood. Nations that previously reported high extraversion, high conscientiousness, and low neuroticism in adults were found to demonstrate high surgency in infants and children, and countries reporting low adult openness and high adult neuroticism reported high temperamental negative affectivity. Negative affectivity was high in Southern Asia, Western Asia, and South America and low in Northern and Western Europe. Countries in which children were rated as high in negative affectivity had cultural orientations reflecting collectivism, high power distance, and short-term orientation. Surgency was high in Southeastern and Southern Asia and Southern Europe and low in Eastern Asian countries characterized by philosophies of long-term orientation. Low personal income was associated with high negative affectivity. Gender differences in temperament were largely consistent in direction with prior studies, revealing higher regulatory capacity in females than males and higher surgency in males than females, with these differences becoming more pronounced at later ages. We conducted a systematic review of research involving K-12 students that examined associations among individual differences factors (e.g., working memory) and intertextual integration. We identified 25 studies published in 23 peer-reviewed journal articles and two dissertations/theses. These examined a wide range of individual difference factors, which we organized into four categories: (a) language and literacy, (b) cognition and metacognition, (c) knowledge and beliefs, and (d) motivation, emotion, and personality. We found large variation in the participants, tasks, and document types, and little systematic replication across studies. Nonetheless, results generally showed that variation in literacy, cognition, metacognition, knowledge, beliefs, and motivation are positively and moderately associated with intertextual integration. We discuss the limitations of this work and offer four recommendations for future research.

Personality has been identified as a possible antecedent to emotions experienced in the foreign language (FL) classroom. However, contrasting results and differing personality models have resulted in ambiguous findings. This study set out to delve deeper into the role of personality as a predictor of FL emotions through a series of increasingly restrictive statistical models on a sample of n = 246 FL learners. The relationships between personality--operationalized as global and lower order factors in the five factor model--and the FL emotions of Foreign Language Enjoyment, Anxiety, and Boredom were examined. The global factors of Neuroticism, Extraversion, and Conscientiousness, and the lower order factors of Trust, Dutifulness, and Cheerfulness were significant predictors of FL emotions. However, the complexity of personality as a predictor variable is demonstrated in the intricacy of the results and as such the inclusion of personality in explanatory models of FL emotions ought to be approached with caution.

Indonesia is a rich country. One of its wealth includes local wisdoms, spread out in the region. Traditional games are parts of local wisdoms in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to see the relationship and comparison of responses and students' characters with the implementation of the traditional game called "Congklak" in classroom teaching. The research used the mix-method, which aimed to corelate and compare research variables. This study used a sample of 50 students with the total sampling technique. The data collection instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The result of the research is that there is a positive significant correlation between research variables, and there is different students' responses and students' characters, with a value of sig <0.05 and in each dominant variable in the good category.

This paper aims to analyze the research literature on Turkish pre-service teachers' critical thinking skills (CTS) and critical thinking dispositions (CTD) to identify the major knowledge claims and areas of further research. This systematic review study examined both quantitative and qualitative studies conducted between years 2010-2020, in Turkey. The educational research regarding Turkish pre-service teachers' CTS and CTD was investigated in electronic national and international databases including ERIC and TR Dizin. Considering our inclusion criteria, we included 88 studies in our review. Firstly, we completed descriptive analysis of the selected studies. Then, we analyzed their content. The descriptive analysis showed that quantitative research designs dominate the field. These studies report low-level of CTS of the participants. On the other hand, we presented our thematic analysis under two main themes: traditional perspectives and critical perspectives. We conclude that a few studies adopt a critical stand in the realm of traditional approaches. We argue that such a perspective downgrades CT into a set of generic skills and neglects contextual and individual differences. It further diverges pre-service teachers from their roles as critical educators who actively participate in transformation of their society.

The present study aimed to explore the association between creativity, intelligence, and personality. The study recruited sixty healthy volunteers in the age range of 20-40 years from Bengaluru city (formerly Bangalore), South India, and administered tests for fluid intelligence (Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices), personality (Big Five NEO-FFI), and divergent thinking (Wallach & Kogan Creativity Test). Findings revealed that intelligence and openness to experience were positively correlated with the fluency, flexibility, and originality dimensions of creativity. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis suggested openness and fluid intelligence significantly predicted creativity. This suggests that individuals who are more open to new experiences continue to integrate new and diverse information into their existing knowledge base. When combined with contextual and emotional stimuli, this integration process can lead to more varied and innovative responses to divergent thinking tasks.

The rising competition and social media usage increased the importance of university brand personality and strategic marketing in higher education. This study explores the interrelationships between brand-generated content (BGC) and user-generated content (UGC) on social media and universities' competitive strategy and brand personality. BGC that included four universities' tweets and UGC that consisted of consumer comments were analyzed by content and correspondence analysis in R programming language. The findings indicated that BGC was in alignment with universities' generic strategies. BGC-UGC dispersions across brand personality were in alignment for the differentiator university, while there was a mismatch between BGC and UGC for low-cost universities. The differentiator university was associated with being prestigious, cosmopolitan, and conscientious, while the low-cost universities were associated with sincerity. The findings supported the applicability of generic business strategies to the higher education context and showed the strategic link between brand personality and the pursued generic strategy.

The study tested the associations between stress and coping on mood, course satisfaction and learning motivation. Undergraduate students (N = 175) were surveyed on student stressors, personality, support and control against mood, course satisfaction and motivation. Defensive pessimism, context control and agreeableness lowered anxiety. Neuroticism, extraversion and hassle ratings towards tutor support, increased it. Control and neuroticism mediated between stress ratings given to support from family and friends and anxiety. Optimism and defensive pessimism lowered depression scores. Those high in Defensive pessimism, compared to those high in optimism, scored lower on anxiety, higher on learning motivation and course satisfaction and this is despite the optimism group being higher in self-efficacy, control and conscientiousness. Both groups scored higher than the cohort average on GPA. The results suggest that context control, defensive pessimism and optimism all offer effective coping, with individual differences an important caveat -- for those capable and high in anxiety, defensive pessimism was effective.

The integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-based digital learning has shown a significant impact on enhancing the 6C skills (character, citizenship, critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, and communication) of elementary school students. This quasi-experimental study, involving 200 participants from primary schools, compared the efficacy of STEM-based digital learning against STEM-conventional methods in fostering these essential twenty-first-century skills. Data were collected through case study tests and analyzed to evaluate the differences in skill development between the two groups. The results indicate a noticeable improvement in the 6C skills among students engaged in STEM-based digital learning compared to those in STEM-conventional settings, with the former group achieving higher average scores across the skill set. These findings highlight the value of adopting STEM-based digital learning in elementary education to better prepare students with the competencies necessary for their future. This research underscores the positive influence of innovative learning models on developing critical life skills in elementary school students.

In this complementary study, the researchers examine two novice rural teachers' dispositions before and during their participation in the PD-STEP summer professional development sessions which began July 2018 with subsequent sessions on July 2019 and July 2020. Together, Professional Development for Secondary School Teachers and Educational Professionals (PD-STEP) into STEM fields model utilize research-based lessons aligned with curriculum standards and purposefully centered on: (a) agricultural mathematics, science, and technology knowledge and skills; (b) specific needs of English language learners; and (c) Indigenous, authentic agricultural topics through field-based experiences for teachers. These professional development activities explore opportunities available in the United States Department of Agriculture career paths and creates resource-rich partnerships between university faculty and rural schoolteachers.

We investigated whether child temperament (negative emotionality, 5 months) moderated the association between maternal stimulation (5 months--2½ years) and academic readiness and achievement (vocabulary, mathematics, and reading). We applied structural equation modeling to the data from the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (N = 1121-1448; mostly Whites; 47% girls). Compared to children with low negative emotionality, those with high negative emotionality had higher levels of academic readiness (6 years) and mathematics achievement (7 years) when exposed to high levels of maternal stimulation ([Beta] = 3.17, p < 0.01 and [Beta] = 2.91, p < 0.01, respectively). The results support the differential susceptibility model whereby highly emotionally negative children were more susceptible to the influences of low and high levels of maternal stimulation in academic readiness and mathematics achievement's developments.

The current study examined the direct and indirect contributions of children's temperament (reactivity, persistence, and rhythmicity), parenting stress, and bedtime routines to Turkish children's sleep behaviours during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample was 313 mothers of children between 16 and 84 months (M = 52.42, SD = 12.36). Mothers reported their children's sleep behaviours, children's bedtime routines, parenting stress, and children's temperament. Multivariate path analyses were run to test the direct and indirect effects. Results indicated that parenting stress was negatively related to children's sleep behaviours. Further, it was found that consistency of bedtime routine environments was positively associated with children's sleep behaviours. For the indirect associations, children's temperament (rhythmicity and reactivity) was indirectly associated with children's sleep behaviours via the consistency of bedtime routines. Findings underline the importance of child temperament, parenting stress, and bedtime routines for children's sleep behaviours. The implications of the findings are discussed in light of previous research and the Bioecological model of human development in considering their functioning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the article, an attempt was made to demonstrate the usefulness of the concept of administration as a humanistic field of knowledge, developed by representatives of the sciences of administration, management, and economics, in research on school administration, with particular emphasis on school supervision. Referring to the postulate to include historical experiences in the plan of creating a human-oriented administration, the subject of interest was the history of school supervision. The author analysed the impact of up-to-date methodological approaches on the image of the former school inspector, and made suggestions that could extend the said studies with new, previously unnoticed aspects and objectify them. In reference to these proposals of interpretation, the author referred to the history of school supervision in Poland, presenting the examples of sources that may help build a humanistic dimension of school inspections.

Active learning is the new standard for teaching in higher education. As more faculty seek to expand their teaching practices by including active-learning activities that promote higher levels of learning, many are doing so in small doses by temporarily postponing traditional lectures in favor of group activities. While there is evidence demonstrating that active-learning practices can facilitate higher performance and information retention, our previous work showed that social personality differences can affect an individual's performance in group-oriented active-learning exercises. The results from this work indicated a possible dose-dependent effect driving the correlations observed between performance and social personality compared with passive lectures. This study builds on our previous work by analyzing whether hosting comparatively few active-learning classes is leading to a dose-dependent effect on student performance by personality type in the active-learning setting. Our findings from this research demonstrate that social personality-based differences in performance on topics taught using active learning diminish with increased exposure to active learning. We also found that students of all personality types perform better on memorization-based questions than on higher-order questions in general, but their performance on higher-order thinking questions improved after participating in active learning.

As schools become more inclusive, and with existing teacher shortages, teacher dispositions play a significant role in enhancing the education of students with disabilities (SWDs) in inclusive settings. University programs play an important role in preparing pre-service special education teachers not only with the knowledge and skills needed to work with SWDs but also the dispositions to work in inclusive settings. This study explores the dispositions of teacher candidates enrolled in the Bachelor of Science program (Intervention Specialist Mild to Moderate K-12 in a Mid-Western Public Research University) towards inclusion after a semester of Special Education coursework taken during their second or third years in the Teacher Preparation Program.

Discussions of the aims and efficacy of teachers tend to focus on an extended present pre supposing a more or less common profile across subjects and recent times. Given the concern with contemporary schooling this is unsurprising, but it limits what might be learned about the character of good and bad teaching, about the particularities of certain fields, and about the ways teachers conceive themselves in relation to their subjects, students and society. This essay considers the teaching of art, by artists to art students, setting this within a long view of the institutions of art and art training. Three partial models of the art educator and their associated qualities can be abstracted from medieval, early modern, and recent periods. (1) The "Exemplar": possessed of practical skills and habituated understanding and judgement. (2) The "Master": having in addition to the exemplar's qualitieserudition and cultivated taste. (3) The "Critical-Advocate": theory-oriented, and self-consciously progressive. Good art (be it in terms of expressive, imaginative, formal, representational or other relevant aspects) has the power to transform makers and observers, and to encourage and deepen self-examination and self-understanding. Good art teaching should be alert to and directed towards these benefits.

The present study examined the association between pre-service teachers' mindfulness and critical thinking dispositions, as indexed by engagement, cognitive maturity, and innovativeness in critical thinking. A total of 72 Chinese pre-service teachers were recruited from Hong Kong to complete an online questionnaire cross-sectionally. Hierarchical regression analysis indicated that mindfulness was differentially associated with critical thinking dispositions. As important dimensions of mindfulness, mindful presence was positively associated with engagement in critical thinking, whereas mindful acceptance was positively associated with cognitive maturity in the regression models. However, neither mindful presence nor mindful acceptance was related to innovativeness in critical thinking. As a covariate, gender was not related to dimensions of mindfulness and critical thinking dispositions. The present findings inform the literature on the relation between pre-service teachers' mindfulness and critical thinking dispositions, particularly in the Chinese context. As a major implication, policymakers should be made aware of the importance of strengthening pre-service teachers' mindfulness, such that they could have a greater disposition to teach critically as they enter the workforce.

Recent research has leveraged peer assessment as a grading system tool where learners are involved in learning and evaluation. However, there is limited knowledge regarding individual differences, such as personality, in peer assessment tasks. We analyze how personality factors affect the peer assessment dynamics of a semester-long remote learning course. Specifically, we investigate how psychological constructs shape how people perceive user-generated content, interact with it, and assess their peers. Our results show that personality traits can predict how effective the peer assessment process will be and the scores and feedback that students provide to their peers. In conclusion, we contribute design guidelines based on personality constructs as valuable factors to include in the design pipeline of peer assessment systems.

Loneliness becomes more prevalent as youth transition from childhood into adolescence. A key underlying process may be the puberty-related increase in biological stress reactivity, which can alter social behavior and elicit conflict or social withdrawal (fight-or-flight behaviors) in some youth, but increase prosocial (tend-and-befriend) responses in others. In this article, we propose an integrative theoretical model that identifies the social, personality, and biological characteristics underlying individual differences in social--behavioral responses to stress. This model posits a vicious cycle whereby youth who respond to stress with fight-or-flight tendencies develop increasing and chronic levels of loneliness across adolescence, whereas youth who display tend-and-befriend behaviors may be buffered from these consequences. Based on research supporting this model, we propose multiple avenues for intervention to curtail the prevalence of loneliness in adolescence by targeting key factors involved in its development: social relationships, personality, and stress-induced behavioral and biological changes.

The risk potentiation model of cognitive control posits that inhibitory control heightens children's risk for problematic outcomes in the context of shyness because it limits shy children's ability to engage flexibly with their environment. Although there is empirical support for the risk potentiation model, most studies have been restricted to parent report of children's outcomes and do not consider the influence of shyness and inhibitory control on other children's social behavior. In the present study, we used an actor-partner interdependence model to examine whether shyness and inhibitory control at Time 1 (N = 105, 52 girls, M[subscript age] = 3.50 years; 87% White; M[subscript income] = between $75,000 and $100,000 in Canadian dollars) predicted children's own and their partner's observed social behavior with an unfamiliar peer at Time 2 (M[subscript age] = 4.76 years). When the child's own inhibitory control was high, the child's own shyness was negatively associated with their own approach behaviors but negatively associated with their partner's avoidance behaviors. However, when the child's own inhibitory control was low, the child's own shyness was unrelated to their own approach behaviors but positively associated with their partner's avoidance behaviors. Although inhibitory control was negatively associated with approach-related behavior for some shy children, this did not translate to more avoidance from the social partner. These results highlight the importance of examining the child's own behavior in addition to their partner's behavior when considering children's socioemotional development.

The present study explores foreign English teachers' (FETs) personal experiences with stereotypes and their use of critical cultural competence (CCC) building activities in Japanese university English as a foreign language (EFL) classes. The data was obtained through open-ended interviews with Japanese university FETs from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was employed to capture the participants' lived experiences and how they made sense of their experiences in the language classroom. The findings indicated that FETs can be subject to phenotypical, gender, and personality stereotypes in Japanese educational settings. Japanese English language education, in-group's commitment to collective identity, and the mass media's reinforcement of out-group stereotypes accounted for the existence of the aforementioned stereotypes. The study concludes that integrating CCC building activities into language education can be an effective pedagogical approach to develop students' intercultural sensitivity and foster globally competent students with communicative English language skills.
