Abstract

Liposarcoma is a malignant tumor of mesenchymal origin, differentiated from adipose tissue; it represents the most common tumor type of retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcomas. The paper presents a 64 years old male patient, presented with palpable right abdominal mass and pain. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) have confirmed the existence and size of the tumor with inhomogeneous structure. Laboratory common findings and tumoral markers were normal. The diagnosis was difficult, intraoperatively shaped: giant well-differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma that weighted 9.000g. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Pancreatic cancer has become a major diagnosis and therapeutic challenge for medical practitioners, because of the high incidence, especially after 45 years, the unfavourable prognosis (even in early detected cases) and the impressive rate of death. The study included 28 patients with pancreatic cancer, with different locations, oncologically and surgically treated. The authors analysed the diagnostic and therapeutic results, with reference to data from the medical literature. Despite a grim prognosis, there are prospects of deciphering tumour biology and molecular processes that will impose, in the near future, efficient therapeutic strategies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
