The article discusses Richard Brome's engagement with Italy and its cultural legacy in his corpus. Apparently, the playwright's interest in Italy does not seem particularly profound since his works offer several examples of well‐known and worn‐out cultural stereotypes. Nevertheless, at a closer look, the dramatist may be indisputably listed among the early modern English playwrights who were drawn to Italian culture, art and language. Brome's use of Italian settings and his references to Italy and its literary, cultural and theatrical tradition work as a vehicle for a form of political and moral ideology which reflects the concerns of his country in the 1620s and 1630s. As happened for many playwrights from the period, Italy became a screen for the projection of moral, political and social anxieties as well as a mirror to look at England from another perspective. The analysis of Brome's oeuvre offers a fresh and unexpected angle on an area dominated by Shakespearean criticism while re‐igniting the interest in a playwright who has been an understudied figure in the critical debate, despite his contribution to the development of the Anglo‐Italian discourse in the Caroline age. Aiming at the problems of information disconnection and business interruption in supply chain networks caused by uncertainties such as trade wars and COVID-19, a projection-transformation-based model for predicting possible collaborative relationship links in bimodal supply chain networks is designed from the perspective of network science. The model first transforms the bimodal network structure of supply chain into a corresponding unimodal projection network by projection transformation; then screens the candidate collaborative links in the network; finally assigns weights to the similarity links according to different influencing factors, and calculates the possibility of potential collaborative links in the bimodal supply chain network by this. The experimental results show that the model can achieve higher quality prediction in real bimodal supply chain networks compared with other baseline link prediction models, which provides theoretical and methodological support for better formulation of business contingency plans and risk defense measures. Testing independence between high-dimensional random vectors is fundamentally different from testing independence between univariate random variables. Taking the projection correlation as an example, it suffers from at least three problems. First, it has a high computational complexity of O { n 3 (p + q) } ⁠ , where n , p and q are the sample size and dimensions of the random vectors; this limits its usefulness substantially when n is extremely large. Second, the asymptotic null distribution of the projection correlation test is rarely tractable; therefore, random permutations are often suggested as a means of approximating the asymptotic null distribution, which further increases the complexity of implementing independence tests. Third, the power performance of the projection correlation test deteriorates in high dimensions. To address these issues, the projection correlation is improved by using a modified weight function, which reduces the complexity to O { n 2 (p + q) } ⁠. We estimate the improved projection correlation with U -statistic theory. Importantly, its asymptotic null distribution is standard normal, thanks to the high dimesnionality of the random vectors. This expedites the implementation of independence tests substantially. To enhance the power performance in high dimensions, we propose incorporating a cross-validation procedure with feature screening into the projection correlation test. This study evaluated the effects of reading text on an optical see-through head-mounted display during treadmill walking in a virtual environment. Thirty participants were recruited to perform Chinese reading tasks by reading six types of text layouts in two polarity settings. A virtual environment was displayed on a projection screen to simulate a walking situation in which obstacles were encountered. High- and low-density obstacles were applied. Objective measures included reading performance, gait variability, and the error count of obstacles. The subjective measures were the situational awareness rating technique (SART) and NASA-Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) scores. The results indicated that font size and polarity affected the gait variability, reading performance, situational awareness, and mental workload ratings. The obstacle density affects gait variability and situation awareness rating. Speckle is undesirable and inevitable in laser projection systems. Current methods to reduce the speckle, such as multiple wavelength laser, moving diffuser, etc., required additional part, which increase the systems cost. Herein, we reported a low cost and simple technique to reduce the speckle in laser projection system by using a screen with multilayer structure (we named it as speckle reduction screen). In our case, this screen is composed of a high reflection layer, a high transparent layer and a particle arrays layer of microspheres. A diffuse mechanism can be provided by the particle arrays layer of microspheres in this method to reduce speckle. The introduction of a particle array layer can effectively enhance the speckle homogenization by increasing the speckle amount, thereby reducing speckle contrast and resulting in a more blurred speckle pattern. Compared to the standard white projection screen, the speckle contrast ratio of the speckle reduction screen dramatically decreases about 60% under the illumination of RGB laser. Transparent display is realized by varies approaches such as LCD display, microLED display, and OLED display, etc. We proposed a high image qualities transparent projection display in this paper. The projection film for such display is composed of micro‐replication base film with an ambient light reduction layer (absorptive black ink) to enhance the image qualities in the ambient condition. The ambient light is guided by micro‐lens to light reduction material and thus enhance the contract ratio of the image in the bright environment Besides, portion of projection screen about 40% area is left blank intentionally for see‐through propose. Such projection film increase projected image contract ratio ideally by 5 times comparing to traditional matt‐white projection screen. A novel high contrast emissive projection display (EPD) on black screen is developed, using a set of RGB emissive nanomaterials that can be selectively excited by digital projection of 3 violet‐blue wavebands. The new photoluminescent display enables a scalable and freeform emissive display onto any vehicle interior surface, without covering or hiding the original surface. For example, the set of RGB emissive materials can be applied as clear topcoat onto pitch‐black foil or substrate on vehicle dashboard or center console, showing superior image contrast in bright ambient light under lower power projection. To ensure high-quality multi-projection display and fast projection scattering compensation processing, we propose a novel inter-reflection compensation algorithm for an immersive multi-projection system. Firstly, manual adjustment of projector image content can be a complex task. Therefore, we propose a multi-projection distortion correction method using color-structured light coding, which establishes a geometric mapping relationship between the projector and the display screen. This mapping relationship is then utilized to correct the distortion of the projection display screen. Secondly, the luminescence scattering between adjacent projection screens can result in color and brightness discrepancies. To address this issue, we propose a luminescence cross-scatter compensation algorithm for immersive multi-projection systems. Furthermore, through experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in compensating for inter-reflection. In view of the matching problem between objects and mirrors in images, the RNFA(Relative Number of False Alarms)edge chain detection method is introduced to obtain richer line segments. An improved LBD(Line Band Descriptor) algorithm is proposed for constructing local invariant feature descriptors, and initial matching pairs are obtained by comparing local invariant feature descriptors. The screening of the global projection angle is adopted and the false matches in the initial matching pairs are eliminated fitting the projection center line. After the selection of the global projection angle and the fitting of the projection median are completed, the screening of the local invariant feature descriptor threshold is relaxed to obtain more matching pairs and improve the recall rate. The experimental results of image set simulation show that the designed algorithm can better identify line segments in the weaker texture regions and obtain more matching pairs on the basis of the guaranteed performance of the original algorithm, which can improve the correct matching rate by about 5% and achieve a recall rate of over 90%. Background: Add-on devices with projections, e.g., Endocuff, Endocuff Vision, EndoRings, and Wingcap, placed on the distal tip of the colonoscope promise to improve the detection of precancerous lesions. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the performance of these devices exclusively among individuals undergoing colonoscopy for screening purpose. Methods: A computerized literature search was performed across MEDLINE and Cochrane Library databases for randomized controlled trials that compared standard colonoscopy (SC) to procedures using add-on devices. The primary outcome was adenoma detection rate (ADR), while secondary outcomes included polyp detection rate (PDR), advanced ADR (AADR), and sessile serrated lesion detection rate (SSLDR). The effect size on study outcomes was calculated using a random-effects model and presented as the risk ratio (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: Seven studies enrolling a total of 5785 patients were included. The use of add-on-devices with projections was associated with a higher ADR compared to SC: 45.9% vs. 41.1%; RR 1.18, 95%CI 1.02-1.37; P=0.03; χ2=79%. Although PDR was higher in screening colonoscopies assisted by add-on devices as compared to SC, the difference failed to reach significance: 55.1% vs. 50.8%; RR 1.10, 95%CI 0.96-1.26; P=0.17; χ2=75%. No difference was found between procedures assisted by add-on devices with projections and SC colonoscopies in terms of AADR (18.5% vs. 17.6%; RR 1.00, 95%CI 0.79-1.27; P=0.98; χ2=56%) or SSLDR (6.8% vs. 5.8%; RR 1.17, 95%CI 0.95-1.44; P=0.15; I2=0%). This article argues instead that Nazis looked to America as a countermodel for how not to deal with the "Jewish question." Through an intertextual analysis of visual and textual primary sources, this article demonstrates how the Nazis used America as a projection screen for developing their vision of empire and "redemptive antisemitism." The Nazis admired the United States' racist laws and technological development but despised Americans for ignoring the "Jewish threat." By showing how the Nazis used the United States as a mirror for developing Nazi ideology, this article reintroduces the category of antisemitic ideology to the Historikerstreit 2.0 debate. Are leaders made or born? Leader–follower roles have been well characterized in social science, but they remain somewhat obscure in sensory-motor coordination. Furthermore, it is unknown how and why leader–follower relationships are acquired, including innate versus acquired controversies. We developed a novel asymmetrical coordination task in which two participants (dyad) need to collaborate in transporting a simulated beam while maintaining its horizontal attitude. This experimental paradigm was implemented by twin robotic manipulanda, simulated beam dynamics, haptic interactions, and a projection screen. Clear leader–follower relationships were learned only when strong haptic feedback was introduced. This phenomenon occurred despite participants not being informed that they were interacting with each other and the large number of equally-valid alternative dyadic coordination strategies. We demonstrate the emergence of consistent leader–follower relationships in sensory-motor coordination, and further show that haptic interaction is essential for dyadic co-adaptation. Movies on Our Minds (Cutting, 2021) provides structural analyses of popular, English-language cinema and maps them onto biological and psychological bases. It progresses from the details of optics and screen projection; through transitions and shots; on to scenes, montages, and syntagmas; and finally to larger narrative units and the flow of patterns of elements across whole movies. It focuses on changes in all of those patterns across a century, ascribing them to evolution. That evolution, akin to Darwinian evolution, is hallmarked by patterns of reproduction with inheritance, variation, and selection of traits over time. Two forces appear to have guided this evolution: the matching of elements of film form to predilections of the biology of our visual systems, and their matching to predilections of our cognition, particularly as it has been shaped by visual culture. In order to improve the accuracy of multi-projection correction fusion, a multi-projection correction method based on binocular vision is proposed. To date, most of the existing methods are based on the single-camera mode, which may lose the depth information of the display wall and may not accurately obtain the details of the geometric structure of the display wall. The proposed method uses the depth information of a binocular camera to build a high-precision 3D display wall model; thus, there is no need to know the specific CAD size of the display wall in advance. Meanwhile, this method can be applied to display walls of any shape. By calibrating the binocular vision camera, the radial and eccentric aberration of the camera can be reduced. The projector projects the encoded structured light stripes, and the high-precision 3D structural information of the projection screen can be reconstructed according to the phase relationship after collecting the deformation stripes on the projection screen with the binocular camera. Thus, the screen-projector sub-pixel-level mapping relationship is established, and a high-precision geometric correction is achieved. In addition, by means of the one-to-one mapping relation between the phase information and the three-dimensional space points, accurate point cloud matching among multiple binocular phase sets could be established, so that such method can be applied to any quantity of projectors. The experimental results based on various special-shaped projection screens show that, comparing to the single-camera-based method, the proposed method improves the geometric correction accuracy of multi-projection stitching by more than 20%. This method also has many advantages, such as strong universality, high measurement accuracy, and rapid measurement speed, which indicate its wide application potential in many different fields. The videoscenic play is a hybrid product that presents a fictional world meaned through theatrical and audiovisual media from two different modes of representation, the narrative of enunciation audiovisual and the dramatic one. This research aims to discover how it works. To do this, it uses a methodology that relates the Internal Reference Field of the text and the External Reference Field. It is pointed to the projection screen, material support of audiovisual representation, as an interface between media and modes of representation, allowing the access of the theatrical character to the audiovisual universe and activating the viewer's participation in the construction of meaning, since it shares with the own text the levels of production and reception of the culture of the image in which it is immersed. A non-coaxial optical screen based projection 3D display with extended viewing distance range is proposed. The proposed 3D display is composed of a projector array and a non-coaxial optical screen constructed with a series of one-dimensional retro-reflective components (1DRRCs). The projector array projects parallax images onto the screen, then the non-coaxial optical screen converges light to linearly shaped region which pass through the position of the projector and forms a view area by one-dimensional retro-reflection. At each view area, different parallax images corresponding to the projectors can be observed respectively, therefore 3D display is formed. In the proposed 3D display, the optical axis of each 1DRRC shares a common direction and isn't parallel to the normal of the non-coaxial optical screen plane. Consequently, reflected light converges into a linearly shaped region. This linearly shaped region isn't parallel to the non-coaxial optical screen, so that it can cover a extended range from back to front and lead to larger viewing distance range. A prototype is developed to verify the principle. In order to clarify the quantitative relationship between students' visual clarity, comfort, and environmental brightness in the light environment of multimedia classrooms in colleges and universities and obtain the threshold and influence trends of brightness, visual clarity, and visual comfort in the light environment of the multimedia classroom, this paper proposes the research on the relevant influence parameters of the light environment of the multimedia classroom. Based on the analysis of the current situation of multimedia use in China, this paper proposes taking brightness as the main parameter of indoor light environment evaluation to carry out students' subjective evaluation experiments. The brightness range that can reflect the visual clarity and visual comfort of the experimenter is extracted by using multimedia combined with screen projection and HDRI technology. Finally, by analyzing the experimental data, combined with the operational definition of the psychophysical threshold, the functional relationship between visual clarity, comfort, and brightness in the light environment of a multimedia classroom is obtained through regression analysis and the threshold and extreme point data are calculated. The experimental results show that when the brightness range is 370.83 cd/m2 ≤ X ≤ 558.47 cd/m2, it has better visual clarity and visual comfort. When the brightness contrast is close to 10 : 1, the visual clarity is the highest; when the brightness contrast is close to 5 : 1, the visual comfort is the highest and decreases on both sides with the change in its value. Conclusion. The results of this experimental study can provide a basis for formulating and revising relevant laws and regulations in the future and provide a reference for the light environment design of multimedia classrooms in China. A novel scheme of projection film screen to get ultra large color gamut using photonic band gap reflection mechanism is proposed. The projection screen made by a kind of film that can only reflect three narrowband R/G/B light emitted from projector (E.g., 460nm, 560nm and 650nm), as well as absorb other visible light wavelengths. The film has a well‐designed nano level multilayer structure which can form three photonic band gaps to reflect 460nm, 560nm and 650nm light respectively. An ultra large color gamut of 73.44% Rec2020 (138.68% sRGB) was obtained even under a bright room ambient light, that makes projection image quality comparable to a traditional TV. Solution blending approach was introduced to prepare flexible Polycarbonate (PC)‐based composited films with excellent transparent projection performance. After modified by an aluminate coupling agent DL‐411(ACA‐1), alumina (Al2O3) possesses improved dispersity. There may form oxygen bridge between aluminum atoms on Al2O3 and ACA‐1. With the long aliphatic chain directing outwards, the compatibility between PC and modified Al2O3 was significantly improved. The dispersion of Al2O3 particles in PC was therewith promoted. After vacuum drying, well‐blended mixtures were developed and PC films containing Al2O3 clusters can be prepared. The composite films have good light transmission and diffuse reflection effects. When Al2O3/PC mass ratio is beneath 0.2, the composited films possess excellent transparency comparable with pure PC film. The diffuse reflection performance of PC composite films is gradually enhanced with the increase of Al2O3 content. When Al2O3/PC ratio attains 0.1, the visible light reflectance amounts 15%, which can even exceed 30% with the ratio reaches 0.5. The composite films show improved resistance to UV irradiation as the visible light reflectance and transparency are comparable to un‐radiated samples. The hydrophobicity of composite films with a certain Al2O3 amount increases, which brings forth good anti‐moisture property for these transparent projection screen films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Geometric and hidden projection are two important properties to consider for three-level fractional factorials. The effective development of methods that can address tasks involving both these properties requires a unified design framework that integrates them. We highlight one integrative framework that is based on indicator functions for three-level designs under the linear-quadratic parameterization system. We demonstrate the broad scope and utility of this framework by using it to develop a new procedure for addressing a task comprised of three serial problems in geometric and hidden projection. The first in the series is to construct the sets of smallest follow-up runs to a projection of a three-level design that yield specified aliasing relations. Second is to immediately characterize the partial aliasing relations among factorial effects in the resulting augmented designs. The final problem is to identify the augmented designs that maximize popular optimality criteria with respect to the second-order model among all of the candidate augmentations. The application of our procedure is illustrated with sample projections of definitive screening designs onto four, five, and six factors. In the initial stages of experimentation, many factors are examined for a possible significant influence on the response of interest. After such screening, the design used is projected into the significant factors and further evaluation of their effects is performed using the projection design. It is therefore interesting to evaluate the projection properties of screening designs since such an evaluation is extremely useful in selecting the best design for experimentation. In this paper, we examine two-level supersaturated screening designs that are constructed following Lin's method. The real-time rendering of large-scale terrain scenes has been a challenge and is a popular research topic in the fields of 3D games and virtual reality. To fully utilize GPU features, this paper proposes a real-time rendering algorithm for large-scale regular grid terrain based on GPU Tessellation. The CPU processes a coarse-grained quadtree to generate terrain patches and then passes the patches to the GPU after view culling. Then, the GPU refines the terrain by using GPU Tessellation and displacement mapping. The most important advantage of our method is that during the tessellation stage, a new rule that the distance, screen space projection error and variance of the height, as the standard of terrain roughness, is designed. The experimental results show that our algorithm can greatly reduce the CPU processing time and main memory space requirement, and fully utilize the new features of the GPU; In conclusion, the proposed approach can render large-scale terrain with high-precision in real-time. The temporal occlusion paradigm is often used in anticipation and decision-making research in sports. Although it is considered as a valid measurement tool, evidence of its reproducibility is lacking but required for future cross-sectional and repeated-measures designs. Moreover, only a few studies on decision making in real-world environments exist. Here, we aimed at (a) implementing a temporal occlusion test with multi-dimensional motor response characteristics, and (b) assessing intra- and inter-session item reliability. Temporally occluded videos of attack sequences in a team handball scenario were created and combined with the SpeedCourt® contact plate system. Participants were instructed to perform pre-specified defensive actions in response to the video stimuli presented on a life-size projection screen. The intra- and inter-session (after at least 24 h) reproducibility of subjects' motor responses were analyzed. Significant Cohen's (0.44–0.54) and Fleiss' (0.33–0.51) kappa statistics revealed moderate agreement of motor responses with the majority of attack situations in both intra- and inter-session analyses. Participants made faster choices with more visual information about the opponents' unfolding action. Our findings indicate reliable decisions in a complex, near-game test environment for team handball players. The image quality of projection displays is decreased by ambient light. This paper proposed a screen that composed of a microlens array film with printed black ink stripes on back side and a matte‐white‐reflection film to reduce the influence of ambient light in the front projection system. The ambient light was guided to light absorptive black ink by micro‐lens and thus enhance the contract ratio of the image in the bright environment. A proposed screen performed a better than 6.5 times improvement in image contrast ratio without sacrificing viewing angle compared to a matte‐white screen under ambient light condition was demonstrated. Compared to single source systems, stereo X-ray CT systems allow acquiring projection data within a reduced amount of time, for an extended field-of-view, or for dual X-ray energies. To exploit the benefit of a dual X-ray system, its acquisition geometry needs to be calibrated. Unfortunately, in modular stereo X-ray CT setups, geometry misalignment occurs each time the setup is changed, which calls for an efficient calibration procedure. Although many studies have been dealing with geometry calibration of an X-ray CT system, little research targets the calibration of a dual cone-beam X-ray CT system. In this work, we present a phantom-based calibration procedure to accurately estimate the geometry of a stereo cone-beam X-ray CT system. With simulated as well as real experiments, it is shown that the calibration procedure can be used to accurately estimate the geometry of a modular stereo X-ray CT system thereby reducing the misalignment artifacts in the reconstruction volumes. In this article the author explores the idea that, owing to their shared three-dimensional nature, holophons and virtual holograms are well suited as mediums for visual music composition. This union is ripe with creative opportunity and fraught with challenges in the areas of aesthetics and technical implementation. Squarely situated upon the bleeding edge of phenomenological research and creative practice, this novel medium is within reach. Here, one methodological pipeline is delineated that employs the convergence of holophony, virtual holography and supercomputing toward the creation of visual music compositions intended for head-mounted displays or large-scale 3D/360-degree projection screens and high-density loudspeaker arrays. We present a novel collaborative virtual reality system that offers multiple immersive 3D views at large 3D scenes. The physical setup consists of two synchronized multi-user 3D displays: a tabletop and a large vertical projection screen. These displays afford different presentations of the shared 3D scene. The wall display lends itself to the egocentric exploration at 1:1 scale, while the tabletop affords an allocentric overview. Additionally, handheld 3D portals facilitate the personal exploration of the scene, the comparison of views, and the exchange with others. Our developments enable seamless 3D interaction across these independent 3D views. This requires the simultaneous representation of user input in the different viewing contexts. However, the resulting interactions cannot be executed independently. The application must coordinate the interactions and resolve potential ambiguities to provide plausible effects. We analyze and document the challenges of seamless 3D interaction across multiple independent viewing windows, propose a high-level software design to realize the necessary functionality, and apply the design to a set of interaction tools. Our setup was tested in a formal user study, which revealed general advantages of collaborative 3D data exploration with multiple views in terms of user preference, comfort, and task performance. A new architecture for a thin (2‐cm depth) rear projection display is described. In order to achieve this small depth, a very high density of rear projectors is used. Three prototype displays using rear projectors on both 5‐ and 2‐cm pitch arrays are described. The displays can achieve an effective screen pixel pitch of as small as 0.5 mm, which makes this technology competitive in terms of resolution with fine pitch LED displays; however, orders of magnitude fewer LEDs are required: Each rear projector requires only one white LED and a color liquid crystal light modulator. In the three prototypes, the projector light modulators utilize 101‐cm (40 in.), 80‐cm (31.5 in.), and 60‐cm (24 in.) diagonal liquid crystal display glass. To minimize cost, no lenses are utilized for the rear projectors. An RGB LED array may augment the projector array, which provides a low resolution component of the image onto which the high resolution component is superimposed by the projector array. Edge gaps between active areas on adjacent LCD glass units are completely eliminated by the rear projection approach enabling low profile wall‐size seamless displays.
