Current forecasts predict that the Industrial Internet of Things will account for about 10 billion devices by 2020. Simultaneously, unlicensed low-power wide area networks are gaining momentum due to their low cost, low power, and long range characteristics, which are suitable for many IIoT applications, in addition to the usage of unlicensed bands. In this article, a solution is proposed to seamlessly integrate LoRaWAN, an open and standardized LPWAN technology, with 4G/5G mobile networks, thus allowing mobile network operators to reutilize their current infrastructures. This proposal is transparent to LoRaWAN end devices and to the EPC, since only the LoRaWAN gateway needs to be modified. The gateway acts as an evolved Node B from the core network perspective, implementing part of the eNB protocol stack. All data packets transported over the core network are both encrypted and integrity protected, hence achieving end-toend security. Electricity, DC voltage - AC voltage, conversion generated from certain renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic panels should be made with quality factors imposed by the present standards. In the case of multilevel converters the achievement of reasonable distortion factor is realized by optimizing the targeted waveform using Newton Raphson method. This paper presents an optimization solution based on genetic algorithm. Voltage waveforms obtained by this technique and the total harmonic distortion degree of reduction are presented by comparing the results obtained from supplying a consumer with a voltage generated in classical way through DC-AC conversion, using multilevel converter. This paper presents a real-time implementation of autonomous microgrid protection using agent-based distributed communication. Protection of an autonomous microgrid requires special considerations compared to large-scale distribution networks due to the presence of power converters and relatively low inertia. In this paper, we introduce a practical overcurrent and a frequency-selectivity method to overcome conventional limitations. The proposed overcurrent scheme defines a selectivity mechanism considering the remedial action scheme of the microgrid after a fault instant based on feeder characteristics and the location of the intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). A synchrophasor-based online frequency-selectivity approach is proposed to avoid pulse loading effects in low inertia microgrids. Experimental results are presented for verification of the proposed schemes using a laboratory-based microgrid. The setup was composed of actual generation units and IEDs using the IEC 61850 protocol. The experimental results were in excellent agreement with the proposed protection scheme. In this paper, a new adaptive dual current mode control method (ADCMC) is presented, being a result of the modification of existing dual current mode control (DCMC) by introducing an adaptive current bandwidth. The ADCMC offers several important advantages over DCMC, such as no peak-to-average error in the inductor current, better transient response of current loop, and improved line regulation. A detailed analysis of the proposed ADCMC is performed for three types of DC-DC power electronics converters: buck, boost, and non-inverting buck-boost converter. The performances of the ADCMC are tested with simulations and experiments. The obtained results confirm the analysis and validity of the proposed ADCMC method. Fault detection (FD) in power electronic converters is necessary in embedded and safety critical applications to prevent further damage. Fast FD is a mandatory step in order to make a suitable response to a fault in one of the semiconductor devices. The aim of this study is to present a fast yet robust method for fault diagnosis in nonisolated dc–dc converters. FD is based on time and current criteria which observe the slope of the inductor current over the time. It is realized by using a hybrid structure via coordinated operation of two FD subsystems that work in parallel. No additional sensors, which increase system cost and reduce reliability, are required for this detection method. For validation, computer simulations are first carried out. The proposed detection scheme is validated on a boost converter. Effects of input disturbances and the closed-loop control are also considered. In the experimental setup, a field programmable gate array digital target is used for the implementation of the proposed method, to perform a very fast switch FD. This paper focuses on the design and concepts of the hierarchically structured Data Acquisistion (DAQ) network for the Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt. Due to the limited physical space and the requirement for a multi TB/s DAQ within the system, this experiment requires compact read-out hardware which provides high bandwidth. Additionally, different detector types must be supported, which requires some flexibility regarding read-out structures and a common synchronization mechanism. Another important goal is to provide hardware that supports an identical interconnection protocol within the complete network to avoid protocol conversions. Abstract: Spectrum-Efficient Optical Transport Networks (SE-OTN), the most important character of which is high spectrum efficiency due to flexible grid, have attracted much attention recently. However, it cannot be employed for practical use since most of the related protocols are immature. This paper mainly focuses on the framework and protocol extensions for the control plane of SE-OTN. A novel control plane framework is designed combining the advantages of Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) and Path Computation Element (PCE), and several routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) models are built. Furthermore, motivation and extension solutions for Open Shortest Path First-Traffic Engineering (OSPF-TE), Resource ReSerVation Protocol-Traffic Engineering (RSVP-TE), and PCE Protocol (PCEP) are proposed based on this framework. An experimental testbed of large-scale spectrum-efficient optical networks with the capability of supporting 1000 GMPLS-based control nodes has been built to validate the performance of the protocols and algorithms, and some numeric results and analysis are given finally. Numeric results show that our proposed Centralized Routing and Centralized Spectrum Assignment (CR+CSA) model has better performance than Centralized Routing and Distributed Spectrum Assignment (CR+DSA) and Distributed Routing and Distributed Spectrum Assignment (DR+DSA), and spectrum defragmentation algorithm based on spectrum compactness can get good performance in the CR+CSA model. Motivation: Public archives contain thousands of trillions of bases of valuable sequencing data. More than 40% of the Sequence Read Archive is human data protected by provisions such as dbGaP. To analyse dbGaP-protected data, researchers must typically work with IT administrators and signing officials to ensure all levels of security are implemented at their institution. This is a major obstacle, impeding reproducibility and reducing the utility of archived data. Results: We present a protocol and software tool for analyzing protected data in a commercial cloud. The protocol, Rail-dbGaP, is applicable to any tool running on Amazon Web Services Elastic MapReduce. The tool, Rail-RNA v0.2, is a spliced aligner for RNA-seq data, which we demonstrate by running on 9662 samples from the dbGaP-protected GTEx consortium dataset. The Rail-dbGaP protocol makes explicit for the first time the steps an investigator must take to develop Elastic MapReduce pipelines that analyse dbGaP-protected data in a manner compliant with NIH guidelines. Rail-RNA automates implementation of the protocol, making it easy for typical biomedical investigators to study protected RNA-seq data, regardless of their local IT resources or expertise.
