AbstractPublic library staff increasingly assist patrons with psychosocial needs (e.g. food or housing insecurity). To address growing demands for psychosocial support, libraries are engaging in social work (SW) collaborations; however, successful collaborations depend on library staff’s openness to intervention. This quantitative study examines the relationship between burnout and openness to SW collaboration, and whether resilience and empowerment protect against burnout. Results show that career resilience mediates the relationship between psychological empowerment and burnout. Burnout was not associated with openness to SW collaboration. Findings suggest resilience plays a role in preventing burnout, and that library staff are open to SW collaborations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Older adults face numerous unfavorable functional changes caused by aging, but many exhibit resilience, which helps them cope with challenges. Physical activity is positively associated with resilience. Therefore, this systematic literature review aimed to uncover the relationships between physical activity and resilience in older adults. We have analyzed three freely and openly available databases: (a) PubMed/Medline, (b) ScienceDirect, and (c) Google Scholar, which yielded 20 eligible articles based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Most studies (14) were cross-sectional, three were longitudinal, and three others used mindfulness-based or endurance-enhancing physical activity interventions. Their results revealed increased resilience even after short-duration and low-frequency interventions. Cross-sectional research results also support the positive relationship between physical activity and resilience in older adults, suggesting that the relationship might depend on exercise volume. Still, further research is needed to design interventions, understand the mechanism(s) involved in altering resilience, and maximize physical activity's benefits in aging people. Organizational leaders are essential in implementing, interpreting, and even proactively initiating changes for human resource (HR) functions to enhance workplace productivity and well‐being. However, recent studies have cautioned that providing positive and supportive leadership usually drains these organizational leaders. Although the literature has shed light on how leaders can use self‐care strategies to recharge, researchers and HR professionals know relatively little about (1) what specific self‐care actions leaders can take and (2) how external crises such as COVID‐19 constrain leaders' self‐care actions. To identify specific leaders' self‐care behaviors, which we refer to as oxygen masks, we interviewed 41 healthcare managers in Australia during the COVID‐19 pandemic in 2020. We presented a behavioral typology summarizing distinct oxygen masks that leaders used at different points in time. These oxygen masks include improving physical well‐being, improving emotional/spiritual/social well‐being, fulfilling managerial roles, and seeking collegial and organizational support. Moreover, we concluded that the COVID‐19 restrictions made some of these oxygen masks less accessible, negatively impacting leaders' well‐being. Our research conclusions have implications for theory and future studies on extending the literature associated with leadership development, leaders' resilience, and leaders' well‐being. Purpose: To evaluate whether complete dentures (CDs) relined with long-term resilient liners (LTRLs) favor better masticatory function, satisfaction, and quality of life among completely edentulous patients compared to conventional CDs. Materials and Methods: This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist and was registered in PROSPERO (the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews; CRD42021258700). The population, intervention, comparison, and outcome (PICO) purpose was to determine whether CDs relined with LTRLs favor better masticatory function, satisfaction, and quality of life among completely edentulous patients when compared to CDs. Searches were performed in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Lilacs, BBO, and OpenGrey databases. Manual searches were also performed to identify additional primary studies. Results: Overall, 3,953 articles were found. After removing duplicates, reading the articles, and applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were selected for qualitative analysis, totaling 422 patients with follow-up periods ranging from 1 week to 3 years. Among these, 8 studies assessed masticatory function using different methods, 2 assessed satisfaction, 1 assessed quality of life, and 4 assessed more than one outcome. Through qualitative analysis, LTRLs showed satisfactory results in most studies when compared to CDs in relation to masticatory function, satisfaction, and quality of life. Competitive sport involves physical and psychological stressors, such as training load and stress perceptions, that athletes must adapt to in order to maintain health and performance. Psychological resilience, one's capacity to equilibrate or adapt affective and behavioral responses to adverse physical or emotional experiences, is an important topic in athlete training and performance. The study purpose was to investigate associations of training load and perceived sport stress with athlete psychological resilience trajectories. Sixty-one collegiate club athletes (30 females and 31 males) completed self-reported surveys over 6 weeks of training. Athletes significantly differed in resilience at the beginning of competitive training. Baseline resilience differences were associated with resilience trajectories. Perceived stress and training load were negatively associated with resilience. Physical and psychological stressors had a small but statistically significant impact on resilience across weeks of competitive training, indicating that both types of stressors should be monitored to maintain athlete resilience. Purpose: Mental rehearsal is commonly employed, with positive visualization proposed to enhance complex skill performance. Additionally, video stimulus has been associated with enhanced kinesthetic sensations and rapid hormone fluctuations that may contribute to enhancing mental rehearsal and the conscious and unconscious emotional state for skill execution. Here, we assessed the impact of a 15-minute mental rehearsal intervention on rugby-specific tasks and the associated hormone profile. Methods: Professional rugby players (N = 10) volunteered for a randomized crossover study. They completed three 15-minute preparatory phases (positive or negative video-guided mental rehearsal or self-directed mental rehearsal alone) prior to an exercise stressor and rugby-specific passing task. Salivary testosterone and cortisol were monitored to assess stress responses. Results: Performance during the rugby passing task was improved following the positive video condition (91% [7.4%]) compared to the negative video (79% [6.0%]; ES: 1.22 ± 0.75) and self-visualization (86% [5.8%]; ES: 0.58 ± 0.75), with a significant correlation observed between passing performance and salivary testosterone (r =.47 ±.34, P =.0087). Positive video imagery prior to an exercise stressor also significantly enhanced physiological stress resilience (r =.39 ±.36, P =.0352). Conclusions: This pilot study demonstrates that mental rehearsal was enhanced by appropriate, context-specific video presentation. We propose that the interaction between sex steroids, the adrenal axis, and subsequent conscious and unconscious behaviors may be relevant to competitive rugby. Specifically, we suggest that relatively elevated free testosterone imparts a degree of stress resilience, which may lead to enhanced expression of competitive behaviors and provide an enhanced state for rugby skill execution. Sleep and employee behavior are linked. While the dominant explanations for this link involve physiology and cognitive resources, we offer a different perspective. We suggest that dreams, or psychological experiences during sleep, spill over to affect employee behavior. This spillover effect, we argue, results from the interplay between dreaming, meaning creation, and emotion. Taking a morning-of perspective, we theorize that recalling and ascribing meaning to dream experiences elicits awe—an epistemic emotion produced by appraisals of vastness and a need for cognitive accommodation. In turn, because awe reduces individuals' focus on themselves and their concerns, we argue that experiencing awe upon awakening increases employee resilience, and ultimately goal progress, throughout the workday. However, because awe entails a felt need to expand one's existing ways of knowing, employees may vary in their receptivity to awe. We therefore argue that the link between awe and resilience hinges on trait epistemic curiosity, or employees' inherent desire to seek and acquire new knowledge. Across three studies—including a morning-of field study, a single-day morning–afternoon study, and a two-week experience sampling study—we find that ascribing positive meaning to dreams elicits awe, which in turn promotes resilience, and ultimately goal progress, throughout the workday. Recently, women entrepreneurship has become of particular interest to corporate social responsibility (CSR) scholarship, however, little is known about the impact of crises on women's business activities and how they adapt to the disruptions and new market realities caused by a crisis. To design CSR initiatives that genuinely cater to the needs of women entrepreneurs, it is imperative to acquire an in-depth understanding of their unique experiences during times of crisis. This study employed a qualitative methodology to investigate the development of resilience among women entrepreneurs amidst crisis. The study sample comprised Iranian women entrepreneurs who were operating health-related businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to challenges related to money, market, management, motherhood, macro and meso level factors, women entrepreneurs were found to face crisis related challenges such as emotional exhaustion, altruism, fear of failure and uncertainty. Additionally, the findings revealed the different problem-based and emotion-based coping strategies (e.g., bootstrapping and emotional regulation) that women entrepreneurs used to build entrepreneurial resilience as well as business resilience. The resultant findings offer a comprehensive understanding of women entrepreneurs' resilience-building process and suggest that resilience-building is a contextual as well as a gendered phenomenon. Given the high prevalence of adolescent mental health problems, promoting understanding and implementation of protective factors is crucial for prevention and intervention efforts addressing adolescent mental health problems. This study aims to investigate whether consistency and inconsistency in protective factors are associated with adolescent mental health problems and to inform adolescent mental health interventions that target the unique needs of adolescents and promote adolescent mental health. We used multistage cluster sampling to conduct psychological resilience, social support, and mental health questionnaires from April to June 2023 among 10,653 Chinese adolescents (52.3 % were boys). Data were analyzed using polynomial regressions with response surface analysis. The higher levels of psychological resilience and social support in adolescents were associated with fewer mental health problems (anxiety: a1 = −1.83, P < 0.001; depression: a1 = −2.44, P < 0.001; and perceived stress: a1 = −1.20, P < 0.001). When the level of psychological resilience was greater than social support, the greater the discrepancy the higher the perceived stress among adolescents (a3 = 1.19, P < 0.001). Moreover, the consistency of psychological resilience and social support had a greater impact on girls' mental health (anxiety: a1 = −1.97, P < 0.001; depression: a1 = −2.71, P < 0.001; perceived stress: a1 = −1.23, P < 0.001). The cross-sectional study design limited the inference of causal relationships between variables. ABSTRACT Waves of psychological research over 50 years have resulted in the development of scales to measure psychological resilience. Multiple psychological resilience definitions and factors have emerged during this time, making its measurement complex. The overall aim of the review was to identify and describe developments in the measurement of psychological resilience in the clinical mental healthcare setting. Specific objectives included (1) consideration of the validity and reliability of psychological resilience scales, (2) the effectiveness of the scales in clinical mental healthcare settings and (3) to identify the scope that resilience factors are addressed in the included scales. It provides a timely update regarding psychological resilience measurement tools and considers further developments that may be required. Between 2011 and 2024, databases were searched, and English‐language, peer‐reviewed papers with full text were extracted. Eligible studies were those reporting validated existing resilience measures or the outcomes of new measures for use in clinical mental healthcare settings. Seventeen studies met the inclusion criteria. The review demonstrated that psychological resilience measures require further development, particularly focusing on the utility of measurement tools in clinical mental healthcare settings. In this review, we highlight an existing gap in resilience measurement and underscore the need for a new measure of psychological resilience that can effectively assess individuals' subjective experience of their psychological resilience in clinical mental healthcare settings. The currently available psychological resilience measures included in this review do not directly reflect all the factors that might impact a client's depression or anxiety and warrant further research. Background: The nursing industry's stability and progress are adversely affected by the high attrition rate and shortage of nurses; therefore, it is critical to investigate the variables that influence the professional stability of nurses. The sense of professional mission and career success have positive significance for reducing nurses' job burnout. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential mediating role of psychological resilience in this relationship. Methods: Self-reported questionnaires were utilized by 335 intensive care unit (ICU) nurses to assess their sense of professional mission, psychological resilience, and career success in this cross-sectional study. A structural equation model was developed to validate the relationship between the variables. Results: There is a correlation among sense of professional mission, psychological resilience and career success. Significant mediating effect of psychological resilience exists between sense of professional mission and career success. Conclusions: In this study, psychological resilience plays an intermediary role between sense of professional mission and career success, which provides support for further understanding the mechanism between sense of professional mission and career success and bolstering the case for devising comprehensive intervention strategies for psychological resilience. Nursing managers should focus on nurses' sense of professional mission and psychological resilience, and implement strategies to enhance nurses' psychological resilience in order to boost their career success. AbstractProblem: It is important to evaluate the factors that influence the association between attachment and bonding. Background: Limited studies have examined the role of a variety of variables in the quality of the mother–infant bond. Aim: To investigate the roles of perinatal post-traumatic stress symptoms, psychological resilience, and mother–infant contact barriers. Methods: 206 Turkish mothers of preterm babies and 446 mothers of full-term babies were recruited between March 2018 and April 2019. A multiple-path analysis was implemented. Findings: Parental attachment was positively associated with psychological resilience and negatively associated with mother–infant contact barriers and perinatal post-traumatic stress symptoms. Psychological resilience was positively associated with maternal bonding. In the preterm group, there was no significant association between mother–infant contact barriers and maternal bonding, whereas perinatal post-traumatic stress symptoms and maternal bonding were positively associated. In the full-term group, mother–infant contact barriers and maternal bonding were negatively associated, whereas there was no significant association between perinatal post-traumatic stress symptoms and maternal bonding. Psychological resilience and perinatal post-traumatic stress were mediators between parental attachment and maternal bonding in the preterm group, whereas psychological resilience and mother–infant contact barriers were mediators between parental attachment and maternal bonding in the full-term group. The relationship between psychological resilience and maternal bonding was significantly stronger in the preterm group, and the relationship between mother–infant contact barriers and maternal bonding was significantly stronger in the full-term group. Conclusion: Providing qualified attachment and bonding, mother–infant contact, lessening perinatal post-traumatic stress symptoms, and enhancing the psychological resilience are crucial. L'article fait le point sur une nouvelle conceptualisation de l'attachement, qui n'est plus envisagé comme un trait général de la personne, mais comme un fonctionnement à la fois comportemental et représentationnel spécifique à chaque relation, selon plusieurs continuums (sécurité, inhibition, hyperactivation, désorganisation du système d'attachement). La notion de « modèles multiples » et ses liens avec l'attachement désorganisé sont discutés ; l'auteure propose de distinguer les cas où il existe des représentations contradictoires concernant un même événement de ceux où un modèle spécifique pour différentes relations a été formé, le deuxième cas n'étant pas pathologique, à la différence du premier. Cette conception de l'attachement en permet une étude beaucoup plus fine, utile à la fois sur un plan clinique et pour la recherche. L'Attachment Multiple Model Interview (AMMI) est présenté, ainsi que l'usage qui peut en être fait dans la pratique et dans la recherche. The article presents a new conceptualization of attachment – which is no longer envisaged as a general trait of the person but as relationship-specific behavioral and representational functioning – along several continua (security, deactivation, hyperactivation, and disorganization of the attachment system). The notion of 'multiple models' and its link with disorganized attachment are discussed. The author highlights the need to differentiate cases in which there are two contradictory representations of a same event from those in which distinct models exist for different relationships, the latter case – unlike the former – not being pathological. This conceptualization enables a finer examination of attachment processes in both practice and research. The Attachment Multiple Model Interview (AMMI) is presented with examples in clinical and research settings. It is now possible to disentangle the relative contribution of attachment to each figure whether with the mother, the father, another attachment figure (for example among placed children or among the elderly), a therapist, or a romantic partner. In addition to each one's specific role and their additive effects, the interaction effects of these different attachments can also account for counterbalancing mechanisms (resilience) in psychological development. Purpose: Stress during pregnancy has many negative repercussions on maternal and foetal health. It is therefore important to understand which therapies are effective in reducing stress levels and which variables influence the outcomes of these therapies. In this line, psychological resilience could play a key role. Thus, the aim of the study was to check whether pregnant women with different levels of resilience have different benefits in reducing cortisol levels, perceived stress, pregnancy worries, stress vulnerability, anxiety or depression through Cognitive Behavioural Stress Management Therapy. Method: The total sample consisted of 56 pregnant women: one group of pregnant women with high levels of resilience (n = 35); and another group with low levels of resilience (n = 21). Participants' cortisol concentration levels, perceived stress, pregnancy concerns, stress vulnerability, anxiety and depressive symptoms were assessed before and after therapy. Linear mixed models were performed to compare the two groups, which showed a group x time interaction for perceived stress. Results: The low resilience group showed a reduction in their perceived stress levels with a medium effect after the intervention compared to the high resilience group, but no reduction was found in this group. No differences were found between the two groups on the other variables. Conclusion: Knowing which variables have a differential effect on the results of psychological therapy would allow delimiting the groups that obtain greater benefits from the therapy. Previous research has concentrated on psychological resilience as a holistic structure and has found that resilience positively affects college adjustment. However, it is suggested by existing literature that college students' resilience is a multidimensional construct. Furthermore, there is limited understanding regarding the categorizations of resilience among first‐year college students and its influence on their college adjustment. This study aimed to identify the profiles of first‐year college students' resilience, including individual powers and supportive powers, and explore the effects of varying resilience profiles on first‐year students' college adjustment. A valid sample of 771 first‐year college students from 28 Chinese colleges participated in this survey. The online surveys were conducted through Wenjuanxing platform. Data were analyzed using latent profile analysis to identify first‐year college students' different resilience profile and examine the relationships with college adjustment. Four groups featuring unique resilient characteristics were discovered: well‐resilient students, students with low individual power but high supportive power, students with high individual power but low supportive power, and mal‐resilient students with low individual power and low supportive power. Well‐resilient first‐year students reported the best condition of college adjustment compared to the other groups, which supports the conservation of resources (COR) theory. These results provide insight into first‐year college students' particular and heterogeneous circumstances at the beginning of the college experience. They also refined the COR theory by identifying individual‐specific relationships between psychological resilience and college adjustment. Practitioner Points: There are significant resilient differences between first‐year college students depending on their various individual power and supportive power.Students with high supportive power excel in interpersonal adjustment, while those with strong individual power excel in emotional and academic adjustment.Support from school and family significantly affects college adjustment and predicts positive behaviors. The mental health problems have been increasingly threatening the development of adolescence in China, it is very necessary to explore the protective factors preventing adolescents' negative mental health. Previous studies suggested that growth mindset benefits mental health. However, the internal psychological mechanism underlying this relationship is still unclear. This study investigated the relation between growth mindset and negative mental health among Chinese adolescence, and simultaneously tested the mediating effect of psychological resilience and the moderating role of gender in the mediation process of this relation. A total of 1204 middle school students (624 male students and 580 female students) in China completed measures on growth mindset, psychological resilience, and negative mental health. The results revealed that growth mindset not only directly predicted negative mental health, but also indirectly predicted negative mental health through the mediating path of psychological resilience. Moreover, the mediating effect of psychological resilience in the relationship between growth mindset and negative mental health was moderated for females and not males. These findings indicated that intervention focus on growth mindset could improve psychological resilience and prevent negative mental health among middle school students. Children's ego-resilience (within-person capacities that facilitate psychological resistance) and irritability (increased proneness to experience negative affective states following environmental stressors) are critical determinants of their mental health. Here, we investigated how ego-resilience engages with irritability when linked to symptoms of anxiety and depression. We analyzed cross-sectional survey data from a combined clinical and nonclinical sample. Overall, 228 German children (M age = 12.52, SD age = 2.69; 41.7% female) reported on symptoms of depression/anxiety, ego-resilience, and irritability. Moderated hierarchical regression analyses showed that ego-resilience was negatively associated with symptoms of anxiety and depression and that irritability was positively related to heightened symptom levels. Ego-resilience and irritability had overall stronger associations with symptoms of depression than anxiety. Irritability moderated the association between ego-resilience and depression, such that the effects of ego-resilience were stronger among highly irritable children. We discuss our findings within environmental and biological sensitivity frameworks. Future research must substantiate our findings and determine whether sensitivity frameworks help better understand the potentially interrelated impact of ego-resilience with irritability on children's mental health. Background: India has a significant prevalence of people with intellectual disabilities. Despite their higher prevalence, they receive poor support. Therefore, this review aims to explore the experiences of family carers in providing care for children with intellectual disabilities in India. Methods: A qualitative evidence synthesis was undertaken, searching databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, Web of Science, and PsycInfo up to October 2023. Grey literature was also searched for unpublished studies, with two reviewers assessing methodological quality. Eleven eligible studies, mostly qualitative in design, were included in the review. The data synthesis followed a thematic approach. Results: The synthesis found five themes representing family carers' experiences and perspectives. These were 'resilience and acceptance', 'parental response', 'care dynamic', 'preparing for transition to adulthood' and 'parental advocacy'. Background: Designing and enhancing resilient occupational health and safety systems is a challenge. This fact makes it clear that occupational health professionals must be able to develop their full range of competencies. From this premise, it is appropriate to define and deepen the strengths and weaknesses of occupational health nursing (OHN), as well as to point out the opportunities and realities that address its performance. Sources of evidence: In the history of the professionalization of this speciality, different circumstances have conditioned its projection: the absence of its own body of doctrine, the lack of professional recognition, limited autonomy, and the definition of a clear regulatory framework. In addition to an epistemological limitation and the absence of clear leadership. Discussion: In the consolidation of this speciality, there is a limited capacity to implement its own competencies, the invisibility of nursing care, the absence of leadership that incorporates research findings and difficulties in the application of scientific evidence, in addition to the influence of regulatory provisions and the idiosyncrasies of the company. Conclusions and implications for nursing and health policy: The analysis of classical models with a transformative approach invites a more fluid and coordinated communication between occupational health, occupational risk prevention, primary care and public health, a proposal that induces collaboration and a more holistic approach to care for workers. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the association of personal strength use with job satisfaction among Chinese nurses and to examine the mediating roles of basic psychological needs satisfaction and resilience in this association. Background: The topic of nurses' job satisfaction has been extensively studied worldwide because of its significant effects on nurse turnover, recruitment, and quality of care. Methods: A sample of 417 nurses completed a multi‐section questionnaire that included established scales to measure personal strength use, basic psychological needs satisfaction, resilience, and job satisfaction. Results: The results revealed that personal strength use was positively linked to nurses' job satisfaction. Additionally, basic psychological needs satisfaction and resilience mediated the association of personal strength use with job satisfaction both independently and serially. Conclusion: Personal strength use increases nurses' job satisfaction by satisfying their basic psychological needs and improving their resilience. Implications for nursing and health policy: Creating a culture that supports the use of personal strengths among nurses is a promising strategy that hospital managers could consider to enhance nurses' job satisfaction. This mixed-methods study evaluated early implementation outcomes of Resilience Alliance (RA), an intervention delivered to child welfare professionals. RA included 12 sessions that were held for 60–90 minutes. Sessions focused on teaching participants skills to cope with secondary traumatic stress and increase resilience such as emotion regulation, cognitive reframing, and mindfulness. Findings indicated high adoption and moderate feasibility. Most participants (83.6%) completed RA. Findings from semi-structured focus groups identified three themes that highlighted supports and barriers that occurred individually, organizationally, and systemically and influenced the adoption and feasibility of the intervention. Black women overcome various social and structural obstacles while advancing to leadership positions. The purpose of this study is to understand the lived experiences of Black women leaders as they rose to the leadership position. We used the grounded theory method to analyze the lived experiences of n = 12 Black women leaders working in nonprofit organizations, from a broader sampled study from 2017–2018, using semi-structured interviews, in rural East Texas. Based on our analyses, Black women's leadership trajectory centered around intergenerational leadership development, leadership values, and other's perception of Black woman in leadership. The themes generated show that Black women have remarkable resilience in a service-driven leadership ideology grounded in faith, family, community support, and the collective identity of being a Black woman. Generating intentional leadership pathways for strong and compassionate next-generation of Black women leaders and mentors is essential for development and sustainability of nonprofit human service organizations. Human service organizations can support leaders through training to become resilient, adaptive, and innovative during rapid complex changes. This qualitative descriptive exploratory research study reports findings on a leadership resilience training program using online evaluation surveys of 56 directors and managers in a large Canadian not-for-profit mental health/substance abuse agency. Thematic data analysis and descriptive statistics revealed positive training outcomes on four levels: satisfaction; knowledge/skills; work/team performance; and organizational resilience/sustainability. Leaders identified adaptive, resilient, and authentic leadership styles, clan/adhocracy organizational cultures, psychological safety and innovation, and organizational preparedness as important to successfully manage the pandemic and future extraordinary organizational challenges. Practice Points: Leaders' satisfaction with training structure/content was high; ensuring topic relevance, including small group discussions and team-building opportunities are valuable. Leaders' knowledge/skills improvements were very/mostly high; they learned coping and resilience strategies to build with their staff and nurture organizational sustainability. This study explores journalism students' responses to hazards and hostility in the profession within a Safety of Journalists course. The research uses focus group interviews, field notes, study diaries, written tasks, and Teams' chat logs of 11 students. Students' reactions to the hazards highlight the importance of awareness for finding solutions and developing resilience. Proposed solutions include fostering self-assurance, enhancing interpersonal communication, setting boundaries to prevent burnout, and recognizing the significance of workers' rights. Tourism in Palestine functions as a potent instrument of political resistance, serving to counter the dominant narratives imposed by the Israeli occupation and to reinforce Palestinian claims to self-determination and sovereignty. Through deliberate engagement with cultural and historical sites, we contend that tourists become active participants in a form of resistance that celebrates and preserves Palestinian identity. We maintain that each act of cultural consumption – be it visiting a historical landmark, participating in traditional storytelling, or purchasing local handicrafts – serves not just as an economic transaction but as a political gesture that asserts Palestinian narratives and resists cultural erasure. We further argue that the global spread of Palestinian cultural tourism, facilitated by the diaspora, functions as a strategic form of international advocacy that situates the Palestinian struggle within a broader context of global awareness and solidarity. According to the UK's Health and Safety Executive (HSE), there has been a 36.5% rise in reported cases of work-related stress between 2018/19 and 2019/20, to over 822,000 individual cases. Europe stress-related absence was second only to musculoskeletal disorders, with estimated work-related stress costing European companies 20 billion euros per year and accounted for nearly 60% of lost working days. This paper focuses on the under-researched area of stress among middle leaders in education. While it is widely reported that teachers face high levels of stress, as a result of organisational pressures, there is a paucity of research on middle leaders. This paper considers whether there will be a significant negative relationship between self-reported levels of resilience and self-reported levels of stress amongst 61 middle leaders. The two sets of data were subjected to cross-correlational quantitative analysis to establish the strength of the relationships between each of the six dimensions of resilience on perceived stress. Among the findings, a key result was that the question in the title was answered, namely that high resilience results in low stress in middle leaders in education. However, it was more nuanced than this and there were factors such as levels of peer support and an individual's perception of their future which did contribute to a reduction in perceived levels of stress. Literature shows that public perceptions toward people with intellectual disability (ID) tend to be negative, perhaps more so than toward any other population with disabilities, causing severe consequences on the quality of life of these people. Understanding factors associated with these attitudes may contribute to better integration of the ID population into society. This study focuses on the predictive role of school-age peer rejection and contemporaneous familial support on attitudes toward people with ID. Specifically, it aims to identify distinct profiles of people who experienced peer rejection during their school years and who experienced various levels of familial support during the rejection period, and to examine the disparities between these profiles regarding attitudes toward people with ID. An additional goal is to examine whether resilience can mediate the association between profiles of peer-rejected individuals and their attitudes toward individuals with ID. The research sample comprised 1063 Israeli adults reporting various levels of peer rejection during school years. Cluster analysis revealed two profiles of peer-rejected individuals that significantly differ in the level of familial support provided in the face of peer rejection. In accordance with the hypotheses, attitudes of peer-rejected individuals with poor familial support were more negative than those with high familial support and the mediating effect of resilience was significant. Findings emphasize the protective role of familial support in the face of peer rejection, contributing to the emerging literature that deals with the long-term effects of peer rejection and poor resiliency resources on negative attitudes toward out-groups. Background: Provider burnout is a work-related syndrome that is under-recognized, under-reported, and has negative repercussions on the individual, system, and patients. This study investigated burnout incidence and its association with wellness characteristics such as resilience, psychological safety, and perceptions of the workplace to inform future work in improving well-being. Methods: Electronic surveys were sent to 153 physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) in the department of surgery at a single institution. Survey topics included demographics, intention to stay, engagement, and items from validated measures for workplace perceptions including work pace/stress (Mini Z), burnout, psychological safety, and resilience. Descriptive statistics, bivariate associations, and logistic regression were used to evaluate responses. Results: Overall response rate was 47%. The majority of providers reported feeling burned out (56%), and 48% indicated they would probably leave the organization within three years. Additionally, 61% reported being satisfied with their job and 55% felt that they contributed professionally in the ways they value most (meaningful work/engagement). Significant predictors for burnout included negative work environment perceptions (work pace/stress), low resilience, low meaningful work, and professional role (physician vs APP). Discussion: Maintaining a healthy workforce requires investigation into the factors that support workplace well-being. The strongest predictors of burnout were work pace/stress. Protective factors against burnout were psychological safety and resilience. An organizational culture that promotes psychological safety, as well as workplace improvements to enhance providers' sense of meaning in work, and decreasing work pace and stress may contribute to the prevention of burnout and the retention. It is estimated that there are 65 million people globally – 19 million U.S. adults alone – who have long COVID, or persistent symptoms and conditions that continue or develop after an initial SARS-CoV-2 infection. Amidst their suffering and the ambiguity surrounding their health, people with long COVID engage processes of reintegrating from disruptions brought upon by their COVID-19 infection and its fallout, as well as the pandemic writ large. This process is communicative resilience (Buzzanell, 2010, 2017, 2019), and the purpose of this study is to document the experiences of people with long COVID as they sensemake, adapt, and transform their lives through communication. We employed longitudinal interviewing during the middle stages of the pandemic (Summer 2021 to Summer 2022), talking to 19 people with long COVID over the course of one year (five interviews each; 89 total interviews). Grounded in the six processes of communicative resilience, findings center the temporal and dialectic nature of resilience, with throughlines of grief, patience, and hope set against a tumultuous sociopolitical backdrop. Findings of this study have implications for how resilience is studied across time; how people learn to live with chronic illnesses; and how to support people living with long COVID and those who provide them care. Transgender and nonbinary (TGNB) youth are at increased risk for poor mental health. Families significantly impact the mental health of TGNB youth because of the need for acceptance and support for their gender exploration, identity, and access to gender-affirming services. We conducted a theoretically grounded literature review using the Family Resilience Framework (FRF; Walsh, 2015). The aim was to center family resilience as a guiding theory in understanding TGNB youth mental health for family intervention. The review highlighted the following: (1) belief systems for making meaning of gender, sexuality, and the TGNB youth coming out and their embodied futures; (2) flexible organizational processes for a youth-lead gender transition, sustained family connectedness, and accessing gender-affirming community and healthcare resources; and (3) communication processes that empower TGNB youth to emotionally share and collaboratively make decisions with caregivers. The study aimed to explore the relationship between family resilience, post-traumatic growth(PTG), and caregiver burden among family caregivers of stroke survivors. Researchers conducted a cross-sectional study to recruit 253 family caregivers of stroke survivors from a public hospital in Shandong Province, China. Caregivers completed sociodemographic information, the Shortened Chinese Version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale, the Post-traumatic Growth Inventory, and the Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview. We used Amos 24.0 to construct structural equation models and examine the mediating effects of stroke survivors' post-traumatic growth. Family resilience was positively associated with post-traumatic growth, and both family resilience and post-traumatic growth were negatively associated with caregiver burden. Post-traumatic growth partially mediated the relationship between family resilience and caregiver burden, and the mediating effect accounted for 21.27% of the total effect. Fear of childbirth not only brings negative psychological experiences to expectant fathers and affect their ability to prepare for parenthood but can even affect children's emotional and cognitive development. It is essential to identify men with a more severe fear of birth and its related risk factors for the better transition of fathers' role. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of fear of childbirth among Chinese expectant fathers, identify its contributing factors and explore the association among fear of childbirth, resilience and dyadic coping. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the obstetric department of two tertiary hospitals in Wuhan, China. The socio-demographic questionnaire, the father's version of the Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire version A (W-DEQ A), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale-10 (CD-RISC), and the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI) were used to explore the correlation of fear of childbirth, resilience and dyadic coping of participants. Ultimately, a total of 1176 expectant fathers were included in this study. The prevalence of fear of childbirth was 32.1%. Gestational weeks of pregnant women, monthly income, adverse birth experience, gravidity and parity of pregnant women were considered risk factors for the expectant fathers with fear of childbirth. Furthermore, there was a weak negative correlation between fear of childbirth and resilience and dyadic coping. In conclusion, the prevalence of fear of childbirth in expectant fathers in China was high. Sleep disorders are prevalent and often neglected among breast cancer patients. This study aimed to identify the association among perceived stress, loneliness, resilience and sleep disorders and to further explore whether resilience could be a moderator in the association between them and sleep disorders. A cross-sectional study was conducted by 492 female breast cancer patients. Patients were asked in response to the questionnaires including the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Perceived Stress Scale-10, the Three-Item Loneliness Scale and Resilience Scale-14. The association among perceived stress, loneliness, resilience and perceived stress/loneliness × resilience interaction with sleep disorders were examined by hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The interaction was visualized by using simple slope analysis. 36.58% of the female breast cancer patients reported sleep disorders in our study. Perceived stress and loneliness were related to sleep disorders. Resilience could moderate the relationship between them and sleep disorders. When resilience was higher, perceived stress and loneliness had a weaker impact on sleep disorders. Medical staff should systematically evaluate the internal environmental factors related to patients' sleep quality and help patients relieve their emotional distress caused by the disease through positive psychological guidance. Purpose: Patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) experience significant distress. Expressive writing is an intervention designed to improve well-being by encouraging expression of emotions related to traumatic experiences. Expressive writing has been shown to be generally feasible and effective at improving the cancer experience but has not been examined in patients with recently diagnosed hematologic malignancies. We examined the feasibility of an expressive writing intervention for hospitalized patients with AML receiving induction chemotherapy. Methods: Fifteen hospitalized AML patients were randomized to complete expressive writing or neutral prompts. Feasibility was defined as 80% of enrolled subjects completing the study. Participants completed validated questionnaires measuring depression, anxiety, resilience, rumination, and quality of life at baseline, completion of the second and fourth writing exercises, and 3 months after enrollment. Participants also completed post-writing surveys following the writing exercise to reflect on the experience. Findings: We enrolled 15 participants and 8 of 15 subjects (53%) completed the study. Due to low enrollment, we examined the pre-to-post intervention changes, rather than comparing results across intervention arms. Pre-to-post intervention changes in the expected direction were seen at the second assessment for depression and resilience, at the fourth assessment for rumination, emotional well-being, and social well-being, and at the 3-month follow-up for anxiety and emotional well-being. Similar changes in patient-reported outcomes were also seen in the control condition. Participants who completed the intervention reported the experience was meaningful and were able to express their deepest thoughts and feelings, more so than participants in the control arm. Conclusion: In our work, the expressive writing intervention was not found to be feasible. The trial was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic which likely impacted the feasibility. The COVID-19 pandemic created global disruption in health professions education and healthcare practice, necessitating an abrupt move to digital delivery. A longitudinal survey was conducted to track the evolution of global responses to the pandemic. During the initial stages, educational and health institutions were forced to adapt quickly without careful consideration of optimal pedagogy, practices, and effectiveness of implemented approaches. In this paper, we report the results of Phase 3 of the global survey that was distributed between November 2021 and February 2022 through InterprofessionalResearch.Global (IPR.Global). The Phase 3 qualitative survey received 27 responses, representing 25 institutions from 13 countries in 6 regions. Using inductive thematic analysis, the data analysis resulted in three emerging themes: Impact of the pandemic on the delivery of interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP); Impact of the pandemic on the healthcare system (team, population/client health, clients); and Sustainability and innovation. This study highlights the evolving nature of health education and collaborative practices in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. IPECP educators need to be resilient and deal with the complexities of face-to-face and digital learning delivery. A popular form of neoliberal feminism seeks to advance gender equality in leadership and beyond by encouraging women to be resilient as individuals. By locating career advancement as within an individual's control, recent research has shown that this focus subtly shifts the blame for gender inequality onto women and reduces support for needed structural changes to tackle gender discrimination. We extend research into neoliberal feminism by examining anticipated negative effects on women's protest motivation. Across four studies in the United Kingdom (total N = 1,168), undergraduate women students and employed women with university degrees in both the control and resilience conditions first read about gender inequality. Participants in the neoliberal feminist conditions then read messages promoting individual resilience as key to women's advancement (Study 1–3) or participated in activities designed to build their own resilience as individuals to help them advance (Study 4). In Studies 1, 3, and 4, participants in the neoliberal feminist conditions compared to the control had lower collective action intentions – a negative effect that was either indirect, via reduced perceptions of gender discrimination (Studies 1 and 4) and reduced anger over inequality (Study 1), or direct (Study 3). Together, these studies provided partial support for our hypothesis that neoliberal feminism can undermine women's protest motivation. Future research can help establish how contextual and other factors contribute to the strength of these effects and explore how feminists can better harness messages of resilience. To advance gender equality, our findings suggest that advocates should focus less on individualistic solutions and more on addressing structural barriers, laying the groundwork for effective protest action and social change. BACKGROUND: Social isolation measures by the COVID‐19 pandemic have impacted teaching work. In an "Emergency Remote Teaching" (ERT) context, it is relevant to investigate the factors that affect teachers' self‐efficacy. METHODS: A total of 289 teachers from schools in southern Spain have participated in this study. They have been asked about their levels of burnout, engagement, and resilience. Comparisons were made by groups in accordance with sex, type of center they belonged to, school social context, and educational level in which the teacher taught. Using a Structural Equations Model, the multivariate relationships between the variables related to burnout, engagement, and resilience were described. RESULTS: During the ERT, teachers' self‐efficacy was influenced by the 3 factors: burnout—exhaustion and cynicism—engagement, and resilience. During the ERT, the teachers in semi‐private and private centers showed greater self‐efficacy. In turn, the teachers in childhood and primary education showed a significantly higher level of work engagement than the teachers in compulsory and post‐compulsory secondary education. CONCLUSIONS: The results in relation to ERT are discussed in the context of the exceptionality and universal globality of the pandemic phenomenon and the complex self‐perception of the social value of the teaching function. BACKGROUND: Despite historical and contemporary trauma, American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN; Indigenous) communities responded with resilience to the COVID‐19 pandemic. However, AIANs experienced disproportionate rates of infection, hospitalization, death, and reduced life expectancy. School closures exacerbated disparities, leading to learning loss, economic instability, and mental health challenges among AIAN youth. METHODS: The Project SafeSchools cohort study employed a comprehensive longitudinal convergent mixed‐methods approach, integrating community‐based participatory research principles. The study enrolled Navajo Nation caregivers whose children were eligible to attend local reservation‐based schools. We conducted an analysis of caregiver self‐report baseline data collected between August 2021 and May 2022. RESULTS: A total of 242 caregivers completed at least part of the baseline assessment and were included in data analysis. Caregivers were primarily female (88.7%), non‐Hispanic (97%), and Indigenous (97%). Most caregivers were in their late 30s (mean age 38), with varying educational backgrounds and employment statuses. Children were evenly split between males and females and distributed across different age groups. Most children attended school at baseline in various formats, including in‐person, hybrid, and online‐only settings. Caregivers reported a range of psychosocial and behavioral risks, including general mental distress, depressive symptoms, and anxiety for themselves and their children. Furthermore, caregivers and children exhibited various protective factors, such as strong cultural identity, resilience, and academic self‐efficacy. CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the higher rates of mental health distress among participating caregivers and children compared to national averages. This qualitative study delves into the intersection of social workers' practice in fostering community resilience and integrating indigenous support systems in Kashmir. Emotion regulation (ER) is a source of risk and resilience for psychological development and everyday functioning. Despite extensive research on various early contextual predictors of child ER capacity, few studies have integrated them into the same study. Therefore, our longitudinal study investigated the joint and independent contributions of several prominent contextual predictors of child ER capacity. We followed typically developing children and their caregivers (N = 118, 47% girls) at three time points (children ages 10, 12, and 18 months). At 10 months, mothers reported household chaos, social support, and parenting stress, and maternal sensitivity was observed and coded with the Ainsworth's Maternal Sensitivity Scales. At 12 months, child–mother attachment security was assessed using the Strange Situation Procedure. Finally, at 18 months, child ER was obtained with a Laboratory Temperament Assessment Battery frustration task. Correlational analyses revealed that household chaos and maternal sensitivity were significantly positively associated with child ER. Multiple regression analyses showed independent effects of household chaos and maternal sensitivity on child ER. Our partly counterintuitive results underscore the significance of cumulative risk and protective factors for ER development and suggest that household chaos and maternal sensitivity may contribute uniquely to better ER in typical toddlerhood. Little is known about the origin and associated factors of subjective memory complaints (SMCs) in the young population, although they might be closely related to the psychophysiological states produced by stress exposure, such as anxiety and depression. In this regard, resilience has been related to a reduction in these negative states, as well as to more adaptive hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis functioning. We aimed to investigate the importance of depression, anxiety, and HPA axis activity in SMCs in the young population. We also analysed the relationship between resilience and SMCs through the mediation of depression, anxiety, and the cortisol awakening response (CAR). To do so, we measured SMCs, depression and anxiety states, resilience, and the CAR in 77 healthy young people. Both depression and anxiety were associated with SMCs. In addition, greater resilience was related to fewer SMCs through depression and anxiety. However, the CAR was not related to SMCs, and it did not mediate the relationship between resilience and SMCs. These results suggest that negative affective states have greater importance in SMCs than HPA functioning in this age group, and they also highlight the importance of resilience in the psychological adjustment to stressful situations. The use of resilience in social practice has evolved from a theoretical framework at the intersection between individuals and their social ecology. Critics argue this theory still results in policies and practices that are too individualised, with the potential for negative social consequences. This paper further critiques contemporary understanding of resilience theory and its application. It juxtaposes complex systems theory with a social inequalities oriented resilience practice. This provides a paradoxical approach. It is acknowledged that state and public policy decisions and actions can be anti-resilient, undermining community and social resilience that already exists in the form of social relationships, self-organisation and co-production. This study aims to understand the impact of chronic conditions on perceived health and well-being among rural, community-dwelling older adults and to identify the barriers and supports impacting the perceived health and well-being among this population. A convergent mixed-methods design was conducted using the Pizzi Health and Wellness Assessment (PHWA) and semi-structured interviews. Participants' feelings about their health on the PHWA highlighted positive familial (M = 9.67, SD = 1), social (M = 8.67, SD = 1.12), occupational (M = 8.67, SD = 1.94), and spiritual (M = 8.56, SD = 2.13) health. Qualitative analysis revealed overarching themes: the impact of rural living and factors affecting health and well-being. Community-dwelling older adults with chronic conditions perceived their health and well-being as impacted by benefits and barriers of rural living. Aims: Workplace stress can negatively impact healthcare providers' professionalism and quality of care. One source of workplace stress is the experience of workplace mistreatment. Drawing on the Job Demands‐Resources theory, this study aimed to (a) investigate the impact of mistreatment frequency experienced by healthcare workers from insider sources (i.e. co‐workers, supervisors) and outsider sources (i.e. patients, visitors) on affective ill‐being and (b) the potential moderating role of trait resilience and trait self‐efficacy, as personal resources, in the mistreatment–ill‐being relationship. Design: Lagged design. Methods: We collected data from 153 Irish healthcare workers between January 2018 and June 2019 via three surveys, separated by 1‐week intervals. Personal resources were measured at Time 1, frequency of mistreatment from the two sources was assessed at Time 2 and affective ill‐being was assessed at Time 3. We used moderated regression analyses to evaluate the association of mistreatment frequency from the two sources and affective ill‐being and the moderating effect of personal resources. Results: Only insider mistreatment frequency was positively related to affective ill‐being. Furthermore, the positive impact of insider mistreatment on affective ill‐being was moderated by self‐efficacy (but not by trait resilience). In contrast to our expectations, the relationship was stronger at high levels compared to low levels of self‐efficacy. Conclusion: Mistreatment from co‐workers and supervisors is linked to higher levels of affective ill‐being. Additionally, healthcare workers with high self‐efficacy were more vulnerable to the negative consequences of co‐worker and supervisor mistreatment as it impacted their affective ill‐being. Impact: These findings extend the literature on workplace mistreatment by integrating insider and outsider perpetrators of mistreatment and examining their differential impact on the employees' affective ill‐being. It also highlights mistreatment from organizational insiders as a significant factor in the relationship between mistreatment and affective ill‐being. Background: Populations are ageing, making the quality of old age a crucial issue. Some adversity in old age, such as loss of loved one or loss of physical function, is often experienced, as is the need for recovery from such adversity. Resilience in later life has become an important topic and has accumulated much empirical research. However, the research has mainly centred on individual factors, such as personality, rather than social factors, such as family relationships or community engagement. There is no systematic review of the social dimensions of resilience in old age, a focus that should be especially important for policy and practice seeking to create supporting environments. Methods: Our review comprises quantitative and qualitative empirical original English language studies, published 2013–2023, using predefined search phrases including 'resilience' and various terms for old age and social dimensions. Titles and abstracts are screened by the first two authors using registered exclusion criteria. Final inclusion, based on full‐text reading, is decided using registered inclusion criteria, and verified by co‐authors. Qualitative articles are read by authors specialized in qualitative research and quantitative articles by authors specialized in quantitative research. Due to large expected heterogeneity, meta‐analysis is not conducted, but weighted effect sizes or funnel plots may be prepared if parallel quantitative studies are encountered. Qualitative studies are synthesized using meta‐aggregation. The risk of bias is evaluated with applicable Joanna Briggs Institute checklists for each study design. A narrative synthesis brings together the qualitative and quantitative studies. Conclusion: Methodological strengths and weaknesses of the included studies are reported to assess the quality of the research. Summary of the most significant social dimensions of resilience in old age is prepared, emphasizing interactions between contexts, stressors, mechanisms and outcomes; and research gaps are identified. Transitioning from perennial to non-perennial flow regimes causes ecological shifts in aquatic communities. Aquatic macroinvertebrates deploy resistance and resilience strategies to cope with flow intermittency, crucial in rivers with long-term seasonal dry episodes. Less is known, about how these strategies support community persistence in streams that only recently have experienced drying, and where local assemblages lack such adaptations. Our study conducted two four-season campaigns, separated by a one-year break, to assess macroinvertebrate responses in newly drying intermittent streams by comparing intermittent and perennial stream sections. We characterize communities from structural and functional perspectives, and then evaluate the response at the trait state level. We observed a decline in taxa richness and abundance, but not structural diversity, in response to flow intermittency. Resistance traits are more important than resilient traits in structuring macroinvertebrate communities in newly intermittent stream sections. Taxa in intermittent sections exhibit a smaller trait space, indicating lower functional redundancy. The macroinvertebrate response to intermittency lacks a predictable pattern, suggesting time-dependent and trait-state-specific colonization by adapted taxa and community assembly with resistance and resilience strategies. Background: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a behaviour many counselling psychologists encounter in practice, and the way clinician's respond can have an important impact on the individual's experience of recovery. The person-centred NSSI recovery framework incorporates the voices of lived experience in understanding the multi-faceted nature of recovery. Objectives: This paper outlines important considerations for how the recovery framework can guide clinicians with respect to both therapeutic stance and intervention targets in order to support clients in navigating their experience of NSSI and recovery. Implications: Clinicians should adopt a strengths-based approach and foster self-efficacy and self-compassion with persons with lived experience. This paper provides specific recommendations for counselling psychologists and their clients, including encouraging clinicians to avoid making assumptions about the causes, meanings, and outcomes of self-injury, and to be cognizant of the non-linear nature of the recovery process. Psychotherapy has historically focused on symptom reduction. However, there are calls for increasing our understanding of how psychotherapy impacts clients' flourishing. In this study, licensed mental health professionals and trainees across different clinical settings with diverse therapeutic orientations were interviewed about their perspectives on the cultivation of flourishing in psychotherapy, as well as their own personal experiences with flourishing. We were interested in understanding how therapists define flourishing, how they integrate flourishing into their work with clients, and any barriers or catalysts for engaging in this process. To do so, we conducted eight focus groups, and interviews were analyzed using grounded theory to form a hierarchy of categories. The results were used to create a three-part grounded theory. Results suggested that flourishing is a distinct concept from well-being that involves active engagement, emotional connection and meaning making. Our three-part grounded theory of flourishing elucidates how flourishing can be pursued by guiding clients towards their experiences of suffering in order to engage in meaning making and to identify their values, as well how systemic barriers can be navigated.
