Background: The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted healthcare services usage. We estimated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare services utilization among people living with HIV (PLWH) in Catalonia, Spain., Methods: We accessed public healthcare usage in HIV units, primary care, hospitals, and emergency departments among 17,738 PLWH in the PISCIS cohort from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2020. We performed an interrupted time series analysis using the autoregressive integrated moving average to estimate the effect of COVID-19 on medical visits and HIV monitoring among PLWH., Results: A non-significant decrease of 17.1% (95% CI: [-29.4, 0.4]) in overall medical visits was observed during the lockdown, followed by a steady resumption until the end of 2020. Three health facilities presented statistically significant declines in visits during the lockdown: HIV units (-44.8% [-56.7, -23.6]), hospitals (-40.4% [-52.8, -18.1]), and emergency departments (-36.9% [-47.0, -21.9]); thereafter, the visits have begun to increase steadily but not to previous levels as of December 2020. In contrast, primary care visits remained unchanged during the lockdown by 1.9% (95% CI: -13.5, 23.9). CD4 cell (54.2% [95% CI: -64.4, -36.0]) and HIV RNA viral load (53.1% [95% CI: -62.9, -36.1]) laboratory monitoring reduced significantly during the lockdown., Conclusion: COVID-19 lockdowns significantly disrupted in-person healthcare services usage among PLWH. The reduction in healthcare utilization however did not affect primary care services. Despite services gradually rebounding to pre-pandemic levels, it is imperative to effectively prepare for future pandemics and implement measures to ensure continuous provision of care to PLWH during pandemic lockdowns., (Copyright © 2023 Sociedad Española de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiología Clínica. Abstract Following a request from the EU Commission, the Panel on Plant Health has addressed the pest categorisation of non‐EU isolates of potato virus V (PVV). The information currently available on geographical distribution, biology, epidemiology, potential entry pathways, potential additional impact and availability of control measures of non‐EU isolates of PVV has been evaluated with regard to the criteria to qualify as a potential Union quarantine pest. Because non‐EU isolates of PVV are absent from the EU, they do not meet one of the requirements to be regulated as a regulated non‐quarantine pest (RNQP) (presence in the EU); as a consequence, the Panel decided not to evaluate the other RNQP criteria for these isolates. This categorisation was performed considering two lineages, PVV‐I (present in and outside the EU) and PVV‐II (not reported in the EU), and isolate PVV‐PA4 (unknown distribution). Non‐EU isolates of PVV‐I and PVV‐PA4 do not meet one of the criteria evaluated by EFSA to be regarded as a potential Union quarantine pest, since they are not expected to have an additional impact in the EU. With the exception of the criterion regarding the potential consequences in the EU territory, for which the Panel is unable to conclude, non‐EU isolates of PVV‐II meet all the other criteria to qualify as a potential Union quarantine pest.

Most previous research on radical right populist voting has revealed that men are substantially more likely to favour radical right parties than women. This article explores the interplay between gender, gendered personality traits – as measured by Bem's Sex Role Inventory – and radical right populist voting. To do so, it makes use of the Dutch Longitudinal Internet Studies for the Social Sciences (LISS) Household Panel (2012 and 2013; N = 4328). The Logit regression analyses reveal no noticeable effect of feminine personality traits, but a significant and positive effect of masculine personality traits on supporting the Dutch radical right party, PVV. Women are significantly less likely to support the PVV, even once gendered personality traits are controlled for, and the effects of gendered personality traits are similar among women and men. Over the last few decades, radical right populist (RRP) parties have been electorally successful in different European countries. The success of some of these parties has, however, not been stable. Some RRP parties have indeed been successful at some elections but experienced substantive electoral losses in subsequent elections. The aim of our study is to test the extent to which changes in political attitudes during an electoral cycle relate to the likelihood of voters to switch their voting intentions from any party to a RRP party and from a RRP party to any other party. Taking advantage of Dutch panel data (LISS) collected in 2007, 2010 and 2012 ( N = 1,494 for 2007-2010; N = 2,126 for 2010-2012), our binary logistic regression analyses indicate that growing sympathy for the party leader (Geert Wilders) initiates a move to the PVV while decreasing sympathy for Geert Wilders relates to a shift away from the PVV. Changes in attitudes towards immigrants, Euroscepticism and political inefficacy and distrust, do not seem to matter when mean levels for these attitudes are controlled for. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper approaches the rise of far right populism in Europe with a feminist lens and on the background of the discursively constructed sexist and racist features of the current moral panic. It is argued that we can follow up a continuum of normalised culturalist gendered discourses in Europe, and for some time, in the Netherlands in particular. The paper is organised by looking, first, at the place of gender in far right discourses and the role of women in far right-wing populist parties. Second, a feminist critique of processes of normalisation is presented, helping to clarify the term ‘culturalism’. To illustrate the dynamics of gendered culturalism and the way it impacts the everyday life of Muslim women in the Netherlands, some interview sequences of an empirical study with female Dutch-Moroccan citizens are discussed. The experiences of the women illustrate how far right populist perspectives and prejudices entered their daily lives, and which counter strategies, the women used to resist intimidation. The immunocapture reverse transcriptase PCR method (IC-RT-PCR) was used to selectively amplify specific genome sequences of an isolate of Potato virus V (PVV, genus Potyvirus) from a potato plant infected by multiple viruses in the field in Finland. The sequences of the 5′- and 3′-non-translated regions (NTR) and the P1- and coat protein (CP)-encoding sequences were determined because they are the most variable genomic regions in potyviruses. The sequences of the new Finnish PVV isolate obtained in this study were compared to the sequences of eight PVV isolates characterized from other European countries. The results indicated little genetic variability among the European PVV isolates (nt identity values > 96% for all regions examined). Most PVV isolates were grouped according to their geographical origin using P1-sequences for a phylogenetic analysis. The nucleotide substitution patterns for P1 and the CP genes revealed that variability is due to a random genetic drift. Comparison of the secondary structure predictions for the unusually long 3′-non-translated region (3′-NTR) of PVV to the 3′-NTR of Tobacco etch virus (TEV) and other potyviruses revealed that some of the structures defining regions crucial for viral genome replication in TEV are present in PVV and other potyviruses.
