Os múltiplos stresses estivais são um fenómeno cada vez mais recorrente em todas as zonas vitícolas do sul da Europa. Consistem na ocorrência de temperaturas elevadas, períodos de radiação elevados, em correspondência com longos períodos de seca.

Gli stress multipli estivi sono un fenomeno sempre più ricorrente in tutti gli areali vitivinicoli italiani. Consistono nell’occorrenza di elevate temperature e alti regimi radiativi, in corrispondenza di lunghi periodi siccitosi. Gli effetti negativi sulla vite sono molteplici e si manifestano con una riduzione dell’accumulo di sostanza secca nei vari organi, con ingiallimenti diffusi a carico delle chiome, con riduzione del peso dell’acino e della resa, nonché con la comparsa di scottature dei grappoli e la compromissione dell’equilibrio biochimico delle uve (Palliotti et al. 2020). Da anni, la viticoltura sta cercando nuove soluzioni al problema, sia di lungo periodo, quindi scelte in fase di impianto, sia di breve periodo, cioè tecniche applicabili durante la stagione in maniera flessibile e empestiva. Tra queste ultime, rientra lo sviluppo di nuove applicazioni fogliari naturali basate sull’azione di specifici derivati microbici come lieviti inattivati, estratti di lievito e di batteri. Un lungo lavoro di ricerca e sviluppo condotto da Lallemand (brevetto depositato) ha portato alla definizione di alcuni formulati specifici in grado di migliorare le performance del vigneto in termini di miglioramento della tolleranza agli stress abiotici e della maturazione fenolica e romatica (Pastore et al. 2020). Nel presente lavoro è stata testata l’efficacia di due nuovi formulati: LalVigne Resiliens, 100% derivato da lievito enologico selezionato (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), messo a punto per proteggere la vite dagli stress abiotici che si possono verificare durante tutto il ciclo vegetativo della pianta e per favorire il recupero delle piante una volta che la situazione di stress è terminata; Lalvigne ProHydro, a base di derivato di lievito enologico selezionato (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) ed estratto batterico ricco in L-prolina, messo a punto per migliorare la risposta della pianta allo stress idrico, che presenta una più elevata efficacia quando utilizzato prima d

Svariati problemi emergenti in vigna, per lo più legati al cambio del clima, richiedono interventi tecnici straordinari; gli antitraspiranti naturali possono conciliare risoluzione e rispetto ambientale.

L’alga bruna Ascophyllum nodosum è la specie più utilizzata per produrre biostimolanti per l’agricoltura. A seconda del processo di lavorazione (ambiente acido/alcalino e temperatura), i formulati possiedono proprietà ed efficacia differenti. A tale proposito, alcuni recenti studi hanno verificato l’efficacia di tali preparati in vigneto per migliorare la tolleranza della vite agli stress e ottimizzare la composizione delle uve.

The aim of the study was to verify if a new kaolin formulation, which contains 100% aluminium silicate, can reduce the negative effects of high summer temperatures and heat stress on canopy physiological processes, yield and fruit quality in hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.). Kaolin was applied on young Tonda Giffoni plants three times in 2018 summer at 3% concentration: sprays were carried out when the maximum air temperature exceeded 35 °C for 2–3 consecutive days. Kaolin coating increased light albedo, reducing leaf temperature from 2.9 °C up to 6.9 °C and the consequent heat stress, without significant negative effects on photosynthetic activity (Pn), stomatal conductance (gs) and water use efficiency (WUE). Occasionally kaolin significantly reduced leaf transpiration (E). Under water shortage stomatal resistance increased, independent of leaf temperature, therefore in kaolin treated plants (KL plants) the Pn, gs, E and WUE were less than those in control, whereas in post-harvest period Pn and WUE were significantly higher. At re - watering the KL plants have greater Pn and WUE values and less water loss due to transpiration. Moreover, summer rainfall is not able to wash out the whole kaolin covering, allowing an average foliar coverage of the kaolin sufficient to protect the photochemical efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm). At harvest, the KL plants showed a higher kernel yield and oil content. Kaolin application is a viable strategy to contrast the increase of anomalous high temperature due to actual global warming and can allow to extend hazelnut growing in areas where summer heat stress are limiting.

L'acqua è un elemento cruciale nel ciclo vegeto-produttivo della vite e, anche se modesti deficit sono tollerati specie nei vitigni a bacca nera, una carenza può portare a pericolosi scadimenti produttivi e qualitativi. Il global warming sta cambiando l'approccio della gestione idrica, anche nelle aree centro-settentrionali del nostro paese, che deve essere più attenta rispetto al passato. L’acqua è uno dei principali reagenti nel processo di fotosintesi e in numerosi altri eventi biochimici, nonché essenziale per la dissipazione dell'energia in eccesso e per il mantenimento di un corretto turgore cellulare, necessario per la crescita, per i movimenti degli stomi e per il funzionamento dell'apparato radicale. Una sua limitazione può pertanto causare deviazioni nella fisiologia di base con ripercussioni negative sulle performance delle piante.

In conclusione, l’utilizzo di biostimolanti a base dell’alga bruna Ascophyllum nodosum può essere una soluzione utile da adottare nei casi in cui le condizioni ambientali rappresentano un ostacolo per il raggiungimento di una adeguata maturazione fenolica. Tali composti sono infatti capaci di stimolare la biosintesi di antociani e polifenoli nelle bucce, senza modificare la concentrazione di zuccheri e acidi organici nelle uve, permettendo di ottenere vini con un miglior profilo cromatico e fenolico, a parità di titolo alcolico.

I biostimolanti naturali sono strumenti innovativi di crescente interesse e validi per ottimizzare la gestione del vigneto, per indurre resistenza verso vari patogeni e per mitigare gli effetti negativi indotti dagli stress ambientali.

During the spring of 2016, one-year-old own-rooted and 3-year-old grafted vines of cv. Sangiovese were treated with MycoUp, a formulation based on a recently identified mycorrhizal fungus, Glomus iranicum var. tenuihypharum sp. nova. The results are showing an impact on the development of the root system of the two different vine groups. The treated root systems were more expanded and able to explore a higher volume of soil. We observed a significant increase in total root volume and the volume of the soil explored by the entire root system, suggesting a more efficient use of water and nutrients, phosphorus in particular, with the potential of better overcoming periods of water stress.

he aim of the study was to verify if vineyard kaolin application during the 2017 hot summer could reduce the negative effects of high temperatures and heat stress on canopy physiological processes, yield and fruit quality. The kaolin was applied once at the beginning of August, at 3% concentration, in a Pinot Noir vineyard. The application was performed only to the west side of the rows, where the vines were more subjected to heat stress. The 2017 summer was very hot, with maximum air temperature higher than 35 °C for several consecutive days in June, July and August and with heat waves that reached 42.3 °C in August. The kaolin coating works by significantly reducing leaf temperatures in comparison to untreated vines, with an average of about − 4 °C and up to −6 °C. Moreover, it maintains high the photosynthetic activity preventing irreversible photoinhibition phenomena, whereas untreated vines exhibit a marked physiological damage with chlorotic and necrotic leaves, dehydrated berries and sunburn damages. At harvest, 30-35% of the untreated vines were affected by severe water stress symptoms and produced unmarketable fruits. In comparison to the untreated vines, those sprayed with kaolin showed a higher yield (+27%), higher anthocyanins (+35%) and higher concentration of organic acids (+11%)

In grapevines, basal leaf removal at bloom often induces a reduction of fruit set. The effect is related to a reduction in carbon availability for different plant organs competing for photosynthates. To understand and quantify carbon allocation among major sink organs following the early basal leaf removal, the effect of early basal defoliation was studied in Pinot noir grapevines. The experiment was performed in Michigan, a cool climate viticultural region, and three levels of defoliation were imposed at full bloom: (1) no leaves removed (DF-0); (2) six leaves removed from six basal nodes (DF-6); and (3) ten leaves removed from ten basal nodes (DF-10). A week after the defoliation treatment, 13C pulsing was executed to the defoliated shoots. Photosynthesis (Pn), carbon distribution, fruit set, vine performance and basic fruit composition were measured. LR treatments induced higher Pn when compared to LR-0. The highest 13C allocation (%) was recorded in the shoot apex of the LR-10 treatment and LR-10 had the lowest percentage of 13C transported to the cluster, with a reduced fruit set of about 60% when compared to LR-0. The severity of leaf removal reduced significantly fruit set and increased shoot apex sink strength at the expense of the cluster.
