This handbook is intended to assist vocational teachers and administrators in preparing vocational curricula that include materials for developing teacher- and business-identified entrepreneurship competencies. The handbook begins with a discussion of the need to infuse entrepreneurship education into all areas of vocational education. The next section examines related literature and entrepreneurship education materials, including the National Center for Research in Vocational Education's model for lifelong entrepreneurship education and the Program for Acquiring Competencies in Entrepreneurship (PACE). Described next are the procedures used in the survey of 590 Pennsylvania area vocational-technical school instructors and 60 small business owners and managers from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, that was conducted to identify the entrepreneurship competencies needed by students in the individual vocational education curriculum areas. The next two sections analyze the survey results and suggest various curriculum materials and procedures that can be used to infuse instruction in the competencies identified into existing vocational courses. Appendixes include the U.S. Department of Education policy statement on entrepreneurship education; an entrepreneurship education model; and a breakdown of survey responses according to the following vocational education subject areas: agriculture/horticulture, air conditioning/environment, appliance repair, automotive/heavy equipment, building/construction trades, business/computers, creative and graphic arts/design, cosmetology, electronics, food preparation, health occupations, machine shop/tool and die making, marketing and distribution, and welding. Background: Sitravatinib is an investigational, orally bioavailable, receptor tyrosine-kinase inhibitor with immune modulatory and potential antitumor activity. Tislelizumab is an investigational, humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody with high affinity and binding specificity for programmed cell death receptor-1 (PD-1). We assessed the safety and antitumor activity of sitravatinib plus tislelizumab in patients with advanced solid tumors. Method(s): This is an open-label, multicenter, non-randomized, phase Ib study (NCT03666143). This cohort evaluated anti-PD-(L)1 antibody-naive patients with recurrent, platinum-resistant, epithelial ovarian cancer who were treated with 120 mg of sitravatinib once daily in combination with 200 mg tislelizumab every 3 weeks until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, death, withdrawal of consent, or study termination. The primary objective was to assess the safety and tolerability of this combination therapy. Overall response rate, duration of response (DOR), disease control rate, and progression-free survival (PFS) were assessed as secondary endpoints. Result(s): As of 17 July 2019, 20 patients (median age, 66.0 years) were enrolled; median number of prior regimens was 5 (range, 2-12). All 20 patients received study drugs and were included in the safety analysis. Common (frequency >=10%) grade >=3 treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) assessed as related to sitravatinib by investigators were hypertension (25%) and fatigue (10%). Six patients had AEs that led to sitravatinib discontinuation. The common (frequency >=10%) grade >=3 TEAE assessed as related to tislelizumab by investigators was increased transaminases (10%). Three patients had AEs that led to tislelizumab discontinuation. Of 17 efficacy-evaluable patients, 4 achieved confirmed partial response, 11 had stable disease, and 2 had progressive disease per RECIST version 1.1. The effect of two strains of Photorhabdus spp. from Heterorhabditis amazonensis and their metabolites was tested against Phytophthora in laboratory conditions and in planta using papaya plants. The in vitro experiments showed that both Photorhabdus strains (LPV-499 and LPV-900) have a clear antagonist effect on Phytophthora sp. by suppressing the pathogen growth in more than 62% at 120 h. The bacterial broth was more effective (c.a. 20% better) than the cell free cultures (metabolites) in controlling the oomycete. In planta experiments revealed the biological control potential of both Photorhabdus strains. The most important feature was time of application after pathogen inoculation. During the first two weeks post-infection, bacteria were capable to reduce the pathogenic effect in such a scale that plants recovered up to 89% by curing the necrosis produced in the wounds where the inoculation of the oomycete was done. The number of collapsed stems was reduced to none when the bacteria were applied within the first week post pathogen infection. Agronomic variables such as plant height, fresh and dry weight of stems and roots showed no statistical differences when the curative treatment was applied in the first week post-infection. © 2019, International Organization for Biological Control (IOBC).
