MYB-related transcription factors (TFs) subfamily is a subfamily of MYB TFs, which are mainly involved in plant secondary metabolism, growth and development, and stress response. To explore the function of MYB-related subfamily genes in Rosa chinensis, this study systematically analyzed characters of the MYB-related subfamily members in R. chinensis with bioinformatic analysis using the genomic data of R. chinensis and investigated their expression characteristics using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). The results show that 100 MYB-related proteins were identified in R. chinensis. Proteins are mainly found in the nucleus. Chromosome localization revealed that all MYB-related genes are mapped to seven chromosomes and are distributed in clusters. Collinear analysis shows that 13 pairs of MYB-related genes had a collinear relationship, indicating R. chinensis may have evolved its MYB-related subfamily gene through fragment duplication. The analysis of motifs and conserved domains shows that Motif 3 is the most conserved motif. There are numerous ABA and MeJA response elements in MYB-related genes. ABA and MeJA treatments significantly shortened the vase life of R. chinensis, while the flower diameter on day 3 was the largest, suggesting that ABA and MeJA might induce MYB-related gene expression during cut flower senescence. The expression of MYB-related genes is tissue specific, most of which show the highest expression levels in petals. Notably, among six plant growth regulator treatments, ABA treatment significantly increased RcMYB002 expression in R. chinensis, suggesting that RcMYB002 may be a crucial gene for ABA response. Nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) play important roles in plant growth, development and environmental adaptation. Currently, there is few information on the mechanism by which H2S may be involved in NO‐induced salt tolerance. In this study, cucumber was used to investigate the role of NO and H2S and their relationship under salt stress. The results showed that the H2S donor sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) and the NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) significantly promoted the growth of cucumber seedlings under salt stress. However, hypotaurine (HT, an H2S scavenger) inhibited the positive effects of SNP under salt stress. Meanwhile, SNP treatment significantly increased the content of endogenous H2S, the activity of H2S synthesis‐related enzymes LCD, DCD, and CAS, and the expression of H2S synthesis‐related genes (CsLCD and CsDCD). In addition, the salt tolerance of cucumber seedlings was largely eliminated after silencing the H2S synthesis‐related genes CsLCD/CsDCD, while overexpression of CsLCD/CsDCD significantly enhanced the salt tolerance. It was further found that SNP enhanced the salt tolerance of CsLCD/CsDCD overexpression lines, but it had no positive effect on the tolerance of CsLCD/CsDCD silencing lines. Therefore, NO might enhance salt tolerance in cucumber seedlings by upregulating the expression of H2S synthesis‐related gene CsLCD/CsDCD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Histone modifications are canonical epigenetic modifications mediating plant growth and development. Specially, histone modifications play important regulatory roles in plant fruit ripening, directly affecting fruit color changes, soluble sugar accumulation, and fruit softening. In this review, we focus on the effects of histone acetylation and methylation during fruit ripening. In particular, histone acetylation at H3 and H4 accelerates fruit ripening, whereas removal of histone acetylation via histone deacetylases (HDACs) inhibits or delays ripening by regulating the expression of carotenoid and anthocyanin production, glycometabolism, cell wall degradation, ethylene synthesis and signalling, and cell expansin‐related genes. In addition, histone methylation is also involved in fruit ripening, in which the emergence of H3K27me3 modifications represses fruit ripening and H3K4me3 modifications promote fruit ripening by affecting multiple ripening‐related pathways. However, the relationship between other histone modifications and fruit ripening is currently unclear. Here, we point out that accurate and comprehensive studies concerning the regulatory mechanism of histone modifications in fruit ripening are needed to facilitate the design of high‐quality and high‐yield fruit. Fasciclin-like arabinogalactan proteins (FLAs), a subclass of arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs), participate in mediating plant growth, development, and response to abiotic stress. However, the characterization and function of FLAs in tomato are currently unknown. In this study, members of the tomato FLA family are characterized and analyzed in relation to their response to phytohormonal and abiotic stresses. The results show that a total of 24 FLA members were characterized in tomato. The structural domain analysis showed that these members have a high protein similarity. The expression profiles of different tissues indicated that the genes of most members of the tomato FLA gene family are highly expressed in roots, but to a lower extent in fruits. qRT-PCR analysis revealed that all 24 tomato FLA genes are responsive to ABA and MeJA. SlFLAs showed a positive response to salt and cold stress. SlFLA1, SlFLA12, and SlFLA14 are significantly induced under darkness. SlFLA1 and SlFLA3 are significantly induced under drought stress. This study provides a basis for a further understanding of the role of tomato FLA homologous genes in plant response to abiotic stress and lays the foundation for further research on the function of FLAs in tomato. Objective: To determine the combined cytotoxic effect and the molecular basis of triptolide and sodium cantharidinate on hepatoma cell line 7721.
, Methods: After treating the hepatoma cell line 7721 with triptolide(9, 18, or 36 μg/mL) and/or sodium cantharidinate (2, 5, or 10 μg/mL), cell viability assay and apoptosis were examined by MTT and flocytometry, respectively. The protein levels of caspase 3 and nuclear factor κB were analyzed by Western blot.
, Results: Viability of hepatoma cell line 7721 was inhibited by either the therapy of triptolide and/or sodium cantharidinate (P<0.05) in a time- and dose-dependent manner. The combined effects of both drugs were better than those of the single drug (P<0.05). The combined therapy down-regulated the expression of NF-κB p65 (P<0.05) while up-regulated the expression of caspase-3 (P<0.05).
, Conclusion: Triptolide and sodium cantharidinate exert a synergistic toxic effect on hepatoma cell line 7721, which is related to increasing capase-3 activity and suppression of NF- κB.
