The brightest Gamma-ray burst (GRB) ever, GRB 221009A, displays ultra-long GRB (ULGRB) characteristics, with a prompt emission duration exceeding 1000 s. To constrain the origin and central engine of this unique burst, we analyze its prompt and afterglow characteristics and compare them to the established set of similar GRBs. To achieve this, we statistically examine a nearly complete sample of Swift-detected GRBs with measured redshifts. Categorizing the sample to Bronze, Silver, and Gold by fitting a Gaussian function to the log-normal of T$_{90}$ duration distribution and considering three sub-samples respectively to 1, 2, and 3 times of the standard deviation to the mean value. GRB 221009A falls into the Gold sub-sample. Our analysis of prompt emission and afterglow characteristics aims to identify trends between the three burst groups. Notably, the Gold sub-sample (a higher likelihood of being ULGRB candidates) suggests a collapsar scenario with a hyper-accreting black hole as a potential central engine, while a few GRBs (GRB 060218, GRB 091024A, and GRB 100316D) in our Gold sub-sample favor a magnetar. Late-time near-IR (NIR) observations from 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT) rule out the presence of any bright supernova associated with GRB 221009A in the Gold sub-sample. To further constrain the physical properties of ULGRB progenitors, we employ the tool MESA to simulate the evolution of low-metallicity massive stars with different initial rotations. We present cosmological analysis of 12 nearby ($z<0.06$) Type IIP supernovae (SNe IIP) observed with the ROTSE-IIIb telescope. To achieve precise photometry, we present a new image differencing technique that is implemented for the first time on the ROTSE SN photometry pipeline. With this method, we find up to a 20\% increase in the detection efficiency and significant reduction in residual RMS scatter of the SN lightcurves when compared to the previous pipeline performance. We use the published optical spectra and broadband photometry of well studied SNe IIP to establish temporal models for ejecta velocity and photospheric temperature evolution for our SNe IIP population. This study yields measurements that are competitive to other methods even when the data are limited to a single epoch during the photospheric phase of SNe IIP. Using the fully reduced ROTSE photometry and optical spectra, we apply these models to the respective photometric epochs for each SN in the ROTSE IIP sample. This facilitates the use of the Expanding Photosphere Method (EPM) to obtain distance estimates to their respective host galaxies. We then perform cosmological parameter fitting using these EPM distances from which we measure the Hubble constant to be $72.9^{+5.7}_{-4.3}~{\rm kms^{-1}~Mpc^{-1}}$, which is consistent with the standard $\Lambda CDM$ model values derived using other independent techniques., Comment: 19 pages, 13 figures

In this proceeding, we present the 1-dimensional stellar evolution of two rotating population III (Pop III) star models, each having a mass of 25 M$_{\odot}$ at the zero-age main-sequence (ZAMS). The slowly rotating model has an initial angular rotational velocity of 10 per cent of the critical angular rotational velocity. In contrast, the rapidly rotating model has an initial angular rotational velocity of 70 per cent of the critical angular rotational velocity. As an effect of rotationally enhanced mixing, we find that the rapidly rotating model suffers an enormous mass loss due to the deposition of a significant amount of CNO elements toward the surface after the main-sequence phase. In this Letter, we report the outcomes of 1-D modelling of a rotating 25 M$_{\odot}$ zero-age main-sequence Population III star up to the stage of the onset of core collapse. Rapidly rotating models display violent and sporadic mass losses after the Main-Sequence stage. In comparison to the solar metallicity model, Pop III models show very small pre-supernova radii. Further, with models at the stage of the onset of core collapse, we simulate the hydrodynamic simulations of resulting supernovae. Depending upon the mass losses due to corresponding rotations and stellar winds, the resulting supernovae span a class from weak Type II to Type Ib/c. We find that the absolute magnitudes of the core-collapse supernovae resulting from Pop III stars are much fainter than that resulting from a solar metallicity star. From our simulation results, we also conclude that within the considered limits of explosion energies and Nickel masses, these transient events are very faint, making it difficult for them to be detected at high redshifts., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS:Letters

We present a detailed prompt emission and early optical afterglow analysis of the two very high energy (VHE) detected bursts GRB 201015A and GRB 201216C, and their comparison with a subset of similar bursts. Time-resolved spectral analysis of multi-structured GRB 201216C using the Bayesian binning algorithm revealed that during the entire duration of the burst, the low energy spectral index ($\alpha_{\rm pt}$) remained below the limit of the synchrotron line of death. However, statistically some of the bins supported the additional thermal component. Additionally, the evolution of spectral parameters showed that both peak energy (Ep) and $\alpha_{\rm pt}$ tracked the flux. These results were further strengthened using the values of the physical parameters obtained by synchrotron modeling of the data. Our earliest optical observations of both bursts using FRAM-ORM and BOOTES robotic telescopes displayed a smooth bump in their early optical light curves, consistent with the onset of the afterglow due to synchrotron emission from an external forward shock. Using the observed optical peak, we constrained the initial bulk Lorentz factors of GRB 201015A and GRB 201216C to $\Gamma_0$ = 204 and $\Gamma_0$ = 310, respectively. In this work, we study the synthetic explosions of a massive star. We take a 100 M$_{\odot}$ zero--age main--sequence (ZAMS) star and evolve it until the onset of core-collapse using {\tt MESA}. Then, the resulting star model is exploded using the publicly available stellar explosion code, {\tt STELLA}. The outputs of {\tt STELLA} calculations provide us the bolometric light curve and photospheric velocity evolution along with other physical properties of the underlying supernova. In this paper, the effects of having large Hydrogen-envelope on the supernova light curve have been explored. In this work, we employ two publicly available analysis tools to study four hydrogen(H)--stripped core--collapse supernovae (CCSNe) namely, SN 2009jf, iPTF13bvn, SN 2015ap, and SN 2016bau. We use the Modular Open-Source Fitter for Transients ({\tt MOSFiT}) to model the multi band light curves. {\tt MOSFiT} analyses show ejecta masses (log M$_{ej}$) of $0.80_{-0.13}^{+0.18}$ M$_{\odot}$, $0.15_{-0.09}^{+0.13}$ M$_{\odot}$, $0.19_{-0.03}^{+0.03}$ M$_{\odot}$, and $0.19_{+0.02}^{-0.01}$ M$_{\odot}$ for SN 2009jf, iPTF13vn, SN 2015ap, and SN 2016au, respectively. Later, Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics ({\tt MESA}), is used to construct models of stars from pre-main sequence upto core collapse which serve as the possible progenitors of these H-stripped CCSNe. Based on literature, we model a 12 M$_{\odot}$ ZAMS star as the possible progenitor for iPTF13vn, SN 2015ap, and SN 2016bau while a 20 M$_{\odot}$ ZAMS star is modeled as the possible progenitor for SN 2009jf. In this article, we present multi-band photometric observations and analysis of the host galaxies for a sample of five interesting gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) observed using the 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT) and the back-end instruments. The host galaxy observations of GRBs provide unique opportunities to estimate the stellar mass, ages, star-formation rates, and other vital properties of the burst environments and hence progenitors. We performed a detailed spectral energy distribution (SED) modeling of the five host galaxies using an advanced tool called Prospector, a stellar population synthesis model. Furthermore, we compared the results with a larger sample of well-studied host galaxies of GRBs, supernovae, and normal star-forming galaxies. Our SED modeling suggests that GRB 130603B, GRB 140102A, GRB 190829A, and GRB 200826A have massive host galaxies with high star formation rates (SFRs). On the other hand, a supernovae-connected GRB 030329 has a rare low-mass galaxy with a low star formation rate. We also find that GRB 190829A has the highest (in our sample) amount of visual dust extinction and gas in its local environment of the host, suggesting that the observed very high energy emission from this burst might have a unique local environment. Broadly, the five GRBs in our sample satisfy the typical correlations between host galaxies parameters and these physical parameters are more common to normal star-forming galaxies at the high-redshift Universe. Optical follow-up observations of optical afterglows of gamma-ray bursts are crucial to probe the geometry of outflows, emission mechanisms, energetics, and burst environments. We performed the follow-up observations of GRB 210205A and ZTF21aaeyldq (AT2021any) using the 3.6m Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT) around one day after the burst to deeper limits due to the longitudinal advantage of the place. This paper presents our analysis of the two objects using data from other collaborative facilities, i.e., 2.2m Calar Alto Astronomical Observatory (CAHA) and other archival data. Our analysis suggests that GRB 210205A is a potential dark burst once compared with the X-ray afterglow data. Also, comparing results with other known and well-studied dark GRBs samples indicate that the reason for the optical darkness of GRB 210205A could either be intrinsic faintness or a high redshift event. Based on our analysis, we also found that ZTF21aaeyldq is the third known orphan afterglow with a measured redshift except for ZTF20aajnksq (AT2020blt) and ZTF19abvizsw (AT2019pim). The multiwavelength afterglow modelling of ZTF21aaeyldq using the afterglowpy package demands a forward shock model for an ISM-like ambient medium with a rather wider jet opening angle. We determine circumburst density of $n_{0}$ = 0.87 cm$^{-3}$, kinetic energy $E_{k}$ = 3.80 $\times 10^{52}$ erg and the afterglow modelling also indicates that ZTF21aaeyldq is observed on-axis ($\theta_{obs} < \theta_{core}$) and a gamma-ray counterpart was missed by GRBs satellites. We present an extensive ($\sim$ 1200 d) photometric and spectroscopic monitoring of the Type IIn supernova (SN) 2012ab. After a rapid initial rise leading to a bright maximum (M$_{R}$ = $-$19.39 mag), the light curves show a plateau lasting about 2 months followed by a steep decline up to about 100 d. Only in the $U$ band the decline is constant in the same interval. At later phases, the light curves remain flatter than the $^{56}$Co decline suggesting the increasing contribution of the interaction between SN ejecta with circumstellar material (CSM). Although heavily contaminated by emission lines of the host galaxy, the early spectral sequence (until 32 d) shows persistent narrow emissions, indicative of slow unshocked CSM, and the emergence of broad Balmer lines of hydrogen with P-Cygni profiles over a blue continuum, arising from a fast expanding SN ejecta. From about 2 months to $\sim$1200 d, the P-Cygni profiles are overcome by intermediate width emissions (FWHM $\sim 6000$ \kms), produced in the shocked region due to interaction. On the red wing a red bump appears after 76 d, likely a signature of the onset of interaction of the receding ejecta with the CSM. The presence of fast material both approaching and then receding is suggestive that we are observing the SN along the axis of a jet-like ejection in a cavity devoid of or uninterrupted by CSM in the innermost regions., Comment: 8 Tables, 17 Figures. This paper presents data and analysis of SN 2010kd, a low-redshift ($z = 0.101$) H-deficient superluminous supernova (SLSN), based on ultraviolet/optical photometry and optical spectroscopy spanning between $-$28 and +194 days relative to $\mathit{B}$ band maximum light. The $\mathit{B}$ band light curve comparison of SN 2010kd with a subset of well-studied SLSNe I at comparable redshifts indicates that it is a slow-decaying PTF12dam like SLSN. Analytical light-curve modeling using the $\mathtt{Minim}$ code suggests that the bolometric light curve of SN 2010kd favors circumstellar matter interaction for the powering mechanism. $\mathtt{SYNAPPS}$ modeling of the early-phase spectra does not identify broad H or He lines, whereas the photospheric-phase spectra are dominated by O I, O II, C II, C IV and Si II, particularly, presence of both low and high-velocity components of O II and Si II lines. The nebular-phase spectra of SN 2010kd are dominated by O I and Ca II emission lines similar to those seen in other SLSNe I. The line velocities in SN 2010kd exhibit flatter evolution curves similar to SN 2015bn but with comparatively higher values. SN 2010kd shows a higher single-zone local thermodynamic equilibrium temperature in comparison to PTF12dam and SN 2015bn, and it has an upper O I ejected mass limit of $\sim 10~M_\odot$. We present photometric and spectroscopic observations of the type Ibn supernova (SN) 2019uo, the second ever SN Ibn with flash ionization (He II, C III, N III) features in its early spectra. SN 2019uo displays a rapid post-peak luminosity decline of 0.1 mag d$^{-1}$ similar to most of the SNe Ibn, but is fainter ($M^V_{max} = -18.30 \pm 0.24$ mag) than a typical SN Ibn and shows a color evolution that places it between SNe Ib and the most extreme SNe Ibn. SN 2019uo shows P-cygni He I features in the early spectra which gradually evolves and becomes emission dominated post peak. It also shows faster evolution in line velocities as compared to most other members of the type Ibn subclass. The TMT Detailed Science Case describes the transformational science that the Thirty Meter Telescope will enable. Planned to begin science operations in 2024, TMT will open up opportunities for revolutionary discoveries in essentially every field of astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology, seeing much fainter objects much more clearly than existing telescopes. Per this capability, TMT's science agenda fills all of space and time, from nearby comets and asteroids, to exoplanets, to the most distant galaxies, and all the way back to the very first sources of light in the Universe. We combine X-ray and optical observations from the Swift X-Ray Telescope and the Swift UltraViolet/Optical Telescope with ground-based optical and infrared data obtained using the REM, ROTSE, and CTIO 1.3-m telescopes to construct a detailed data set extending from 86 s to approximately 100,000 s after the BAT trigger. Our data cover a wide energy range, from 10 keV to 0.77 eV (1.24 to 16,000 Angstrom). The X-ray afterglow shows a shallow initial decay followed by a rapid decay starting at about 18,000 s. The optical and infrared afterglow, however, shows an uncharacteristic rise at about 3000 s that does not correspond to any feature in the X-ray light curve. Our data are not consistent with synchrotron radiation from a jet interacting with an external medium, a two-component jet, or continuous energy injection from the central engine. We find that the optical light curves can be broadly explained by a collision between two ejecta shells within a two-component jet.
