We report the results of synthesis of zinc selenide (ZnSe) nanocrystals into SiO2/Si track templates formed by irradiation with 200 MeV Xe ions up to a fluence of 107 ions/cm2. Zinc selenide nanocrystals were obtained by chemical deposition from the alkaline aqueous solution. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy, and electrical measurements were used for characterization of synthesized ZnSe/SiO2nanoporous/Si nanocomposites. XRD data for as-deposited precipitates revealed the formation of ZnSe nanocrystals with cubic crystal structure, spatial syngony F-43m (216). According to non-empirical calculations using GGA-PBE and HSE06 functionals, ZnSe crystal is a direct-zone crystal with a minimum bandgap width of 2.36 eV and anisotropic electronic distribution. It was found that a thermal treatment of synthesized nanocomposites at 800 °C results in an increase in ZnSe nanocrystallites size as well as an increase in emission intensity of created precipitates in a broad UV-VIS spectra range. However, vacuum conditions of annealing still do not completely prevent the oxidation of zinc selenide, and a formation of hexagonal ZnO phase is registered in the annealed samples. The effect of ceria doping of (ZrO2)1−x(Sm2O3)x crystals on their phase composition, microhardness and fracture toughness was studied. The (ZrO2)0.995−x(Sm2O3)x(CeO2)0.005 crystals (where x = 0.032, 0.037 and 0.04) were grown using directional melt crystallization in a cold crucible. The mechanical properties, such as microhardness and fracture toughness, were explored using Vickers indentation. It was shown that the (ZrO2)0.995−x(Sm2O3)x(CeO2)0.005 solid-solution crystals contained both Ce4+ and Ce3+ ions. Phase analysis data suggested that CeO2 doping increased the tetragonality degree of the transformable t phase and reduced the tetragonality degree of the non-transformable t' phase as compared to the (ZrO2)1−x(Sm2O3)x crystals. As a result, the t→m phase transition triggered by the indentation-induced stress in the CeO2-doped crystals was more intense and covered greater regions. CeO2 doping of the solid solutions increased the fracture toughness of all the crystals studied, whereas the microhardness of the crystals changed only slightly. CeO2 doping of the (ZrO2)1−x(Sm2O3)x solid solutions in the experimental concentration range did not improve the high-temperature phase stability of the crystals and did not prevent high-temperature degradation of their fracture toughness. This study focuses on the wet chemical synthesis of AlxGa1−xAs nanostructures, highlighting how different deposition conditions affect the film morphology and material properties. Electrochemical etching was used to texture GaAs substrates, enhancing mechanical adhesion and chemical bonding. Various deposition regimes, including voltage switching, gradual voltage increase, and pulsed voltage, were applied to explore their impact on the film growth mechanisms. SEM analysis revealed distinct morphologies, EDX confirmed variations in aluminum content, Raman spectroscopy detected structural disorders, and XRD analysis demonstrated peak position shifts. The findings emphasize the versatility and cost-effectiveness of wet electrochemical methods for fabricating high-quality AlxGa1−xAs films with tailored properties, showing potential for optoelectronic devices, high-efficiency solar cells, and other advanced semiconductor applications. The single crystals of CsI-Yb2+ were grown, and their spectroscopic studies were conducted. The observed luminescence in CsI-Yb2+ is due to 5d–4f transitions in Yb2+ ions. Using time-resolved spectroscopy, spin-allowed and spin-forbidden radiative transitions of ytterbium ions at room temperature were found. The excitation spectra of Yb2+ luminescence bands were obtained in the range of 3–45 eV. The mechanism of charge compensation of Yb2+ ions in a CsI crystal was also studied, the spectrum of the thermally stimulated depolarization current was measured, and the activation energies of the two observed peaks were calculated. These peaks belong to impurity–vacancy complexes in two different positions. The charge compensation of Yb2+ occurs via cation vacancies in the nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor positions.The Yb2+ ions are promising dopants for CsI scintillators and X-ray phosphors in combination with SiPM photodetectors. CdxTeyOz nanocomposite films were grown by the SILAR method on the CdS/ZnO surface during cyclic processing in precursor solutions followed by removal of excess reagent from the surface of the substrate by washing in hydrogen peroxide. To stabilise the surface states and saturate with oxygen, the surface was annealed in a diffusion furnace. XRD, RAMAN, and SEM analyses were used to analyse the phase composition, structural, and substructural parameters. The nanocomposite film consists of different types of oxides, namely trigonal TeO3, Monoclinic TeO4 and CdTe3O8, orthorhombic TeO2 and CdTeO3. The formation of films is explained using the Volmer–Weber growth mechanism. SEM analysis of the formed nanocomposite showed the presence of nanometer-scale globules. The theoretical base was developed and the mathematical model of dynamic thermal processes in a compartment of public transport was constructed. The software which is realized the constructed mathematical model was developed. The mathematical model provides for the possibility of taking into account the most possible environmental conditions which can have place in the actual operating conditions of a transport even the angle of illumination - the current temperature of the external environment, the presence of solar radiation taking into account the angle of sun’s illumination, and the temperature of the roadway. The software allows calculation and visualization non –stationary temperature fields in the public transport’s compartments using the example of a trolley bus. For a specific trolley bus design, a series of experiments to calculate the comfortable temperature for passengers were conducted, These experiments are showed the performance of the constructed model and allowed to formulate a specific proposal for improving the thermoregulation system of the trolleybus’ passenger compartment.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy is used to investigate a composition of wash swabs from the Cu-TiO2/TiO2-modified filters with disinfecting ability. Macroporous Si chips coated with conformal 800 nm thick Ni layer and Ag particles (Ag/Ni) are engineered to act as SERS-active substrates. Such substrates are characterized by a moderate reflection band in the visible range and provide an improved heat dissipation from contaminants in wash swabs during SERS study. This prevents thermal-induced destruction of analyzing media for reliable assessment of its composition. The anatase Cu-TiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized using the sol-gel method and characterized via Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. The filters are modified with Cu-TiO2/TiO2 nanoparticles and embedded in three-valve facial masks that are worn by a volunteer to breathe for 4 h. Comparative SERS analysis of the filters shows that they slightly destroy chemical bonds in the molecules constituting airborne contaminations upon ceiling day lights, which can be associated with Cu-TiO2 photocatalytic activity. The filters additionally exposed to near-ultraviolet light prominently decrease the intensity of Raman signatures of airborne contaminant due to the presence of pure TiO2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the results of the leaching of metals from computer PCBs by electrochemical hydrochlorination using alternating current (AC) with an industrial frequency (50 Hz). Leaching was carried out with a disintegrator-crushed computer motherboard with a particle size (d) of <90 μm. In the course of the research, the leaching efficiency of metals including Fe, Sn, Mn, Al, Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni, Ti, Sb, Cr, Co and V was evaluated depending on process parameters, such as AC density, experiment duration, hydrochloric acid concentration in the electrolyte solution, solid/liquid ratio, electrolyte temperature, and the loading option of raw material (loading option 1 involving loading into the electrolyte solution, and loading option 2 involving loading into the filter containers attached to electrodes). The research results showed that AC superimposition significantly intensifies the leaching of metals. It was established that the complete leaching of metals including Al, Mn, Sn, Ti and Zn, under experimental conditions (loading option 2, CHCl = 6 mol·L−1, i = 0.80 A·cm−2, S/L = 8.6 g·L−1), is reached after 1.5 h, and that of Cu and Ni is reached after 2 h from the beginning of the experiment. At the same time, the degree of leaching of other metals after 2 h is Co-78.8%, Cr-84.4%, Sb-91.7%, Fe-98.9%, V-98.1% and Pb-5.1%. Chloride is one of the most abundant ions in sea water, which is more available than fresh water. Due to lack of H 2 O adsorbate states near the valence band maximum (VBM) edge, the difficulty of water dissociation incidents has been reported on the rutile TiO 2 surface as the excitation energy is around the band gap energy of TiO 2 . It is interesting whether the extra chloride can be a benefit to the water dissociation or not. In this study, the models of chlorine adatoms placed on the rutile TiO 2 (110)/water interface are constructed using ab initio methods. The time-dependent spatial charges, bond-lengths of water molecules, and Hirshfeld charges are calculated by real-time time-dependent density functional theory and the Ehrenfest dynamics theory for investigating the excited state nonadiabatic dynamics of water dissociation. This study presents two photoinduced water-splitting pathways related to chlorine and analyzes the photogenerated hole along the reactions. The first step of water dissociation relies on the localized competition of oxygen charges between the dissociated water and the bridge site of TiO 2 for transforming the water into hydroxyl and hydrogen by photoinduced driving force.
