Desmoid tumours are rare tumours originating from fibroblasts, and are characterised by local infiltration and no metastasis. When complete resection is possible, surgical resection is considered a first-line treatment. In the case of large desmoid tumours, it is mainly performed by laparotomy, not laparoscopy. We report a case of a 43-year-old female patient presenting with a hypodense mass of approximately 5 cm in the posterior wall of the gastric antrum on computed tomography. There was no history of familial adenomatous polyposis, trauma or abdominal surgery. The patient underwent laparoscopic gastric wedge resection and spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy without peri-operative complications. Pathological analysis revealed a desmoid tumour, which originated from the stomach and invaded the pancreas. Despite the large size and the locally infiltrative characteristics of these tumours, laparoscopic surgery can be an optimal treatment option due to its advantages.

Objective: To investigate the effect of hatching status on predicting pregnancy outcomes in single vitrified‐warmed blastocyst transfer (SVBT) by objectively subdividing pre‐implantation blastocysts according to hatching status. Methods: This retrospective study included 817 SVBT cycles performed between January 2016 and December 2017. Transferred embryos were categorized according to their hatching status as follows: group I (n = 147), non‐hatching blastocysts; group II (n = 484), hatching blastocysts; and group III (n = 186), completely hatched blastocysts. Hatching blastocysts (group II) were then classified based on the ratio of the blastocystic diameter outside and inside the zona pellucida into early (n = 185), mid‐ (n = 103), and late (n = 196) hatching stages. Implantation rate (IR), clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), live birth rate (LBR), multiple pregnancy rate (MPR), miscarriage rate, and neonatal outcomes were evaluated. Results: For groups I, II, and III, respectively, the results were as follows: IR (28.6%, 43.6%, and 53.8%; P < 0.001), CPR (27.9%, 42.8%, and 53.2%; P < 0.001), and LBR (23.1%, 32.0%, and 42.5%; P < 0.001). Group III had better IR, CPR, and LBR. Among hatching blastocysts, late‐hatching blastocysts had the highest IR (33.5%, 46.6%, and 51.5% for early, mid‐, and late hatching, respectively; P = 0.002) and CPR (33.0%, 45.6%, and 50.5%; P = 0.002), with a tendency for a higher rate of LBR. Neonatal outcomes were not influenced by the hatching status. Conclusion: Advanced hatching status is positively associated with a higher rate of clinical pregnancy and live birth with no negative effects on neonatal outcomes. Additionally, the quantitative classification of hatching status was found to be predictive of pregnancy outcomes. Objective: To evaluate the effects of the duration of cryostorage on clinical outcomes after embryo transfer of vitrified blastocysts stored in an open‐device slush‐nitrogen (SN2) system. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was carried out on 1632 autologous vitrified‐warmed blastocyst transfer cycles between January 2013 and June 2014. Duration of cryostorage was divided into four groups: Group I: 0–6 months (n=937); Group II: 7–12 months (n=299); Group III: 13–24 months (n=165); and Group IV: ≥25 months (n=231). The effects of the duration of cryostorage on the survival rate (SR), clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), live birth rate (LBR), and neonatal outcomes of vitrified blastocysts stored in an open‐device SN2 system were evaluated. Results: There were no significant differences between groups in SR, CPR, LBR, and neonatal outcomes after autologous vitrified‐warmed blastocyst transfer. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed no effect on LBR from duration of cryostorage. Conclusion: Vitrification using SN2 and long‐term cryostorage in an open‐device system are safe and effective and do not significantly affect clinical outcomes after embryo transfer. We have applied a simple cross-patterning technique for the fabrication of phosphorescent white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) with red, green and blue (RGB) emitters; the resulting device has relatively low driving voltage and high colour stability. The selectively cross-patterned multicolour emitting layer (EML) was easily prepared using a metal mask without an alignment process. Not only was the characteristic of low driving voltage obtained but also of improved colour stability, which can be ascribed to the simplified stack of the EML and the corresponding suppression of the biased shift in the recombination zone. The spatial distribution and variation of the stacked EML structure could explain the origin of the robust white emission. Compared with the conventional WOLED with a RGB simple stack, the cross-patterned multi-EML device showed a slight change in colour coordinates in the luminance range 100-8000 cdm-2, with a decrease in the driving voltage of 0.5-2.0V, while the luminous efficiency was maintained [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim Methods Results Conclusions To evaluate the relationship between AMH and ovarian response to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation in women with PCOM and PCOS.A retrospective study was conducted on 559 patients who underwent the IVF‐ET cycle between January 2018 and December 2022 at Gangnam Cha Hospital. Patients were divided into 3 groups matched for age and BMI: the PCOS group (n = 54), based on the new 2023 PCOS guideline; the PCOM group (n = 53); and the control group (n = 452) with normal ovaries. Serum AMH levels were converted to multiples of the median (MoM) for each corresponding age. The ovarian sensitivity index (OSI) was calculated as the number of retrieved oocytes divided by the total dose of recombinant FSH administered (per 1000 IU).There were significant differences in AMH‐MoM value among women with PCOS [2.7 ± 1.3 (95% CI 2.3–3.0)], those with PCOM [2.0 ± 1.0 (95% CI 1.7–2.3)], and controls [0.8 ± 0.7 (95% CI 0.8–0.9)] (p < 0.001). The abortion rates in the normoovulatory, PCOM, and PCOS groups were 18.2%, 21.1%, and 25.0%, respectively. OSI and live birth rate were positively correlated with the AMH‐MoM value in normoovulatory women (r = 0.389, p < 0.05, r = 0.122, p < 0.05), while no such correlation was observed in women with PCOM and PCOS.Ovarian response and live birth rate are possibly correlated with the AMH‐MoM value in normoovulatory women, but not in women with PCOM and PCOS. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the learning curve of hand-assisted laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy (HLDN) conducted by a trained gastrointestinal surgeon., Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the perioperative clinical data of 96 consecutive patients who underwent HLDN from May 2013 to March 2023. The learning curve was evaluated using the cumulative sum (CUSUM) test based on operation time and risk-adjusted CUSUM for postoperative complications. Patients were divided into three groups (novice, development, and competency phases) based on changes in operation time. Patient demographics and perioperative outcomes were compared between each group., Results: Among the patients, 35 were male, with a mean age of 48.9 ± 11.3 years and a mean body mass index (BMI) of 24.5 ± 3.2 kg/m 2 . The novice phase (phase 1) included the first 30 cases, with the development phase (phase 2) up to the 65th case. Operation times were significantly different across phases, averaging 263.2 ± 33.4, 211.1 ± 34.4, and 161.1 ± 31.3 minutes for phases 1, 2, and 3, respectively (P < 0.001). Blood loss decreased gradually across phases (phase 1, 264.7 ± 144.4 mL; phase 2, 239.7 ± 166.3 mL; phase 3, 198.8 ± 103.5 mL), though not statistically significant. BMI impacted operation time only in phase 1. Purpose: Bariatric surgery is an increasingly common treatment for obesity and related comorbidities. This meta-analysis aimed to compare the outcomes of bariatric surgery and medical treatment (MT)., Materials and Methods: A systematic search of articles published from January 2013 to May 2023 identified 20 studies. The treatment arms included Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), sleeve gastrectomy (SG), gastric banding, and MT. The assessed outcomes included body weight loss, diabetes mellitus (DM) remission, changes in dyslipidemia and hypertension markers, and adverse events., Results: Bariatric surgery resulted in significantly better short- and long-term weight loss than MT, with RYGB and SG showing the most substantial reduction. The DM remission rates were notably higher in the surgery group, with marked improvements in hemoglobin A1c and fasting glucose levels. Improvements in dyslipidemia were inconclusive, whereas hypertension showed modest improvements, particularly with RYGB. Complication rates varied, with RYGB reporting higher rates of early complications, and SG reporting increased rates of late complications. The perioperative reoperation rates were low across all surgical treatments. Specific adverse events, such as intestinal obstruction and anastomosis site problems, were more common in the RYGB group, whereas reflux symptoms were more common in the SG group., Conclusion: Bariatric surgery, especially RYGB and SG, provided superior weight loss and DM remission outcomes compared to MT, although with varied complication profiles. These findings underscore the need for careful patient selection and postoperative management in bariatric surgery.
