Abstract

BACKGROUND: Recent clinical trials established the benefit of dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and clopidogrel (DAPT-AC) in early-presenting patients with minor ischemic stroke. However, the impact of these trials over time on the use and outcomes of DAPT-AC among the patients with nonminor or late-presenting stroke who do not meet the eligibility criteria of these trials has not been delineated. METHODS AND RESULTS: In a multicenter stroke registry, this study examined yearly changes from April 2008 to August 2022 in DAPT-AC use for stroke patients ineligible for CHANCE/POINT (Clopidogrel in High-Risk Patients with Acute Nondisabling Cerebrovascular Events/Platelet-Oriented Inhibition in New TIA and Minor Ischemic Stroke) clinical trials due to National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale >4 or late arrival beyond 24 hours of onset. A total of 32 118 patients (age, 68.1±13.1 years; male, 58.5%) with National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale of 4 (interquartile range, 1-7) were analyzed. In 2008, DAPT-AC was used in 33.0%, other antiplatelets in 62.7%, and no antiplatelet in 4.3%. Abstract

Two new species of Leptochelia Dana, 1849 are described from the western coast of Korea. Leptochelia grandidentata n. sp. is similar to L. itoi and L. lusei characterized by pleonites 4 and 5 of subequal lengths and a uropod endopod with 4 articles but differentiated by a cheliped fixed finger longer than the dactylus and with 4 teeth along the incisive margin, a maxilliped basis with 4 distal setae, and pereopod 1 propodus that is much longer than the combined length of unguis and dactylus. Leptochelia suhi n. sp. shares some features of L. myora with the first article of the uropod endopod longer than the second article and a maxilliped endite with 3 spiniform distal setae but can be differentiated by the cephalothorax being longer than the pleon, the relatively longer antennule article 3 compared to article 2, and the cheliped fixed finger with 3 robust teeth along the incisive margin. In this study, full descriptions of L. grandidentata and L. suhi are given, and a comparison with closely related species belonging to the ‘dubia/savignyi group’ is tabulated and discussed.

Abstract

In recent years, identification of nonlinear dynamical systems from data has become increasingly popular. Sparse regression approaches, such as Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy), fostered the development of novel governing equation identification algorithms assuming the state variables are known a priori and the governing equations lend themselves to sparse, linear expansions in a (nonlinear) basis of the state variables. In the context of the identification of governing equations of nonlinear dynamical systems, one faces the problem of identifiability of model parameters when state measurements are corrupted by noise. Measurement noise affects the stability of the recovery process yielding incorrect sparsity patterns and inaccurate estimation of coefficients of the governing equations. In this work, we investigate and compare the performance of several local and global smoothing techniques to a priori denoise the state measurements and numerically estimate the state time-derivatives to improve the accuracy and robustness of two sparse regression methods to recover governing equations: Sequentially Thresholded Least Squares (STLS) and Weighted Basis Pursuit Denoising (WBPDN) algorithms. We empirically show that, in general, global methods, which use the entire measurement data set, outperform local methods, which employ a neighboring data subset around a local point. We additionally compare Generalized Cross Validation (GCV) and Pareto curve criteria as model selection techniques to automatically estimate near optimal tuning parameters, and conclude that Pareto curves yield better results. The performance of the denoising strategies and sparse regression methods is empirically evaluated through well-known benchmark problems of nonlinear dynamical systems., Comment: 39 pages, 24 figures, 7 tables
