Abstract

Knowledge Representation (KR) is traditionally based on the logic of facts, expressed in boolean logic. However, facts about an agent can also be seen as a set of accomplished tasks by the agent. This paper proposes a new approach to KR: the notion of task logical KR based on Computability Logic. This notion allows the user to represent both accomplished tasks and accomplishable tasks by the agent. 9. Towards Interactive Object-Oriented Programming

Abstract

To represent interactive objects, we propose a choice-disjunctive declaration statement of the form S R where S;R are the (procedure or field) declaration statements within a class. This statement has the following semantics: request the user to choose one between S and R when an object of this class is created. This statement is useful for representing interactive objects that require interactions with the user.

10. Improving Robustness via Disjunctive Statements in Imperative Programming

Abstract

To deal with failures as simply as possible, we propose a new foun- dation for the core (untyped) C, which is based on a new logic called task logic or imperative logic. We then introduce a sequential-disjunctive statement of the form S : R. This statement has the following semantics: execute S and R sequentially. It is considered a success if at least one of S;R is a success. This statement is useful for dealing with inessential errors without explicitly catching them.

Abstract

Linear logic programming uses provability as the basis for computation. In the operational semantics based on provability, executing the additive-conjunctive goal $G_1 \& G_2$ from a program $P$ simply terminates with a success if both $G_1$ and $G_2$ are solvable from $P$. This is an unsatisfactory situation, as a central action of \& -- the action of choosing either $G_1$ or $G_2$ by the user -- is missing in this semantics. We propose to modify the operational semantics above to allow for more active participation from the user. 18. Submission within the Godhead and the Church in the Epistle to the Philippians

Abstract

This thesis seeks to conduct an exegetical and theological investigation of the notion of submission in the Epistle to the Philippians, in order to evaluate whether or not the normative understanding of submission as oppressive or coercive can be sustained in Philippians. Our investigation begins with exegesis of Philippians 2:6-11 and 3:2-11. In Chapters One and Two, we interact with the dominant interpretations of each passage and propose our own interpretation of each passage and suggest a theory of integration between Philippians 2 and 3. Chapter Three delves into a different terrain of biblical scholarship: Castelli's post-modern critique of Paul's mimetic injunctions as rhetoric of coercive power. In rigorous engagement with Castelli's interpretation we accomplish two objectives. First, by examining Castelli's interpretation, we explore the notions of power/authority, hierarchy and submission, which prepare the ground for our analysis of submission. And second, we conclude our arguments against a strict understanding of mimesis based on the examination of ancient Hellenistic and first century Greco-Roman literature on mimesis. In Chapter Four, we investigate three primary elements regarding submission in Philippians: 1) the definition of submission; 2) the context of submission; and 3) the rationale of submission. These three elements are examined on three levels of relationships in Philippians: 1) intra-divine relations; 2) God-believer relations; and 3) inter-believer relations. These issues are correlated to Paul's theology and ethics in Philippians. And finally, in Chapter Five, we offer a brief interaction with three feminist theologians, in order to examine the validity of their claims concerning equality, hierarchy and submission in Philippians.

Abstract

Atomically dispersed catalysts provide excellent catalytic properties and atom utilization efficiency, but their high-temperature application has been limited by their low thermal stability. Herein, we report atomically dispersed Pt catalysts that are both highly active and thermally stable in fuel cells and electrolyzers operating above 600 °C. We developed a urea-based chemical synthetic method that strongly anchors atomic-scale Pt species on the surface of ceria nanoparticles and prevents their agglomeration at high temperatures. Doping the ceria with gadolinia further enhances their catalytic properties by increasing the oxygen vacancy concentration and promoting the oxygen exchange kinetics. This process enables in situ synthesis within the porous electrode of realistic solid oxide cells and significantly improves the power output and H2 production rate in fuel cell and electrolysis modes, respectively. Furthermore, this electrode stably operated without noticeable degradation during a long-term evaluation, thus proving the excellent thermal stability of atomically dispersed Pt/ceria catalysts.
