This paper presents the wideband bandpass filter (BPF) in the microwave frequency domain. The realisation approach is based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) phenomenon using plasmonic metamaterial. A novel unit cell is designed for filter design using an LC resonator concept. Then SSPPs BPF is realised using an optimised mode converter and five unit cells. This paper includes a brief design detail of the proposed novel unit cell. The passband of BPF is achieved at approximately 1.20 - 5.80 GHz, 3dB bandwidth is tentatively 4.60 GHz and the insertion loss is less than 2 dB approximately over the passband. The overall dimension of fabricated filter is (90 x 45) mm. A basic schematic of transmission line representation is also proposed to evaluate the BPF structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the design and analysis of a planar pattern reconfigurable antenna for WLAN applications. The proposed design makes use of four Vee dipoles placed around a center input probe. The directional beam generated can be reconfigured to any one of the four directions in the azimuth plane (xy plane). The antenna pattern can be controlled by means of switches provided to connect the Vee dipoles to the input port. The design and analysis of the parameters show the scalability of the design to adapt to any frequency of choice. To validate the concept, an antenna is designed for the WLAN frequency of 5.3GHz, and a prototype is fabricated. The measured results match closely to that of simulated results. The gain provided by the antenna is noted as 7.5 dBi. The planar structure and simple design of the antenna enable this antenna to be useful for modern pattern reconfigurable communication systems. In this paper, the design and implementation of a quint-band bandpass filter employing just two stub-loaded stepped-impedance resonators is presented. The flexibility in controlling the fundamental and higher order resonant frequencies based on the impedance ratio and electrical length ratios of an open stub-loaded stepped-impedance resonator (SL-SIR) is utilized to design a multi-band bandpass filter. A quint-band filter has been designed and fabricated with centre frequencies of 2 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 4.3 GHz, 5.4 GHz and 6.9 GHz. Overall size of the filter is 0.36λg x 0.11λg. Measured results from the fabricated filter are in good agreement with simulated results. Better passband insertion losses are obtained as compared to most of the reported quint-band filters.
