1. Fractional Conformal Map, Qubit Dynamics and the Leggett-Garg Inequality

Abstract

Any pure state of a qubit can be geometrically represented as a point on the extended complex plane through stereographic projection. By employing successive conformal maps on the extended complex plane, we can generate an effective discrete-time evolution of the pure states of the qubit. This work focuses on a subset of analytic maps known as fractional linear conformal maps. We show that these maps serve as a unifying framework for a diverse range of quantum-inspired conceivable dynamics, including (i) unitary dynamics,(ii) non-unitary but linear dynamics and (iii) non-unitary and non-linear dynamics where linearity (non-linearity) refers to the action of the discrete time evolution operator on the Hilbert space. We provide a characterization of these maps in terms of Leggett-Garg Inequality complemented with No-signaling in Time (NSIT) and Arrow of Time (AoT) conditions., Comment: 9 pages, 1 figure

Abstract

Twisted 2D layered materials have garnered a lot of attention recently as a class of 2D materials whose interlayer interactions and electronic properties are dictated by the relative rotation / twist angle between the adjacent layers. In this work, we explore a prototype of such a twisted 2D system, artificially stacked twisted bilayer graphene (TBLG), where we probe the changes in the interlayer interactions and electron-phonon scattering pathways as the twist angle is varied from 0{\deg} to 30{\deg}, using Raman spectroscopy. The long range Moir\'e potential of the superlattice gives rise to additional intravalley and intervalley scattering of the electrons in TBLG which have been investigated through their Raman signatures. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the electronic band structure of the TBLG superlattices was found to be in agreement with the resonant Raman excitations across the van Hove singularities in the valence and conduction bands predicted for TBLG due to hybridization of bands from the two layers. We also observe that the relative rotation between the graphene layers has a marked influence on the second order overtone and combination Raman modes signalling a commensurate-incommensurate transition in TBLG as the twist angle increases. This serves as a convenient and rapid characterization tool to determine the degree of commensurability in TBLG systems.

15. Essential role of quantum speed limit in violation of Leggett-Garg inequality across a PT-transition

Abstract

We study Leggett-Garg inequality (LGI) of a two level system (TLS) undergoing non-Hermitian dynamics governed by a non-linear Bloch equation (derived in J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 54, 115301 (2021)) across a PT-transition. We present an algebraic identification of the parameter space for the maximum violation of LGI (in particular $K_{3}$). In the PT-symmetric regime the maximum allowed value for $K_{3}$ is always found to be greater than the quantum bound (L\"{u}ders bound) of $3/2$ but it does not reach the algebraic maximum of $K_{3}=3$ in general. However, in the limit where PT-symmetry breaking parameter approaches the exceptional point from the PT-symmetric side, $K_{3}$ is found to asymptotically approach its algebraic maximum of 3. In contrast, the maximum value of $K_{3}$ always reaches its algebraic maximum in the PT-broken phase $i.e.$ $K_{3}\rightarrow 3$. We find that (i) the speed of evolution (SOE) must reach its maximum value (in the parameter space of initial state and the time interval between successive measurements) to facilitate the value of $K_{3} \rightarrow 3$, (ii) together with the constraint that its minimum value must run into SOE equals to zero during the evolution of the state. In fact we show that the minimum speed of evolution can serve as an order parameter which is finite on the PT-symmetric side and identically zero on the PT-broken side. Finally, we discuss a possible experimental realization of this dynamics by quantum measurement followed by post-selection procedure in a three level atom coupled to cavity mode undergoing a Lindbladian dynamics., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Twisted 2D bilayers of van der Waals materials, a new class of quantum materials, offer pioneering advances in the field of nanoelectronics and photonics. As these layered materials can have various preferential stacking configurations with varying electronic behavior, it is important to have a characterization technique that can unambiguously probe the stacking order and interlayer interactions in 2D materials and twisted 2D homobilayers. In this work, we show that by using Raman spectroscopy, we can probe variations in the interlayer coupling of bilayer WSe 2 stacked at different twist angles. The interlayer interactions are weakest at a twist angle of 30 ° , and the twisted bilayer system is almost equivalent to two decoupled monolayers of WSe 2. Also we demonstrate Raman mapping as a quick imaging tool with capabilities of clear distinction between 2H and 3R polytypes of bilayer WSe 2 and can be used to study various kirigami structures and bilayer nucleation centers commonly observed during chemical vapor deposition-based growth of WSe 2. This work proves to be beneficial in the characterization of twisted bilayers of 2D materials and offer key insights into the optoelectronic properties of 2D materials and heterostructures. 44. Boosting Selective Nitrogen Oxidation to Nitric Acid by Synergizing Cobalt Phthalocyanine on Carbon Nitride Surface.

Abstract

The Ostwald process, which is producing HNO3 for commercial use, involves the catalytic oxidation of NH3 and a series of chemical reactions conducted under severe operating conditions. Due to their energy‐intensive nature, these activities play a major role in greenhouse gas emissions and global energy consumption. In response to the urgent requirements of the global energy and environmental sectors, there is an increasingly critical need to develop novel, highly efficient, and environmentally sustainable methods. Herein, CoPc/C3N4 electrocatalyst, integrating CoPc nanotubes with C3N4 nanosheets, is shown. The CoPc/C3N4 electrocatalyst demonstrates yield rate of 871.8 µmol h−1 gcat−1 at 2.2 V, with corresponding Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 46.4% at 2.1 V, which notably surpasses that of CoPc. Through a combination of experimental investigations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, this study shows that CoPc anchored on C3N4 effectively simplifies the adsorption and activation of chemically inactive nitrogen molecules. The improved catalytic activity for composite system may be the reason of re‐distribution of charges over the CoPc, tuning the valence orbital of Co center due to the presence of 2D layer of C3N4. This mechanism significantly lowers the energy barrier required for critical breaking of inert N2, ultimately leading to a significant improvement in N2 oxidation efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
