Abstract

Literature research, vital for scientific advancement, is overwhelmed by the vast ocean of available information. Addressing this, we propose an automated review generation method based on Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline literature processing and reduce cognitive load. In case study on propane dehydrogenation (PDH) catalysts, our method swiftly generated comprehensive reviews from 343 articles, averaging seconds per article per LLM account. Extended analysis of 1041 articles provided deep insights into catalysts' composition, structure, and performance. Recognizing LLMs' hallucinations, we employed a multi-layered quality control strategy, ensuring our method's reliability and effective hallucination mitigation. Expert verification confirms the accuracy and citation integrity of generated reviews, demonstrating LLM hallucination risks reduced to below 0.5% with over 95% confidence. Released Windows application enables one-click review generation, aiding researchers in tracking advancements and recommending literature. 42. DEM-CFD analysis of contact electrification and electrostatic interactions during powder handling processes

Abstract

Electrostatic phenomena are pervasive in powder handling processes. In this study, contact electrification and electrostatic interactions during powder handling processes are explored using the discrete element method coupled with computational fluid dynamics (DEM-CFD), in which contact electrification and electrostatic interaction models are developed and implemented. The effects of particle shape on contact electrification are also investigated, for which multi-sphere methods are adapted and implemented into the DEM-CFD. The electrostatic and dynamic behaviours in various powder handling processes are analyzed, which include contact electrification of spherical particles during fluidization; electrostatic interactions during deposition of mono-charged and bi-charged particles; contact electrification and electrostatic interactions of spherical particles during fluidization; contact electrification of elongated particles in a vibrating container and particles of arbitrary shapes in a rotating drum. It is found that charge accumulation and distribution of particles are caused by contact electrification and dispersion of mono-charged particles and agglomeration of bi-charged particles are induced by electrostatic interactions. The combined effects of contact electrification and electrostatic interactions can alter the dynamic behaviours of particles and the performance of powder handling processes. Non-uniform charge distributions can be induced on particles of irregular shapes and the charge accumulation is also affected by particle shapes.

50. Metastable gallium hydride mediates propane dehydrogenation on H2co-feeding

Abstract

In heterogeneous catalysis, the catalytic dehydrogenation reactions of hydrocarbons often exhibit a negative pressure dependence on hydrogen due to the competitive chemisorption of hydrocarbons and hydrogen. However, some catalysts show a positive pressure dependence for propane dehydrogenation, an important reaction for propylene production. Here we show that the positive activity dependence on H2partial pressure of gallium oxide-based catalysts arises from metastable hydride mediation. Through in situ spectroscopic, kinetic and computational analyses, we demonstrate that under reaction conditions with H2co-feeding, the dissociative adsorption of H2on a partially reduced gallium oxide surface produces H atoms chemically bonded to coordinatively unsaturated Ga atoms. These metastable gallium hydride species promote C–H bond activation while inhibiting deep dehydrogenation. We found that the surface coverage of gallium hydride determines the catalytic performance. Accordingly, benefiting from proper H2co-feeding, the alumina-supported, trace additive-modified gallium oxide catalyst GaOx–Ir–K/Al2O3exhibited high activity and selectivity at high propane concentrations.
