Objective To analyze the literature on artificial intelligence in forensic research from 2012 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection Database, to explore research hotspots and developmental trends. Methods A total of 736 articles on artificial intelligence in forensic medicine in the Web of Science Core Collection Database from 2012 to 2022 were visualized and analyzed through the literature measuring tool CiteSpace. The authors, institution, country （region）, title, journal, keywords, cited references and other information of relevant literatures were analyzed. Results A total of 736 articles published in 220 journals by 355 authors from 289 institutions in 69 countries （regions） were identified, with the number of articles published showing an increasing trend year by year. Among them, the United States had the highest number of publications and China ranked the second. Academy of Forensic Science had the highest number of publications among the institutions. Forensic Science International, Journal of Forensic Sciences, International Journal of Legal Medicine ranked high in publication and citation frequency. Through the analysis of keywords, it was found that the research hotspots of artificial intelligence in the forensic field mainly focused on the use of artificial intelligence technology for sex and age estimation, cause of death analysis, postmortem interval estimation, individual identification and so on. Conclusion It is necessary to pay attention to international and institutional cooperation and to strengthen the cross-disciplinary research. Exploring the combination of advanced artificial intelligence technologies with forensic research will be a hotspot and direction for future research.

For the observation of a picture, people may instinctly pay more attention to the eye-catching objects in the picture. Usually such objects tend to occupy a larger proportion in the picture, which leads to small targets being ignored. Because the area where the small target is located is often a weak detection area, and the features that can be extracted in the process of extracting features by the detector are few and are easily lost in the process of feature information transmission after the feature is extracted, the effect of small target detection is not good. Therefore, on the basis of the single-order detector, this paper adds a cross-channel interaction mechanism to ensure the integrity of the information between layers, adopts target enhancement of training samples and designs a general loss function. Apart from this, this paper improves the sample weighting on the basis of the loss function to predict weight of samples. The mAP of this paper framework UWN (unified weighted network) on the VOC public dataset is 81.2% and the mAP on the self-made small target aerial photography dataset is 82.3%. Compared with the FSSD algorithm, some speed is sacrificed, and the accuracy is greatly improved.

This study was aimed at developing a sensitive and selective HPLC method with postcolumn fluorescence derivatization for the detection of propylene glycol alginate sodium sulfate (PSS) in rat plasma. Plasma samples were prepared by a simple and fast ultrafiltration method. PSS was extracted from rat plasma with d-glucuronic acid as internal standard. Isocratic chromatographic separation was performed on a TSKgel G2500 PWxL column with the mobile phase of 0.1 M sodium sulfate at a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. Analyte detection was achieved by fluorescence detection (FLD) at 250 nm (excitation) and 435 nm (emission) using guanidine hydrochloride as postcolumn derivatizing reagent in an alkaline medium at 120 °C. The calibration curve was linear over a concentration range of 1–500 μg/mL, and the lower limit of detection (LLOD) was found to be 250 ng/mL. This validated method was applied successfully to the pharmacokinetic study of PSS and PSS-loaded poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles (PSS-NP) in rat plasma after a single intravenous (PSS only) and oral administration (PSS and PSS-NP). Significant differences in the main pharmacokinetic parameters of PSS and PSS-NP were observed. The relative bioavailability of PSS-NP was 190.10% compared with PSS which shows that PSS-NP can improve oral bioavailability.

The urine excretion of L-carnitine (LC), acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC) and propionyl-Lcarnitine (PLC) and their relations with the antioxidant activities are presently unknown. Liquid L-carnitine (2.0 g) was administered orally as a single dose in 12 healthy subjects. Urine concentrations of LC, ALC and PLC were detected by HPLC. Superoxide dismutase (SOD), total antioxidative capacity (T-AOC), malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitrogen monoxidum (NO) activities were measured by spectrophotometric methods. The 0~2 h, 2~4 h, 4~8 h, 8~12 h, 12~24 h excretion of LC was 53.13±31.36 µmol, 166.93±76.87 µmol, 219.92±76.30 µmol, 100.48±23.89 µmol, 72.07±25.77 µmol, respectively. The excretion of ALC was 29.70±14.43 µmol, 80.59±32.70 µmol, 109.85±49.21 µmol, 58.65±18.55 µmol, and 80.43±35.44 µmol, respectively. The urine concentration of PLC was 6.63±4.50 µmol, 15.33±12.59 µmol, 15.46±6.26 µmol, 13.41±11.66 µmol and 9.67±7.92 µmol, respectively. The accumulated excretion rate of LC was 6.1% within 24h after its administration. There was also an increase in urine concentrations of SOD and T-AOC, and a decrease in NO and MDA. A positive correlation was found between urine concentrations of LC and SOD (r = 0.8277) or T-AOC (r = 0.9547), and a negative correlation was found between urine LC excretions and NO (r = -0.8575) or MDA (r = 0.7085). In conclusion, a single oral LC administration let to a gradual increase in urine L-carnitine excretion which was associated with an increase in urine antioxidant enzymes and the total antioxidant capacities. These data may be useful in designing therapeutic regimens of LC or its analogues in the future.A excreção urinária de L-carnitina (LC), acetil-L-carnitina (ALC) e propionil-L-carnitine (PLC) e as suas relações com as atividades antioxidantes são presentemente desconhecidos. Em conclusão, a administração oral única de LC leva ao aumento gradual na excreção urinária de L-carnitina, que foi associada com o aumento das enzimas antioxidantes na urina e as capacidades antioxidantes totais. Estes dados podem ser úteis no futuro para o planejamento de esquemas terapêuticos de LC ou os seus análogos, no futuro.

(1) Background: Microwave ablation (MWA) is a common tumor ablation surgery. Because of the high temperature of the ablation antenna, it is strongly destructive to surrounding vital tissues, resulting in high professional requirements for clinicians. The method used to carry out temperature observation and damage prediction in MWA is significant; (2) Methods: This work employs numerical study to explore temperature distribution of typical tissues in MWA. Firstly, clinical MWA based on isolated biological tissue is implemented. Then, the Pennes models and microwave radiation physics are established based on experimental parameters and existing related research. Initial values and boundary conditions are adjusted to better meet the real clinical materials and experimental conditions. Finally, clinical MWA data test this model. On the premise that the model is matched with clinical MWA, fat and bone are deduced for further heat transfer analysis. (3) Results: Numerical study obtains the temperature distribution of biological tissue in MWA. It observes the heat transfer law of ablation antenna in biological tissue. Additionally, combined with temperature threshold, it generates thermal damage of biological tissues and predicts the possible risks in MWA; (4) Conclusions: This work proposes a numerical study of typical biological tissues. Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of thermal ablation for primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT).Materials and Methods: From January 2015 to March 2020, data pertaining to patients who received thermal ablation for pHPT at 4 centers were retrospectively analyzed. The median follow-up duration was 18.1months (IQR: 6.5-42.2 months). A cure referred to the reestablishment of normal values of serum calcium and intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) throughout the entire follow-up period, at least more than 6 months. The technical success, effectiveness, and safety of treatment were analyzed.Results: 119 patients (mean age, 57.2 ± 16.3 years; 81 female) with 134 parathyroid nodules were enrolled. The mean maximum diameter of the parathyroid glands was 1.6 ± 0.9 cm. Ninety-six patients underwent microwave ablation (MWA), and 23 patients underwent radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The technical success rate was 98.3% and the cure rate was 89.9%. Significant differences were found in the maximum diameter between the cured patients and the patients who did not undergo ablation of the target lesions. Except the cases with pHPT nodules<0.6cm in diameter, the cure rate was 95%. There were no difference in cure rates at 6 months between the MWA and RFA (MWA vs. RFA, 90.6% vs. 87.0%; χ2=0.275, p = 0.699). The volume reduction rate of the ablation zone was 94.6% at 12 months. The complication rate was 6.7% (8/119). Except one patient with persistent voice impairment, other symptoms were spontaneously resolved within six months.Conclusion: Thermal ablation was effective and safe for pHPT. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
