OBJECTIVE We aimed to test the association of polymorphisms in HTR2A, TPH1, and TPH2 genes with attempted suicide in rural China. PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS On the basis of a case-control study, we recruited 1200 pairs of participants from Shandong Province, China. The blood samples of 712 suicide attempters and 739 nonsuicide attempters were collected finally. We tested seven single nucleotide polymorphisms: rs6313 and rs6311 in HTR2A, rs4537731, rs1800532, and rs1799913 in TPH1, and rs4448731 and rs4641527 in TPH2. RESULTS In univariate analysis, allele C of rs4537731 was associated negatively with attempted suicide among total and male samples; however, the association was not statistically significant in multivariate analysis after adjusting for other potential confounding factors. No association between other six single nucleotide polymorphisms and attempted suicide was found in the total, male, or female samples. CONCLUSION This study did not support the effect of these seven serotonergic gene polymorphisms on attempted suicide in rural China.

Smart city is a product of the combination of digital city and Internet of Things and cloud computing. It has become a new trend of urban development in the world and faced new difficulties and challenges. In this paper, the concept of digital city and smart city was analyzed, the framework and core technology of smart city was summarized, and the status quo was analyzed. Finally the vision of smart city was put forward in our country based on existing problems and corresponding solutions at home and abroad.

Remotely data storage in cloud computing faces great challenge. Data possession checking ensures the data integrity and availability. In this paper, a cloud data possession checking model has been presented. Based on Paillier cryptosystem and elliptic curve cryptograph (ECC),we designed a data possession checking scheme, where the user asks the server to compute a checking value of randomly appointed data blocks, and then makes a decision by proof verification. The homomorphic verification tag (HVT) generated based on Paillier cryptosystem to achieve unlimited queried times. Extensive evaluation and analysis shows the proposed scheme is efficient and secure with the features: a high confidence level, un-forged HVTs, a small constant overhead, etc.

This paper presents a signal direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation approach that possesses excellent performance in spatial and temporal correlated signals environments. Firstly, an algebraic solution of the null subspace is derived based on the Vandermonde structured steering vectors of uniform linear array when all the sources possess identical nonzero mean value, and then, the DOA estimation is obtained with a polynomial rooting method. The novel algorithm performs much better than the conventional algorithms in the situation that the sources are closely spaced or correlated, and simulations have verified the validity of the algorithm.

Li2O-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2(LMAS) system glass-ceramics had been prepared by sintering method. The effect of different nucleating agents on the phase composition, microstructure and properties of LMAS system glass-ceramics were investigated by DTA, XRD and SEM. The results indicate that the introduction of nucleating agents could contribute to decreasing the crystallization temperature of the glass-ceramics, the effect of the nucleating agent TiO2 is most obvious, and the crystallization temperature is the lowest(798.9°C). Main crystal phase of the glass-ceramics without the nucleating agents is β-quartz solid solution, while main crystal phase of the glass-ceramics with different nucleating agents changes into β-spodumene solid solution. The glass-ceramics with composite nucleating agents (TiO2+ZrO2+P2O5) are the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion (0.86×10-6/°C)and the highest flexural strength (95MPa). Composite nucleating agents have the best effect of crystallization, and contribute to the formation of a large number of short columnar crystals, which is the main reason for obtaining glass-ceramics with low expansion coefficient and high flexural strength.

We investigate static configurations of a vacuumless scalar field as 'hair' on a black hole. The vacuumless field has run-away behaviour, meaning the scalar potential vanishes only at infinite field strength, and is also responsible for a cosmic acceleration horizon. The classic no-hair theorems do not prevent the existence of static configurations, in the form of a spherical domain wall, trapped between the two horizons. We study the properties of such configurations and show that, although the configurations are ultimately unstable, long-lived solutions are possible. We make a perturbation study to estimate the instability time scale, which can be as large as 6 × 107 times the black hole crossing time. We identify classes of observers who can never observe the scalar field become unstable, because they pass beyond the cosmological event horizon in a time interval shorter than the instability time scale.
