This article reports on the business strategy and a related advertisement campaign of Persistence Software in relation to the overused e letter on the Internet as of November 15, 1999. There is a backlash brewing against the overuse of the Internet's favorite letter, regularly lapped onto the most mundane of electronic ventures. It sells e-commerce software to such clients as Cisco and FedEx. The company's Web site is running a contest for most ridiculous e-words and pays homage to an obscure French novel that does not once use the letter e.
