Lessons learned from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the well-being of teachers reveal how school administrators can promote teacher stress adaptation and thriving, even in highly disruptive work environments. In a mixed-methods study within a single school district in Canada, consisting of a survey of 65 K-12 teachers and interviews with 10 administrators and teachers, the results showed the degree to which teachers were coping, had job satisfaction, and demonstrated thriving. Interviews yielded information on the limitations of the education system response and how school district administration could provide additional key resources that would strengthen individual stress coping and resiliency, create a culture of safety and community, and lay the foundations for teacher thriving, even in challenging and disruptive conditions

Investing in communication skills and practices is essential for driving organizational success and resilience in today’s fast-paced business environment.

The proliferation of social media has transformed how people engage in communication and community building, with platforms like Facebook becoming central to connecting individuals with shared interests. Despite the extensive formation of tourism-oriented online communities on these platforms, there is a notable lack of comprehensive studies examining their structural and managerial dynamics. This study addresses this gap by systematically analyzing fifty international tourism-focused Facebook communities to develop a novel typology based on the nature and type of information shared. The research identifies significant variations in community sizes, engagement levels, and management structures, highlighting that only 6% of these communities qualify as large, with membership exceeding one million. Contrary to common assumptions, a direct link between community size and engagement was not found, with qualitative factors like community purpose and content type being more influential. A notable correlation was observed between the number of administrators and moderators and the member count, emphasizing the importance of effective community governance. The study’s findings contribute to a deeper theoretical understanding of online community dynamics and offer practical implications for tourism marketers and community managers aiming to optimize engagement strategies on social media platforms. The research sets a foundation for future exploration of the interplay between virtual community management and tourism-related discourse.

The service environment, particularly the tourism sector, has become increasingly relevant in providing sustainable jobs across the globe. The resort environment consists of any combination of guest experience offerings such as accommodation, restaurants, events, and activities that operate mostly within one geographical environment. Furthermore, through an extensive literature review, it is found that the resort environment lacks practical quality improvement tools to enable continuous improvement (CI) within this remarkably complex and competitive space. This article aims to introduce a novel CI framework aimed at the resort environment to ensure a progressive competitive edge. This article illustrates a framework that builds a Total Productivity Management (TPMan) tool on these three dimensions as a foundation with an adapted quality methodology, which has been tried and tested within the manufacturing environment, providing eight pillars as CI components. The article illustrates the results by means of a case study where TPMan was applied over a period of 8 years within a local high-end resort in South Africa. The article concludes that TPMan is relevant to the resort environment as a practical CI tool.

This study aims to provide an understanding of the preferences of student tourists regarding service attributes related to domestic accommodation. To clarify how lodging firms formulate policies for the student travel market, a “Relative to an Identified Distribution” (RIDIT) analysis in which responses are treated as ordinal data instead of equally spaced data is performed to examine the Likert-scale data obtained from 296 university students in Taiwan. In our RIDIT analytical results, respondents’ preferences are sorted in descending importance. Of the examined attributes, “Cleanliness of rooms” is the attribute most prioritized by the students, followed by “Located in a safe neighborhood/feeling safe in the room” and “Close to scenic area for meeting the trip requirement”. The attribute least prioritized by the students is “Interaction with other guests”. This analysis provides conclusions that differ from those obtained through commonly used techniques including the arithmetic average and exploratory factor analysis. The preference rankings indicate that managers should focus on the most prioritized service attributes and implement the necessary measures to enhance their service quality and maximize customer satisfaction.

When analyzing occupational safety factors, a human factor is associated with 80–90% of incidents and accidents that occur. Controlling this factor is essential when it comes to creating healthy and safe organizations. Personality traits have shown great relevance when understanding the behavior of safety or self-protection in the workplace, affecting the motivation of subjects and, therefore, their behavior. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of the extraversion trait on compliance with safety rules and behaviors, while evaluating the mediating effect of motivation for safety in health professionals. The sample is composed of 183 nurses and wardens of a hospital in Spain. The obtained results confirm the hypotheses raised, validating the negative influences of extraversion on motivation for security and compliance with norms, behaviors, and security, while verifying the effect of the total mediation of motivation for security in the influence of extraversion on security compliance. This confirms the effect of this personality trait on employees’ safety behaviors, and the possibility of reducing this influence by controlling personal motivations with interventions from the organization.

The concept of the ‘glass ceiling’ represents the significant barriers that women face in climbing the corporate hierarchy, but recently, the focus has shifted to the ‘broken bottom rung’, where women are bypassed for initial leadership roles. This paper investigates the impact of gender on performance evaluations, particularly female-to-female peer ratings, which are critical to career progression. Our study tested three hypotheses about the disparity in female allyship within professional contexts. Participants (N = 160) from psychology classes in 2018–2019 evaluated their peers in project teams using five ITPMetrics measures. Contrary to previous research suggesting that women receive more critical evaluations than men, this study found no evidence supporting such bias. However, it revealed that women scored higher in process-based skills rather than outcome-based skills, aligning with role congruity theory and the notion of gendered skills. These findings highlight the need for further research into female peer evaluations and their impact on career advancement. This study challenges assumptions about women’s roles in the workplace and advocates for organizations reconsidering the emphasis placed on performance appraisals, proposing alternative assessment methods to foster more equitable and inclusive professional environments.

The purpose of this article is to investigate the factors that influence the authenticity of heritage hotels in popular tourist destinations. Using the Greek island of Santorini as a case study, the following three (3) factors, which have not been systematically studied so far, are examined and appear to have a significant impact on authenticity in the conversion of a heritage architectural building into a heritage hotel: (a) its structural characteristics, (b) the influence of the star classification system and (c) the extent to which each business promotes authenticity elements and heritage identity. For the purposes of this study, a threefold methodological approach was conducted, which includes archival research in the registry of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels for all the heritage hotels in Santorini (69 units), research in the accounting data of the island’s heritage hotels certified with the national star ranking system for their services and amenities and research analysis of the information regarding the promotion of the heritage hotels through their official websites. Additionally, a cartographic representation of the locations of these hotels was created and their positioning was compared to the boundaries of traditional or non-traditional settlements. The results validated the basic finding of the literature review, that the authenticity of a heritage hotel is a construction under constant negotiation, influenced by a multitude of factors. The conversion of a historic building into a heritage hotel is a multidimensional process that requires a delicate balance between preserving cultural value and adapting to the needs of modern tourism, as well as a continuous evaluation and review of the policies in place.

During COVID-19, the Norwegian Government provided compensation to amend firms’ decreased revenues, yet it should be neutral and tailored to losses only. However, firm resources or institutional factors may have influenced the compensation, which we study here. Survey data showed a high probability of compensation among large firms, although they were not hit particularly hard by COVID-19. Also, compensation was prevalent for firms in the hospitality, tourism, and culture industry, and a likely explanation is that they were hit hard. However, their probability of compensation was prevalent compared to firms in other industries, regardless of revenue losses. We assume that large firms’ compensation was due to their resources to apply for funding successfully, while institutional factors explained the compensation for firms in the hospitality, tourism, and culture industry.

Cognitive-experiential self-theory is a unique model for exploring restaurant patrons’ decision making. Fear and its impact on diners’ decision making, particularly related to specific dining contexts (dine-in, takeout, and delivery), are limited in their representation in the literature. The COVID-19 pandemic provided an instance where a single fear could be explored universally for dining patrons. This study explores how fear influences diners’ perception of risk, antipathy, and avoidance toward restaurant dining and how these factors impact their intention to dine in a restaurant. Furthermore, it investigates how those constructs influence diner decision making regarding the selection of one of the identified dining contexts. Online survey data (n = 1225) of diners were analyzed using SEM. The research finds that fear impacts dining contexts differentially. Additionally, environmental control is identified as a valuable tool in the mitigation of diners’ fear. The pandemic had devastating impacts on the restaurant industry, partly due to the lack of research into fear, particularly in dining contexts. This research helps to fill the important research gap through the findings and theoretical and managerial implications provided.

The importance of service quality and a positive reputation, individually leading to enhanced performance of hospitality organizations, is undisputed. However, little is known about their interplay and how they collectively explain the variability in performance. The purpose of this article is to contribute to the understanding of the individual and collective impact of service quality and reputation on variability in performance, categorized as customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study was conducted using quantitative research methods with data derived from hotel guests in Iceland in the summer of 2023. We gathered 1487 valid answers from guests staying at any of the 9 selected hotels, all belonging to the same Icelandic chain. The factor analysis revealed a credible four-factor model that consists of tangible service, performed service, reputation, and performance. All three independent factors had a statistically positive connection with variabilities in performance, and the collective explanation ratio for the model was strong. The independent factors were correlated to a satisfactory level, and tangible service had the strongest unique connection to performance.

The aims of this study are to analyze the tourism and air-transport industries in Africa and determine how African governments could improve the safety of tourists and local communities in this region to improve resident quality of life and tourism demand. Indeed, this study tries to improve African people’s lives through the tourism and travel sectors so that they can thrive in terms of their quality of life and happiness. The findings of the current study reveal that Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, and Tunisia are the most visited countries by international tourists; in fact, these four countries are the ones that generated the most income from international tourism in the period analyzed. Moreover, the results suggest that the tourism and air-transport industries in Africa could improve national economies, infrastructure, and resident quality of life thanks to international tourism receipts and increasing security levels around travel and tourism activities. Obviously, the tourism industry cannot be developed when there is constant insecurity, terrorism, and perpetual armed conflicts, as is the case in Nigeria, Somalia, DR Congo, Libya, Mali, and Cameroon, among many others. Security is the most important factor for a tourist destination because the safety and security of residents and tourists are the primary factors affecting tourism growth. The novelty of this research resides in its willingness to improve African people’s quality of life through air-transport and tourism activities, providing security guarantees for tourist and resident safety. This manuscript also contributes to enhancing and bootstrapping the literature on security in the travel and tourism sectors industry, particularly in Africa, where security is a priority more than a necessity.

This study examines residents’ perceptions of tourism development in Riyadh city, Saudi Arabia, focusing on its benefits and costs, guided by social exchange theory. The objective is to explore how the perceived impacts of tourism development, along with external factors such as community attachment, residents’ knowledge of tourism development, and community involvement, affect locals’ satisfaction with tourism and their intention to support tourism development. A survey of 427 locals, analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM), reveals a positive correlation between community attachment and the perceived benefits from tourism. Residents’ knowledge about tourism is linked to perceived benefits, but not to perceived costs, and community involvement does not significantly impact perceptions. Perceived benefits positively influence support for tourism, while perceived costs have a negative effect. Residents’ satisfaction with tourism, shaped by their perceptions of the benefits and costs, influences their future support for tourism initiatives. The theoretical implications highlight social exchange theory’s role in understanding community perceptions, while the practical implications emphasize inclusive and transparent tourism planning to gain local support. These results underscore the importance of considering locals’ perceptions and satisfaction in both current and future tourism planning and development strategies.

ABSTRAK Industri ritel kini menghadapi tantangan besar di era modernisasi yang didorong oleh perkembangan teknologi digital. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh kualitas pelayanan terhadap keputusan pembelian di Indomaret Garut menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan asosiatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 92 konsumen member yang dipilih melalui Simple Random Sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis dengan IBM SPSS 25 for Windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hubungan kuat antara kualitas pelayanan dan keputusan pembelian dengan koefisien korelasi 0,728. Analisis koefisien determinasi mengungkap bahwa kualitas pelayanan berkontribusi sebesar 53% terhadap keputusan pembelian, sementara 47% dipengaruhi faktor lain seperti harga, fasilitas, dan kualitas produk. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan kualitas pelayanan memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian, dengan thitung 10,078 yang lebih besar dari ttabel 2,925 dan signifikansi 0,000. Penelitian ini mendukung studi sebelumnya yang menekankan pentingnya kualitas pelayanan dalam keputusan pembelian konsumen. Implikasi praktis meliputi investasi dalam pelatihan karyawan, pemanfaatan teknologi, penelitian berkala, peningkatan program loyalitas, serta kolaborasi dengan pemasok. Strategi-strategi ini dapat meningkatkan kepuasan konsumen dan memastikan pertumbuhan berkelanjutan di masa depan, memberikan wawasan penting bagi manajemen untuk meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan. This research analyzes the influence of service quality on purchasing decisions at Indomaret Garut using a quantitative approach with descriptive and associative methods. The research sample consisted of 92 consumer members selected through Simple Random Sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using IBM SPSS 25 for Windows. The research results show a strong relationship between service quality and purchasing decisions with a correlation coefficient of 0.728. Analysis of the coefficient of determination reveals that service quality contributes 53% to purchasing decisions, while 47% is influenced by other factors such as price, facilities and product quality. Hypothesis testing shows that service quality has a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions, with a tcount of 10.078 which is greater than a ttable of 2.925 and a significance of 0.000. This research supports previous studies which emphasize the importance of service quality in consumer purchasing decisions. Practical implications include investment in employee training, use of technology, regular research, improved loyalty programs, and collaboration with suppliers. These strategies can increase consumer satisfaction and ensure sustainable growth in the future, providing important insights for management to improve service quality. ABSTRACT This study investigates the dynamics of financial resilience among customers of Bank Syariah Indonesia, focusing on the roles of financial planning, saving behavior, and financial literacy. Using a quantitative approach with a sample of 80 bank customers selected via random sampling, the research employs SmartPLS for path analysis to assess direct and indirect effects. Findings reveal that financial planning significantly enhances both financial literacy and financial resilience, underscoring its pivotal role in promoting financial stability. However, saving behavior shows a non-significant direct impact on financial literacy and a marginally significant effect on financial resilience. Importantly, financial literacy mediates the relationship between financial planning and financial resilience, emphasizing its critical influence on customers' financial resilience. These results highlight the importance of tailored financial education initiatives and strategic planning interventions in enhancing financial literacy and resilience within Islamic banking contexts.

Innovation is crucial for achieving and maintaining a competitive edge, especially evident in the digital business landscape, where the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions are occurring concurrently. Leadership behavior significantly influences the direction of organizations toward innovation. This study investigated whether a propensity for risk taking, along with a commitment to diversity and agility, promotes or impedes leaders’ innovative behavior. Fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis was employed to assess the data gathered from an online survey of 119 global leaders. The results exposed four distinct routes to fostering innovative behavior and three paths leading to noninnovative behavior that should be evaded. All conditions play a vital role in triggering innovative behavior. Conversely, the lack of these conditions can result in noninnovative leadership. This study’s novelty rests on the empirical evidence it provides about the paths guiding leaders toward innovative behavior and avoiding the danger of noninnovative leadership. These findings can assist managers and HR departments in pursuing certain paths for hiring and training managers to boost innovative behavior and preclude paths leading to noninnovative conduct.

Background: Law professionals are understudied, and little is known about their mental health. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the relationship between the amount of physical activity and depressive symptoms. Methods: A sample of 681 law professionals completed a survey that assessed mental health conditions and activities to promote well-being. Crude and adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated for the relationship between the number of days of an hour or more of physical activity and two levels of depression from the patient health questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Results: Law professionals were found to have significantly more depressive symptoms, mild or worse and moderate or worse, when reporting 0 days of physical activity when compared to 7 days, with OR of 6.07 (95% CI 2.55–14.48) and 8.64 (95% CI 1.97–37.82) and adjusted ORs of 3.91 (95% CI 1.58–9.68) and 6.32 (95% CI 1.4–28.33), respectively. A dose response was also noted. Conclusions: There was a statistically significant relationship found between amounts of physical activity and depressive symptoms in law professionals. We recommend future research be conducted to better understand this relationship.

This study examines the nature of brand associations that air travellers form with airports and which associations are important when choosing between airports. Using semi-structured qualitative interviews, this study collected information about 240 participants’ most recent trips using air travel, encompassing 642 airport visits and 88 airports worldwide. The associations that participants made with the airports they travelled through were collected, as well as the sorts of associations that are important for choosing between airports and why those associations are important. The data were analysed using thematic analysis, revealing 13 themes each for airport brand associations and important associations for choosing between airports and 14 themes for reasons why those associations were important. Single-sample t-tests reveal that each of these themes has a different effect size in terms of its effect on airport brand association formation and its effect on attitudinal brand choice. This study contributes to the air transport and tourism literature by providing a detailed account of which associations air travellers form with airports and which are used for choosing between airports by contextualising these findings by viewing airports as compound brands. Managerial implications are also provided along with avenues for future research.

The support of local stakeholders is crucial for the sustainable tourism management of nature-based destinations (NBDs). Local people near NBDs may have more interaction with wildlife; however, research on local people’s attitudes towards wildlife is surprisingly limited. To explore their liking and willingness to coexist with different wild animals, and the associated influencing factors, we conducted a survey of residents living near Tanjung Piai National Park (TPNP), Johor, Malaysia. Most of the residents had experienced numerous direct encounters with bats and snakes inside TPNP, as well as with wild boar and macaque monkeys outside of the park. The local people showed a high level of liking for animals but a relatively low level of willingness to coexist with them. The results of the statistical models suggest that the liking of animals is significantly influenced by childhood nature experiences and sociodemographic characteristics including sex, education, and the presence of children. Education was an effective factor shaping the preferences of favorable, fairly favorable, and unfavorable animal groups. On the other hand, willingness to coexist with animals was significantly influenced by childhood nature experiences, age, and sex. Age was an effective factor shaping willingness to coexist with favorable, fairly favorable, and unfavorable animal groups; specifically, elderly people showed a low level of willingness to coexist with animals compared to young people. Therefore, we conclude that in addition to providing educational programs for shaping preferences regarding wildlife, careful support and considerable efforts aimed at elderly people are essential to increasing residents’ willingness to coexist with animals to obtain wider support for NBD management.

American college towns tend to be very economically dependent on the college they host. If enrollment is high, the town thrives. However, when enrollment is low, the town faces socio-economic difficulties, including increased unemployment and struggling businesses. Furthermore, the seasonal presence of students poses an additional challenge. This study investigates tourism as a potential solution to diversify college towns’ sources of revenue based on community willingness and town assets. Data were collected via interviews with 50 community members from three different groups within the town. While environmental tourism shows great potential for community self-development, the Calgary model of competitiveness highlights the need for significant efforts to establish the required support systems.

COVID-19 was a defining moment of the 21st century, causing major disruptions to tourism and global mobility. Travel patterns have changed significantly, influencing people’s perception of travel. This study aims to explore how COVID-19 affected the travel intentions of the Portuguese. The research is based on a questionnaire administered to 762 individuals, using structural equation modeling with partial least squares. In general, individuals have a reasonable perception of fear of the consequences of COVID-19, risk, and travel behavior and do not appear to have anxiety or fear of traveling. As for their intention to travel, they seem to have intentions. The results of this analysis demonstrate that fear of traveling, and travel behavior directly influence travel intentions and, indirectly, through fear of the consequences of COVID-19, anxiety, fear of traveling, and perceived travel risk. This study is particularly relevant for entities that manage and monitor the travel intentions of their clients and consumers, especially in the travel and tourism sector. It aims to more effectively meet the needs and desires of travelers, in addition to formulating strategies that promote the recovery of tourism in the post-pandemic period. The added value of research lies in its potential to guide strategic decision-making and policy formulation.

Drama is a wine region in northern Greece with a local economy based on agricultural production. Despite its historical and geographical setting, the wine tourism industry is not very well developed in the wine-growing region of Drama. Although the sustainability of territorial development is often linked to local food and wine heritage, it seems that the implicated parties are not totally convinced. For this qualitative case study, we first conducted interviews with the management of the local wineries to determine the reason behind the low number of wine tourists in the area. Then, a workshop was organized, and all relevant parties were invited to increase awareness through education while also attempting to find mutually agreeable solutions through working group table discussions and the presentation of findings. Taking advantage of and preserving the cultural heritage through the cooperation of the related regional businesses, regional/central authorities, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) was concluded to be an important tool for organizing new initiatives that will boost wine tourism.

This study explores the drivers and barriers of the Circular Economy (CE) in Tunis Village, a rural tourism destination, as a case study of emerging economics. We adopted an exploratory case study methodology. Telephone interviews (n = 10) with stakeholders were conducted, and a survey of employees (n = 123) was distributed. Qualitative data were thematically analyzed, and quantitative data were descriptively presented. The results show that improving relationships with the local community, gaining financial benefits, and improving relationships with suppliers were the top perceived drivers. The top perceived barriers are poor economic development, which makes the implementation of large-scale sustainability difficult; a lack of technology and advanced technologies; and the absence of effective and integrated waste management and recycling systems. Considering the exploratory nature and design of this study, the results cannot be generalized. However, the results can help plan future research on a larger scale in developing economies. Furthermore, the findings can inform policymakers on how to better apply CE practices in rural tourism destinations. The topic of CE has been under-researched in connection with developed countries, and this study is the first to examine CE in rural tourism destinations in emerging countries. This underlines the specific drivers and barriers related to CE as a sustainable development practice. Additionally, it contributes to the academic debate on this notion.

Objective: This study aims to examine whether there is a potential Day-of-the-Week-Effect and Month-of-the-Year-Effect on carbon emissions trading. Research Design & Methods: This research uses secondary data obtained through the Investing.com website. The carbon market data used is daily closing data, then the daily effect test is carried out, and monthly closing data to determine the monthly effect. Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) (2,1) and (3,1) method used to analyse the data. Findings: The correlogram and GARCH (2,1) and GARCH (3,1) test results show that the carbon market does not move randomly, but there are Day-of-the-Week-Effect and Month-of-the-Year-Effect phenomena. From this study, it was also found that on Wednesday in April, there was a significant increase in returns. So, it can also be concluded that the carbon market is not efficient. Implications and Recommendations: There are opportunities that can be taken from carbon trading which turns out to have a Day-of-the-Week-Effect and Month-of-the-Year-Effect so that investors who want to join carbon trading can more easily learn about it to get maximum profit in the carbon market. Contribution & Value Added: It is hoped that the results of this study can prove whether or not there is an influence on seasonal patterns so that it can be useful for speculators and business people related to carbon trading to design the right strategy in the carbon emissions market.

Objective: Shopping well-being has continued to be a fundamental construct in retail shopping research. However, marketers seek to understand the factors that enhance shopping well-being for online consumers in the fast-growing era of e-commerce. This study sought to investigate the impact of shopping values (hedonic and utilitarian) and e-satisfaction on shopping well-being within the South African context. Research Design & Methods: The study used a cross-sectional quantitative research design. Using convenience sampling, online survey questionnaires were administered to collect the data from South African consumers who engage in online shopping. Descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the data. Findings: The findings of the study indicated hedonic shopping values had a positive impact on shopping well-being. On the other hand, it was found that utilitarian shopping values and e-satisfaction had no positive impact on shopping wellbeing. Implications and Recommendations: From these findings, web-based shopping managers can construct online shopping environments that support hedonic shopping values in order to ensure that consumers shopping online experience shopping wellbeing. Contribution & Value Added: The study adds value to marketing practitioners and businesses that seek to ensure that consumers engaging in online shopping experience satisfaction and wellbeing within the growing e-commerce industry in South Africa and other emerging economies.

Objective: The performance of village-owned enterprises is examined in this study along with the key components of the entrepreneurial marketing idea. The degree to which current marketing techniques align with entrepreneurial marketing strategies is also evaluated. Research Design & Methods: This study uses a qualitative research design and semi-structured in-depth interviews with 12 directors of chosen village-owned enterprises. The interviews were based on seven components of the entrepreneurial marketing concept: financial performance and non-financial performance. The ATLAS.ti program was used to facilitate the thematic analysis of the gathered data. Findings: The research conclusions demonstrate that village-owned enterprises have been successful in incorporating entrepreneurial marketing ideas, which are crucial to their operations. Contribution & Value Added: The main contribution behind this study is the lack of empirical research on entrepreneurial marketing from the perspective of village-owned enterprises.

Objective: This study explores the symbolic aspects of brand representation and how it aligns with the entrepreneurial spirit via the lens of semiotics. Research Design & Methods: The study utilized semiotic analysis through codes represented in trademarks by painstaking examination, illuminating the complex interactions of visual components, language, and the entrepreneurial identity. Findings: The results highlight how important language and visual choices are when creating an engaging brand narrative for entrepreneurs. A semiotic understanding of branding becomes an invaluable tool for honest expression and audience engagement as entrepreneurs maneuver the competitive landscape. Implications and Recommendations: The results hold the potential to shed light on how brands function as means of articulating and encapsulating entrepreneurial identity, impacting customer attitudes and the prosperity of organizations. Contribution & Value Added: It is critical to comprehend the complex relationship between brands and entrepreneurial identity in the ever-changing world of entrepreneurial ventures.

Objective: Delays in business management make it difficult for the continued development of MSMEs. This study aims are analyzes financial literacy, entrepreneurial characteristics, and financial inclusion in business performance in processing industry SMEs in Jepara Regency. Research Design & Methods: The data used were obtained from interviews using a questionnaire. The number of samples used was 100 MSME actors selected by the Non-Probability Sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression analysis methods. Findings: The results showed that financial literacy had a positive and significant effect on business performance, entrepreneurial characteristics had a positive and significant effect on business performance, financial inclusion had a positive and significant effect on business performance, and simultaneously, financial literacy, entrepreneurial characteristics, and financial inclusion had an effect on business performance. Implications and Recommendations: This research implies that the level of financial literacy will affect the making of important decisions in managing business finances, so MSME actors need to increase their financial literacy. The characteristics of a good entrepreneur owned by someone will have a positive orientation toward business performance. Good financial inclusion means that it is easy to use financial services so that they can help overcome problems in their business.

Objective: Corporate fraud has consistently been a subject of interest and remains an engaging topic of discussion. This paper aims to provide an understanding of the determining factors of corporate financial fraud and offer recommendations for potential variables that can be further analyzed. Research Design & Methods: This paper reviews empirical studies from the last 10 years (2013-2023) published in the ScienceDirect.com database. A total of 31 papers were analyzed. Findings: 132 determining factors were identified as influencing corporate financial fraud. The most frequently investigated factors are financial ratios. Meanwhile, recent studies have increasingly linked financial fraud to board characteristics and external corporate factors. Overall, corporate financial fraud is driven by two key sources: internal and external factors, encompassing a variety of aspects such as economic, social, and political influences. Contribution & Value Added: This paper provides valuable insights for developing an effective fraud prevention and detection model for corporations.

The main process carried out by the retail industry is distribution. The distribution flow starts from receiving goods from suppliers by the receiving division, the picking process carried out by the warehouse division, sending goods to retailers carried out by the distribution and delivery division, as well as receiving returned/returned goods (unsold goods) from retailers by the returns division. The problem faced by the retail industry is the high value of returned products identified as inventory. From the results of problem identification using the six sigma method, it was found that the cause of the high inventory of returned products was the late arrival of returned goods from retailers. In general, returned goods can be returned to the supplier/manufacturer if the maximum expiration date is 3 months. If the expiration date is less than 3 months, the item cannot be returned/replaced with a new product. Delays are caused by the system for checking returned goods that are nearing their expiry date, which is still done manually, so there is no system that can warn retail employees to immediately return the returned goods. This problem can be avoided if there is a product identification system that will expire. This identification system is called an early warning system. Early signal system design uses the Structured Analyzed and Design Technique (SADT) design method. The operating system chosen is Android base. The use of the Android base was chosen because it is more effective and efficient for use in retail branches or retail industry outlets. The process of creating this early signal system uses a MySQL database. The application creation process uses PHP and Android Studio. With an early signal system, delays in returning goods by retailers can be minimized.

This study aims to explain the factors that influence the decline in return on assets and the economic benefits obtained by cooperative members. This research was conducted with the object of the trading business unit of Sumber Tani Mandiri Agricultural Cooperative. In this study, the method used is a case study by collecting data and direct observation on the object of research and then analyzing it in depth. The measuring instrument to determine the factors that influence the decline in return on assets uses net profit margin and total asset turnover. Meanwhile, direct economic benefits are measured by comparing prices in cooperatives and non-cooperatives. In addition, the economic benefit of direct members is analyzed by distributing questionnaires to cooperative members as respondents. Then, for indirect economic benefit, it was measured by calculating the remaining operating results of the members' share. The results showed that the turnover of total assets from 2018 to 2022, so that the turnover of total assets can be said to be effective because the turnover is getting faster. However, when viewed from the development of net profit margin, it is considered inefficient because the amount of net profit margin generated tends to decrease due to increased expenses or costs incurred. The amount of net profit margin generated in 2018 to 2022. Thus, the factors that influence the decrease in return on assets are due to expenses or costs that have increased more than revenue from sales. The direct economic benefits in the form of price benefits offered by cooperatives are cheaper than the prices offered by non-cooperatives. However, for indirect economic benefits in the form of the remaining results of operations has decreased from the previous year.

Transnsforming cooperative values by education institutions in Indonesia would encourage their graduates become the agents of exchange of social and economic lives. Qualitatively cooperative development is still beyond expectation therefore some youths have negative cooperative image. The research purpose was to gain the impacts of cooperative education applying phenomenology method and the informants were alumni of Indonesia Institute of Cooperative Management. The results show that their involvement in cooperative due to its uniqueness, an ideal system, and benefits for members and communities. As a life catalist, cooperative enables people to gain economic benefits, develop thinking paradigm and personality, broader networkings as well. Nevertheless cooperative image is still perceived negatively such as unprosfessional management, single business unit, profit oriented, Syariah contra, and political issues. Some efforts are rebranding cooperative by changing mindset through education and training of cooperative and entrepreneurship, implementing cooperative values and principles, involving youth; hiring professional manager, encouraging members in investment, activating stakeholders; and publishing positive information.

This research aims to find out how risk management is implemented by the KSU Cultivation Savings and Loans Unit to minimize the increasing loan risk, as well as to prove that there is a relationship between Loan Risk and Return On Equity (ROE) at the KSU Cultivating Savings and Loans Unit. The types of data used in research are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and literature study. The KSU Budidaya Savings and Loans Unit has implemented a risk management process including identifying risks, measuring risks and managing risks. And also in the strategy for handling credit risk in the Savings and Loans Unit, the cooperative has implemented the 5C principle (Character, Capacity, Capital, Condition and Collateral) in providing loans. From the results of the relationship between Loan Risk (X) and Return On Equity (ROE) (Y), it is known that r = 0.41, which means that credit risk and ROE have a fairly strong or fairly close relationship. Thus, it can be said that if loan risk increases, the ROE level will decrease, and conversely, if loan risk decreases, this will be followed by an increase in the ROE level.

This study aims to find out how the effect of the number of members, own capital and business volume on the remaining results of operations in cooperative groups based on districts/cities in West Java Province either partially or simultaneously. The research method used is descriptive analysis and verification analysis. The population in this study is cooperative groups based on districts/cities in West Java Province which are listed on the West Java Provincial Government Website for the 2017-2021 period. The sample in this study used a saturated sampling technique so that sample data were obtained from 27 districts and cities consisting of 18 districts and 9 cities with a total sample data of 135. The results of this study partially show that the number of members has no significant effect on the remaining business results. Own capital and business volume have a significant effect on the remaining operating results. Meanwhile, it simultaneously shows that the number of members, own capital and business volume have a significant effect on the remaining business results.

This study was conducted to observe the effect of work quality and work environment on employee performance moderated by work relationship strategies. The research method uses a quantitative approach using Smart-PLS 3 as a data processor and the object under study is company employees as many as 150 samples. Existing data is evaluated using relevant statistical analysis. The results of the study state if work quality, and work environment have an impact on employee performance moderated by the employment relationship strategy. The study results show that Work Quality has a significant effect on Employee Performance, Work Environment has no significant effect on Employee Performance, Work Relationship Strategy moderates the effect of Work Quality on Employee Performance, Work Relationship Strategy does not moderate the effect of Work Environment on Employee Performance, and Work Relationship Strategy has a significant effect on Employee Performance. Thus, it can be concluded that employee performance is not significantly influenced by the work environment and that the Work Relationship Strategy does not reduce how the workplace affects workers' performance. So companies can consider their work environment by providing a comfortable work environment

Cooperatives are an opportunity for economic actors to continue to develop with business activities carried out in groups to achieve common goals among fellow cooperative members, so strategic planning in the form of a design for a Government Program, especially in the Cooperative Sector, is a form of consideration and input for developing a resource. The resources owned by cooperatives in Bandung City by providing digital trade, from the Cooperative Business Network Economic System Program, abbreviated as SEJUK, with the aim of creating business cooperation between cooperatives in Bandung City. Information collection and management carried out in the form of interviews, literature studies, design carried out using quantitative research methods, marketing information system design based on Unified Modeling Leangues (UML) and supply chain planning based on Value Stream Mapping (VSM). From the design results, it is clear that supply chain network design and marketing information systems are connected in managing cooperatives to carry out goods procurement and business promotion activities by utilizing marketing information systems to provide digital trade channels for cooperatives participating in the SEJUK Program. so that the impact given by participating in the SEJUK Program needs to be improved and enhanced in the future in providing a forum for cooperatives to carry out business collaboration through the SEJUK Program

Live streaming has become the latest strategy in marketing products as it provides consumers with a sense of experiencing direct shopping. In live streaming, sellers and buyers can interact directly through real-time video streaming. Marketing strategies involving third-party individuals, known as affiliate marketing, are engaged in marketing activities. Several e-commerce platforms utilize this approach as it brings benefits to all parties involved. Live streaming has become a popular promotional method, especially after the pandemic. Flash sales, with their attractive offers, are highly favored by consumers as they allow them to purchase high-quality products or services at significantly low prices, but within specific time and quantity constraints. The author is interested in understanding the most influential marketing strategies that impact consumer Purchase Intention in e-commerce, particularly on new platforms like TikTok Shop. The research method employed is descriptive statistics based on the results of statistical calculations using SEM-PLS, with primary data obtained from 96 respondents through a questionnaire.

The aim of this research is to see how the localization strategy for street vendors in Pamekasan district can improve the regional economy. This is not without reason because street vendors are a form of business in the informal sector whose existence has a significant impact on the regional economy and there are efforts from the regional government itself to encourage the informal sector by achieving quite large numbers during its term of office so that this to be sustainable and synergistic. This is certainly not easy considering that there are still many problems that need to be resolved so as to provide mutually beneficial joint solutions. This research is felt urgent to be implemented considering that there is still a lot of "homework" that must be completed. The research object is the street vendor association in Pamekasan district. Qualitative descriptive method used in this research. The sampling technique for street vendors in each community uses techniques purposive sampling. The results of research regarding the localization strategy carried out by the Pamekasan district government were that a special area for street vendors (zoning model) was formed which was spread across several points including: 1. The "Sae Salera" area; 2. The "Sae Rassah" area and 3. The "Food Colony" area. It is hoped that these three areas will become one of the solutions and part of the strategy carried out by the Pamekasan district regional government.

This research aims to analyses the influence of Team Member Exchange (TMX) and Competency on the Work Productivity of PT Techmicron Batam City with Job Satisfaction as an intervening variable. Data was collected from 100 employees of PT Techmicron Batam City using a questionnaire. The data analysis techniques used are multiple linear regression and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The research results show that Team Member Exchange (TMX) has a positive but not significant effect on Employee Work Productivity, Team Member Exchange (TMX) has a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction, Competency has a positive and significant effect on Employee Work Productivity, Competency has a positive and significant effect on Employee Job Satisfaction, Job Satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on the Work Productivity of PT Techmicron Batam City Employees. The implications of this research are the importance of compensation in building job satisfaction so that it can increase employee work productivity, as well as the importance of building Team Member Exchange (TMX) relationships in increasing employee job satisfaction.

This study investigates the dynamics of financial competence among customers and employees of Bank BNI, focusing on the roles of mindset, saving behavior, and financial knowledge. Using a quantitative research design with a sample size of 100 participants selected through random sampling, data were analyzed using Smart PLS for path analysis. The findings reveal significant direct relationships: mindset positively influences both financial knowledge (FK) and financial competence (FC), while saving behavior directly enhances FC. Additionally, indirect effects show that both mindset and saving behavior contribute to FC through their positive impacts on FK. These results highlight the critical importance of psychological factors and proactive financial behaviors in shaping individuals' financial capabilities. For Bank BNI, promoting a positive financial mindset and supporting disciplined saving practices could effectively enhance financial literacy and decision-making among stakeholders. Future research could explore additional variables and interventions to further refine strategies for fostering financial competence across diverse demographic groups.

The existence of cooperatives as the center of economic activity for most Indonesians has begun to be displaced by competitors such as more modern shops and mini markets. Therefore, improving the quality of service and member participation in the cooperative is important in improving its business. Researchers conducted research using qualitative methods and used descriptive statistics to determine the marketing mix and member participation in the Sejahtera Employees Cooperative, PGRI University, Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a total of 30 respondents. There are twenty-six indicators which fall into ten dimensions and two variables. In conveying messages about their products to consumers, all dimensions of the marketing mix variables and member participation in the Sejahtera Employees Cooperative, PGRI University, Yogyakarta fall into the very high category. The dimension with the best score is the place with a score of 4.98. Meanwhile, the dimension with the lowest score is processed with a score of 4.57. This shows that the Prosperous Employee Cooperative, PGRI University, Yogyakarta has implemented the 7P marketing mix and member participation well.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of promotions through social media and word of mouth on the intention to revisit PINDAD Hospital patients, with a patient population of PINDAD Hospital with a sample of 100 respondents taken by purposive sampling method. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires directly and also using the Google form. After the validity and reliability tests were carried out, the analysis was carried out with the classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis tests, the coefficient of determination, the f test and t test. The results showed that promotions with social media and word of mouth had a positive and significant effect on patient repeat visits, which means that if promotions with social media and word of mouth were increased, the patient's repeat visits would also increase significantly.

Financial literacy and inclusion are the keys to business success, especially in managing finances well. This research aims to provide an overview of financial literacy and inclusion of local woven entrepreneurs in East Sumba Regency. The sample used was 78 respondents using a purposive sampling technique, spread across three weaving centers in East Sumba Regency, namely Mbatakapidu Village, Malumbi Village, and Kotak Kawau Village, using descriptive analysis techniques. The conclusion of this research is that the level of literacy understanding and financial inclusion of local woven entrepreneurs in East Sumba Regency is categorized as good, but the financial practices carried out by entrepreneurs tend to be carried out less well.

Purpose—This study aims to examine the links between transformational leadership, team-member exchange and job performance of people with disabilities in Hong Kong. Design/methodology/approach—Data were collected from a sample of 108 direct supervisors of people with disabilities via an online survey with validated scales. The structural equation modelling approach via SmartPLS (Version 3.0) was used to investigate the linear relations and the mediated effect amongst the variables. Findings—Transformational leadership was positively related to team-member exchange (p = 0.013), but its link with job performance was insignificant (p ≥ 0.05). Team-member exchange was positively related to job performance (p = 0.000). Hence, team-member exchange fully mediated the relationship between leaders’ transformational leadership and the job performance of people with disabilities. Originality/value—Transformational leadership is favorable for the job performance of people with disabilities, but its influence is indirect. High level of team-member exchange quality is necessary, as team-member exchange fully mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and the job performance of people with disabilities. Managers should demonstrate transformational leadership to all employees and not only pay attention to people with disabilities. This insight helps drive workplace disability inclusion.

The purpose of the article was to investigate the potential of rural green tourism in Ukraine and to determine the main directions of its innovative development, taking into account global, national, and regional trends. SLR (Systematic Literature Review), methods of expert assessment, selective observation, and graphic method were used to achieve the set goal. The article analyzes the current state of rural green tourism in Ukraine; the tourism and recreation potential of rural areas of Ukraine was assessed; promising types of innovations that are currently relevant for implementation in the practice of providing services in the field of rural green tourism in Ukraine are defined and grouped; and the impact of global, national, and regional trends on the current stage of activity and further development of rural green tourism in Ukraine is determined. It is determined that in modern economic conditions, rural tourism serves as a stabilizing factor that will contribute not only to maintaining the normal living standards of rural residents, but also to the development of the region’s economy, service infrastructure, household services, and the social sphere. Thus, rural green tourism is the main tool for stimulating the economic and socio-cultural development of rural areas. The results of the assessment of the tourist and recreational potential of rural green tourism of Ukraine showed that the recreational and tourist attractiveness of rural areas is mainly determined by natural and ecological conditions, cultural and historical conditions, and the tourist infrastructure of the region. Financial economic, socio-demographic, and administrative management conditions negatively affect the recreational and tourist attractiveness of rural areas, resulting in the low ability of the rural population to implement innovations. It has been established that in order for the tourist business to be able to quickly adapt to the normal state, it is necessary to introduce innovative types of tourism that will make it possible to attract a larger number of people to the tourist business and establish additional income due to the introduction of innovative offers, new tours, visits to special places, and the entire range of services of the best quality, which will contribute to the accelerated implementation of online forms and digital tools in the provision of tourist services, etc. It has been proven that the introduction of innovations plays an important role in ensuring the sustainable and balanced development of rural tourism in Ukraine, contributing to the creation of new opportunities and improving the quality of tourist services.

This study uses an input–output model to assess the economic impact of the 2018 Mile High 420 Festival on the Colorado economy. A comprehensive assessment was conducted to determine the economic impact of the Mile High 420 Festival, which included analyzing the direct, indirect, and induced effects of festival spending. The study involved 233 respondents whose primary motive was to attend the 420 Festival. Using IMPLAN, the study’s data were analyzed to determine the economic activity generated by visitor activity. On average, each respondent spent USD 2013 during their trip to Colorado. The largest expense per person was on cannabis-related activities and shopping, followed by lodging and food and drink. When these expenses were multiplied by the number of visitors (25,650), the total spending amounted to USD 51.7 million. When indirect and induced spending was included, the 2018 Mile High 420 Festival generated a total economic impact of over USD 95 million for Colorado. It contributed to the creation of 787 jobs in the region. No study has been conducted on the economic impact of a cannabis-themed festival in the current tourism literature. Therefore, this study contributes to filling this gap by developing literature on the impact of cannabis tourism and its implications for host communities or states, especially for state policymakers and business professionals. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reliable benchmark for subsequent economic impact analyses and comparisons with other industries.

This study investigates the multifaceted relationships between product innovation, customer satisfaction, and experience within the quick service restaurants (QSR) sector. Moreover, it explores the reciprocal dynamics, scrutinizing the impact of customer experience on shaping customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the research delves into the mediating function of customer experience in establishing the connection between product innovation and customer satisfaction. The participant pool encompassed 221 respondents, patrons of well-established QSRs, such as McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, and KFC, strategically situated in three prominent north Indian cities—Jammu, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Employing a structural equation modelling technique, the study meticulously examines the relationships between these crucial elements (product innovation, customer experience and customer satisfaction). This research contributes to existing knowledge by offering a detailed study of the dynamics governing product innovation, customer satisfaction, and experience in the QSR sector. The findings bear practical implications for QSR operators, providing valuable insights into strategies for enhancing customer satisfaction through effective product innovation and an elevated dining experience.

Leaders who lack leadership energy may struggle to demonstrate sustained competence and achieve effectiveness in difficult leadership situations. This research investigates the sources of leadership energy and examines the impact of leadership energy on the development and sustainability of leadership effectiveness and competence. This study employed a hypothetico-deductive research design, wherein the formulated hypotheses were tested through structural equation modelling (SEM). Data were collected using a questionnaire survey. A total of 272 responses were received from leaders of various industries, indicating a response rate of 66%. The findings of this study indicate that a leader’s capacity to respond to various situations, comprehend the importance of being directive, prioritize the development of positive attitudes and supportiveness, and recognize the significance of achievement are all factors that contribute to the internal mechanisms necessary for the leader’s manifestation of leadership energy. The study additionally discovered that leaders’ skills, qualities, and abilities are derived and maintained through their internal capacity and personal resilience emanating from their leadership energy. The hypotheses that were validated suggest a direct causal relationship, indicating that leadership motivation, leadership personality, and leadership orientation are significant factors in the generation of leadership energy. This study’s conclusions suggest that to sustain leadership competence and effectiveness, leaders must cultivate a culture that prioritizes both effectiveness and competence. The findings also imply that individuals must establish precise developmental objectives, as well as exhibit cognizance of and the acquisition of leadership expertise, knowledge and approaches. Thus, the need to reevaluate the competency-based approach to leadership is overwhelming. This study introduces the concept of leadership energy as a catalyst for perpetuating leadership effectiveness and competence. The study claims that the energy emanating from the intricate interplay of leaders’ orientation, experience, development, personality, and motivation engenders and perpetuates their efficacy and aptitude.

Assessing tourism sustainability has become of paramount importance to researchers and policymakers in regard to better protecting tourism destinations, particularly with the continued increase in the number of tourists and visitors who alter the natural components of the environment and degrade ecosystems. The use of geographic data is of great importance, as it can serve as a dashboard for monitoring and controlling the sustainability of tourist areas. Due to their diversity and abundance in the city of Tangier, these tools are available and easy to use. The medina of Tangier is used as a calculation example, a method that will also be applicable to other areas of the metropolitan city and to other cities as well. Based on the annual meeting of the different component of society involved in the Medina of Tangier, the data are extracted and integrated into the proposed model through a plugin interface. Therefore, the use of geographic data is of great importance, especially in environmental monitoring and land management, due to its ease of use and availability. However, calculating composite sustainability indices involves several steps and requires a basic understanding of existing models. This article describes the development and design of a plugin package in QGIS that serves as an easy-to-use tool to automatically process and calculate economic, environmental and social indices and the overall tourism sustainability index. These plugins were built in Python and designed as plugins for the QGIS software version 3.22.

Given the importance of semiotics and destination image (TDI) in the field of tourism and hospitality marketing, this study proposes a conceptual model that integrates Peirce’s semiotic triad, Grönroos’s quality service model, and Morris’s semiotic trichotomies in the TDI formation circle. The new framework aims to measure the contribution of quality hospitality services to online TDI formation. Using scaled comparisons of homogeneous big data, this framework was empirically tested with all two- and three-star Michelin restaurants and a sample of 100 four- and five-star hotels, all located in Asia and Europe, reviewed in 317,979 online travel reviews (OTRs) hosted on TripAdvisor. The results showed that three-star restaurants and five-star hotels are more popular in terms of the number of OTRs, but diners and guests are more satisfied with and loyal to two-star restaurants and four-star hotels. This big data finding contradicts previous survey-based research on quality services. Instead, the results confirm that consumer satisfaction positively affects consumer loyalty. The new approach to the TDI from a semiotic perspective—destination image semiotics—can represent a paradigm shift in the analysis of TDI through user-generated content (UGC). The proposed conceptual framework integrates several sound theoretical models to extract maximum insights from UGC.
