- Abstract
Det framkom även att ett bra bemötande från hälso- och sjukvården men även från andra människor minskade lidandet, Background Endometriosis is an illness where endometrium is found outside of the uterus resulting in an inflammatory process. Common symptoms include severe pain during menstruation and ovulation, constipation, diarrhoea and infertility. Health related quality of life is defined as how much everyday life is affected and how large the possibility is of the person living, according to them, a satisfactory life. Caring encounters need three key aspects to create security, the patient being met with empathy and listened to, get personally designed information and competence in medical technology. Aim The aim was to illustrate how quality of life is affected in women with the diagnosis endometriosis. Method Non-systematic review including 15 original articles with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Articles were found during searches of PubMed and CINAHL using a Boolean approach. A quality review of all articles included was conducted using Sophiahemmet University assessment basis for scientific classification and quality. Analysis was conducted using the integrative review method. Results Four main themes were identified during the compilation of the results, and those were quality of life related to the meeting with the surrounding world, quality of life related to sex life, quality of life related to career and quality of life related to psychological being. The most central aspect that affected women with endometriosis lives was pain. The pain affected working life negatively, the social life and intimate relationships was also negatively affected, and the pain was a great mental strain. Conclusions This literature review showed that women with endometriosis has a lower quality of life compared to women without the disease. Their lives were affected in multiple aspects, their social lives, intimate relationships, psychological being and the career was negatively affected. It became evident that a good encounter with healthcare but also with other people

Abstract Background Dystocia, difficult labour, is a common but also complex problem during childbirth. It can be attributed to either weak contractions of the uterus, a large infant, reduced capacity of the pelvis or combinations of these. Previous studies have indicated that there is a genetic component in the susceptibility of experiencing dystocia. The purpose of this study was to identify susceptibility genes in dystocia. Methods A total of 104 women in 47 families were included where at least two sisters had undergone caesarean section at a gestational length of 286 days or more at their first delivery. Study of medical records and a telephone interview was performed to identify subjects with dystocia. Whole-genome scanning using Affymetrix genotyping-arrays and non-parametric linkage (NPL) analysis was made in 39 women exhibiting the phenotype of dystocia from 19 families. In 68 women re-sequencing was performed of candidate genes showing suggestive linkage: oxytocin (OXT) on chromosome 20 and oxytocin-receptor (OXTR) on chromosome 3. Results We found a trend towards linkage with suggestive NPL-score (3.15) on chromosome 12p12. Suggestive linkage peaks were observed on chromosomes 3, 4, 6, 10, 20. Re-sequencing of OXT and OXTR did not reveal any causal variants. Conclusions Dystocia is likely to have a genetic component with variations in multiple genes affecting the patient outcome. We found 6 loci that could be re-evaluated in larger patient cohorts.

Background: In line with increased digitalization, new market opportunities are emerging for financial players. Swedish banks are expected to lose a large part of their profits to new digital companies in the financial market. An important aspect of digital development is innovation. Digital companies are in the front edge when it comes to innovation and uses external information on social media as inspiration for new innovative solutions. Utilizing external information for the purpose of developing products and services is described as open innovation. Thus, it would be beneficial for banks to think based on customers' digital perspectives using information on social media as inspiration for new innovative solutions, in accordance with an open innovation strategy. Purpose: The aim of the study is to investigate how Swedish banks can use social media to stimulate open innovation processes. Method: The study is designed in accordance with a qualitative research strategy. Empirical data has been collected through semi-structured interviews with respondents consist of representatives from Swedish banks and, by the study defined, innovation experts. Result: Swedish banks use social media in customer service and marketing purposes through reactive and proactive communication. The study confirms that social media also can be used for innovation-stimulating purposes. Social media can be used as a source of information in, by the study defined, open innovation processes by identifying customer ideas, behaviors and needs using methods for external information retrieval. In addition, social media can strengthen customer relations, which increases customer incentives to participate in innovation-stimulating activities. The activities can take place on social media or other channels. Finally, law-based regulations should not be a challenge that prevents banks from communicating on digital platforms. We would rather say that it is the banks inhabit on social media that is the biggest challenge.

Background: Housing associations are not a commercial activity and are profit driven. The income statement can therefore not be described as crucial for housing associations. However, what should be emphasized are the association’s cash flow statements that shows the financial flows and also the need to make provisions to meet future maintenance. Thus, additional information of housing associations financial situation should be added to the annual report. Purpose: The purpose is to investigate whether housing associations reporting according to K2 should supplement their financial statement with a cash flow analysis to provide a clearer measure of economic wellbeing. Method: The study is based on an qualitative research strategy. Empirical data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The respondents consist of three of the largest companies for housing administration, as well as an accountant at EY. Result: K2-reporting housing associations should complement their annual reports with a cash flow statement. A cash flow statement contributes to the understanding of the past year´s cash flows, which clarifies how cash is used. A positive cash flow contributes to better economic wellbeing for housing associations, because cash can be used to pay debt service, maintenenace and investments. Cash flow statements helps to give a better picture of the economic wellbeing of housing associations. The authors, however, states that a cash flow analysis alone does not contribute to a complete picture of the economic wellbeing of housing associations. The annual report should also be supplemented with key figures. Furthermore, maintenance is established and provisions made to the external fund.

21. Genetic studies of pre-eclampsia

- Abstract
Pre-eclampsia is a multifactorial, pregnancy-specific vascular disorder characterized by hypertension and proteinuria. It affects around 3-5% of pregnancies worldwide. There is a wide range of phenotypes from mild forms developing in the end of pregnancy, to severe forms with extremely high blood pressure that in worst cases could lead to eclampsia, the occurrence of seizures. Pre-eclampsia and eclampsia account for more than 50 000 maternal deaths per year. The etiology and pathophysiology of preeclampsia remain poorly understood, but it is generally accepted that defect placentation during the early stage of pregnancy, most likely in combination with maternal and environmental factors could lead to systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction and the manifestation of the clinical symptoms. Both large epidemiological and family studies have demonstrated genetic contribution to susceptibility. Although several loci have been mapped by linkage analysis only a few promising positional candidate genes have been identified so far. A number of functional candidate genes encoding for coagulation factors, oxidative stress and vasoactive substances, have been suggested to mediate susceptibility, but attempts to replicate these findings have yielded inconsistent results. The overall aim of this thesis was to search for genes predisposing for pre-eclampsia using several different approaches. In Paper I we evaluated the role of the first positionally cloned pre-eclampsia candidate gene STOX1 at 10q22 in the Finnish population. We were unable to validate STOX1 as a common pre-eclampsia gene, and our result is in agreement with two other European studies investigating the same gene. An intriguing association in Paper II suggests that pre-eclampsia share a predisposing genetic factor on chromosome 9p21 with coronary artery disease. To the best of our knowledge we were the first to investigate the role of the 9p21 region in pre-eclampsia. The association of this locus has not be

- Abstract
Sixteen isolates of gram-positive, coccoid bacteria were obtained from clinical cases of diverse conditions in cattle and identified as Streptococcus suisusing 16S ribosomal DNA gene sequencing and other bacterial identification methods. None of the isolates could be assigned to any of the known S. suiscapsular types. Virulence-associated gene profiling that targeted muramidase-released protein, extracellular protein factor, suilysin, 89-kb pathogenicity island, and arginine deiminase (arcA) genes were negative except for 1 isolate that was arcApositive. The arcA-positive isolate caused severe widespread lesions, including multiorgan suppurative and hemorrhagic inflammation in the meninges, lung, liver, spleen, lymph nodes, and serosae of heart and intestines. The other isolates were primarily associated with meningitis, bronchopneumonia, and multifocal acute necrotizing hepatitis. The isolates differed from each other by 4–6 fragments when examined by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis, indicating they are possibly related. The isolates were susceptible to ampicillin, penicillin, and tiamulin. Resistance was noted to sulfadimethoxine (93%), oxytetracycline (86%), chlortetracycline (86%), neomycin (67%), tilmicosin (47%), clindamycin (47%), enrofloxacin (33%), gentamicin (13%), florfenicol (7%), trimethoprim–sulfamethoxazole (7%), and spectinomycin (53%). Multi-drug resistance (defined as resistance to at least 1 agent in 3 or more antimicrobial classes) was detected in 67% of the isolates. The pathology observations provide evidence that S. suismay be an important pathogen of bovine calves. S. suisis an agent that clinical bacteriology laboratories should consider when dealing with cases involving cattle.

- Abstract
Human Papillomavirus is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STI) worldwide and is associated with more than 70% of invasive cervical cancer (ICC) cases. Vaccines against high-risk HPV infections have been developed: Gardasail, a quadrivalent vaccine protecting against HPV 16, 18, 6, and 11, and Cervarix for types 16 and 18 only. Although these vaccines have proven to be safe and effective in preventing HPV, vaccine coverage in the US remains much lower than other developed countries including Australia, the UK, and Canada. This thesis focuses on the implications of low HPV vaccine uptake and strategies to increase coverage in the US, specifically alternative venues for vaccine provision. Results from the literature search showed that common barriers to HPV vaccine uptake include lack of knowledge about HPV and the vaccines and lack of physician recommendation. With regards to alternative vaccination provision sites, the literature search showed the most evidence for mass vaccination in schools, particularly in Australia where government funded school-based vaccination programs have increased the national HPV vaccine coverage to 70%. Further, the literature search showed that pharmacies are another promising alternative venue for HPV vaccine administration because of their high accessibility and convenience.
