This paper presents experimental and analytical work of which the main objective was to support the introduction of a new technology for the production of sewer pipes. In this technology, the pipes produced consist of two differently produced parts. The direct part uses conventional vibro press compacted concrete. In the curved part, on the other hand, self-compacting concrete technology is used. The cooperating company, Prefa Brno a.s., defined possible negative effects on concrete of sewer pipes. The task of the research team and now the author’s team was to propose a procedure for the development of suitable self-compacting concrete variants and subsequently the design of a methodology to verify their durability in aqueous environments containing sulfates. To increase the efficiency of the development, the model mortar method was used in the experimental work. That is, instead of the original concrete, a model mortar derived from it was tested. The principle and procedure of derivation of model mortars are described in the paper. In total, eight variants of model mortars were tested, and at least three of them fulfilled the requirements. An optional but beneficial part of the carried out work was the derivation and practical application of the time-anchored-triangles-of-cracking graphical method developed during the research. This method is used to quickly compare the degree of attack of different silicate composites tested in a common bath inducing type III corrosion.

2-Aroylmethylidene-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines with the appropriate substituents can be suitable precursors for the synthesis of alkaloids from Galipea officinalis (cuspareine, galipeine, galipinine, angustureine). However, only two, rather low-yielding procedures for their synthesis are described in the literature. We have developed a simple and efficient protocol for an intramolecular, palladium or copper-catalysed amination of both chloro- and bromo-substituted 3-amino-1,5-diphenylpent-2-en-1-ones leading to the above-mentioned tetrahydroquinoline moiety. The methodology is superior to the methods published to date.

Easily obtainable cyclic enaminones (piperidin-2-ylidenealkanones) can be transformed into substituted bicyclic pyridazinium tetrafluoroborates upon treatment with corresponding diazonium salts. The transformation can be performed either in a one-pot way or in a two-step process with the isolation of single azo-coupled enaminone as the intermediate. The former method is superior. Under the optimized conditions, a number of pyridazinium salts substituted with both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing substituents was easily synthesized. A mechanism of the formation of the pyridazinium salts is suggested. A partial drawback is the possibility of the formation of a mixture of products when using a different diazonium salt in each step due to a reversibility of the azo coupling. This can be suppressed by using a more reactive diazonium salt before a less reactive one.

The nucleophilic substitution of substituted o-nitrochlorobenzenes with substituted methanethiolates, catalysed with triethylamine or pyridine, has been used to prepare a series of appropriately substituted methyl-o-nitrophenylsulfides. The prepared compounds were identified by their 1H- and 13C-NMR spectra. The base catalysed ring closure of methyl 2-(methoxycarbonylmethylsulfanyl)-3,5-dinitrobenzenecarboxylate only results in an attack of carbanion on the ester group, not on a nitro group as with the other compounds prepared. The cyclisation product is methyl 3-hydroxy-5,7-dinitrobenzo[b]thiophene-2-carboxylate (11).
