All 835 valid species of caddisflies recorded from Vietnam by the end of 2021 are cataloged. The catalog is annotated with information about reference to original description where the species was described, type locality, depository institution of the type material, habitat where the species has been collected, and distribution. The distribution section covers all countries as well as Vietnamese provinces from where species has been recorded. The catalog is based on records of about 7,600 individuals recorded in literature, of which 69 % of the individuals are males and 31 % are females. With 139 species recorded, the most species rich family in Vietnam is the Hydropsychidae, followed by the Philopotamidae, Leptoceridae and the Hydroptilidae. These four families comprise 50% of the species diversity of caddisflies in Vietnam. By number of species, the smallest families are the Phryganopsychidae and Brachycentridae (two species each) and the Sericostomatidae, Phryganeidae and Limnocentropodidae that are represented by only one species each. This paper considers a parallel hybrid electric truck where the tractive force delivered to the wheels can be provided by a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) and/or a motor generator (MG). This hybrid truck is equipped with a clutch system that is capable of decoupling the ICE and the MG from the drivetrain to improve the fuel reduction performance, compared with a hybrid truck without a separate clutch for the MG. In the considered hybrid truck, the energy management strategy utilizes the battery to reduce the fuel consumption and the associated emissions. As the battery life is limited, the vehicle owner will suffer from extra costs for battery replacement. Henceforth, it is necessary to guarantee sufficient battery life. This paper develops a quasi-static battery cycle-life model and formulates a model-based integrated energy management (IEM) strategy. This IEM strategy optimizes the power split (between the ICE and the MG) and the operation of the clutch system to minimize the hybrid truck fuel consumption while guaranteeing the requested battery life. The problem of fuel minimization with battery life guarantee is analytically solved using optimal control theory. Mathematical and physical arguments are used to explain the compromise between fuel reduction and battery life preservation. Simulation results demonstrate that the IEM strategy will guarantee the requested battery life for different driving cycles while allowing appropriate hybrid powertrain operations for fuel minimization. CrIII binding to transferrin (Tf; the main FeIII transport protein) has been postulated to mediate cellular uptake of CrIII to facilitate a purported essential role for this element. Experiments using HepG2 (human hepatoma) cells, which were chosen because of high levels of the transferrin receptor, showed that CrIII binding to vacant FeIII-binding sites of human Tf effectively blocks cellular CrIII uptake. Through bio-layer interferometry studies of the Tf cycle, it was found that both exclusion and efflux of Cr2 IIITf from cells was caused by 1) relatively low Cr2Tf affinity to cell-surface Tf receptors compared to Fe2Tf, and 2) disruption of metal release under endosomal conditions and post-endosomal Tf dissociation from the receptor. These data support mounting evidence that CrIII is not essential and that Tf binding is likely to be a natural protective mechanism against the toxicity and potential genotoxicity of dietary Cr through blocking CrIII cellular accumulation. LIE DETECTION IS A DIFFICULT TASK, THOUGH EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THAT SUCCESS IN LIE DETECTION IS INFLUENCED BY THE ABILITY TO IDENTIFY MICRO-EXPRESSIONS, BRIEF FACIAL EMOTIONAL EXPRESSIONS. While Cr(III) dietary supplements are widely consumed, some commercial supplements have yet to be structurally characterized. X-ray absorption spectroscopy and other spectroscopic methods were used to characterize Cr(III) nicotinato nutritional supplements that have long been used in complementary medicine. Different ratios of nicotinic acid and CrCl3⋅6H2O (trans-[CrCl2(OH2)4]Cl⋅2H2O) at different pH values gave a range of products. The local structures of Cr(III) nicotinato complexes obtained at pH 7 and of the patented complex were characterized by performing multiple-scattering analysis of their EXAFS spectra as well as EPR, UV-vis, and IR spectroscopies. For the first time, these complexes have been definitively characterized as nicotinato-bridged polymers of dihydroxido-bridged dinuclear Cr(III) cores. In the patented complex used in commercial preparations, each Cr is octahedral with an additional terminal O-bound nicotinato ligand, two bridging nicotinato (one O and one N bound), and an aqua ligand. The other species also have two or three bridging nicotinato ligands and an aqua and, in some cases, a terminal hydroxido ligand, which is dependent upon the stoichiometry of the reactants and the pH value of the solution in which they are prepared. To date, studies examining the relation between body mass index percentile (BMI%) categories and health-related quality of life (QOL) measurements have not reported preference-weighted scores among ethnically diverse children. We report the associations between BMI% categories and preference-weighted scores among a large cohort of ethnically diverse sixth grade children who participated in the HEALTHY school-based type 2 diabetes risk factor prevention study. Health Utility Index 2 (HUI2) and Health Utility Index 3 (HUI3) and the feeling thermometer (FT) were the preference-weighted QOL instruments used to measure student's preference scores. Of 6358 consented students, 4979 (78.3%) had complete QOL, height, weight, and covariate data. Mean (SD) preference scores were 0.846 (0.160), 0.796 (0.237), and 0.806 (0.161) for the HUI2, HUI3, and FT, respectively. After adjusting for age, sex, blood glucose and insulin, Tanner stage, race/ethnicity, family history of diabetes, and educational attainment, children with severe obesity (>99%) had significantly lower preference scores compared to normal weight on all three instruments (HUI2 P = 0.013; HUI3 P = 0.025; and FT P < 0.001). Obese and severe obese categories were significantly associated with lower HUI2 functional ratings in the mobility domain and with lower HUI3 functional ratings in the speech domain. Aims: To investigate the impact of different gaseous atmospheres on different physiological parameters in the brewing yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae BRAS291 during batch fermentation. Methods and Results: Yeasts were cultivated on a defined medium with a continuous sparging of hydrogen, helium and oxygen or without gas, permitting to obtain three values of external redox. High differences were observed concerning viable cell number, size and metabolites produced during the cultures. The ethanol yields were diminished whereas glycerol, succinate, acetoin, acetate and acetaldehyde yields were enhanced significantly. Moreover, we observed major changes in the intracellular NADH/NAD+ and GSH/GSSG ratio. Conclusions: The use of gas led to drastic changes in the cell size, primary energy metabolism and internal redox balance and Eh . These changes were different depending on the gas applied throughout the culture. Significance and Impact of the Study: For the first time, our study describes the influence of various gases on the physiology of the brewing yeast S. cerevisiae. These influences concern mainly yeast growth, cell structure, carbon and redox metabolisms. This work may have important implications in alcohol-related industries, where different strategies are currently developed to control better the production of metabolites with a particular attention to glycerol and ethanol. Abstract: In order to assess the internal structure of risk assessment of sexual recidivism of the Sex Offender Risk Appraisal Guide (SORAG), and the STATIC-99, a principal components analysis followed by promax rotation was conducted. In a data set including adults forensic sex offenders, three interpretable components were identified both with the SORAG (n =79) and the STATIC-99 (n =254): “past criminal behaviour”, “demographic characteristics”, and “antisocial personality” for the SORAG and “criminal past behaviour”, “aggressor-victim relationship” and “sexual offence” for the STATIC-99. Prospective data were available (SORAG: n =133; STATIC-99: n =137). For both instruments, the “criminal past behaviour” factor was the only one predicting general recidivism, violent recidivism and sexual recidivism. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Under the Belgian Social Defence Law (1964), mentally disordered offenders who are deemed to lack criminal responsibility have to be interned in an ‘Institution of Social Defence’ rather than in a prison. There, they are supposed to receive specialised treatment before their rehabilitation and re-insertion into the community. This paper discusses expertise practice in relation to the Social Defence Law. The paper first gives a description of the requirements of the law. The paper then presents the prevalence of clinical syndromes (axis 1) and of personality disorders (axis 2) among a sample of internees (N =98). The sample presents a high co-morbidity (2.6) of axis I syndromes, and of axis 2 personality disorders (1.7), the majority of them (64%) present both axis diagnoses. The paper also discusses the prevalence of a high psychopathy as measured by the PCL-R among internees (5-8%) as compared to prison inmates given the aim of the law of protecting the society against dangerous individuals. The paper shows that the Social Defence Law embraces a very large spectrum of psychiatric diagnoses including personality disorders and psychopathy. The following recommendations could improve expertise practices: (a) the consideration of earlier propositions relating to the improvement of the Social Defence Law; (b) a comparative research between psychiatric diagnoses of internees and of inmates; (c) a better definition of clinical criteria relating to the application of the law; (d) the implementation of a specialised observation unit before the decision to intern; (e) the need to go beyond a dichotomous conception of the ability to control; (f) the consideration of contextual factor of dangerousness; (g) encouraging the use of validated risk and clinical assessment instruments; (h) a better financing for expert work. The present study examined whether psychopaths exhibit deficits in selective attention and executive functions. Prison inmates were assigned to either a “psychopath” group or a “control” group according to their scores on the PCL-R [Hare, 1991: Toronto, Multi-Health Systems]. The two groups were compared in terms of performance on the following tests: (1) D-II cancellation, (2) Porteus Maze, (3) Modified Wisconsin Card Sorting, (4) Stroop Color Word Interference, (5) Trail Making, and (6) Tower of London. The results support the hypothesis of selective attention and specific executive function deficits among psychopaths. Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted on all eligible cohort studies to evaluate the association between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and osteoporotic fracture risk. Both frequentist and Bayesian approaches were employed for the meta-analysis. We found that high tertiles of hs-CRP were significantly associated with increased fracture risk. Introduction: The association between the inflammatory marker CRP and osteoporotic fracture has remained uncertain. In this study, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to examine the association of serum hs-CRP and fracture risk. Methods: We performed a systematic literature search of relevant databases, including PubMed, Embase, and MEDLINE publications from January 1950 through April 2020. Three reviewers independently performed the study selection, quality assessment, and data abstraction. Frequentist and Bayesian hierarchical random-effects models were used separately for the analysis. Statistical heterogeneity was assessed using Higgin's I2 and Cochran's Q statistic, and publication bias was examined using funnel plots and rank correlation tests. Results: Fourteen cohort studies that reported t fracture outcomes were eligible for the systematic review. Only ten studies (n = 29,741) qualified for meta-analysis. In the frequentist approach, the RR for fracture in a comparison of the top tertile group to the bottom tertile group of hs-CRP was 1.54 (1.18, 2.01). The estimated risk of fracture remained significant in all sensitivity and subgroup analyses. Higgin's I2 (30.52%) and Cochran's Q statistic (p < 0.01) suggested there was moderate heterogeneity for the meta-analysis. In the Bayesian approach, the pooled RR was 1.60 (95% CI (1.07–2.49)), and the probabilities that the high level of hs-CRP increased fracture risk by more than 0%, 10%, and 20% were 99%, 98%, and 93%, respectively. Abstract: Although serial killers have always existed, individualizing this concept as well as giving a consensual definition and universal typology is still a problem nowadays. The authors present an overview based on the current literature, more specifically on definitions, categorization, epidemiology and clinical area. Psychopathological aspects are also developed and focused on different topics: psychopathy, sexual sadism, fantasies, and childhood. Serial murder is a world-wide phenomenon which has an increasing incidence even in the countries where the global criminality rate is decreasing, as for example in the United-States. The reasons are numerous and often lead to inconvenient explanations. A serial killer is generally a Caucasian, aged between 20 and 40, who is often socially and familiarly well integrated, often suffering from personal and especially familial psychiatric conditions. Many serial killers act alone, and plan their crime a long time in advance. They choose their next victims with highly precise criteria, approached then and win their trust. Few serial killers act in an impulsive way and do not select their victims. In this precise case, these are very often psychotic. Generally, serial killers have a psychopathic personality disorder with a sexual sadistic dimension. Psychopathy implies a lack of affection and a loss or a total absence of empathy. A gravely offended childhood with physical and psychological violence, a chaotic familial dynamic, and lot of sexual, violent and dead fantasies are the common denominator of these murderers. Nowadays, even if they are regularly on the highlights of the media, serial killers still remain an enigma. Neurobiological and neurophysiological approaches, through the functional neuroimagery for example, could be interesting paradigms in order to try to understand and decode how these people work and, in this way, prevent their emergences. Background: Rifapentine-based regimens have potent antimycobacterial activity that may allow for a shorter course in patients with drug-susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis.Methods: In an open-label, phase 3, randomized, controlled trial involving persons with newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis from 13 countries, we compared two 4-month rifapentine-based regimens with a standard 6-month regimen consisting of rifampin, isoniazid, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol (control) using a noninferiority margin of 6.6 percentage points. In one 4-month regimen, rifampin was replaced with rifapentine; in the other, rifampin was replaced with rifapentine and ethambutol with moxifloxacin. The primary efficacy outcome was survival free of tuberculosis at 12 months.Results: Among 2516 participants who had undergone randomization, 2343 had a culture positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis that was not resistant to isoniazid, rifampin, or fluoroquinolones (microbiologically eligible population; 768 in the control group, 791 in the rifapentine-moxifloxacin group, and 784 in the rifapentine group), of whom 194 were coinfected with human immunodeficiency virus and 1703 had cavitation on chest radiography. A total of 2234 participants could be assessed for the primary outcome (assessable population; 726 in the control group, 756 in the rifapentine-moxifloxacin group, and 752 in the rifapentine group). Rifapentine with moxifloxacin was noninferior to the control in the microbiologically eligible population (15.5% vs. 14.6% had an unfavorable outcome; difference, 1.0 percentage point; 95% confidence interval [CI], -2.6 to 4.5) and in the assessable population (11.6% vs. 9.6%; difference, 2.0 percentage points; 95% CI, -1.1 to 5.1). Noninferiority was shown in the secondary and sensitivity analyses. Rifapentine without moxifloxacin was not shown to be noninferior to the control in either population (17.7% vs. 14.6% with an unfavorable outcome in the microbiologically eligible population; difference, 3.0 percentage points [95% CI, -0.6 to 6.6]; and 14.2% vs. 9.6% in the assessable population; difference, 4.4 percentage points [95% CI, 1.2 to 7.7]). Adverse events of grade 3 or higher occurred during the on-treatment period in 19.3% of participants in the control group, 18.8% in the rifapentine-moxifloxacin group, and 14.3% in the rifapentine group.Conclusions: The efficacy of a 4-month rifapentine-based regimen containing moxifloxacin was noninferior to the standard 6-month regimen in the treatment of tuberculosis. Aims: Chronic alcoholism is classically associated with major deficits in the visual and auditory processing of emotions. However, the crossmodal (auditory-visual) processing of emotional stimuli, which occurs most frequently in everyday life, has not yet been explored. The aim of this study was to explore crossmodal processing in alcoholism, and specifically the auditory-visual facilitation effect. Methods: Twenty patients suffering from alcoholism, and 20 matched healthy controls had to detect the emotion (anger or happiness) displayed by auditory, visual or auditory-visual stimuli. The stimuli were designed to elicit a facilitation effect (namely, faster reaction times (RTs) for crossmodal condition than for unimodal ones). RTs and performance were recorded. Results: While the control subjects elicited a significant facilitation effect, alcoholic individuals did not present this effect, as no significant differences between RTs according to the modality were shown. This lack of facilitation effect is the marker of an impaired auditory-visual processing. Conclusions: Crossmodal processing of complex social stimuli (such as faces and voices) is crucial for interpersonal relations. This first evidence for a crossmodal deficit in alcoholism contribute in explaining the contrast observed between experimental results describing, up to now, mild impairments in emotional facial expression (EFE) recognition in alcoholic subjects (e.g. Oscar-Berman et al., 1990), and the many clinical observations suggesting massive problems.
