Kinesiophobia, the fear of movement, can significantly impede an individuals ability to engage in daily activities. This fear often stems from past traumatic experiences or witnessing others in pain, leading to an increased fear of injury. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia among Iranian post-surgery patients. A methodological study conducted in 2023 involved a sample of 400 post-surgery patients selected through convenience sampling. The translated scale underwent psychometric evaluation, including network analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis for construct validity, as well as assessments for convergent and discriminant validity. Internal consistency of the scale was also assessed. The mean age of the participants was 44.38 (SD = 13.49) years and the majority of them (77.8%) were women. Exploratory factor analysis with Promax rotation identified two factors explaining 60.28% of the variance, comprising 17 items. The final model was confirmed after necessary adjustments in confirmatory factor analysis. Both convergent and discriminant validity were established, and alpha and omega coefficients of the subscales were above 0.7. The Persian version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia showed robust psychometric properties among Iranian post-surgery patients, serving as a valuable tool for evaluating and addressing kinesiophobia in this population. These findings enhance the understanding and management of kinesiophobia within the Iranian healthcare context.

Oral health plays a crucial role in obesity management. Scientific evidence suggests an association between obesity and oral diseases, including periodontal disease, dental caries, tooth erosion, xerostomia, and dentinal hypersensitivity. Maintaining optimal oral health is essential for obese patients, as compromised dentition or oral discomfort can influence dietary habits. However, managing oral health in obese individuals can be challenging due to anatomical limitations and lifestyle choices. A profound knowledge of obesity and its manifestations is essential for oral health professionals to raise awareness and provide patients with comprehensive care. Pocrescophobia also known as obesophobia, is an intense fear of gaining weight. It affects both adoloscent women and men, manifesting as an irrational dread associated with weight gain. Like other phobias, obesophobia falls under the umbrella of anxiety disorders, leading to exaggerated anxiety when discussing or thinking about weight gain. Individuals with this fear may go to extreme lengths to avoid weight gain, which can increase the risk of developing eating disorders. Stress can lead to bruxism, wear away the occlusal surfaces and incisal edges, resulting in flat, shorter teeth. Smooth V-shaped cavities arise when lateral stresses surpass physiological limitations, resulting in gum recession and tooth discomfort. Canker sores, xerostomia, and lichen planus have all been linked to stress. Understanding the phenomenology and content of the inhaled N, N, dimethyltryptamine (N, N-DMT) experience is critical to facilitate and support ongoing research and therapeutic models targeting mental health conditions and central nervous system pathology. A qualitative analysis was conducted of all N, N-DMT experiences posted to the r/DMT Reddit community over a 10-year period from 2009 to 2018. A total of 3778 experiences from 3305 posts were included in this study. A median dose of N, N-DMT of 40.0 mg [interquartile range (IQR), 27.5 to 50.0] and a median experience duration of 10 min (IQR, 5.0 to 15.0) were identified. The most common somatic effects were somaesthesias (n = 1415, 37.5%) and an auditory ringing (n = 583, 15.4%). Visualizations predominantly consisted of fractals, shapes, patterns (n = 1231, 32.6%) and vivid colours (n = 953, 25.2%). Entity encounters were reported in 45.5% (n = 1719) of the experiences and involved predominantly a feminine phenotype (n = 416, 24.2%); deities (n = 293, 17.0%); aliens (n = 281, 16.3%); creature-based entities (n = 158, 9.2%, including reptilian and insectoid beings); mythological beings (n = 144, 8.4%, including machine elves); and jesters (n = 112, 6.5%). Entity interactions were predominantly positive (n = 600, 34.9% of encounters) involving benevolent, comforting, protecting, or outwardly caring interactions. A companion-type, pedagogical, or guide-type interaction was identified 32.4% of encounters (n = 557). Common typology, architecture, and structural features of the "DMT world" included descriptions of alternate or higher dimensions (n = 952, 25.2%); rooms [n = 582, 15.4%, including the "waiting room" (n = 105, 2.8%)], and a tunnel (n = 390, 10.3%). Features of mystical and ego-dissolution experiences were common. Additional rewarding aspects were identified, including a sense of familiarity and the acceptance/removal of the fear of death. Challenging and difficult responses were less frequent but also documented. Statements of profundity were identified in 232 experiences (6.1%), including pronouncing the experience or an aspect of the experience as the most "beautiful" or feeling the most "beautiful" of their life (n = 47, 1.2%). This study identified common phenomenological themes and content of naturalistic inhaled N, N-DMT experiences. Major thematic domains included (1) physical and somatic experiences; (2) visualizations and imagery; (3) entity encounters including entity phenotype, descriptors, attributes, disposition, and characteristics of the interaction; (4) typology, architectural features, structural characteristics, and scenery of the "DMT world"; (5) alerations in consciousness (including mystical experiences, out-of-body experiences, and ego-dissolution); (6) emotional responses (including positive, rewarding, difficult, and challenging); and (7) statements of profundity.

Objective: To evaluate how distinct presentations of anxiety symptoms and intellectual impairment influence the measurement and estimated rate of clinically significant anxiety in autism spectrum disorder (ASD).Method: The sample included 75 children (ages 9-13 years) with ASD and varied IQ and 52 typically developing (TD) controls and parents. Parents completed anxiety symptom scales and a diagnostic interview, designed to (1) differentiate anxiety and ASD and (2) examine DSM-specified and unspecified ("distinct") anxiety presentations in each child, including fears of change, special interests, idiosyncratic stimuli and social confusion rather than evaluation. Children completed standard intellectual and ASD diagnostic assessments.Results: 69% of those with ASD had clinically-significant anxiety, including 21% DSM-specified anxiety disorders, 17% distinct anxiety, and 31% both. ObjectivesTo assess the feasibility of a rapid, focused ferumoxytol-enhanced MR angiography (f-FEMRA) protocol in patients with claustrophobia.MethodsIn this retrospective study, 13 patients with claustrophobia expressed reluctance to undergo conventional MR angiography, but agreed to a trial of up to 10 min in the scanner bore and underwent f-FEMRA. Thirteen matched control patients who underwent gadolinium-enhanced MR angiography (GEMRA) were identified for comparison of diagnostic image quality. For f-FEMRA, the time from localizer image acquisition to completion of the angiographic acquisition was measured. Two radiologists independently scored images on both f-FEMRA and GEMRA for arterial and venous image quality, motion artefact and diagnostic confidence using a 5-point scale, five being best. Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) in the aorta and IVC were measured. The Wilcoxon rank-sum test, one-way ANOVA with Tukey correction and two-tailed t tests were utilized for statistical analyses.ResultsAll scans were diagnostic and assessed with high confidence (scores ≥ 4). Average scan time for f-FEMRA was 6.27 min (range 3.56 to 10.12 min), with no significant difference between f-FEMRA and GEMRA in diagnostic confidence (4.86 ± 0.24 vs 4.69 ± 0.25, p = 0.13), arterial image quality (4.62 ± 0.57 vs 4.65 ± 0.49, p = 0.78) and motion artefact score (4.58 ± 0.49 vs 4.58 ± 0.28, p > 0.99). f-FEMRA scored significantly better for venous image quality than GEMRA (4.62 ± 0.42 vs 4.19 ± 0.56, p = 0.04). CNR in the IVC was significantly higher for steady-state f-FEMRA than GEMRA regardless of the enhancement phase (p < 0.05).ConclusionsComprehensive vascular MR imaging of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis can be completed in as little as 5 min within the magnet bore using f-FEMRA, facilitating acceptance by patients with claustrophobia and streamlining workflow.Advances in knowledgeA focused approach to vascular imaging with ferumoxytol can be performed in patients with claustrophobia, limiting time in the magnet bore to 10 min or less, while acquiring fully diagnostic images of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis.

Specific phobia is frequently unrecognized or untreated unless it causes significant impairment. In this report, we documented a rare case of a pregnant patient who had a specific fear related to vaginal penetration. Due to abnormal fetal cardiac development in the second trimester, the patient was admitted for termination of pregnancy. The patient's persistent request for surgical termination via cesarean delivery prompted the obstetrician to seek psychiatric consultation for tokophobia, a labor- and childbirth-related phobia. The consulting psychiatrist discovered that the patient had developed a significant fear of vaginal penetration during adolescence. Throughout the extended period of this specific phobia, the patient established a range of avoidance strategies. Had it not been for the unforeseen need for abortion, her phobia may not have been identified. Psychoeducation on specific phobias, exposure therapy, muscle relaxation techniques, and the administration of anxiolytics were implemented. The pregnancy was terminated through a vaginal labor induction procedure 2 days later. Collaboration across disciplines is necessary to support a thorough assessment of obstetric patients who express hesitancy toward vaginal delivery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
