Cancer cells can be proliferating in a few months and years. It depends on cancer stage. Chemotherapy, immunotherapy and anti-metabolic drugs have been used in order to kill cancer cells and prevent immune system weakly and metastasis. However, such drugs can damage healthy cells too. Natural ways to cancer treatments may help whole body to cancer cells. In this work, it was taking off cancer nodule to skin cancer by surgery and we treat the nodule as wound, using Nanoskin® advance cell therapy (ACT), natural extra cellular matrix which releases nutrients to the skin cancer. Our result shows that the cancer nodule disappears in few weeks in skin, because of natural membrane treatment. In addition, we obtained complete wound healing due anticancer nutrients (beta-glucan) delivery to skin.

It’s well known that the cancer cell has tendency to grow fast. Chemotherapy drugs have been used in order to kill cancer growing cells and take immune system weakly. However, side effect can damage these healthy cells. Moreover, it is not natural treatment. Natural alternative cancer treatments may be able to help and open new way for cancer treatment. In this work, we transfer cancer nodule to wound and we treat the nodule as wound, using Nanoskin® advance cell therapy (ACT), natural extra cellular matrix which releases oxygen to the cancer tissue. Our result shows that the cancer nodule becomes like chronic wound opened and then disappeared. In addition, we obtained complete healing wound.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of rare genetic skin conditions, which is characterised by extremely fragile skin and recurrent blister formation, resulting from minor mechanical friction or trauma. Sufferers of EB have compared the sores to third-degree burns. Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a rare but very serious skin problem, which causes the appearance of reddish lesions throughout the body and other changes, such as difficulty in breathing and fever, which can endanger the life of the affected person. The aim of this study was to show efficacy of a NANOSKIN ACT, AND NANOSKIN ACT SOFT wound dressing on the wound care management in patients with EB AND Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS).

3D printing is the future. It will change the way in which we produce new materials—maybe much less in factories and much easier in shops. However, biobased materials have been difficult to 3D print. Most 3D printers use heat to melt the plastic or metal to be printed, and biobased materials are degraded. But cellulose nanofibrils have a solution to this problem: the printing paste is wet and dries out to a solid material. In this work, it was showed recent wound healing in Vinous Ulcer with kidney and other health complications using bacterial cellulose 3D print membranes.

This experimental study evaluated 40 guinea pigs that received Nanoskin®. A full thickness skin rectangle measuring 2x4 cm was removed from the median dorsal region and the wound was covered by a 2X2 cm fragment of uncoated Nanoskin® graft (uncoated group) or Nanoskin® coated with gelatin (coated group) and sutured in the caudal region and a 2x2 cm fragment of autologous skin sutured in the cranial aspect of the surgical wound served a control. The animals were examined daily by ectoscopy and euthanized at 7, 30, 90 and 180 days postoperatively. Immediately after euthanasia, the operated area was shaved, documented with photos and removed, and prepared for morphological, morphometric and ultrastructural exam. It was found that the full thickness skin wound healed in a centripetal pattern. The healing process was similar between groups, with a more pronounced inflammatory reaction initially that gradually decreased over time. The conclusion is that the uncoated Nanoskin® or Nanoskin® coated with gelatin is a good material to treat full thickness skin wound. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In addition, it has called attention for uses such as membrane for wound care and tissue engineering. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of natural materials before the bacteria are inoculated. In vivo behavior using natural ECM for regenerative medicine is presented and completed wound healing process is 3 months.

In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process was modified by the addition of chondroitin sulfate to the culture medium before the inoculation of the bacteria. The biomimetic process with heterogeneous calcium phosphate precipitation of biological interest was studied for the guided regeneration purposes on bacterial cellulose. FTIR results showed the incorporation of the chondroitin sulfate in the bacterial cellulose, SEM images confirmed the deposition of the calcium phosphate on the bacterial cellulose surface, XPS analysis showed a selective chemical group influences which change calcium phosphate deposition, besides, the calcium phosphate phase with different Ca/P ratios on bacterial cellulose surface influences wettability. XTT results concluded that these materials did not affect significantly in the cell viability, being non-cytotoxic. Thus, it was produced one biomaterial with the surface charge changes for calcium phosphate deposition, besides different wettability which builds new membranes for Guided Tissue Regeneration. Being used frequently in the development of Scaffolds for the tecidual regeneration. Bacterial cellulose is a biomaterial widely used in tissue regeneration. Due to its high content of hydrogen bonds, its crystallinity is high and its solubility is low, which makes its use difficult. Studies carried out with anteriority showed the modification suffered by bacterial cellulose treated with sulfuric acid solutions. The objective of this work was to study the influence of reaction time on crystallinity in the treatment of bacterial cellulose with sulfuric acid solution. Bacterial cellulose was modified by acid hydrolysis with sulfuric acid solutions of 48 or 64% for 60, 120 and 240 min. In all cases, the hydrolysed cellulose was washed with distilled water until pH 7, subsequently the cellulose was washed with ethanol and dried in an oven at 37 degrees C until a constant mass. The samples obtained were characterized by X-ray diffraction and the crystallinity index, the apparent crystallite size, the crystallite inner chains and the Z-discriminant function were determined. The results showed that the reaction time has a statistically significant influence on the crystallinity of bacterial cellulose. Natural extracellular matrices (ECMs) perform the tasks necessary for tissue formation, maintenance, regulation and function, providing a powerful means of controlling the biological performance of regenerative materials. In addition, biomedical materials have claimed attention because of the increased interest in tissue engineering materials for wound care and regenerative medicine. Moreover, the nanostructure and morphological similarities with collagen make BC attractive for cell immobilization, cell support and Natural Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Scaffolds. In this work, we present the extracellular matrix (ECM) using the bacterial cellulose (Nanoskin®) which regulates cell behavior by influencing cell proliferation, survival, shape, migration and differentiation. Bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified before the bacteria are inoculated for mimicking ECM to cells support and built new local material for wound healing. Chemical groups influences and thermal behavior in bacterial cellulose were analyzed using transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. Besides, In vivo analysis was evaluated with clinical study at Sharjah Kuwait Hospital.

A impressão 3D é o futuro. Isso mudará a maneira como produzimos novos materiais. No entanto, os materiais de base biológica têm sido difíceis de imprimir em 3D. A maioria das impressoras 3D usa calor para derreter o plástico ou metal a ser impresso, e os materiais de base biológica são degradados. Mas as nanofibrilas da Nanoskin têm uma solução para esse problema: O gel de impressão é úmido e seco para um material sólido. Neste trabalho, foi demonstrada a recentemente a cicatrização de feridas tais como úlcera venosa com complicações nos rins, pé diabético, doenças raras e outras condições de saúde usando membranas de impressão 3D de Nanoskin.

As such, regenerative medicine studies often rely on mimicking the natural ECM to promote the formation of new tissue by host cells, and characterization of natural ECM components is vital for the development of new biomimetic approaches. PURPOSE To evaluate the suitability of Nanoskin, a biomaterial derived from bacterial cellulose, as an alternate material for repairing the posterior lamellae of the eyelids. METHODS Forty guinea pigs received a fragment of Nanoskin subcutaneously in the dorsal region. The animals received Nanoskin (group 1) or Nanoskin coated with a gelatin layer (group 2). The animals were observed daily for over 7, 30, 90, or 180 days with the subcutaneous implants in place. The animals were euthanized at a designated time and the Nanoskin was removed for histologic, morphometric, and transmission electron microscopy evaluation. RESULTS The results were similar for both groups. The subcutaneously implanted Nanoskin resulted in good tissue integration, induced mild inflammation, and was surrounded by a delicate pseudocapsule. CONCLUSION The good tissue integration of Nanoskin in study indicates that it may be a potential material for application as a substitute of posterior eyelid lamellar tissue. Further clinical studies are required to confirm the preliminary outcomes of this experimental study.

Bacterial cellulose (BC) has become established as a remarkably versatile biomaterial and can be used in a wide variety of applied scientific applications, especially for medical devices. In this work, the bacterial cellulose fermentation process is modified by the addition of hyaluronic acid and gelatin (1% w/w) to the culture medium before the bacteria is inoculated. Hyaluronic acid and gelatin influence in bacterial cellulose was analyzed using Transmission Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Adhesion and viability studies with human dental pulp stem cells using natural bacterial cellulose/hyaluronic acid as scaffolds for regenerative medicine are presented for the first time in this work. MTT viability assays show higher cell adhesion in bacterial cellulose/gelatin and bacterial cellulose/ hyaluronic acid scaffolds over time with differences due to fiber agglomeration in bacterial cellulose/gelatin. Confocal microscopy images showed that the cell were adhered and well distributed within the fibers in both types of scaffolds.

Bacterial cellulose is a highly hydrated pellicle made up of a random assembly of ribbon shaped fibers less than 5 nm wide. The unique properties provided by the nanometric structure have led to a number of diagnostic biological probes, display devices due to their unique size-dependent medical applications. Bacterial cellulose matrix extracellular is a novel biotechnology and unique medicine indicated for ultimate chronic wound treatment management, drug delivery, tissue engineering, skin cancer and offers an actual and effective solution to a serious medical and social problem and to promote rapid healing in lesions caused by Diabetic burns, ulcers of the lower limbs or any other circumstance in which there's epidermal or dermal loss. In this work, it is reported novel antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) bacterial cellulose/polyhexanide biguanide (PHMB) which are produced by symbioses culture between polyhexanide biguanide and green tea culture medium resulting in the pure 3-D structure consisting of an ultra-fine network of novel biocellulose/PHMB nanofibres matrix (2-8 nm), highly hydrated (99% in weight), and with higher molecular weight, full biocompatibility.

Adhesion and Viability study with human dental pulp stem cell using natural nanotolith/bacterial cellulose scaffolds for regenerative medicine are presented at first time in this work. Nanotolith, are osteoinductors, i.e., they stimulate bone regeneration, enabling higher cells migration for bone tissue regeneration formation. This is mainly because nanotoliths are rich minerals present in the internal ear of bony fish. In addition, are part of a system which acts as a depth sensor and balance, acting as a sound vibrations detector and considered essential for the bone mineralization process, as in hydroxiapatites. Nanotoliths influence in bacterial cellulose was analyzed using transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Results shows that fermentation process and nanotoliths agglomeration decrease initial human dental pulp stem cell adhesion however tested bionanocomposite behavior has cell viability increase over time.

Objetivo: Avaliar a biocompatibilidade da Nanoskin para reposicao de volume em cavidades enucleadas ou evisceradas de coelhos. Metodos: Estudo experimental, utilizando implantes de Nanoskin (Innovatecs®, Sao Carlos, Brasil), celulose bacteriana produzida pela bacteria Acetobacter xylinum tendo como substrato o cha-verde. Implantes de 10mm de diâmetro/5mm de espessura foram colocados em cavidades enucleadas (G1) ou evisceradas (G2) de 21 coelhos, avaliados clinicamente todos os dias, sacrificados aos 7, 30 e 90 dias apos a cirurgia. O material foi removido e preparado para exame de microscopia optica. Resultados: Sinais flogisticos discretos no posoperatorio imediato, nao tendo sido evidenciados sinais infecciosos ou extrusao de nenhum implante. Houve aparente reducao do volume ao longo do periodo experimental. Histologicamente ambos os grupos foram muito semelhantes, apresentando aos 7 dias celulas inflamatorias (predominantemente monocitos e neutrofilos), rede de fibrina e hemacias. A Nanoskin apresentava-se como pequenas esferas, de cor rosea, com pequenos espacos entre elas, permeados por escassas celulas inflamatorias. As celulas inflamatorias se modificaram ao longo de periodo experimental, sendo possivel observar aos 30 dias celulas gigantes multinucleadas e fibroblastos maduros permeando o implante. Aos 90 dias, a estrutura do implante apresentava-se desorganizada, amorfa, com restos necroticos e com areas ovoides, revestidas por fina membrana rosea, que pareciam se agrupar, vazias ou preenchidas por material acelular, roseo ou acinzentado. Conclusao: A Nanoskin provocou reacao inflamatoria que levou a reabsorcao e reducao do volume do implante. Novas formulacoes devem ser estudadas a fim de ter um produto que seja permanente para reparo da cavidade anoftalmica.

The BC bioprocess production can be changed by controlling the fermentation process. It has unique properties that make it an exciting candidate as a medical material: strength, good integration within the host tissue, and flexibility of production in various shapes and sizes. This chapter describes a morphological investigation in human regenerative medicine, stem cell behavior on bacterial cellulose, and recent drug delivery applications for medical applications. It also discusses futures insights and research with bacterial cellulose.

In this work, we obtain first electrospun bacterial cellulose mats after chemical treatment and without conductive additives. With DMA/LiClmechanism dissolution, modified bacterial cellulose was easily electrospun in chloroform/acetone solvents in comparison with BC unmodified. FTIR peaks results are consistent with proposed interactions between cellulose and DMA/LiCl solvent system.

In the present work, we report the first bionanocomposite material formed by otoliths/ collagen/ bacterial cellulose (BC) networks (OCBC). This biomaterial is an osteoinductor or be, stimulates the bone regeneration, enabling bigger migration of the cells for formation of the bone tissue regeneration mainly because nanotolith are rich in minerals considered essential to the bone mineralization process on a protein matrix (otolin). The objective in this study was to analyze the regeneration capacity of bone defects treated with this bionanocomposite. Histological experiments shows bone tissue formation with high regularity, higher osteoblast activity and osteo-reabsorption activities areas. The results suggest the potential for this new biomaterial as a scaffold for bone tissue regeneration.

Nanotholits is an osteoinductor or be, stimulates the bone regeneration, enabling bigger migration of the cells for formation of the bone tissue regeneration mainly because nanotholits are rich in minerals considered essential to the bone mineralization process on a protein matrix (otolin) as hydroxiapatite. In order to improve its biodegrability and bioresorption in new platforms for tissue engineering, it was electrospun PHB/nanotholits from aqueous solutions of this polymer at concentrations of nanotholits 1% (w/v) and compared morphological and thermal properties with PHB/nanotholits casting films. Electrospun PHB/nanotholits mats presents more symmetric nanopore structure than casting films mats observed by SEM images mainly because the orientation of pores along the longitudinal direction of the electrospun fibers. Nanotholits influences in PHB electrospun/casting was analyzed using transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). TGA showed similar thermal properties but DSC showed distinct thermal properties and crystallinity process of the developed bionanocomposite mainly because of different processing.

The quantum Hall liquid-Hall insulator transition has been studied using a gate-controlled periodical lattice of antidots. This system allows us to probe deep into the phase-space of the transition at both low and high magnetic fields. It is shown, that the transition occurs when the longitudinal and Hall conductivities are equal to each other. Thus, contrary to the scaling delocalisation model, renormalisation occurs only when ω c τ =1. The Hall resistivity at the transition point is close to its classical value, as predicted by the Chern-Simons-Landau-Ginzburg theory of the quantum Hall effect.

We report on magnetoresistance measurements of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) grown on dimpled substrates. As the 2DEG is sensitive only to the normal component of B, electrons will experience an inhomogeneous (B perpendicular to the substrate) or a sign-alternating “tiled” magnetic field (when B is parallel to the substrate). In a titled magnetic field, Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations change the phase at high field because the introduction to the system of “magnetic barriers” i.e. regions with a large normal component of B. In a “tiled” magnetic field, magnetoresistance oscillations are found which may be due to snake-states traversing the sample, when the cyclotron radius is commensurable with the spatial periodicity of the magnetic field.

We have studied the negative magnetoresistance and universal conductance fluctuations ~UCF’s ! in a twodimensional electron gas ~2DEG! grown on substrates with prepatterned, submicrometer dimples. Since the 2DEG is sensitive only to the normal component of B, electrons move in a spatially inhomogeneous ( B perpendicular to the substrate: B’) or sign-alternating random magnetic field (B parallel to the substrate: Bi). Quantum interference effects in a random magnetic field due to the magnetic flux appear only due to second-order effects.
