The steady state non-Newtonian flow, with strain rate dependent viscosity in a thin tube structure, with no slip boundary condition, is considered. Applying the Banach fixed point theorem we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution. An asymptotic approximation is constructed and justified by an error estimate.

The dissertation is dedicated to the simplified theoretical models for fluid flow in the network of thin cylinders. The time-periodic Stokes system was considered in an unbounded domain and the behavior of the solution at infinity was analyzed. The Navier-Stokes equations were considered in the network of thin tubes for 2 different cases: time-periodic with Dirichlet boundary condition, and the stationary one with the Bernoulli pressure boundary condition on the inflows and outflows. For these problems, the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution were proved and the asymptotic expansion was constructed when the diameters of the tubes tended to zero, These results may be applied by modeling the blood flow in the blood vessel network.

The nonstationary Navier-Stokes equations are studied in the infinite cylinder under the additional condition of the prescribed time-periodic flow-rate (flux) F(t). A nonstationary time-periodic Poiseuille solution with prescribed flow-rate is analyzed and the regularity of the solution with minimally regular F(t) is evaluated. The change of the solution's regularity when the regularity of the flow-rate increases is studied.

Solution of the problem is found by resolving an additional linear system of equations of lower order . Structure of the spectrum for difference operator with nonlocal condition is analyzed. In order to analyze stability of two-dimensional parabolic equation with one integral condition the structure of spectrum is analyzed. Influence of nonlocal condition for structure of the spectrum is determined. The finite difference method for elliptic problem is constructed. Darbo tikslas - išnagrinėti dvimatės parabolinio tipo lygties su nelokaliąja integraline sąlyga sprendimą baigtinių skirtumų metodu. Išnagrinėtas kintamųjų krypčių metodo algoritmas tokiam uždaviniui spręsti. Išnagrinėtas dvimatės parabolinės lygties su keliomis nelokaliosiomis integralinėmis kraštinėmis sąlygomis sprendimas kintamųjų krypčių metodu. Uždavinio sprendinys randamas papildomai išsprendžiant neaukštos eilės algebrinę tiesinių lygčių sistemą, kuri sudaroma panaudojant nelokaliąsias integralines sąlygas. Išanalizuota skirtuminio operatoriaus su nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis spektro struktūra. Spektro struktūra išanalizuota tuo tikslu, kad galima būtų išnagrinėti dvimačio parabolinio uždavinio su viena nelokaliąja integraline sąlyga sprendžiamo kintamųjų krypčių ar lokaliai vienmačiu metodu, stabilumą. Nustatyta nelokaliosios sąlygos įtaka spektro struktūrai. Sudarytas elipsinio uždavinio su papildoma nelokaliąja sąlyga sprendimo algoritmas.

Darbo tikslas - išnagrinėti dvimatės parabolinio tipo lygties su nelokaliąja integraline sąlyga sprendimą baigtinių skirtumų metodu. Išnagrinėtas kintamųjų krypčių metodo algoritmas tokiam uždaviniui spręsti. Išnagrinėtas dvimatės parabolinės lygties su keliomis nelokaliosiomis integralinėmis kraštinėmis sąlygomis sprendimas kintamųjų krypčių metodu. Uždavinio sprendinys randamas papildomai išsprendžiant neaukštos eilės algebrinę tiesinių lygčių sistemą, kuri sudaroma panaudojant nelokaliąsias integralines sąlygas. Išanalizuota skirtuminio operatoriaus su nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis spektro struktūra. Spektro struktūra išanalizuota tuo tikslu, kad galima būtų išnagrinėti dvimačio parabolinio uždavinio su viena nelokaliąja integraline sąlyga sprendžiamo kintamųjų krypčių ar lokaliai vienmačiu metodu, stabilumą. The thesis analyzes the third-order one-dimensional pseudoparabolic equations with two types of nonlocal conditions. The stability of difference schemes for this problem was studied using the analysis of the spectrum structure of a difference operator with nonlocal conditions. The analysis of the increased accuracy difference schemes for third-order one-dimensional and two-dimensional pseudoparabolic equations with integral conditions has been made. The thesis considers a two-dimensional pseudoparabolic equation with nonlocal integral conditions in one coordinate direction. This problem was solved by a locally one-dimensional method. The stability of a difference scheme has been investigated based on the spectrum structure. The doctoral disertation investigates three-layer difference schemes for one-dimensional pseudoparabolic equations with various, including nonlocal, conditions. Also, the conditions for the stability of three-layer explicit difference schemes have been explored. Disertacijoje išnagrinėta trečiosios eilės vienmatė pseudoparabolinė lygtis su dviejų tipų nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis. Šiems uždaviniams spręsti sudarytos skirtuminės schemos, kurių stabilumas tiriamas, taikant skirtuminių operatorių su nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis spektro struktūrą. Trečiosios eilės vienmatėms ir dvimatėms pseudoparabolinėms lygtims su integralinėmis sąlygomis sudarytos ir išnagrinėtos padidinto tikslumo skirtuminės schemos. Išnagrinėta dvimatė pseudoparabolinė lygtis su nelokaliosiomis integralinėmis sąlygomis viena koordinačių kryptimi. Tokiam uždaviniui spręsti pritaikytas ir išnagrinėtas lokaliai vienmatis metodas, ištirtos šio metodo stabilumo sąlygos. Taip pat išnagrinėtos: trisluoksnės skirtuminės schemos vienmatei pseudoparabolinei lygčiai su įvairiomis, taip pat ir nelokaliosiomis, sąlygomis; trisluoksnių išreikštinių skirtuminių schemų stabilumo sąlygos.

Disertacijoje išnagrinėta trečiosios eilės vienmatė pseudoparabolinė lygtis su dviejų tipų nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis. Šiems uždaviniams spręsti sudarytos skirtuminės schemos, kurių stabilumas tiriamas, taikant skirtuminių operatorių su nelokaliosiomis sąlygomis spektro struktūrą. In the dissertation one of the Rivlin-Erikson differential type fluids model – the second grade fluids flow problem is considered. The problem is studied in three different unbounded domains: • the two-dimensional channel, • the three-dimensional axially symmetric pipe, • the three-dimensional pipe with an arbitrary cross section. For the two-dimensional channel and the three-dimensional axially symmetric pipe we assume that the initial data and the external force have only the last component and are independent of the coordinate x_n: u_0(x,t)=(0, …, u_{n0}(x’,t)), f(x,t)=(0, …, f_n(x’,t)). We look for an unidirectional (having just the last component) solution u(x,t) =(0, …, u_n(x’,t)), which satisfies the flux condition. Such solution we call Poiseuille type solution. In the first two cases the existence of a unique unidirectional Poiseuille type solution is proved and the relation between the flux of the velocity field and the pressure drop (the gradient of the pressure) is found. The analogous results were obtained for the time periodic problem in the two-dimensional channel. It is shown that in the three-dimensional pipe with an arbitrary cross section the unidirectional solution does not exists even if data are unidirectional. However, for sufficiently small data in this case exists a unique solution having all three components u(x’,t)=( u_1, u_2, u_3). To analyze the problem we use Galerkin method with the special bases. Nagrinėjamas bendresnis atvejis, kai Puazeilio tipo sprendinys priklauso nuo visų trijų komponenčių u(x’,t)=( u_1, u_2, u_3). Disertacijoje įrodyta, kad esant mažiems pradiniams duomenims egzistuoja vienintelis uždavinio sprendinys. Sprendžiant buvo naudojamas Galiorkino aproksimacijų metodas ir specialios bazės.

In the dissertation, second-order and higher-order differential and discrete equations with additional conditions which are described by linearly independent linear functionals are investigated. The solutions to these problems, formulae and the existence conditions of Green's functions are presented, if the general solution of a homogeneous equation is known. The relation between two Green's functions of two nonhomogeneous problems for the same equation but with different additional conditions is obtained. These results are applied to problems with nonlocal boundary conditions. In the introduction the topicality of the problem is defined, the goals and tasks of the research are formulated, the scientific novelty of the dissertation, the methodology of research, the practical value and the significance of the results are presented. m-order differential problem and its Green's function are investigated in the first chapter. The relation between two Green's functions and the existence condition of Green's function are obtained. In the second chapter, the main definitions and results of the first chapter are formulated for the second-order differential equation with additional conditions. In the examples the application of the received results is analyzed for problems with nonlocal boundary conditions in detail. In this thesis we investigate the convergence of Euler's and Yosida approximations of operator semigroups. We obtain asymptotic expansions for Euler's approximations of semigroups with optimal bounds for the remainder terms. We provide various explicit formulas for the coefficients for these expansions. For Yosida approximations of semigroups we obtain two optimal error bounds with optimal constants. We also construct asymptotic expansions for Yosida approximations of semigroups and provide optimal bounds for the remainder terms of these expansions. Disertacijoje tiriamas operatorių pusgrupių Eulerio ir Josidos approximacijų konvergavimas. Gauti Eulerio aproksimacijų asimptotiniai skleidiniai ir optimalūs liekamųjų narių įverčiai. Taip pat pateiktos įvairios šių skleidinių koeficientų analizinės išraiškos. Josidos aproksimacijoms buvo rasti du optimalūs konvergavimo greičio įverčiai su optimaliomis konstantomis. Taip pat gauti Josidos aproksimacijų asimptotiniai skleidiniai ir liekamųjų narių įverčiai.

Disertacijoje tiriamas operatorių pusgrupių Eulerio ir Josidos approximacijų konvergavimas. Gauti Eulerio aproksimacijų asimptotiniai skleidiniai ir optimalūs liekamųjų narių įverčiai. Taip pat pateiktos įvairios šių skleidinių koeficientų analizinės išraiškos. Josidos aproksimacijoms buvo rasti du optimalūs konvergavimo greičio įverčiai su optimaliomis konstantomis. Taip pat gauti Josidos aproksimacijų asimptotiniai skleidiniai ir liekamųjų narių įverčiai. In this thesis we investigate the convergence of Euler's and Yosida approximations of operator semigroups. We obtain asymptotic expansions for Euler's approximations of semigroups with optimal bounds for the remainder terms. We provide various explicit formulas for the coefficients for these expansions. Mathematical models describing the Q-switched laser generation, which is a widely used laser technique for producing short intense pulses of light, belong to the class of semi-nonlinear models where only source terms nonlinearly depend on the solution. Numerical methods for solution of systems of semi-nonlinear partial differential equations have been extensively studied in many papers. Schrödinger-type equations, parabolic-type equations or general diffusion-reaction models arise in nonlinear optics. Such differential problems are solved mainly by finite-difference and Galerkin methods. The convergence analysis is based on the stability analysis of the linearized problems. The construction and theoretical analysis of discrete schemes for one-dimensional problem give a basis for a numerical solution of more general two-dimensional and three-dimensional problems where a diffraction process is taken into account. The two-dimensional problem simulates the dynamics of high-power semiconductor lasers. To solve the problems simulating propagation of photon fluxes in the nonlinear disperse medium, the finite-difference time-domain method is used. However, the major drawback of this method is that the computational domain must be sufficiently large. Tiriami trys pagrindiniai atvejai: bėgančias plokščias bangas aprašantis vienmatis, bėgančias difraguojančias bangas nagrinėjantis dvimatis ir lazerio pluoštų sąveiką netiesinėje Kero terpėje modeliuojantis trimatis modeliai. Šiuos uždavinius sieja pernešimo diferencialinės lygtys dalinėmis išvestinėmis, aprašančios į priešingas puses sklindančias lazerio bangas. Dvimačiame ir trimačiame uždaviniuose sprendžiamos dalinių išvestinių Šrėdingerio (ang. Schrödinger) tipo diferencialinės lygtys. Šiems matematiniams modeliams sudarytos baigtinių skirtumų schemos, atlikta jų analizė ir pagrindimas. Skaitinių eksperimentų realizacijai sukurti lygiagretieji algoritmai, jie yra būtini atliekant didelių resursų reikalaujančius skaičiavimus. Disertaciją sudaro įvadas, keturi skyriai, rezultatų apibendrinimas, naudotos literatūros ir autoriaus publikacijų disertacijos tema sarašai. In the dissertation mathematical modelling problems in the design of electrical cables and cable fibres in modern vehicles, and of the heating of metals or semiconductors by ultra short (pico- or femtosecond) laser pulses are investigated. The problems are described by systems of differential equations and are solved by applying numerical methods. The methodology of problems being solved includes the following mathematical modelling steps: description of formulated problems using mathematical models, selection of model parameters, development and analysis of numerical algorithms (analysis of approximation errors, solution stability, convergence and accuracy), implementation of algorithms, application of parallel algorithms, comparison of mathematical experiments with results obtained in real experiments. The following main objectives are formulated for this thesis: to create mathematical models of the heat exchange in cable fibres and numerical algorithms, which will enable the virtual simulation of temperature distribution in electrical cables and optimization of geometric parameters of cables; to create mathematical models of laser impact on metals and their numerical algorithms allowing the modelling of material heating and removal processes. [to full text] Disertacijoje nagrinėjami elektros kabelių ir kabelių pluoštų projektavimo šiuolaikiniuose automobiliuose, metalų arba puslaidininkių kaitinimo ultratrumpais (piko- arba femtosekundiniais) lazerio impulsais matematinio modeliavimo uždaviniai. Nagrinėjami uždaviniai aprašomi diferencialinėmis lygtimis ir sprendžiami skaitiniais metodais. Nagrinėjamų uždavinių metodiką apima šie matematinio modeliavimo etapai: suformuluotų uždavinių aprašymas matematiniais modeliais, modelių parametrų parinkimas, skaitinių algoritmų sudarymas ir tyrimas (aproksimacijos paklaidų, sprendinio stabilumo, konvergavimo ir tikslumo analizė), algoritmų realizavimas, lygiagrečiųjų algoritmų taikymas, skaičiavimo eksperimentų rezultatų palyginimas su realaus eksperimento rezultatais. Doctoral thesis is devoted to investigation of three problems. The first one deals with the analytic properties and representation in closed or almost closed form of the Stieltjes tranform of the Minkowski question mark function (that is, the generating function of moments, the so called dyadic period function). The main result claims that the dyadic period function can be represented as a convergent series of rational functions with rational coefficients. In the proof the techniques from complex dynamics, analytic theory of continued fractions, the theory of several complex variables are being used. The second problem is dealing with functional equations associated with norm and other forms. It is shown that these functional equations sometimes have other solutions apart from the trivial ones. Finally, we present a new proof of Fermat’s little theorem. Daktaro disertacijoje sprendžiami trys uždaviniai. Pirmasis nagrinėja Minkovskio “klaustuko” funkcijos Stieltjes’o transformacijos (tai yra, šios funkcijos momentų generuojančios funkcijos, taip vadinamosios diadinės periodo funkcijos), analizines savybes ir jos išraišką uždara ar beveik uždara forma. Pagrindinis rezultatas teigia, kad diadinę periodo funkciją galima išreikšti racionaliųjų funkcijų su racionaliaisiais koeficientais konverguojančia eilute. Įrodyme naudojama kompleksinės dinamikos, analizinės grandininių trupmenų teorijos, kelių kompleksinių kintamųjų funkcijų teorijos technika. Antrasis uždavinys nagrinėja funkcines lygtis, susietas su norminėmis ir kitomis kelių kintamųjų formomis. Yra parodoma, kad šios funkcinės lygtys kartais turi kitų, netrivialiųjų sprendinių. Galiausiai, yra pateikiamas naujas mažosios Fermat teoremos įrodymas.

Darbe nagrinėtas skysčio tekėjimas laminariniame pasienio sluoksnyje. Skysčio tekėjimo greičio vektoriaus komponentės yra išreiškiamos tokiomis lygtimis v1 ir v2. Atsižvelgiant į hidrodinamikos dėsnius, prie šių lygčių yra pridedamos kraštinės sąlygos: v1=v2=0, kai x1≥0, x2=0, v1=U, kai x2→±∞. Gautas uždavinys buvo nagrinėtas matematiniu paketu MathCAD 13. Skaitiškai gauti rezultatai patvirtina teorines žinias apie skysčio tekėjimą laminariniame pasienio sluoksnyje. Iš darbe gautų grafikų galime daryti konkrečias išvadas apie sprendinio elgesį. The laminar boundary layer flow of the incompressible liquid over semi – infinite flat plate is discussed. Components of the velocity vector are expressed in the form v1 and v2. In accordance with hydrodynamic laws the following boundary conditions are prescribed v1=v2=0, when x1≥0, x2=0, v1=U as x2→±∞. The problem was analyzed numerically using MathCAD 13. The obtained numerical results confirm the theoretical results about in laminar boundary layer flow of a viscous incompressible liquid. From the diagrams that are shown in the diploma work one can make certain specific conclusions about the behavior of the flow.

The research area of current PhD thesis is the analysis of time periodic Navier-Stokes equations in domains with cylindrical outlets to infinity. The objects of investigation is so called non-statonary Poiseuille solution in the straight cylinder and Navier-Stokes equations in system of cylinders. Disertacijoje nagrinėjami Navjė-Stokso lygčių periodiniai laiko atžvilgiu uždaviniai srityse su cilindriniais išėjimais į begalybę. Pagrindiniai tyrimo objektai yra taip vadinami Puazelio sprendiniai tiesiame cilindre ir Stokso, bei Navjė-Stokso lygčių sistemos cilindrų sistemoje.
