Software needs and requirements change over time as application developers fine-tune and expand the features of a software product. When the software is changed to meet these new requirements, some data structures need to be added and existing ones need to be altered or evolved. This paper describes an implementation of a sophisticated, dynamically evolving schema. The schema definition supports single and multiple inheritance, fixed length arrays, built-in strings, instances of objects and pointers to other objects. The sample implementation in this report is geared towards an object database.

This document provides a general overview of cross-platform development using the C++ programming language, including motivating factors, the problems involved, and simple solutions to the most common pitfalls. This document will also compare and contrast some of the most common commercial and freeware development tool kits which are advertised as cross-platform solutions and discuss how to fill in the elements these tool kits don't provide. This document approaches cross-platform development using the single source cross-platform development model.

Most applications require that users can customize features, This report presents a preference design pattern that solves that requirement. The design pattern provides two main features: generic GUI editing and serialization. The report also defines possible C++ implementation issues and proposes possible solutions. The Appendix contains a partial code listing for a C++ implementation of the design pattern.
