- Abstract
The most important factor that complicates the work of dysmorphologists is the significant phenotypic variability of the human face. Next-Generation Phenotyping (NGP) tools that assist clinicians with recognizing characteristic syndromic patterns are particularly challenged when confronted with patients from populations different from their training data. To that end, we systematically analyzed the impact of genetic ancestry on facial dysmorphism. For that purpose, we established the GestaltMatcher Database (GMDB) as a reference dataset for medical images of patients with rare genetic disorders from around the world. We collected 10,980 frontal facial images - more than a quarter previously unpublished - from 8,346 patients, representing 581 rare disorders. Although the predominant ancestry is still European (67%), data from underrepresented populations have been increased considerably via global collaborations (19% Asian and 7% African). This includes previously unpublished reports for more than 40% of the African patients. The NGP analysis on this diverse dataset revealed characteristic performance differences depending on the composition of training and test sets corresponding to genetic relatedness. For clinical use of NGP, incorporating non-European patients resulted in a profound enhancement of GestaltMatcher performance. The top-5 accuracy rate increased by +11.29%. Importantly, this improvement in delineating the correct disorder from a facial portrait was achieved without decreasing the performance on European patients. By design, GMDB complies with the FAIR principles by rendering the curated medical data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. This means GMDB can also serve as data for training and benchmarking. In summary, our study on facial dysmorphism on a global sample revealed a considerable cross ancestral phenotypic variability confounding NGP that should be counteracted by international efforts for increasing data diversity. With the rising impact of climate change on agriculture, insect-borne diseases are proliferating. There is a need to monitor the appearance of new vectors to take preventive actions that allow us to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and treatment costs. Thus, agriculture requires advanced monitoring tools for early pest and disease detection. This work presents a new concept design for a scalable, interoperable and cost-effective smart trap that can digitize daily images of crop-damaging insects and send them to the cloud server. However, this procedure can consume approximately twenty megabytes of data per day, which can increase the network infrastructure costs and requires a large bandwidth. Thus, a two-stage system is also proposed to locally detect and count insects. In the first stage, a lightweight approach based on the SVM model and a visual descriptor is used to classify and detect all regions of interest (ROIs) in the images that contain the insects. Instead of the full image, only the ROIs are then sent to a second stage in the pest monitoring system, where they will be classified. This approach can reduce, by almost 99%, the amount of data sent to the cloud server. Additionally, the classifier will identify unclassified insects in each ROI, which can be sent to the cloud for further training. This approach reduces the internet bandwidth usage and helps to identify unclassified insects and new threats. In addition, the classifier can be trained with supervised data on the cloud and then sent to each smart trap. The proposed approach is a promising new method for early pest and disease detection. Pollination is a crucial reproductive process that underpins crop yield and quality as well as sustains other ecosystem services essential for our planet's life. Insects are the largest group of pollinators, particularly bees, handling the pollination of 71 of the 100 crops that contribute to 90% of the world's food supply. Nevertheless, both biotic and abiotic factors exert considerable influence on bee behaviour, which in turn affects the pollination process. Moreover, the alarming decline in bee populations and other essential insect pollinators presents a major challenge to natural pollination. This work focuses on Actinidia, a dioecious plant, i.e., with female and male flowers on separate plants, which introduces entropy into the pollination phase. In this plant, the number of pollinated seeds directly influences the size of Actinidia fruits (kiwi), so the success of the pollination phase is fundamental. However, natural pollination in Actinidia is mainly entomophilic, i.e., by insects. Hence, the exploration of alternative approaches becomes essential. To address this need, there has been a growing interest in robotic solutions for pollination, which include several tools to perform pollination. This research investigates the existing technologies for conducting artificial pollination procedures. It involves a comprehensive examination of various methods outlined in the literature, thoroughly analysing their strengths and weaknesses. The ultimate objective is to provide valuable insights and guidance to enhance the efficacy of artificial pollination processes [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
One of the main premises of the Dentistry curricular guidelines is the integration of knowledge, bringing together the basic, clinical and public health areas. The aim of this research was to understand how the contents of the ‚basic cycle‛ contribute to dentists’ academic training. A qualitative study was performed, and developed through interviews of focal groups consisting of students from 2nd to 4th semester. The analysis produced five categories: decontextualization of social sciences, curricular structure, the gap between the basic and professional cycles, student resignation to the ‚basic cycle‛, and teachers at the core of the process. It was concluded that the dichotomy between the basic and professional cycles complicates curricular integration and compromises students' commitment to their graduation. As a result, it is necessary to incorporate the principles provided in the Dentistry curricular guidelines, such as students’ proactive behavior towards the learning process and the teacher's role as a facilitator., Una de las principales premisas de las directrices curriculares de Odontología es la integración de conocimientos, articulando áreas básicas, clínicas y de salud pública.

Changes in the labor Dentistry demonstrate a transformation in the market, in practice and in the formation of dentists. A new professional is necessary to meet the health needs of society, with focus on attention to oral health with the epidemiological reality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the insertion of the graduates of Dentistry in Natal -RN in the labor market and its relationship with the curriculum and continuing education activities. The survey was developed through self-administered questionnaire composed of variables related to the time of entry into the labor market, participation in postgraduate actions developed over graduation, employability and job satisfaction. Results demonstrated that the private service is also a major employer, fact that determines the professional profile and supports the great predominance of clinical disciplines in the curriculum. The student's participation in complementary activities sets up essential strategies for future job prospects, as well as curricular flexibility. Despite the transition foreseen in the prospects of universal public access to oral health transition, great efforts are needed in continuing education for dentistry to reach its valued space in society and effectively fulfill their role as health care profession.

Ensino. Docentes de Odontologia. Desenvol-vimento de Pessoal. Odontologia ,Teaching. Faculty Dental. Staff Develop-ment. Dentistry - Abstract
There is recognition of the need for change in education of health professionals to face the need to train professionals able to respond to social demands and bring with it higher quality of life for the population. For this, it is essential to discuss how the teacher fits in this context since it is their responsibility for the conduct of the educational process. The aim of this study was to analyze the perception of undergraduate students of dentistry at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) about the role of the teacher in the teaching -learning process. This is a qualitative study, conducted by the technique of focus groups composed of regular students of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 9th periods/semesters, in the year 2012. Respondent students em phasized the teacher as largely responsible for their learning, in so being in the center of the teaching-learning process. In analysis of the data, four categories emerged: methodology adopted by the teacher, teacher / student relationship as influential in the learning process, lack of autonomy for the student, and teacher training. The study showed that the teacher is still kept in the center of the teaching process according to the passivity of students in not taking their role as co-responsible for their learning, possibly because of the stance taken by the teacher, focused more on technique and with little basis in active teaching methodologies. In other words, not enough hands-on learning methodologies/activities are being implemented by the teachers.

The Brazilian public health system is deficient and doesn't fully meet the needs of the population. As a result, the private health care market has grown in recent years, which has changed the role of the state from executive to regulator of that sector. Regulation includes tackling the economic and financial issue. Our study aimed to identify the behavior of financing strategies adopted by medical cooperatives and group medicines to meet the regulatory benchmarks of the supplementary health care sector in Brazil. The survey results show that the mandatory Guaranteeing Assets (Ativos Garantidores, AG), 1st regulatory moment, resulted in a significant increase of both the overall and the long term indebtedness indexes, which reveals the use of Third-party capital instead of Equity capital. Only the Medical Cooperatives featured increased Overall Indebtedness, which means that the Medical Cooperatives, unlike Group Medicines, are capitalized by third party funds rather than by Equity Capital. Both modalities adopted the strategy of increasing their long-term debt and reducing their short term debt (debt composition). With the introduction of the Health Guarantor Fund (Fundo Garantidor da Saúde, FGS), 2nd regulatory moment, the Overall and Current Liquidity indexes decreased, showing that the goal of the FGS program to reduce financial guarantees and to improve working capital wasn't met. Medical Cooperatives managed to reduce their overall debt, whereas the overall debt of Group Medicines increased. We conclude that there was a balance between the Indebtedness indexes and Liquidity over the period and that operators who wish to remain in the market must comply with the rules, adapting and improving the quality of their management

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior This Master s thesis presents a discussion on customer satisfaction models investigating the relations of antecedent variables service quality, price index, complaint handling, image, affective and calculative commitment, with satisfaction and loyalty. The scope of the research is the influence of service dimensions in the car buyer s satisfaction and loyalty. A sample of 91 customers was surveyed among new cars buyers of one brand in Natal city, Brazil, and the data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The literature review covers subjects such as customer satisfaction, management system, customer satisfaction measurement index models. The main findings suggest that satisfaction with the car brand is mainly influenced by customization of the service, time for accomplishing servicing, and the way the dealer handle complains. Regarding the dealer itself the main variable related to satisfaction is also time for accomplishing servicing. Considering customer loyalty, the customer satisfaction with the dealer explain strongly the loyalty with the brand/manufacturer. Also, the satisfaction, affective commitment and complains handling were found related to loyalty, as the stronger variables explaining the loyalty variance. One main conclusion is that service provided by dealers is one key factor influencing the customer satisfaction and loyalty in auto industry Esta tese de Mestrado apresenta uma discussão a modelos de satisfação do cliente, investigando as associações das variáveis antecedentes (qualidade do serviço, preço, gestão de reclamações, imagem da empresa e compromisso afetivo e calculado) com satisfação e fidelidade do cliente.

One of the main premises of the Dentistry curricular guidelines is the integration of knowledge, bringing together the basic, clinical and public health areas. The aim of this research was to understand how the contents of the, basic cycle contribute to dentists' academic training. A qualitative study was performed, and developed through interviews of focal groups consisting of students from 2nd to 4th semester. The analysis produced five categories: decontextualization of social sciences, curricular structure, the gap between the basic and professional cycles, student resignation to the, basic cycle, and teachers at the core of the process. It was concluded that the dichotomy between the basic and professional cycles complicates curricular integration and compromises students' commitment to their graduation. As a result, it is necessary to incorporate the principles provided in the Dentistry curricular guidelines, such as students' proactive behavior towards the learning process and the teacher's role as a facilitator.
GMDB will serve as a vital reference database for clinicians and a transparent training set for advancing NGP technology.
