This study aimed to summarize the current knowledge on the benefits of In vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection with preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) and to discuss the role of PGT-A in patients of different ages undergoing assisted reproduction. A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 checklist. Registration number: CRD42022354697. Studies were identified by searching the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, Scopus, Embase, and ClinicalTrials databases. Seven meta-analyses were performed with additional stratification of age and prognosis of the women studied. Clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer in patients aged >35 years was higher in the PGT-A group (P=0.0002) than in controls. Live birth rate (LBR) per embryo transfer in women 35 years old or younger (P=0.002) was higher in the PGT-A group. The LBR per patient in women aged >35 years was higher in the PGT-A group (P=0.004). The effects of PGT-A on LBR in patients with poor prognosis showed a statistically significant increase (P=0.003). There was no significant difference in the rate between the two groups. PGT-A is effective and can be recommended for patients aged >35 years undergoing assisted reproduction to improve their reproductive outcomes. Moreover, our study showed the possible benefits of PGT-A in patients with a poor prognosis. Overall, our findings suggest that PGT-A is a valuable tool for improving the reproductive outcomes of assisted reproductive procedures in older women and those with a history of pregnancy complications.

Spinal arachnoid web (AW) is a rare condition causing spinal cord-related issues. Its cause is often idiopathic but can be linked to past trauma or spine surgery. We describe two cases of AWs that developed after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Case #1 is a 71-year-old male with nonaneurysmal SAH who developed myelopathy 1 year later. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed upper thoracic cord edema and an AW. Case #2 is a 57-year-old female who underwent coiling of a ruptured basilar artery aneurysm and ventriculoperitoneal shunting for hydrocephalus. Twenty months later, she developed mid-thoracic AW requiring surgical resection. Both patients showed symptom improvement postresection avoiding further reoperation. History of SAH is emerging as a risk factor for AW development, emphasizing the importance of monitoring delayed-onset myelopathy and back pain in recent SAH patients.

Background and Aim: With the emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), antiviral drug development has gained increased significance due to the high incidence and potentially severe complications of the resulting coronavirus infection. Heterocycle compounds, acting as antimetabolites of DNA and RNA monomers, rank among the most effective antiviral drugs. These compounds’ antiviral effects on various SARS-CoV-2 isolates, as found in existing data collections, form the basis for further research. The aim of this study was to examine the possible antiviral effect of some originally synthesized heterocyclic compounds. Materials and Methods: The main methods were cell culturing, cytotoxicity assay, qRT-PCR assay, tissue and blood cells analysis, and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging. Results: In both in vitro and in vivo conditions, the elimination of SARS-Cov-2 occurred significantly earlier after administration of the compounds compared to the control group. In hamsters, the primary symptoms of coronavirus disease disappeared following administration of heterocycle compounds. Conclusion: Using delta and omicron strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, newly created heterocycle compound analogs dramatically reduced SARS-CoV-2 multiplication, resulting in a drop in viral RNA load in the supernatant under in vitro conditions. Improvements in pathological manifestations in the blood, bone marrow, and internal organs of hamsters demonstrated that heterocycle compounds inhibited SARS-CoV-2 replication both in vitro and in vivo.

Congenital anomalies of the female genital tract account for 14% of all congenital malformations and 3–7% of gynecological disorders in children and adolescents. Currently, there are a number of unresolved issues related to the systematization and diagnosis of such anomalies. The article presents an up-to-date and carefully selected information on this topic and highlights existing difficulties that require further study. The literature review is aimed at searching for relevant classifications and modern diagnostics for congenital anomalies of the female genital tract for further personalized treatment tactics. Literature analysis has shown that the etiology and pathogenesis of congenital anomalies of the female genital tract are complex, heterogeneous and understudied. To date, there is no single generally accepted classification of congenital anomalies of the female genital tract, while the proposed article presents modern methods for diagnosing this pathology and the subtleties concerning the results interpreting for a correct diagnosis. Ultrasound-assisted green syntheses of novel potentially bioactive pyrimidine derivatives have been carried out. The same compounds were obtained by conventional methods of synthesis, and the reaction times and yields of final products obtained by these two methods were compared. It was found that the time of utrasound-promoted reactions was reduced by almost 6–96 times, and their yields were equal or turn out to be greater compared to the traditional approach. The synthesized compounds showed a pronounced stimulating effect on plant growth. The most active derivatives were selected for deeper biological studies and subsequent field trials.

Background: Bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC) is a persistent pain perceived in the urinary bladder region, accompanied by at least one symptom, such as pain worsening with bladder filling and daytime or nighttime urinary frequency without any proven infection or obvious pathology. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pentosan polysulfate (PPS) in patients with BPS/IC. Methods: Systematic search was performed by PRISMA checklist. Electronic databases, including PubMed and Cochrane library, were checked until 2021 using keywords: ‘pentosan polysulfate’, ‘pain syndrome’, ‘interstitial cystitis’, and bibliography of relevant papers was checked. Inclusion criteria: Patients with confirmed diagnosis of BPS/IC and cystoscopy criteria – Hunner’s lesions. Exclusion criteria included hypersensitivity, pregnancy, lactation, and oral therapy for BPS/IC in the period of 1 month before the study and abstracts or unpublished papers. Results: In total, 13 clinical trials were included in systematic review and 7 were included in meta-analysis. Studies evaluated the effectiveness and safety of oral PPS versus placebo or other treatment options. In the first meta-analysis, three studies compared oral PPS with placebo: [relative risk (RR) = 2.07, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.37–3.13, p = 0.0006]. The second meta-analysis of two studies compared oral PPS with another treatment options (intravesical liposome and CyA): (RR = 0.44, 95% CI: 0.10–1.93, p = 0.28). The third meta-analysis of two studies included intravesical regimen of PPS compared with intravesical placebo: (RR = 1.09, 95% CI: 0.54–2.22, p = 0.80). The majority of studies do not report any particular serious side effects. Conclusion: PPS treatment has a statistically significant effect over placebo on the subjective improvement of patients with BPS/IC. There was no difference between PPS and other treatment options. Intravesical regimen of PPS had no significant impact on response rates. None of included studies reported severe side effects after intervention.

Introduction: We sought to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to evaluate the impact of myo-inositol on oocyte and embryo quality in women undergoing assisted reproduction. Methods: The systematic review was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 checklist (registration number: CRD42023433328). Studies were identified by searching PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, Scopus, Embase, and ClinicalTrials databases. Results: Eight RCTs were included for qualitative analysis reporting on 820 participants. Four meta-analyses were performed. Numbers of retrieved oocytes in comparison of intervention and control group were higher in inositol group (mean difference [MD] = 0.41, 95% CI: 0.05–0.77, p = 0.02). Meta-analysis of two studies comparing numbers of oocytes among poor ovarian responder patients showed no significant difference between intervention and control group (MD = 0.50, 95% CI: 0.57–1.58, p = 0.36). Miscarriage rate has no statistically significant difference between the treatment and control groups (risk ratios [RRs] = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.20–3.32, p = 0.77). Inositol played no role in improving clinical pregnancy rates; there was no significant difference between the intervention group and the control group (RR = 1.41, 95% CI: 0.88–2.25, p = 0.15). Conclusion: Thus, we did not find any benefits of using myo-inositol on oocyte and embryo quality in women undergoing reproductive technologies. Objectives: To evaluate the effect of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) on skin aging in menopausal women. Methods: Studies were identified by searching PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases using the key words "hormone replacement therapy" AND "skin" AND "menopausal." Studies that used and compared oral/transdermal MHT with placebo or another type of treatment in menopausal women aged 45-55 years were selected. Results: From 1,526 studies identified, 15 studies comprising 1,589 patients were included in the final analysis. Our meta-analysis aimed to compare skin elasticity (standard [Std] mean difference = 0.28; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.03-0.54; P = 0.03), skin thickness (Std. mean difference = 1.27; 95% CI, 0.88-1.66; P < 0.00001), collagen content (Std. mean difference = 2.01; 95% CI, 1.42-2.61; P < 0.00001), and skin dryness (Std. mean difference = 0.15; 95% CI, -0.05 to 0.35; P = 0.14). Conclusions: MHT increases elasticity and collagen content in the skin, thereby reducing the severity of wrinkles and increasing skin thickness. Nevertheless, more well-conducted clinical trials are required to answer all questions in an evidence-based manner. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
