SUMMARY: Seed production of corn in Republic of Croatia (HR) today is reduced in the relation on the period before Croatian War for Independence. Production of corn seed in HR from 1981. until 1986. had been from 14.000 till 21.000 tons per year. From 1989. - 2001. it is reduced on just the 8000 tons per year. Today HR has 13 processing centres with the capacity approximately the 50.000 tons of seed. Utilisation of these capacities is now only about 40 %. Such decrease of corn seed production are caused by reduction of market (less surfaces under the corn production in HR) and reduced export of hybrid corn seed. Before HR War for Independence, HR participated in the total export of seeds of ex. Yugoslavia with approximates 35-40 % of complete quantities. The largest export of corn seeds had been 1983., with the approximately 10.700 ton. Export of seed of BC, OS and KWS varieties had been to the East European market, while the seed of Pioneer, SES and part of KWS varieties was exported on the West European market. Today, production of hybrid HR is near 5000 ha (in the world is approximately 1 mil. ha) with the export of seed approximately the 3.500 tons. Biggest amount of corn seed today is exported in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia and Turkey. The total value of corn seed production is approximately 20 mil. Euro. Export of seeds should be the basic strategic aim in the program of development of seed branch, because surfaces which is ocupated with mercantile corn (approximately 400.000 ha) can not completely employ capacities for the seed production.

Prolaktinom je najčešći tumor hipofize koji značajno remeti hormonsku aktivnost i reproduktivnu funkciju, zbog čega rana i točna dijagnostika imaju osobitu važnost. Ispitivano je 39 bolesnika s prolaktinomom. Ukupno 16 bolesnika, tj. 41% ( 14 žena i 2 muškarca9imali su mikroprolaktinom, a 23, tj. 59% ( 15 žena i 8 muškaraca)makroprolaktinom. Vodeći klinički simptomi u žena s mikroprolaktinomom su poremećaj menstruacijskog ciklusa (71%), glavobolja (79%), oštećenje vida ( 64%), mučnina ( 50%) i povraćanje (43%), a zanimljivo je da nema značajne razlike u učestalosti simptoma kod makroprolaktinoma. U skupini mikroprolaktinoma prosječna bazalna (X±SE) prolaktina u žena je 105.3±21.96 ng/ml i u jednog muškarca 47 ng/ml, a u skupini makroprolaktinoma u žena 190±47.8 ng/ml, a u muškaraca 1101.71±662.9 ng/ml. Značenje je funkcionalnih endokrinoloških testova u dijagnostici prolaktinoma vrlo veliko. U ispitivanju su primijenjeni stimulacijski testovi (TRH, LHRH, inzulinska hipoglikemija, vazopresin, sulpirid) i supresijski testovi (L-DOPA, bromokriptin). Tumoer je odstranjen kirurškim putom u 29 bolesnika: u 8 s mikroprolaktinomom i u 21 s makroprolaktinomom, najčešće transsfenoidalnim pristupom (93%). Bromokriptinom su liječene 3 bolesnice s mikroprolaktinomom i 1 bolesnik s makroprolaktinomom, a 11 ih je liječeno kombinacijom kirurške i medikamentozne terapije ( 2 mikroprolaktinoma i 9 makroprolaktinoma). Postoperativno se nalaze 2/6.9%) rezidue i 4(13.8%) recidiva prolaktinoma, a reoperirana su 4 bolesnika. Nakon ablacije adenoma hipofize u 9 bolesnika (31%) nalazimo hipopituitarizam, dok je tranzitorni dijabetes insipidus imalo 5 bolesnika, a trajni 2, tj. 6.9 %.

Six children from 3 families with ACTH insensitivity and associated nervous system disorders are described. Five of them in whom radiographs were available at the time of diagnosis, showed extremely decreased bone density. Osteoporosis has been not previously described in patients with ACTH insensitivity. We assumed that it is at least partly result of decreased adrenal androgen production established in our patients. HLA typing was performed. This syndrome is not linked to HLA complex, or associated with some specific HLA antigens.
