Abstract: Results of post-Chernobyl measurement on some foodstuff samples /eggs, meat, fruit, honey, medicinal herbs/ from South-Eastern Roumania are presented. Gamma-ray spectrometry was used; the radioactive concentration values are given in nCi.kg–1ldquowetrdquo weight. A strong decrease in concentrations for eggs from 6–7 May /3.0–7.4 nCi for131I, 0.25–0.40 nCi for134Cs, 0.40–0.85 nCi for137Cs per one egg, mainly in the yolk/ to 19–25 May /0.3–1.0 nCi for131I, 0.15–0.25 nCi for134Cs, 0.25–0.40 nCi for137Cs/ was observed. The mean values for lamb meat /joint muscle/ were 500 nCi.kg–1 for131I, 12 nCi.kg–1 for134Cs, 22 nCi.kg–1 for137Cs /18–25 May/. Relatively reduced values were found for fruits, e.g. compared to dairy products1. In May–June 1986, the food consumption in Roumania was strictly limited and controlled by competent authorities.

The two short-lived isomeric states in112In have been reinvestigated by means of the112Cd(d, 2n) and109Ag (a, n) reactions. Measurements of delayed X- and?-ray, lifetime and TDPAD spectra have been performed. A 6.32(3) keV?-ray has been identified in the isomeric decay and anM1 multipolarity has been assigned to it on the basis of the measured internal conversion coefficients:aL=196(39) andatot=231(35). TheE1+M2(d =+0.24(4)) andE2 multipolarities have been determined for the 263 and 188 keV transitions deexciting the 8-(T1/2=2.82(2) µs) and 7+ (T1/2=0.93(2) µs) isomeric states, respectively. A revised isomeric decay scheme is presented.

The reaction89Y(α, 2n γ) was used to populate excited states in91Nb. The de-excitation of these states was studied by in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy, involving the measurement of excitation functions, angular distributions and life-times. A 17/2− isomeric state at 2034 keV and withT1/2=3.8±0.2 μs was observed; it is interpreted as the highest-spin state of the {(g9/2)2 (p1/2)} proton configuration. The experimental results are compared with other published data and with shell-model calculations.
