Organic-molecular magnets based on a metal-organic framework with chemically tuned electronic and magnetic properties have been attracting tremendous attention due to their promising applications in molecular magnetic sensors, magnetic particle medicines, molecular spintronics, etc. Here, we investigated the magnetic behavior of a heterojunction comprising a ferromagnetic nickel (Ni) film and an organic semiconductor (OSC) 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4-TCNQ) layer. Through the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE), a photoemission electron microscopy (PEEM), X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), we found that the adsorption of F4-TCNQ on Cu(100)/Ni not only reverses the in-plane magnetization direction originally exhibited by the Ni layer but also results in enhanced magnetic ordering. Furthermore, the cyano group (CN) in adsorbed F4-TCNQ was found spin-polarized along with conspicuous charge transfer with Ni. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the experimentally found spin polarization originates from hybridization between the CN group's π orbitals and Ni's d band. These findings signify that the hybrid states at the organic-ferromagnet interface play a key role in tailoring the magnetic behavior of interfaces. For the case of the F4-TCNQ and Ni heterojunction reported here, interface coupling is an antiferromagnetic one.

The rapid increase in user-generated social contents posted on social networks causes big data analysis issues. For the huge social contents intangibly interpreted by machines, we propose a system to transform unstructured data into structured data, and then to mine them further. The system interprets user-generated social contents by annotating semantic terms on them to help users or applications explore further social information in social networks. First, it collects news from the New York Times and through external knowledge bases DBpedia and WordNet, it builds global ontology. By this, the system identifies social contents and generates a social content repository annotating semantic terms. Finally, the Twitter-based social content mining system is implemented and used to search relevant social contents on Twitter.

The orbital hybridization between organic molecule 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8 -tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4-TCNQ) and ferromagnetic nickel (Ni) metals via conspicious bidirectional charge transfer induces organic magnetization. Figure 1(a) shows the surface magnetic anisotropy performed by the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) displays magnetic hardening in longitudinal plane upon F4-TCNQ adsorption, especially at low coverage Ni surface (9 ML). The magnetic domains inspected by photoelectron-emission microscope (PEEM) measurements also shown in Fig. 1(b) exhibits improved magnetic ordering at 9 ML Ni with larger domain sizes and less domain boundary. The X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) reveals the orbital and spin moment of in-plane Ni is significantly increased (MCD increase from 2.32% to 5.96% and 0% to 4.9% when F4-TCNQ deposited on at 9 and 20ML, respectively), while that keep almost unaltered at out-of-plane. The increased in-plane MCD can be also found in N in F4-TCNQ when F4-TCNQ deposited on 9 and 20ML Ni. (MCD increase from 0% to 4.9% and 9.31% to 11.1% when F4-TCNQ deposited on at 9 and 20ML, respectively) The hybridization yields an improved magnetic order at interface that might faciliate the spin injection and transport in spintronic devices.

The objective of this investigation was to yield a generalized in silico model to quantitatively predict CYP2A6-substrates/inhibitors interactions to facilitate drug discovery.The newly invented pharmacophore ensemble/support vector machine (PhE/SVM) scheme was employed to generate the prediction model based on the data compiled from the literature.The predictions by the PhE/SVM model are in good agreement with the experimental observations for those molecules in the training set (n = 24, r (2) = 0.94, q (2) = 0.85, RMSE = 0.30) and the test set (n = 9, r (2) = 0.96, RMSE = 0.29). In addition, this in silico model performed equally well for those molecules in the external validation sets, namely one set of benzene and naphthalene derivatives (n = 45, r (2) = 0.81, RMSE = 0.46) and one set of amine neurotransmitters (n = 4, r (2) = 0.98, RMSE = 0.32). Furthermore, when compared with crystal structures, the calculated results are consistent with the published CYP2A6-substrate co-complex structure and the plasticity nature of CYP2A6 is also revealed.This PhE/SVM model is an accurate and robust model and can be utilized for predicting interactions with CYP2A6, high-throughput screening and data mining to facilitate drug discovery.

We present a design and implementation of a prototype system of the hard disk based portable entertainment device called photo jukebox based on an ARM-based system for managing thousands of personal photo/music collections anywhere you go. This photo jukebox system is designed as a music-centric entertainment player, slideshow player, and digital photo storage with built-in metadata database. In addition, this photo jukebox comes with a host application on computer for managing and synchronizing the contents seamlessly. In addition, based on this system, we have applied for a process of user-centered design. Therefore, the ease of use of its user interface was investigated using the human computer interaction (HCI) methods of heuristic evaluation and usability testing. The user interface was subsequently modified, and a follow-up usability test confirmed improvements to ease of use. These findings demonstrate that HCI methods can and should be used to enhance the usability of handheld-based entertainment hardware. At last, we will explore how we conduct the configurable dynamic power management based on different user profiles to enhance the battery life on such multimedia devices.
