Background: Hypertension (HT) progression and complications depend on blood pressure levels. Managing blood pressure can reduce complications, increase well-being and improve quality of life. Purpose: The study examined how an app-based self-management programme affected HT patients' blood pressure. Methods: The Police General Hospital in Thailand employed a randomised controlled trial design between June 2022 and June 2023. Forty-eight people were randomly split into two groups using permuted blocks: the control group (n = 24) and the experimental group (n = 24). The experimental group monitored their blood pressure for 4 weeks using a combination of apps and the phone, whereas the control group received standard care. The information was gathered by measuring blood pressure. Descriptive statistics and t -tests for independence were employed to analyse the data. Results: The independent t -test results revealed a statistically significant reduction in the systolic blood pressure levels of the experimental group after the intervention (t = 2.945, df = 46, p = 0.005). However, no significant decrease was observed in the diastolic blood pressure levels of the experimental group after the intervention (t = 0.877, df = 46, p = 0.385). Conclusion: This study provides evidence for the effectiveness of a self-management programme utilising a mobile application in reducing blood pressure levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is no single study that has examined nursing research priorities in Vietnam. This study aimed to gain consensus from experts on the nursing research priorities in Vietnam.

Background: The prevalence of persons with hypertension remains high, especially in Southeast Asia, such as in Indonesia. Therefore, an effort to control blood pressure is needed. This study aimed to examine the effect of a self-management program on blood pressure among persons with hypertension in Indonesia. Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental study with pre-test post-test with control group design was used. Seventy-seven participants were selected using convenience sampling in Belitung, Indonesia. A digital sphygmomanometer was used to measure blood pressure. Paired t-test and independent t-test were used for data analysis. Knowledge of hypertension, diet, exercise, and medication records were measured via validated questionnaires and observation sheets. Results: There was a significant effect of the eight-week self-management program on systolic blood pressure (t30 = 6.45, p = 0.01) and diastolic blood pressure (t30 = 2.53, p = 0.02). A significant difference in blood pressure was also identified between the experiment and control group, particularly in systolic blood pressure (t59 = --2.89, p = 0.05) with a large effect size (0.71). Conclusions: Brisk walking with a duration of at least 30 minutes per day, dietary modification program specifically focusing on weight loss and anti-hypertensive food, monitoring program, and health education for eight weeks, are considered effective to control blood pressure among patients with hypertension, and these interventions should be a part of nursing interventions and sustainable health development programs in the community. Hospital readmissions for heart failure are a major clinical problem and associated financial burden. However, readmission rate in heart failure remains high. This study aimed to test a model explaining the factors influencing readmission in people with heart failure. In total, 204 patients with heart failure were recruited at four regional hospitals in Thailand. All research instruments used showed acceptable validity and reliability. The data were analyzed using version 8.72 of Linear Structural Relationship. The results showed that the hypothetical model matched the empirical data. The severity of symptoms was the factor that had the most impact on readmission and had a direct positive effect on readmission, followed by quality of life and depression. An intervention study to prevent readmission in heart failure patients should be developed and tested as well. It should incorporate the promotion of social support and quality of life to reduce readmission in heart failure patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Coronary artery disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality with high readmission rates. Hospital readmissions for coronary artery disease contribute to rising healthcare costs and are a marker of quality of care. Despite this, prior studies have found that readmission rates vary widely. Aims: This study aims to determine the impact of social support, depression, comorbidities, symptom severity, quality of life and readmission among coronary artery disease patients in Thailand. Methods: A total of 321 coronary artery disease patients from tertiary care hospitals across all regions of Thailand were recruited for this study. Data were analysed using multiple regression analysis. Results: The coefficient for social support (beta=-0.22) was found to be significant (p<0.05), whereas comorbidity, symptom severity, depression and quality of life were not significant. Thus, social support was found to be the most significant predictive factor for readmission. Conclusions: Accordingly, when designing effective nursing interventions, nurses should promote social support interventions for coronary artery disease patients to improve the quality of care, decrease readmission rates and improve patients' quality of life.
