The problems associated with the global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions from human activities are driving the search for new technologies to reduce CO2 emissions from the fossil fuel combustion. Hydrogen is a clean and efficient energy carrier, so the hydrogen energy is considered as one of the strategic directions for the development of the energy security and sustainability. Although hydrogen can be produced by electrolysis of water, most of the hydrogen produced worldwide currently comes from steam reforming of natural gas, which must be purified to ultra-high purity for economic reasons. Traditional methods based on pressure swing absorption-desorption using cryogenic distillation are energy intensive, which motivates the development of new highly selective and energy efficient H2 purification technologies. Such technologies include rapidly developing membrane technology, which at the moment has not yet reached the level required for its widespread industrial application. In this review article, we analyze the main aspects of current research in the field of hydrogen purification technology using dense metal membranes, with an emphasis on their technological stability due to the selection of their chemical composition (including multicomponent) and optimization of the structural state. We also considered the prospects for further development and use of this technology for economic needs.

The stability of high-entropy alloys, like equiatomic and non-equiatomic micro- and nanostructural ones, is relevant when creating stable multicomponent compositions with improved performance. The implementation of such materials is possible by mechanical alloying, magnetron sputtering, as well as by the electrochemical method using the «top-down and bottom-to-top» strategy at moderate temperatures < 200°C with controlled production of both micro-from 0,5 to 20 μm and nanoscale high-entropy alloys with particles from 2 to 10 nm. The well-studied «structure-property» relationship for classical alloys is not yet completely clear for nano-high-entropy alloys, but it is obvious that it is possible to form excellent mechanical characteristics by selecting chemical compositions and a special heat treatment regime. Regarding the chemical composition, requirements are imposed both on the main components and alloying additives. Preliminarily, not only compositions are selected, but also methods for the synthesis of high-entropy alloys, including ab initio (density functional theory), neural network prediction, and classical molecular dynamic simulation with possible conditions for the formation of model nano- high-entropy alloy samples, as well as derivative options. The resulting descriptions are compared with real methods of high-entropy alloys synthesis, for example, exposure to various synthetic media.

The principles of designing high-entropy alloys related to the selection of elements are analyzed. When selecting elements, a parametric approach is used, including chemical and topological parameters. The main chemical parameter is the enthalpy of mixing of elements, the main topological parameter is the atomic radius. It is emphasized that the use of modified atomic radii (which take into account the local electronic environment) better predicts the formation of either amorphous or crystalline high-entropy alloys. Four main effects that determine the properties of high-entropy alloys are considered: the high entropy effect, the lattice distortion effect, the delayed diffusion effect, and the «cocktail» effect. Obtaining nanosized high-entropy materials based on high-entropy alloys is a new promising direction that allows one to significantly expand their areas of application related to energy (catalysis, energy storage, etc.), nanoelectronics, etc. The article analyzes some methods for the synthesis of nanosized high-entropy alloys and materials based on them. basis, developed as catalysts. The improved performance over conventional catalysts is explained in terms of the effects and features specific to multicomponent systems.

When using minitubers as planting material in seed production, there is a problem of sparseness of seedlings, which is associated with different duration of the storage period of minitubers (since harvesting from an aeroponic installation to the appearance of the first single shoots). The purpose of the research is to establish the influence of the duration of the storage period of aeroponic minitubers on the growth, development and productivity of various potato varieties under field conditions. The research was carried out in 2020-2022 in the conditions of the Novosibirsk region, the soil is leached medium loamy chernozem. The objects of the research are aeroponic minitubers of early-ripening (Yuna, Terra, Legenda) and mid-ripening (Zlatka, Sokur) potato varieties for December, March and April harvesting periods. It was established that the storage period of minitubers of various varieties was 179-184 days when collected from an aeroponic installation in December, 91.7-118.3 days in March, 71.3-99.7 days in April. The use of minitubers as planting material for growing high-quality potato seeds is justified during the December and March harvesting periods. Potato plants from the December planting material had a germination rate of 98.5 %, germinated 20 days earlier, had a larger average leaf area, the initial yield on the first recording date was 2.6 times greater and the final yield was 1.4 times greater than the plants from the March planting material. Minitubers of the December period provided the highest yield (22.8 t/ha) and the yield of seed tubers (76.3 %), with March harvest time the corresponding values were lower by 6.8 t/ha and 15.9 %, with April harvest period – by 15.9 t/ha and 34,0 %. It is not practical to use minitubers of the April harvest time with a storage period of 91.7-118.3 days as planting material, since it is impossible to obtain yield for the most of the studied varieties. The Sokur (mid-ripening) and Terra (early-ripening) varieties showed the highest yields of 20.4 and 19.5 t/ha.

Background: Obesity was included in the International Classification of Diseases in 1990 as a chronic disease characterized by the excessive accumulation of body fat and a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 kg/m2. Aim: This systematic review was aimed to examine the role of marital status in determining body mass index and the risk of obesity. Methods: We performed a systematic literature search using three databases (PubMed (Medline), Embase, and Google Scholar) with the search query. Results: Of the 105 studies included in the systematic review, 76 studies (72%) reported a greater risk of obesity in married individuals compared to unmarried individuals. A meta-analysis of 24 studies included a total population of 369,499 participants: 257,257 married individuals (40,896 of whom had obesity) and 112,242 comparison subjects (single, divorced, or widowed individuals, 15,084 of whom had obesity). Odds ratios for obesity found a significant pooled odds ratio for obesity in married individuals compared with controls (OR 1.70; 95% CI 1.38–2.10). The socioeconomic environment was not the same throughout the period of studies analyzed. The odds of obesity in married individuals during economic crises was greater than during the period between crises: OR 2.56 (95% CI 2.09–3.13) during crises vs. OR 1.55 (95% CI 1.24–1.95) between crises. Conclusion: The results of this review confirm the importance of considering marital status in determining the risk of obesity.

In recent years, large datasets of in situ marine carbonate system parameters (partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2), total alkalinity, dissolved inorganic carbon and pH) have been collated, quality-controlled and made publicly available. These carbonate system datasets have highly variable data density in both space and time, especially in the case of pCO2, which is routinely measured at high frequency using underway measuring systems. This variation in data density can create biases when the data are used, for example, for algorithm assessment, favouring datasets or regions with high data density. A common way to overcome data density issues is to bin the data into cells of equal latitude and longitude extent. This leads to bins with spatial areas that are latitude- and projection-dependent (e.g. become smaller and more elongated as the poles are approached). Additionally, as bin boundaries are defined without reference to the spatial distribution of the data or to geographical features, data clusters may be divided sub-optimally (e.g. a bin covering a region with a strong gradient). To overcome these problems and to provide a tool for matching surface in situ data with satellite, model and climatological data, which often have very different spatiotemporal scales both from the in situ data and from each other, a methodology has been created to group in situ data into “regions of interest”: spatiotemporal cylinders consisting of circles on the Earth's surface extending over a period of time. These regions of interest are optimally adjusted to contain as many in situ measurements as possible. All surface in situ measurements of the same parameter contained in a region of interest are collated, including estimated uncertainties and regional summary statistics. The same grouping is applied to each of the non-in situ datasets in turn, producing a dataset of coincident matchups that are consistent in space and time. About 35 million in situ data points were matched with data from five satellite sources and five model and reanalysis datasets to produce a global matchup dataset of carbonate system data, consisting of ∼286 000 regions of interest spanning 54 years from 1957 to 2020. Each region of interest is 100 km in diameter and 10 d in duration. An example application, the reparameterisation of a global total alkalinity algorithm, is presented. This matchup dataset can be updated as and when in situ and other datasets are updated, and similar datasets at finer spatiotemporal scale can be constructed, for example, to enable regional studies. The matchup dataset provides users with a large multi-parameter carbonate system dataset containing data from different sources, in one consistent, collated and standardised format suitable for model–data intercomparisons and model evaluations. The article presents both molecular dynamics calculations of binary Fe–Ni alloys and experimental studies of Ti and Co alloyed nanocrystalline alloys with a B2–Ti(Fe, Co) matrix structure as well as bcc-(Nb, Ti) and B2– eutectic phases Ti(Fe, Co). The structures of membrane alloys based on Fe–Ni (arrangement of atoms in coordination polyhedra and interatomic distances between atoms), as well as the kinetics of hydrogen - diffusion and permeability have been studied. It is shown that in the membranes of alloyed alloys with the substitution of Ni for cobalt Fe35-XCoXTi35Nb30, with an excess of Fe than for cobalt, mechanical brittleness is manifested in the B2–TiFe phase, and the plasticity of the B2 phase also decreases. At the same time, the resistance to an increase in hydrogen absorption is also weakened, up to mechanical destruction of membranes, so that in high-entropy alloys Fe0,2Ni0,2Cr0,2Co0,2Mn0,2, Fe0,2Co0,2Cr0,2 Ti0,2Al0,2 Fe and Co in equal parts. Other intermetallic alloys are also promising, having more complex compositions with high or moderate entropy, for example, Zr0,2Ti0,2Nb0,2V0,2Co0,2 and Zr0,2Ti0,2Ta0,2V0,2Co0,2, in addition to hydrogen evolution, also have storage properties. Within the framework of molecular dynamics, the effect of strain hardening of membrane HEA alloys is experimentally presented - the mechanism of synergy with multiple deformation. As a result of such hardening, a partial transformation of the austenitic phase into a martensite phase occurs with the formation of twinning in their fcc/hcp grains and the formation of a two-phase matrix structure.

An analysis of synthesized unique two-dimensional 2D materials with nanolayer hexagonal and pentagonal structures (based on carbon, silicon, tin, binary compounds CN2, BN2, PdSe2 and ternary compounds – BCN, CNP, PdSSe, Zn2C2P2) was carried out. The synthesis of these materials was performed by the chemical vapor deposition or metal epitaxy on pre-prepared substrates. The strength and functional characteristics (electronic, optical) of the created models were also analyzed using the DFT theory in the form of triple monolayers with double-sided deposition of hydrogen on the surface of the p-Si2C4 monolayer: hydrogen/p-Si2C4/hydrogen. It was found that the p-Si2C4-4H layer with its two-sided hydrogen adsorption and good properties was the most dynamically stable. This article also presents relatively recently obtained hexa- and pentagonal two-dimensional materials not only for the elements C, Si, Ge, B, but also for Cu1–xNix, Ti1–xNix alloys and Bi1–xSbx, CN2, BN2, PdSe2, etc. compounds. So, with the new unique materials created – the synthesis of superstrong, thermostable nanocomposites, superconducting layered composites (based on Bi, Hg and Sb), prospects are opening up for the development of nanoelectronics, spintronics, computer technology, as well as the creation of portable strain gauges, pressure sensors, gas sensors and dialysis catalysts for water dialysis with the release of hydrogen and oxygen.

The discharge of rivers and the subsequent dispersion of their plumes play a pivotal role in the biogeochemical cycling of the Arctic Ocean. Based on the data collected during annual transects conducted in the autumn period (September-October) from 2015-2020, this study explores the effect of River Lena plume dispersion on the seasonal and interannual changes in the hydrophysical and biogeochemical structure of the southeastern Laptev Sea. The temperature-salinity relationship (T-S), Redfield ratio and multiparameter cluster analysis were used to investigate variations in the water mass structure along the transect. The results revealed that the plume’s interannual and seasonal spreading patterns play a crucial role in regulating the local physical, biogeochemical, and biological processes in the southern Laptev Sea. During September-October, the hydrochemical water mass structure along the transects shifted from highly stratified to unstratified as the plume’s mixing intensity increased. Anomalous hydrochemical distributions were observed due to coastal upwelling, which was primarily characterized by high total alkalinity and nitrate levels, and low organic phosphorus, nitrite, and ammonia levels in the seawater. Wind and cold weather conditions drive deep vertical mixing of seawater, causing the resuspension of bottom sediment and the subsequent enrichment of bottom water by nutrients. Multi-parameter cluster analysis is used to describe the details of water mass structures in the highly dynamic southern Laptev Sea, with water mass structures typically undergoing significant changes within two weeks between September and October. The migration and transformation of water masses throughout the seasons are influenced by the volume of river discharge, fall-winter cooling, and atmospheric circulation patterns. Furthermore, the general atmospheric circulation is confirmed to be the primary cause of the interannual variation in the spread of the Lena River plume over the southeast Laptev Sea.
