Abstract

The article surveys the comparative German and Russian languages typology textbook. The purpose of the research is to provide a reader with the information about the educational process involving the textbook. The emphasis is placed upon the abilities of the textbook to provide students with professional and linguistic self-determination. The feature of the textbook includes two new sections concerning comparative German and Russian languages typology:comparative syntax and comparative lexicology. The theoretical material of the textbook served as a basis for graduate research papers for Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. It is worth mentioning the implementation of a student's professional and linguistic self-determination with the help of the textbook. It implies that the students were able to clarify the important features of similarities and differences of morphological, syntactic and lexicological composition of the compared languages, which were used by the students during their practice at companies, industries and schools. 6. H +-translocating ATPase and Na +/H +antiport activities in the plasma membrane of the marine alga Platymonas viridis

Abstract

Proton transport by the vanadate-sensitive ATPase in plasma membrane (PM) vesicles from the marine unicellular microalga Platymonas viridiswas investigated. The ATP-dependent generation of ΔpH across the membranes of PM vesicles was followed by the changes in the absorbance of the aminoacridine probe. Acridine orange, Na +caused the decay of ΔpH generated by the ATPase, the rate of the decay being dependent on the concentrations of Na +added. The phenomenon was specific for Na +. Amiloride inhibited Na +-dependent ΔpH decay. The experiments support the idea of a Na +-extruding mechanism (H +-translocating ATPase plus Na +/H +antiporter) operating in the PM of marine alga Pl. viridis.

7. The ATP‐driven Na+‐pump in the plasma membrane of the marine unicellular alga, Platymonas viridis

Abstract

The ATP‐supported 22NA+uptake by plasma membrane vesicles from the marine microalga, Platymonas viridis, was studied. At pH 7 in the medium, Na+uptake did not occur in the presence of ATP although ΔpH across the plasma membrane was generated. The ATP‐dependent Na+uptake was induced by adding the protonophore, CICCP. At pH 8, Na+uptake took place when ATP was added even without CICCP. The ΔpH generated across the plasma membrane was negligible under these conditions. The Na+uptake at pH 8 was not affected by CICCP and amiloride, an inhibitor of the Na+/H+antiporter. It is concluded that the ATP‐supported Na+uptake by Pl. viridisvesicles is catalyzed by Na+‐ATPase.
